Ezra 7

1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:

6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

7 And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

8 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

9 For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

11 Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes to Israel.

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

14 Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;

15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

16 And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:

17 That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

18 And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

19 The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.

20 And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.

21 And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

22 Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23 Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

26 And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

  1. 27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

  2. Ezra 7:10, “For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.”

    Prepare Our Hearts…
    1) Seek the law of the LORD. (Study God’s Word)
    2) Do it. (Obey and Live by it)
    3) Teach it. (Teach and Share it with others – Bible Studies)

When we Prepare Our Hearts, we can “IMPACT LIVES” in the city of Fort Worth and have REVIVAL NOW!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my brothers and sisters in Christ!

  3. Verse 10 CEV “Ezra had spent his entire life studying and obeying the Law of the Lord and teaching it to others.” Same verse TLB “This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the laws of the Lord and to become a Bible teacher, teaching those laws to the people of Israel.” We too must be determined, obey and share Jesus with everyone we know.

The end of this chapter verses 27-28 MSG are captioned as follows:

Ezra: “I Was Ready to Go”
27-28 Blessed be God, the God-of-Our-Fathers, who put it in the mind of the king to beautify The Temple of God in Jerusalem! Not only that, he caused the king and all his advisors and influential officials actually to like me and back me. My God was on my side and I was ready to go. And I organized all the leaders of Israel to go with me.

We can start today by truly giving “Thanks” (everyone around the table) as Pastor said on Wednesday and then “Giving” (of our time, talent and treasure).
    POFW: “Is Ready to GO”!

  4. 27 Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem! (NLT)

Praise and thanks be unto God who brings us through with favor!

  5. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

Ezra isn’t mentioned in his own book until the 7th chapter and it says he had great favor with the king and with God. and yet, regardless of this and despite what was already righteous in him, he prepared his heart.
No matter what favor God gives us, righteous we believe ourselves to be and act, it is first and foremost to keep our hearts to seek God.

  6. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

Living for God isn’t something you can do when you feel like it. You have to prepare your heart for the journey. Living for God will take you through ups and downs but if you aren’t prepared you will fall out and walk away. It’s a heart issue. Prepare your hear, make up your mind. Live for Jesus no matter what.

  7. Have a good counsel.

    14Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

It is wise to have people in your life that you can have good counsel with. Make sure they are people you can trust and have your best as their intentions. So be blessed.

  8. This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the Lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.
    Ezra 7:10 NLT

Ezra determine to follow and teach god law because of this god had his hand on him
It’s important for us to study the word of god so if anyone come our way with false word
    We are already
We have the word of god to back us up

  9. 28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord was upon me. Yesterday is gone and in my weakest moment of rejection and hurt once again, the scripture reminds me today that I am strengthened as the hand of the Lord is upon me. I waited for a particular call and thought God had failed me, yet at midnight last night He assured me He had already given me the fulfillment of His purpose at this moment.. ,the answer was standing right in front of me………just as the the king extended mercy God extends mercy to us. He has out His hand upon us and has strengthened” ……
God is true and is faithful just as He as He was to the children of Isreal throughout the scriptures. With a grateful heart Today I Give Thanks.

  10. God will give his people favor with others. When you obey the word of God, his blessings will surround you. We may not understand everything that is done, but if we will continue to follow God, we will be abundantly blessed.

  11. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

This Thanksgiving season, let’s remember what we should be most thankful for. For Jesus and his saving grace that allows us to live. And let’s show him thanks by reading his word and doing his word, living a holy lifestyle. And to teach other people the word of God and be an example to people what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

  12. iLove to Grow in the Word

9 and he arrived at Jerusalem on August 4, for the gracious hand of his God was on him. 10This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.

If we really want the hand of the Lord upon us, we need to be determined to read and study the Word of God. We need to determine to teach Home Bible Studies as well. Happy Jesus Day.

  13. THE DESIRE TO GO

13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

Desire, Decision and Determination are 3 major attributes to GROW in any situation or opportunity. Health, business, financial, social, emotional, professional and most of all SPIRITUAL.

One of the most revealing attributes of our life is our DETERMINATION. We are all created with the ability to pretty much do what we want to do. GO where we want to GO. Practice what we want to practice and say what we want to say.

King Artaxerxes made a decree for the people of Israel. The people with a made up mind could GO to Jerusalem with the prophet if they had the desire.

Our Decisions are the fruit of our Desire. GOD weighs the actions of man.

    KJV
1 Samuel 2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

People often talk a big talk of desire, compassion and care with little or no fruit to support the boasting. The desire of our heart is revealed by the direction of our decisions. We often battle the temptation to remain uncommitted until we see the outcome. However, DETERMINED people influence the outcome. JESUS has set an open door before the Church in the last days and we must be willing to GO where JESUS leads.

I encourage everyone on this day of Giving Thanks to join the millions of people around the globe in preparing for the endtime harvest of the LORD through HIS church as we prepare our HEARTS to do all that the LORD has commanded us. As Ezra prepared so let us prepare to seek the law of the LORD, to DO IT and TEACH IT.

10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

It is TIME to GO for JESUS, laying aside all weight and sin. Forgiving others as we have been forgiven. Revival NOW.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. AMP – 23 Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done diligently and with enthusiasm for the house of the God of heaven, so that there will not be wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons.

Attitude is everything. Whatever we do for the Lord should be done with enthusiasm. God didn’t have to choose us. He could have chosen anyone, but He seen something in each of us to give us the opportunity to partake in His kingdom. We must never forget that we are just dirt that He breathed life into.

  15. For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
Ezra meet every requirement necessary to be effective in the kingdom of God as a leader and teacher.
Prepared- He studied and did his research to make share he was informed and everything he needed to be.
seek-He prayed and sought the face of God for direction.
do-He went out and looked for people to minister to and reach with the word of God.
teach-Lastly he set up opportunities to teach and reach people with the Word.
We must follow these principals to be effective leaders and teachers.

  16. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

We can get great counsel from this…. Prepare your heart. Repent and turn to God…seek the law of the Lord, seek Him, He is the Word, Do it; live your life be the church do the word…and teach it Go and make disciples.

  17. 13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

Ezra had a desire to GO teach and obey the LORDS commands and word. When related to society today and the church today many have a desire to GO but not willing to work with the requirements needed to GO. Not willing to change their time schedules, change their day to day habits, etc. to get in a deeper relationship with the LORD. Ezra had a heart for obeying the LORDS commands. We should have the same heart!

27 Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem! 28 And praise him for demonstrating such unfailing love to me by honoring me before the king, his council, and all his mighty nobles! I felt encouraged because the gracious hand of the Lord my God was on me. And I gathered some of the leaders of Israel to return with me to Jerusalem.

Today is the day of Thanksgiving! Praise the LORD for all he has done! POFW one year ago we were in a old building having to worry about stepping in and out of mud! POFW one year ago we were crammed into a small space with very space to move around! Now one year later, we have a new building no mud to worry about and many things to be thankful for! In a few weeks we are celebrating 14 years in which God has blessed POFW.

This past Tuesday Pastor taught about being responsive to our Pastoral leaders and listening to their counsels! He spoke on contributing to the joy of their pastoral leadership! Remember how Ezra had a desire to obey the LORDS commandments! We should have a level of obedience to obey what our Pastor has told us! Not picking and choosing what we want to follow!

  18. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

  19. Shortly after the LORD gave me this this morning this is what Just happend! And I felt led to share it with pofw here on the Blog!
I then opened up my bible to Mark 28:18-20 which says And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the World. Amen
I want to let someone know right now that it is NOT biblical to be baptized in The Father Son and The Holy Ghost and also it is not biblical for a baby to be baptized by sprinkling! For in the book of Acts we find the day of Pentecost! We find that when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all in one accord. The bible tells me that there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they where sitting. Verse 3 and there appeared unto them cloven tounges like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tounges, as the spirit gave utterance. In chapter 2 of acts verse 38 we find that Peter said repent and be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift the Holy Ghost. If you were baptized any other way than in the name of JESUS its time to REPENT and be baptized correctly! To repent means to ask GOD for forgivness and turn away from the sin and no longer do it. Thats what TRUE forgivness is! Also means to forgive others for what they have done for you. Also forgive yourself for things you have said or done! Its time to GO church teach the lost! There are souls waiting to hear about your experience!

  20. 14 Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;

15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

I know that for myself: I am going to need good counsel and there are but a few that have the type of counsel I seek. I am thankful for all that are available with the word of God to help guide and teach me. There has been a lot going on in my life, now it is time for me to make amends with God and seek him in every aspect of my life. I will obey and seek those that can guide me through this crucial time. I want to than you all that have been supporting my spiritual growth through this and the wisdom that has been provided. It is time for me to put away childish things and become the man of God I have been called to become. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for my sins; thank you Jesus for the wonders that have been opened to me; And thank you for the man of God that you have put before me………..Amen!!!!

  21. 27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
Thank you Jesus! Thank you for your mercy! Thank you lord for strength and peace!

  22. Ezra 7:10 (KJV Strong’s)
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

It all starts with a prepared heart. Then the rest will follow.

  23. 25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

Those that know the law have the grand privilege of teaching those that do not.

  24. 6This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

God will always be with us even in the most challenging places. When He puts us in a position we will also have the hand of God’s favor upon us. He will lead us and guide us only if we allow him.

  25. “For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.” The word of God (Jesus) records whose will would take precedence. One may declare many things; however the Judge (God) truly knows the intent of ones heart. One should also take a moment too give thanks unto God first, and secondly for those that are protecting us even now. Dear God, bless us with a heart like Ezra. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  26. “Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?” The king obeyed the Lord, as he wanted the Lord’s blessings. We should strive to do the same, for if we obey the Lord then we will be right in his sight. God help us that we may do your will, in Jesus name.

  27. For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord , and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.(Ezra 7:10 KJV)

Ezra had to prepare himself in his heart to seek the Lord and follow him before he could teach the Israelites. We are to seek first the kingdom of God. Study to show ourselves approved. When we prepare ourselves with God’s word and will then we can lead others.

  28. 27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

It should be our goal to keep and follow all the commandements of God in our heart.

  29. 28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

  30. 27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

This King was thankful that the Lord God had put in his heart to restore worship in the Temple in Jerusalem, that it would bode well for not only him, but for his sons. He sent Ezra who had prepared himself first, to teach others.

  31. 26Anyone who refuses to obey the law of your God and the law of the king will be punished immediately, either by death, banishment, confiscation of goods, or imprisonment.”

Yes the king I given Ezra the authority to build the temple. But the king added anyone who refuses the law of God including his laws would be punished. It was his way of letting Ezra know, I’m still the king here and in charge. Ezra knows who the true king is, he gave thanks to the Lord for making it happen.

  32. 25-26 I authorize you, Ezra, exercising the wisdom of God that you have in your hands, to appoint magistrates and judges so they can administer justice among all the people of the land across the Euphrates who live by the Teaching of your God. Anyone who does not know the Teaching, you teach them. Anyone who does not obey the Teaching of your God and the king must be tried and sentenced at once—death, banishment, a fine, prison, whatever.

Teach those who do not know. Why?

It’s a simple question with hundreds, or even thousands, of answers. There are social reasons to teach, charitable reasons, economic reasons and even diplomatic reasons to teach. Every person would be better off with the guidance and care of a great teacher is another reason to teach. Despite all these reasons, the most complete answer to the question: “Why teach?” is simple and concise: Teach to make a difference or as the vision of the POFW states: Impact lives.

Whether we are teaching from the pulpit, specialized classes such as Motion or discipleship classes or behind aids such as puppets – teaching is a noble act. Teachers are dedicated, to say the least. They work long hours, spend their own limited resources to innovate curriculum, and do everything they can to make sure their students learn something.

Still, teachers don’t receive the recognition they deserve. Let’s take a moment and acknowledge our teachers.

  33. 6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

    Ready!

What would happen if everyone where just READY! Ready to do what God purposed them to do. Ezra was blessed and all his prayer for an answer. He had set himself up to ask what so ever because he had aligned jimmy with Gods perfect will for his life.

    Get ready!

  34. “Blessed be GOD, the God-of-Our-Fathers, who put it in the mind of the king to beautify The Temple of GOD in Jerusalem! Not only that, he caused the king and all his advisors and influential officials actually to like me and back me. My God was on my side and I was ready to go. And I organized all the leaders of Israel to go with me.”
    ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭7:27-28‬ ‭MSG‬‬
Let’s GO! God is on our side!
