2 Chronicles 29

1 Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.

3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.

4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,

5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.

7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.

8 Wherefore the wrath of the Lord was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.

9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

12 Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:

13 And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:

14 And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.

15 And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the Lord, to cleanse the house of the Lord.

16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.

17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

18 Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.

19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the Lord.

20 Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord.

21 And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the Lord.

22 So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.

23 And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:

24 And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

25 And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.

26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.

30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the Lord, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.

32 And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord.

33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the Lord was set in order.

36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

  1. This chapter made me think about “It’s never to late”. So many people think that they have just gone to far, done to many things and that is a lie from the devil. You can change, you can turn things around; but, the choice and decision has to be made to do it. 1 Peter 5:10 AMP says “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]. Psalm 40:2 NLT “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” Hezekiah decided to make a change as verse 10-11 MSG says “I have decided to make a covenant with the God of Israel and turn history around so that God will no longer be angry with us. Children, don’t drag your feet in this! God has chosen you to take your place before him to serve in conducting and leading worship—this is your life work; make sure you do it and do it well.”

  2. 25. King Hezekiah stationed the Levites in the LORD’s temple with cymbals and stringed instruments, just as David, Gad the king’s prophet, and Nathan the prophet had ordered. (The LORD had actually given these orders through his prophets.)
    26. The Levites had David’s musical instruments and the priests had trumpets.
    27. Hezekiah ordered the burnt sacrifice to be offered on the altar. As they began to offer the sacrifice, they also began to sing to the LORD, accompanied by the trumpets and the musical instruments of King David of Israel.
    28. The entire assembly worshiped, as the singers sang and the trumpeters played. They continued until the burnt sacrifice was completed.
    30. King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to praise the LORD, using the psalms of David and Asaph the prophet. So they JOYFULLY offered praise and bowed down and worshiped. NET

It’s not a drudgery or a chore to play instruments or sing in the house of God. We should do it joyfully; it’s the least we can do for all He has done for us!

  3. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.
3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.
4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place

The first thing he did as king was opened the doors and repaired them, then issued for the priests to clean themselves. This was his first move. Before doing anything as king, before making commands and orders for how things were going to be and telling people to follow him. His first priority were to restore and sanctify. That is the best beginning anyone could have to start over. I am praying that God reveal this to our new president, to call for repairs and sanctification for the house of God.

  4. II chronicles 29:11 NEW Livimg Translation
My sons, do not neglect your duties any longer! The LORD has chosen you to stand in his presence, to minister to him, and to lead the people in worship and present offerings to him.”

King James uses the word negligent in going to the house of the Lord.
If we neglect or become laxidascal in our service to God how can we lead others. Oh yes we all get tired , but if we prioritize God will give us the rest we need.
God has something for each of us to do for the Kingdom. We cannot neglect our duties we must lead ,by example in our worship n our giving ,in our serving and in our attendance to the house of God.

  5. 5 He said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Purify yourselves, and purify the Temple of the Lord, the God of your ancestors. Remove all the defiled things from the sanctuary. (NLT)

Let’s obey and create a place of worship where every knee will bow then rise up to praise just like Hezekiah and the people did.

  6. 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

We must make the effort to be like Jesus everyday. I am reminded of Leviticus 20:26 which says, “And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.”

  7. For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
    2 Chronicles 29:9 KJV
    http://bible.com/1/2ch.29.9.KJV

We must be vigilant always considering that we, by our actions can lead our children into captivity…… we may never see the outcome but if we are in prayer and continually seek after GOD’S face, then we could very well be able to see in the Spirit what we could do to change things so that they don’t suffer unnecessary consequences dealt unto them by our actions, responses, attitudes towards serving GOD!!!
Sometimes i don’t feel like serving, (but i won’t tell my children in that moment) because it’s my attitude while serving , that can discourage my children , therefore taking them into bondage.
I used to complain about having to iron my son’s clothing for church, then when he back slid, I CRIED OUT TO GOD that I missed ironing my son’s clothes. I WILL NEVER AGAIN complain about ironing for church!!! GOD is GOOD!!! It’s not everyday I GET to see all of my children in Church, but when I DO, I REJOICE!!! I THANK YOU JESUS, I PRAISE YOU DADDY, FOR YOU ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS!!! YOU ARE SOOOO GOOD TO ME!!!

  8. “Then these Levites got right to work: From the clan of Kohath: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah. From the clan of Merari: Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel. From the clan of Gershon: Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah. From the family of Elizaphan: Shimri and Jeiel. From the family of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah. From the family of Heman: Jehiel and Shimei. From the family of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel. These men called together their fellow Levites, and they all purified themselves. Then they began to cleanse the Temple of the LORD, just as the king had commanded. They were careful to follow all the LORD’s instructions in their work. The priests went into the sanctuary of the Temple of the LORD to cleanse it, and they took out to the Temple courtyard all the defiled things they found. From there the Levites carted it all out to the Kidron Valley. They began the work in early spring, on the first day of the new year, and in eight days they had reached the entry room of the LORD’s Temple. Then they purified the Temple of the LORD itself, which took another eight days. So the entire task was completed in sixteen days.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭29:12-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes all people need is just good leader. For the Levites it took their leader to give them instruction. But it also took the Levites to actually follow through. They wasted no time they rolled up their sleeves and they got to work. Didn’t see it I don’t Levi and waste time they didn’t do a sloppy job. They worked hard and work with excellence.

“And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭29:36‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  9. iLove to Grow in the Word
2 Chronicles 29:36 NLT And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly.

Wow, look at the great leadership of King Hezekiah. His father was evil so my mind wonders what lead him to be a righteous king. It definitely was not the example of his father. The leadership of King Hezekiah lead the whole nation into true worship and revival. We must pray for our leadership in these last days

  10. 25 And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.
26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

The sacrifice with music. Music is such a vital part in worshipping God. Music is so vital in our lives. Listen to the Godly music around you. A child’s laugh. The trees on a windy day. The birds outside your morning window. Take the time and listen to the music around you.

  11. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.
3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.
4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place
one of the first things he did is open up the house of God he also repaired it. He understood that for the people to get back to God they need it to be able to have a church to go to. today some people minimize the need for church but if it was important in the Old Testament it’s even more important today in this modern society. let us open up the doors of the church and Let Jesus in!

  12. As we read this book we see so much people going there own way so man kings do evil in the lord eye

But Hezekiah says it’s not going to be none of that.
I going to sever you lord so he did he open the temple and clean it out. the temple is a holy place. So Hezekiah was different form some of the kings he want to do what was right in the eye of god. He mention early in the chapter kings got killed because they didn’t want to obey. And when try to get their attention they refused to listen but Hezekiah made up his mind that he wasn’t going to do the things the other kings did

In these last time we don’t need to get caught up in this world. We need to take a stand. And say i not going to do what others people do but god i am going to tust in you if we can just get our mind set on god and say god you are in control. I can promise you nothing in this world would matter

  13. 10 Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us. 11 My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.”

Sadly what we do and other people do affect us. Yet we have the choice to make and be the difference to change our own lives and the lives of others. We must stand, be bold, courageous, and serve him, and itll take a lot of sacrifices but nothing will be in vain. The Lord knows our hearts and will bless us because of our obedience and sacrifice given unto Him. Don’t let the things of this world affect your walk with God. Let’s keep our eyes on Him, our trust in Him, our faith in Him, and above all keeping Him above everything else. Lord protect us from all evil and let your kingdom come Lord!!!!

  14. 36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

This last verse made me think of the scripture in John 6: 44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” God raised up a man to lead his people back to him AND prepared the people – gave them a desire – to come back to him. This He will do again just before the rapture…John 6:40 “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” We must be ready, be church, for the harvest that God already has planned for POFW! Backsliders are coming home, sons and daughters are coming home and we be amazed at the work the Lord is doing! Rejoice now!

  15. 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

Just because a relative held a religious tradition, does not necessarily make it a right tradition. We must search the Word of God through prayer for ourselves. If something that we were taught as a child is not right, we need to repent, let it go and do what the Word says.

We can’t get to heaven on someone else’s experience. We must experience for ourselves. Something that grandmas could do and be ok for her, may not be ok for me because I am a different person. I have different thought patterns and it might be a weight for me personally so I must lay it down.

  16. REVIVAL NOW

We witness in this chapter the presentation of what JESUS showed me when Revival NOW was birthed. Hezekiah recognized the condition and spiritual state of the house of the LORD (Church). He then made it his FIRST priority.

Where is the condition of the CHURCH on our priority list? The physical and spiritual state.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Hezekiah recognized the needs abd initiated a call to repentance and REVIVAL NOW.

Hezekiah initiated a plan and delegated authority.
10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

The servants were serious about their opportunity. They put the call to REVIVAL NOW as their FIRST priority and were ACCOUNTABLE for the completion of their assignment.

REVIVAL NOW transpired so fast there were not enough Ministers and the fat or anointing was MORE than they could handle.

I want IT. I Pray for IT to happen at POFW. Lets REPENT and RESTORE.

    REVIVAL NOW

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  17. 34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

    Team work!

If I were to walk around just using one arm, I would be limiting myself to what I could do. We were all called to me members of the body of Christ. Not like Sam’s Club members but extensions of the body of Christ. If we learn what our purpose on the body we are, collectively we can be at the capacity that God intended us to be.

    Unity = Effectively

  18. 2 Chronicles 29:36
And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly. NlT

Just because the other kings including your own father was living an unholy life doesnt mean you jave to be unGodly too. You can break that generational curse and serve God with your whole heart!

  19. We all need to do what we can to complete this verse. So, stand on his word and have faith in Jesus! We can give offerings of praise to him, and also sacrificial giving!

2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.

  20. Reminds me of song i heard when i was younger and has stuck with me since, “there’s nothing out there for a soul that’s once known God”.
after you have been in the church and see and felt God goodness how can you turn your back on him and deny him and not live for him. Is it cause you want to be like the in group? your friends are doing it? It’s time to have our own personal relationship with God and let the world go by.

  21. One thing I learned about God that I have always enjoyed, is that God moves on his time. Sometimes we think we know when God should do something for us, but he is waiting for the right time. We cannot get frustrated while God is working, he’s knows when the right time is to move. When we try to move out of God’s time, we end up making mistakes that cost us a lot in the end.

  22. 2 Chronicles 29:20-24
    20) Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.
    21) And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.
    22) So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
    23) And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
    24) And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

I am so thankful that this is no longer the process we have to go through to be cleansed of our sins. JESUS became the sacrifice for sin. All we have to do is “…confess (admit, acknowledge, declare) our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

Thank You JESUS for becoming the propitiation for our sins, and not for our sins only, but for the sins of the whole world.
Thank You JESUS that you thought I was worth saving.
Thank You JESUS that you thought I was to die for.

  23. 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

We must sanctify ourselves so that as we come into the house of God we are ministering spirits of holiness and righteousness and not carnality!!

  24. 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

  25. 31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the Lord, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.

The people had to recognize their need to turn back to the Lord and repent. This all took work because they had to follow a process of consecration and purging themselves of the unclean. They would have to be sanctified in order to proceed. The people offered up sacrifices from the willingness of their heart to the point that the priests were too few. Powerful things happen when nations repent and remediate themselves to God.

  26. My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.(2 Chronicles 29:11 KJV)

We are a called people a generation chosen to stand and serve before the Lord. He is preparing us for a great revival. An awakening to burn incense of prayer and worship.

  27. Hezekiah did what was right and restored the Temple and its worship. Whenever things look bad, restoration and a recommitment to God is preferred. I hope America is going to do this with its turn around and tearing down the “idols” of legislation and executive orders the Obama administration out in place.

  28. Michael
“And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the Lord, to cleanse the house of the Lord.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭29:15
    They sanctified the church.

“And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron. Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭29:16-17

The priests and Levites worked on making the temple Holy for many days. They hard to WORK at it. They changed their way of life and their commitments to God. This concept is unheard of in today’s society. We need to get to a place, as a people, that we sanctify ourselves and the things we use in God’s house sorhe he fells welcome where we are.

  29. “For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.” The word of God (Jesus) records the reason. They turned away from God and did as they felt was right, which the cost was great. One should take note that God (Judge) will only allow sin for a season. Dear God, thank you for moral leaders that fear you. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  30. “My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.” The Lord chose them, which is the key. When the Lord is in it all works out; whereas the same is not true without him. God help us to seek your will in all things, in Jesus name.

  31. From the perspective of a former backslider

    2 Chronicles 29:35-36 (NLT)
35 There was an abundance of burnt offerings, along with the usual liquid offerings, and a great deal of fat from the many peace offerings.
So the Temple of the Lord was restored to service. 36 And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly.

When the temple is desolate, when the worship has gone, when offerings are no longer given, and one has officially backslidden there is a principle.

Much sacrifice is required to get back.

Yes God loves us. He knows what we went through and he understands our situation. But sin takes a toll.

When I came back to God, or rather he drew me back to him, I went through a process of great sacrifice.

Music, movies, clothing, books, and many other things were destroyed or given away to others. I had to clean house. I had become infected by a virus that had changed my entire life from who I once was. I even walked away from friends.

Backsliding is never worth it. It doesn’t take failing to have a great testimony. Many people never return and pay the ultimate consequence.

My advice is to fight for what you have and where you are. Pray no matter what. Read the word no matter what. Serve no matter what. And above all remain accountable.

Israel, like myself, could have been in a place of blessing being used greatly by God. But instead they had to go through a period of cleansing, and great sacrifice.

It’s liberating yes. But I would have rather stayed the course, kept the faith, and allow God to keep me.

  32. 29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.

We must consecrate ourselves be set apart and holy to come to the presence of God.

  33. I have decided to make a covenant with the GOD of Israel and turn history around so that GOD will no longer be angry with us. Children, don’t drag your feet in this! GOD has chosen you to take your place before him to serve in conducting and leading worship— this is your life work; make sure you do it and do it well.””
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭29:10-11‬ ‭MSG‬‬

The music leadership nor God asks for or requires perfection; only excellence. Those who have attended any leadership training sessions have heard this concept many times. However, sometimes we are our own worst critics. We know when we have not given our all. We know when we have not given our best. Only we know when we have given just enough to get by and fool our leaders. This not only applies to our ministry but our professional duties as well.

Vince Lombardi is quotes as saying: perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence. If we only pursue perfection, when we come up short, we are often overwhelmed and give up. Excellence is about setting a high standard for ourselves and focusing on getting as good as we can possibly be. It’s about being as excellent as we can be. It’s our current ability vs. our maximum potential.

  34. v11 ” My sons,do not negligent now, for the the LORD has chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him,and that you should minister to Him and burn incense”

As GOD’S people we are HIS chosen bride, greatly valued by GOD.
In this holy calling, we have power, authority, privilege, and responsibility.
Moreover, we are the called, chosen, and faithful to whom God will give eternal honor .
    Revelation 17:14

  35. I would be bold enough to say that in cases such as this, it is never too late to reconnect with the Lord. Revive that connection that bonded you to a most gracious and loving Savior. With Him everything in life is better.

  36. 16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord.

  37. 9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

There should be a desperate desire within us to make a covenate with God to turn the people of this nation back to Him. Yet, judgment must first start with us.

When we repair His house, santify our selves as His instruments, and sacrifice all to Him, He will answer swiftly.

  38. 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.

  39. 9Then the king and everyone with him bowed down in worship.

One day we all will bow before the Lord our God. By bowing to God , it’s a sign of respect and honor, that he is worthy.
