Ezra 6

1 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

2 And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

3 In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

4 With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king’s house:

5 And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.

6 Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:

7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

9 And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:

10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

12 And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

13 Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.

14 And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15 And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18 And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

19 And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.

20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

  1. The beginning of this chapter talks about how they rediscovered the order of king Cyrus and it made me think about how so many have deviated from the plan of God for their lives. It is now time to search and rediscover what that is.

The end of the chapter verse 22 NLT says “Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria[f] to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.” My God can do anything….only he can change your entire situation for good. I always pray this over my little Sovereign Soldiers, that the Lord let them find favor with their family, friends and teachers. We always remind them in Sunday School that no matter how young they are, they too can be used by God and through them God can reach their family, friends and teachers.

  2. 7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

Above it talks about the Jews were supposed to build the house of God. But what sticks out to me is it says the kings goods were to be given, as in Rams,Bullocks, and Lambs so what I see is the house of God needed things from the king, so in that request it was asked by God so the king should provide in abundance. If the king didn’t follow through with Gods request there would be great troubles to come.

  3. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Praise the LORD! Hallelujah! Come out from among them and be ye separate. Touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you!

  4. Ezra 6:6 Now therefore Tatnai governor beyond three river Shethar-bozenai and your companions the Apharsachites which are beyond the river be ye far from thence. Let the work of this house of God alone let the governor of the Jews build this house of God in his place. Moreover I make decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God that of the king’s goods even of the tribute beyond the river forthwith expenses be given unto these men that they be not hindered. And that which they have need of both young bullocks and rams and lambs for the burnt offerings of the God od heaven wheat salt wine and oil according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem let it be given them day by day without fail.

  5. 3 In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

A foundation is so important . There are ordinance set by the city and permits needed to begin any tyoe of construction work. When a foundation is laid it has to be strong. It cannot have any weakened areas less when you begin to build the house you are building will not maintain the strength it needs. I remeber my daddy talking about the foundation of houses and how someone had not completed the foundation up to standard. We as the body of Christ the temple of the Holy Ghost have to be sure we are building our life on a strong foundation. One that will not crumbled, one that will be firm. The verse here says the foundation had to be strongly laid. When we begin to offer up to God the sacrifices of praise, sacrifices of any kind if our foundation is not strong then the sacrifice can fall through the foundation. Daily we build up our foundation in Christ through everything we do til the time we lay our heads down at night. Not one day can go by without making sure our foundation is strong. The word, our devotions, our love for the things of God rather than the things of their world. What tyoe of foundation Lord am or have I built my faith upon. I know whom I stand upon God You are the foundation I want my life to be built upon. Not just once but every day in everything I do and say.

  6. 16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

We must not JUST keep our devotions to God but that we KEEP it with JOY

  7. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Notice there is a separation and consecration that God brings his people to. God is calling all his people to a closer and more dedicated walk with him. When we do that we will see and experience great moves of God.

  8. When doing the Lords work, He will always see His will be done. That means, even if there’s opposition, He will make a way and send His favor before us. We just need to be obedient and trust and believe He will always see us through.

  9. 11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

12 And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

We need to take the word of God as it is, not try to give a different interpretation to it or change to suit our tastes and preferences. The word of God is eternal, that means it doesn’t “change with the times”. The word of God is still valid for us today because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

  10. iLove to Grow in the Word
22Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.

The Lord used the pagan king to help rebuild the temple. Wow, Boom, and in your face devil, God is awesome! Lord we pray that you would put the pagans around us to financially help us with the temple that we worship in. Let us find favor with the city of Fort Worth as well.

  11. “Moreover, I hereby decree that you are to help these elders of the Jews as they rebuild this Temple of God. You must pay the full construction costs, without delay, from my taxes collected in the province west of the Euphrates River so that the work will not be interrupted. “Give the priests in Jerusalem whatever is needed in the way of young bulls, rams, and male lambs for the burnt offerings presented to the God of heaven. And without fail, provide them with as much wheat, salt, wine, and olive oil as they need each day. Then they will be able to offer acceptable sacrifices to the God of heaven and pray for the welfare of the king and his sons.
    Ezra 6:8‭-‬10 NLT

Respect and honor our elders for they have more years on us
If they need help. Help them out .if they say not to do something or go do something do. Because they know more then we and they know what best because they have already been there

  12. Ezra 6:11, “Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter (change, adjust, modify, revise, redo, refine, transform) this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

    Rev. 22:18-19 says…
    18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.
    19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the Holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

God’s Word is sure, and It is forever settled in Heaven. You can’t alter it.
So, study to show yourself approved unto God, rightly dividing the word of truth. Know what It says, Read It and Study It.

  13. 6 Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shetharboznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:
7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.
8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

The King dug deep & the adversary gets exposed through the finding of Cyrus’s decree. They were ordered to help with the rebuilding of the Temple a long time ago-and not interfere. With God’s favor, they rebuilt and worshipped with joy! God can rebuild in our lives whatever the enemy has tried to destroy. Our job is to worship with joy and thanksgiving and let God arise in every situation and we will see our enemies scattered! “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” Isaiah 12:3 In Nehemiah 8:10 …”the joy of the Lord is my strength”.

  14. AMP – 6 “Now therefore, Tattenai, governor of the province [a]west of the [Euphrates] River, Shethar-bozenai and your associates, the officials who are west of the River, keep far away from there. 7 Leave the work on this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the Jewish elders rebuild this house of God on its site. 8 Also, I issue a decree as to what you are to do for these Jewish elders for the rebuilding of this house of God: the full cost is to be paid to these people from the royal treasury out of the taxes of the provinces west of the River, and that without delay. 9 Whatever is needed, including young bulls, rams, and lambs for the burnt offerings to the God of heaven, and wheat, salt, wine, and anointing oil, according to the request of the priests at Jerusalem, let it all be given to them daily without fail, 10 so that they may offer pleasing (sweet-smelling) sacrifices to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.

WOW – God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If He moved upon the heart of the governor to issue a decree that the complete rebuilding of the temple was to be paid for out of the treasury of the taxes, God is able to move upon the hearts of men and women in our day to bring their financial influence to POFW to meet the needs not only of our current building but also of PHASE II!

  15. PROSPERING THROUGH THE WORDS OF THE PROPHET

The voice of GOD through a faithful man is what initiated and inspired the Revival NOW of the house of GOD. We are wise to take note of the determination, focus and persistence of the laborers of the Kingdom. Maintaining focus for the Building of the House of the LORD to GROW the Kingdom of GOD is of ultimate importance in times of opposition.

The Elders (Wise followers) of the Jews persevered in spite of attempts to thwart the progress of the Building.

In Ezra 4 they rejected joining forces with an adversary.

2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

They overcame the attempts to politically halt their GROW campaign. They overcame FRUSTRATION and WEARINESS from within to continue to GROW the House of the LORD.

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5 And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

The overcame a temporary pause in their forward progress toward Revival NOW.

21 Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
22 Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
23 Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

THE MAN OF GOD STEPS IN

    Chapter 5
1 Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.

The result of their FAITH and Courage was to challenge their adversaries to search for the TRUTH and to finish the Rebuilding or Revival of the House of GOD.

17 Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.

TRUTH was revealed and The House of the LORD was completed. The result of perseverance is Liberty and Peace in Revival NOW.

7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

Keep pressing forward child of GOD and “O” give thanks to the LORD. For HIS Mercy endures forever.

  16. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Don’t lose your joy. Remember, our situations are temporary. We have overcome through Jesus Christ.

  17. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Remember the joy of the LORD is our strength! Situations are temporary but we have overcame through the blood of Jesus!

  18. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat,

22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the the house of God, the God of Israel.

For this light affliction is but for a moment! Those world is not my home I’m just passing thru!

  19. 11“Those who violate this decree in any way will have a beam pulled from their house. Then they will be tied to it and flogged, and their house will be reduced to a pile of rubble.

Yes the temple was going to be built because the king ordered it to be so. But when adding the consequences of anyone trying to hinder the process, one would be more than willing to help and ensure the temple was built. We should strive to complete things in order and in a timely manner. We should not have to be threaten to complete a job.

  20. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

The joy of the Lord is something that can only be given by Him and cannot be taken away by anyone else because if we truly have His joy nothing that comes against will prosper!!

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭30:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  21. Ezra 6:22 (NLT)
22 Then they celebrated the Festival of Unleavened Bread for seven days. There was great joy throughout the land because the Lord had caused the king of Assyria to be favorable to them, so that he helped them to rebuild the Temple of God, the God of Israel.

When we get right with God he will stretch out his mighty arm. Our enemies will aid us in kingdom work. People will easily come to him, and we will have the resources needed.

  22. “Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.” The word of God (Judge) records what was to be done if his (mans) word was altered. One should therefore give serious consideration to the word of God (Creator).

Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Dear God, bless us that we would reverence your word, and be wise enough too never change or alter a single word. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. “And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel, did eat”. Many were in captivity and many left on their own; however once the focus was back on the Lord they returned. The focus must always be on the Lord, and never on anything, or anyone else if the Lord’s presence is truly desired. God let us be mindful and let our focus be on you, in Jesus name

  24. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
Our sadden will be turned to joy by God.

  25. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

God is the only one that can give us joy!!! We might find happiness or pleasure in material things but nothing will truly give us that joy that we receive when we receive the HG. I have never backslide (Thank You Jesus) and I pray for the ones that have backslide to fall in love completely with Jesus and have that true relationship with the Lord of Lords. You are my everything Lord!!! Nothing satisfies me like you Lord! Thank you for dying at the cross for ME!!!

  26. 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the Lord had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

The Lord will provide. Though it seemed that everything was going south when the enemy came against them then thats when God shows up strong. He gave a word to the man of God and encouared the people. To keep the faith and keep working moving forward. The words of Gamaleil come to mind..”if its not of God it will come to nothing, but if it is you may find yourself fighting the Lord” (paraphrased).

  27. 13 Tattenai governor of the land across the Euphrates, Shethar-Bozenai, and their associates did it: They carried out the decree of Darius precisely and promptly.

Doing what we are asked to do the way we are asked to do it is more than just a good idea. Most people who are in leadership have earned their place; of course there are some who do not deserve their position but for the most part, our leaders are in place because they have been appointed, elected or promoted into their position. We may not always agree with our leadership but we must remain loyal to them. This should is very obvious concerning our spiritual leaders but also applies to our careers.

The directions from Cyrus were very clear. What was expected and the consequences of disloyalty is are clearly defined. We have the same declination and expectations at POFW. To be a leader at POFW we are asked to sign a covenant to act responsibly at all times.

  28. “King Darius gave an order. He had a search made in the official records that were stored among the treasures at Babylon. A scroll was found in a safe storeroom at Ecbatana in the land of Media. Here is what was written on it. This is my official reply to your letter.

Here is what I want you to do for the elders of the Jews. Here is how you must help the men who build the house of their God. Pay all of their expenses from the royal treasures. Use the money you collect from the people who live west of the Euphrates. Don’t let the work on the temple stop. Don’t fail to give the priests in Jerusalem what they ask for each day. Give them what they need. Give them young bulls, rams and male lambs. The priests can use them to sacrifice burnt offerings to the God of heaven. Also give them wheat, salt, wine and olive oil. Give them those things so they can offer sacrifices that please the God of heaven. And I want them to pray that things will go well for me and my sons.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6:1-2, 8-10‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

God is so good! Thank you Jesus for your grace and mercy.
