13 And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,

14 And their brethren, mighty men of valour, an hundred twenty and eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great men.

15 Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.

17 And Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, was the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer: and Bakbukiah the second among his brethren, and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

18 All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four.

20 And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.

22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.

23 For it was the king’s commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day.

24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

  1. And the people blessed all the men, that WILLINGLY offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem. Nehemiah 11:2

There’s a difference between have to vs want to. When we willingly want to spend time with God, working in his kingdom the Lord blesses us. Because he see our hearts. he knows what our intentions , desires are.

Lord I pray that I will seek you with willingness of heart.

  2. Verses 1-2 CEV say “The nation’s leaders and their families settled in Jerusalem. But there was room for only one out of every ten of the remaining families, and so they asked God to show them[a] who would live there. Then everyone else asked God to bless those who were willing to live in Jerusalem.” This reminded me of when Pastor preached about seeking God’s direction in everything first. It also shows how some people willingly volunteered to make the move and live in Jerusalem. This made me think of sacrifice. Are we willing to make the first move and do what needs to be done? 2 Corinthians 8:12 CEV says “It doesn’t matter how much you have. What matters is how much you are willing to give from what you have.”

  3. No matter how small we think our role may be, or how many there are of us, we all are important in what we do. God doesn’t forget a name and doesn’t forget who and what we do. If God has it in his word, then it’s obviously important enough for us to know.

  4. I love that He took the time to give account of every person involved. Don’t ever think that the work you do doesn’t matter and He doesn’t see it. God notices and appreciates you.

  5. 23. Their daily responsibilities were carried out according to the terms of a royal command. NLT

Are we carrying out our responsibilities given by the royal command from the King of Kings?

  6. And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.. Proverbs 8:32 Now therefore hearken unto me of ye children : for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise and refuse it not.

  7. Seems like many of them were trying to stay in Judah; I don’t think I’d mind dwelling in the land of praise!

  8. Nehemiah 11:1-2 (AMP)
    1) Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem; but the rest of the people cast lots to bring one (person) out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine tenths remained in the other cities.
    2) And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.

Nehemiah was rebuilding the population of Jerusalem. He had LEADERS living there, now all he needed was VOLUNTEERS to live there too.

It all starts with LEADERSHIP, and then it takes VOLUNTEERS.
Thank You JESUS for the LEADERS at POFW, and Thank You for all the VOLUNTEERS who have Willingly Offered themselves to the Work of Your kingdom.

  9. 11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, was the ruler of the house of God.

12 And their brethren that did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of
There were many people in the house of God that were used for Its upkeep and maintenance. It appears that the house of God was very important to the people and everyone had a role in it. Today we all need a role and responsibility to take care of the house of God and do our part to make it beautiful.

  10. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

By willing offering ourselves each day as a living sacrifice to God, we can someday live in the New Jerusalem.

  11. iLove to Grow in the Word
1The leaders of the people were living in Jerusalem, the holy city. A tenth of the people from the other towns of Judah and Benjamin were chosen by sacred lots to live there, too, while the rest stayed where they were. 2And the people commended everyone who volunteered to resettle in Jerusalem.

Volunteered or Voluntold…they were commanded to return to Israel and they obeyed and came from all the corners of the world. We must give the decree to the people of Fort Worth to come to the temple of the Lord. As we repair the breaches and rededicate ourselves to the Lord, God will call the folks home to take this city for Jesus.

  12. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

God blesses a willing attitude! You cannot come into the house of God grudgingly expecting God to bless you, God sees those who come in willingly and ready to be used wherever God would call them!

  13. 36 And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.

The priest must know how to praise. Men as the priest of our house we must know how to praise and lead our families.

  14. WILLING SERVANTS ARE BLESSED

2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

There is a natural human nature response to the attitude of willing sacrifice. There is a pull at the heart and a tug on the spirit of man when we witness and observe sacrifice.

It is the natural response of the people of GOD to BLESS or RESPECT those that have given themselves to the work of GOD. When gifted individuals willingly give themselves to the work of GOD we should naturally bless and support them. Also if we desire the support and blessing of others we should be willing to offer ourselves to the work of the LORD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  15. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

    Blessed by offering ourself!

  16. 1 And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

  17. AMP – 23 For there was a [a]command from the [[b]Persian] king regarding the singers, as to their daily task.

What is the daily task of singers? To be prayed up, full of the Word, anointed, sensitive to the spirit of God, worshipful, alive, happy, full of joy, and the ability to lead others to that most holy place.

  18. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

Why wouldn’t everyone want to live in Jerusalem? Could it be that they only saw a broken down city in the state of being repaired & not fully ready for inhabitants? I think some had vision of what the city could be in time…plus the temple was there. The people blessed those willing to live in Jerusalem, but I think these volunteers considered it a privilege to live in the holy city. What is our vision for this region of Ft. Worth? I see it as a hub or center for the end time revival with thousands of souls flocking into the kingdom of God. It is a privilege to be part of the building of this church.

  19. 22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.

There is a great responsibility given to those apinted to worship the Lord. They are to attend the business of the house of God.

  20. The singers were under the kings orders who regulated their daily activities. This could be considered micromanagement but really God desires to be the center of our lives no matter how small the activity.

  21. Our God is a God of order. Each person functions like in the parts of the body. Each function is important not matter how small it may seem. Every little thing builds up into systems and functions. Their is a process to everything and God expresses the importance.

  22. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

God helped me to always have a willing sprit . It defeat the purpose to do what we know is right but out sprit isn’t right.

  23. “And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.” The word of God (Jesus) records “one of ten”. Those that volunteer today are even less. One should never forget and always be mindful of our police officers and military. One should also be mindful too pray for their families that also sacrifice in ways that many will never even know, as many are changed while others never return home (2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem). Dear God, open our eyes that we would be truly thankful. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  24. “Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that kept the gates, were an hundred seventy and two.” Many were involved and in various manners; however their task was safer because of those “that kept the gates”. We should all be thankful for all that have, and all that continue to keep us safe. God bless the gate keepers and their families, in Jesus name.

  25. Nehemiah 11:23 (MSG)
23 The singers got their orders from the king, who drew up their daily schedule.

Worshippers, praisers, singers, and those who extol the Lord get their orders from the King. Why? Because to be on the front lines it takes a heart of submission. Praising is warfare, and it is up to the worshippers, whether on the platform, or in the congregation to lead the charge into battle.

Without submission we lose our covering. This exposes us and makes us vulnerable to attack. We must remain submitted.

Worshippers their orders from the king.

  26. 22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.

There is a job for everyone in God’s house.

  27. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem

How many of us work for the Lord willingly or only because we have to because “were leaders.” Even as leaders we can’t fool God, we might be able to fool men but God knows our heart. He knows where our heart is at. I always pray that my hunger and passion will never die but keep growing to grow His kingdom. I can have many excuses to be comfored where I’m at but I want to keep growing and in order to keep growing I have to keep sacrificing. I will endure till the end and keep pushing for my reward. Only with your strength Lord!!!!

But the one who endures to the end will be saved. Matt 24:13

  28. “The leaders of the people were already living in Jerusalem, so the rest of the people drew lots to get one out of ten to move to Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine remained in their towns. The people applauded those who voluntarily offered to live in Jerusalem.”
    ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭11:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬
Those who voluntarily offered….. willingly agreed to live in Jerusalem. To me that means with a great attuide not unhappy or full of regret.

  29. Willing servants get condemned for serving the lord no matter how little or big the sacrifice. Don’t let anyone take away your will of serving God, no weapons aimed against you will prosper. God knows what’s in your heart serve him no matter what the world thinks remember it’s not you their condemning.

  30. 2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

Have you blessed someone today? Not because you feel you HAVE to but because it is in your heart.

  31. 2 And the people commended everyone who volunteered to resettle in Jerusalem.

POFW, we too have resettled in a new area. Now its up to us to reach out to the community and draw people in.

  32. One out of ten

“The leaders of the people were already living in Jerusalem, so the rest of the people drew lots to get one out of ten to move to Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine remained in their towns. The people applauded those who voluntarily offered to live in Jerusalem.”
    ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭11:1-2‬

Isn’t it wonderful how everything in the bible is in tune and cyclical. There are those who claim the bible contradicts itself but if one approaches these controversial verses/subjects and allows the Lord to speak to us the underlying concepts can be revealed. Of course this is not always the case as His thinking is not like our thinking.

We are all limited beings living in a sin-cursed world. There may be times when our thoughts are in tune with God’s thoughts. After all, believers are to “be imitators of God” and both men and women were created in the image of God. Nevertheless, we need to realize that God is infinitely intelligent, thus His thoughts are infinitely higher than our thoughts. Human thoughts have a beginning and an end; God is the Beginning and End.

  33. 8 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

    29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

30 And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, not take their daughters for our sons:

The higher you go in leadership, the more you have to separate yourself from the people, and take an oath with the Lord that I will abide by the commandments of the Lord.
