28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

30 And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, not take their daughters for our sons:

31 And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

32 Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;

33 For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

34 And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the law:

35 And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the Lord:

36 Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God:

37 And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

38 And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

  1. This chapter talks about the vow of the people that was made. What stuck out to me was the “we” in everything. The end of the chapter in the NLT says “We promise together not to neglect the Temple of our God”. There is no “I” in the word team. We must learn to work together in unity.

    Ephesians 4:3 NLT says “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Same verse in the AMP ” Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful].

  2. 28. And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    2 Corinthians 6:17
    Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

    We can’t partake of everything the world does and still live a holy, separated life before God.

  3. I love this chapter. It is very inspiring. This gets me amped up for IFT2 Hallelujah! The Temple has been built, now it’s our responsibility to maintain it. Just because we are in a new territory let us not digress to the practices of our neighbors. Let us be a statement for the Revelation of the Oneness of God and the Power of Jesus name and the Authority of the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God. Thank you, Jesus. Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD!!!

  4. 29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

    Something significant takes place when the people of God gather together in one mind and devote themselves to God and separate themselves from the world.

  5. 35 And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the Lord: we will not neglect the house of our God.

  6. 37 And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

    In this verse we see the biblical principal of tithing and giving. We see that it appears people tithed on multiple things. The same principle applies today. It’s still important to be a giver and let God bless our sacrifice.

  7. We must prepare for our offering. How many times do we just get in our wallets and get a couple of dollars to put in the offering. Or just get whatever is on the table so you can bring something. This is good that you bring an offering. But how many of us prepare for it? Think about it preparing to give to God. If we prepare something we take the time to make sure that it is right and well. That nothing hurts it. My prayer is that God would teach me on how to prepare to give.

  8. “… we will not forsake the house of our God.”

    There is a need to realign our focus and to take things to the house of God. We have a beautiful building filled with many nice things. We must be careful not to become lack in our duties to maintain the things of God. Philippians 2: 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. Do we love Jesus? Jesus asked Simon Peter three times in John 21 – lovest thou me? It is the love of God that drives us to pay attention to his house and to his people.

    Matthew 6:1-6 Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don’t make a performance out of it. It might be good theater, but the God who made you won’t be applauding. When you do something for someone else, don’t call attention to yourself. You’ve seen them in action, I’m sure—‘playactors’ I call them—treating prayer meeting and street corner alike as a stage, acting compassionate as long as someone is watching, playing to the crowds. They get applause, true, but that’s all they get. When you help someone out, don’t think about how it looks. Just do it—quietly and unobtrusively. That is the way your God, who conceived you in love, working behind the scenes, helps you out.

  9. The house of our God is a place where we worship him everyday and a place where we are safe but we must want to come to the house of god for a reason and that is to love and thank god for what he is doing.

  10. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    We should separate ourselves from the things of this world that are not Godly.

    2 Cor 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

  11. Verse 28 to the end of the chapter shows how the people first separated themselves from sin, then made covenant with God. Sometimes we forget one or the other and then wonder why we can’t hold a commitment or why we keep falling into old habits. Be holy and separate as He has called us to be and then serve Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

  12. 37 And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

    38 And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

    TITHE OF THE TITHE

    Some complain or question tithing. Tithing was and is meant to be a blessing. Not only does the scripture here speak about the people bringing the tithe but it also says the Levites who were actually the priest or the ministry were to bring tithe of the tithe. God set all things in order not to hurt or steal from us but to supply. Each time we give He is making provision to provide for us. Rest assuredly our pastor gives tithe on tithe and if you will watch closely each week during OFFEREING he brings his envelope with joy.
    Teach your children teach anyone who lives in your home about the joy of giving about how the ministry are to live by the tithe and yet they turn around and give back. I promise you if you live by the word and give first your tithe and then an offering God Will Always Take Care of You!
    You cannot out give God. Try it especially during the Christmas season when you may be tempted to not give so liberally………..

  13. EVERONE TITHE

    It is biblical for the priest or ministry to live from the increase of the TITHE. It is also biblical for the priest and or ministry to TITHE. We are ALL commanded to TITHE.

    Deuteronomy 12:11 Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord:

    Deuteronomy 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

    These verses are not recommendations or suggestions, they are clear commands. GOD is the only authority that can override this command and contrary to some belief JESUS never released his people from the TITHE. GOD through creation (FATHER), redemption (SON – JESUS) nor sanctification (HOLY SPIRIT) ever changed his mind or command.

    I challenge all people who believe TITHE is not a command to post your scripture here that says the Jews, children of Israel, the church, disciple or pastor/minister shall no longer TITHE.

    Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.

    Lets COMMIT to be OBEDIENT and FAITHFUL to GOD and HIS plan.

  14. 28 Then the rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand— 29 joined their leaders and bound themselves with an oath. They swore a curse on themselves if they failed to obey the Law of God as issued by his servant Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, regulations, and decrees of the Lord our Lord:

    Praise God!!! This is beautiful!!! I saw us doing the same when we sign the covenants. We curse ourslevs when we don’t obey what we signed because we agreed to the Lord we would follow His commands. When we don’t we turn into liars….JESUS HELP ME!!!! Its something we must do because we love you not because we have to do. Jesus help me obey your commands!!!! Help me build a greater relationship with you on a daily basis Lord!!!

  15. 29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

    30 And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, not take their daughters for our sons:

    When we sign the leadership covernment we are making a vow and a oath .we vow ourselves to commit to god. And that’s what they are doing committing there self to god committe to obey god law

  16. iLove to Grow in the Word

    “Then the rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand—”
    ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭10:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    We have to separate ourselves from the pagan music of this land. Attention all leadership, if you sing on the platform on Sunday and jam to worldly music on Monday I believe Nehemiah would have taken you off this list written in this chapter. Music is soul worship. The folks on Soul Train aren’t worshiping Jesus, they’re getting their pagan groove on. Let’s put on Jesus and separate ourselves from the pagan music of this world.

  17. “The rest of the people gathered together. They included the priests, the Levites and the men who guarded the gates. They included the singers and temple servants. They also included all those who separated themselves from the surrounding nations to obey the Law of God. All of those men brought their wives with them. And they brought all of their sons and daughters who were old enough to understand what was being agreed to. All of the men joined the nobles of their people. They made a firm agreement. They put themselves under a curse and took an oath. They promised to follow the Law of God. It had been given through Moses, the servant of God. They promised to obey carefully all of the commands, rules and laws of the Lord our Lord.”
    ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭10:28-29‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

    There was unity. The agreement was done as a family unit. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord…. no compromise! Spiritual death happens one compromise at a time.

  18. Nehemiah 10
    When we TRUELY seperate ourselves from the things of this world and LIVE by the WORD of GOD, GIVING to the WORK of the Kingdom of God comes naturally. I believe every True Believer has a Heart To Give.

  19. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments
    and his statutes;

    A covenant with God keeps us accountable to Him at all times. It goes beyond the four walls of the church. When you choose to follow God you are making a vow to serve him with you time, treasure, and talent! The Israelites had fallen away from their original commitment. We must keep our promise to God in times of sorrow and in times of Joy!!

  20. 29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

    We need to follow Gods way and trust in him Always!

  21. 28 The rest of the people, priests, Levites, security guards, singers, Temple staff, and all who separated themselves from the foreign neighbors to keep The Revelation of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters – everyone old enough to understand 29 – all joined their noble kinsmen in a binding oath to follow The Revelation of God given through Moses the servant of God, to keep and carry out all the commandments of God our Master, all his decisions and standards MSG

  22. 39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.

    “…and we will not forsake the house of our God” stood out to me.
    Set it in your mind that you will submit to God and fulfill His will.

  23. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

  24. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

  25. It wasn’t usual for the Israelites to bind themselves in promises with an oath and a curse. All the people came together in unity to rededicate themselves to upholding God’s laws and statutes. However it wasn’t necessary for them to seal it with a curse. God brings judgment for disobedience as it is so bringing about a curse is adding to the wrath. We should follow the teaching of Jesus to make our word our oath (Mt 5:33-37).

  26. They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

    A time to consecrate themselves in every way to declare their obedience to their God. We all need a time to re-dedicate ourselves to walk in his ways!

  27. “They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes”. The word of God (Jesus) records “was given by Moses the servant of God”. There was no doubt or confusion that Moses had been with God and received the commandments from God. The same is still true today (1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints). Dear God, let your will be done. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  28. “And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding”. They willing agreed to obey the Lord. We should strive to do likewise in obeying the Lord, for it is he alone that has the power to save. We should also never forget his love, mercy, and grace are for all that seek him. God help us and guide us in, Jesus name.

  29. Nehemiah 10:39 (MSG)
    39 We’ll see to it that the People of Israel and Levites bring the grain, wine, and oil to the storage rooms where the vessels of the Sanctuary are kept and where the priests who serve, the security guards, and the choir meet.
    We will not neglect The Temple of our God.

    It takes a commitment to live for God. Everyday we make a choice. Sometimes we fall but we get back up again. It’s up to us however to not just think that we can do this by pure happenstance. It has to be deliberate, focused, and intentional.

  30. This chapter depicts the beautifull display of unity and rededucation of the people of God. With a willing heart to submit themselves unto God. They were so serious about keeping their oath to following God’s commands they lost sight on the fact that God wants his people blessed and not cursed. To repent when they come short and keep their commitments even when times get hard.

  31. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    What a wonderful display of unity. They all seperaded themselves and they all walked in knowledge and understanding. My pray is that as the church we too can display this kind of unity.

  32. 29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
    Lord help us to remember and keep Our commitments to you lord.

  33. 29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

    The people of the Lord came to anagreement to obey the laws and statutes of God….the ending verse stood out “and we will not forsake the house of our God.” we need unity to Be the church..to Be Church.

  34. If you didn’t believe in tithing, there you go. I still can’t believe there is Christian’s who are against tithing.
    Not tithing is stealing. Period.

  35. 28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    It pleases God when we separate ourselves from the world and make him first.

  36. Our God is a God of order. Each person functions like in the parts of the body. Each function is important not matter how small it may seem. Every little thing builds up into systems and functions. Their is a process to everything and God expresses the importance.

  37. 31“We also promise that if the people of the land should bring any merchandise or grain to be sold on the Sabbath or on any other holy day, we will refuse to buy it.

    I remember as a youngster, many stores were closed on Sunday. Many people would honor that and attend Sunday morning services. Now, all stores are open and free to sell. Now people also rather go to shopping instead of going to Sunday morning services.
