Esther 3

1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?

4 Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.

9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.

10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.

11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

12 Then were the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.

13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.

15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

  1. In reading this chapter, it made me think about who you trust and listen to. One must be careful about what they hear, believe and who they put their trust in. There are always two sides of the story and then of course, the truth of the matter. Not everyone around you has your best interest (spiritually) at heart. It is our responsibility as it should have been the king’s in this story to verify and make sure before passing his authority (signet ring) to Haman, someone who had his own personal agenda. As Pastor has said in the past, if you question what someone is saying, make them show you where it is in the book (Bible).

  2. 8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.

There will always be those that hate and want to persecute us. Something’s never change. It is our job to, like Mordecai, stand for our Faith and bow to no one but our God and our king.

  3. Esther 3:8-11
    8) And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom: and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
    9) If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.
    10) And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jew’s enemy.
    11) And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

Haman came to king Ahasuerus with a problem and a solution. The thing is… king Ahasuerus didn’t ask questions about the problem (who were these certain people, and what have they done?) and he didn’t ask Haman why he thought his solution (to destroy them) was the right solution to the problem. He just let Haman have his way.

I would say this was BAD LEADERSHIP on king Ahasuerus’ part.

  4. 3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?

This can be connected to why go against the laws of God or his word. We need to set a standard for ourselves and follow Gods words and rules and get connected to him on a whole other level.

  5. 10. Not knowing which group of foreigners was being targeted, the king took his signet ring, the symbol of his power and authority, from his finger and passed it to Haman (son of Hammedatha, the Agagite), who hated the Jews. The Voice

He gave the symbol of his power and authority to a plan without being aware of the whole story or its consequences. (A bad idea for anyone, especially a leader.) Any plan that goes against God’s master plan is doomed to fail.

  6. 5 When Haman saw that Mordecai would not bow down or show him respect, he was filled with rage. (NLT)

Similar days are ahead, what choice will you make?

  7. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai

Mordechai made a decision he decided he would not bow and made the king angry. I applaud him for not giving in to the pressure . God is looking for others like him not to bow but to be strong and keep their head up.

  8. 1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

The bible tells us that Jesus is the one who sets kings in place and Jesus is the one who removes them. Some time in our lives, sometimes many times in our lives we will have an evil person set in authority over us, that is out to destroy us, just so Jesus can GROW us more.

  9. iLove to Grow in the Word
Esther 3:14 A copy of this decree was to be issued as law in every province and proclaimed to all peoples, so that they would be ready to do their duty on the appointed day. 15At the king’s command, the decree went out by swift messengers, and it was also proclaimed in the fortress of Susa. Then the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa fell into confusion.

“No Weapon Formed Against Us Shall Prosper”
The enemy of the Jews sat back with the king and thought he had a wonderful plan. He was the king’s highest official and had the greatest influence upon the king. He thought he would send the Children of Israel into great confusion and ultimately destroy the Messiah before he was ever born. The saints of God must have gone into a panic…But God is always one step ahead for His people. Before the trial ever began, God already had a plan of deliverance packaged in Esther.

The church might feel as if it is under attack. There might be folks acting crazy and speaking negative at the church (as a whole; folks would never do that at POFW), but I’m telling you right now God has deliverance in his wings and prophecy will be fulfilled. Esther (the beautiful true church) will arise and the enemies of the Lord will be scattered and will receive their reward. Boom

  10. The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given
we must follow the commandment everyday that is given so lets listen to what god gives us Amen

  11. LEADERS STAND ON TRUTH

A righteous man in a sinful nation is the prescription for doom in the eyes of the adversary. The attempts of satan to isolate and defeat the church are rampant today. However, Mordecai refused to bow to a man, he worshipped only GOD.

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Mordecai was convicted of a TRUTH in WORSHIP. As a Jew he was instructed to know that there is only ONE GOD.

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

A Leaders conviction will not allow fear to run his life. Even at the threat of death, Leaders stand firm on the WORD of GOD.

    Why?

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Regardless if we are free from the penalty of this worlds affliction or free from this world to our eternal promise. The TRUTH shall make us FREE.

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Christian Leaders are called to exemplify Freedom to a bound world, by expressing and displaying our FAITH in GOD to stand on HIS WORD (JESUS) in all situations, humbling ourselves to HIS will, serving in HIS Kingdom.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  12. Esther 3:2 And all the king’s servants that were in the King’s gate bowed and reverenced Haman for the King had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not nor did him reverence. Then the king’s servants which were in the King’s gate said unto to Mordecai why transgresses thou the King’s commandment? Now it came to pass when they speak daily unto him and he hearkened not unto them that they told Haman to see whether Mordecai’s matter would stand for he had told them that he was a Jew. And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not nor did him reverence then was Haman full of wrath.

  13. interest chapter we read about Mordecai today Mordecai. Knew the truth. He also knew that there only one ture king above all other only one god That we bow down to

This chapter also take to me to the book of revelation and the end of Matthew when it talk about the Antichrist you see their going to be a day when the Antichrist is going to arises. He going to tell and say so many false thing. That will seem like truth
He going to do Many miracles. Many will think it’s jesus Christ the bible say many will believe. But those who know the truth will not fall .
There coming a day when there won’t be a bible to read that’s why we need to know the truth
Because at the end the only thing that stands is the word of god In you if we are not tell someone about the word of god then are failing to be the truth the bible say he is the truth and the way The only way

So must ask ourselves who are we tell Someone about the gospel of Jesus Christ?

    Are we reading daily?

  14. 2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Stick to your convictions, no matter what everyone else does. Everyone’s relationship with God is their own. God speaks to each of us uniquely. There are absolute principles in HIS word that everyone must follow. There are also personal convictions in HIS word that may be right for me, but not right for you. Whatever convictions God has spoken to me, I don’t want to be swayed by peers or family to let that conviction go to please others.

They will not stand before God with me on judgement day, it will be me, myself and I, alone. I must take responsibility for what I have done with what God has shared with me through prayer and HIS word.

  15. 15 At the king’s command, the decree went out by swift messengers, and it was also proclaimed in the fortress of Susa. Then the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa fell into confusion.

  16. Infected advice

We would like to believe those closest to us have our best interest at heart, especially when they offer advice or listen to our issues. In many cases, this could not be further from the truth. If we are honest with ourselves, we all have or have had friends that fit that profile. These kinds of friends tend to have ulterior motives. This includes friends who have been in our lives since forever. Although they genuinely care, the heart wants what the heart wants. Thus, they unconsciously or consciously influence your life.

Don’t get me wrong, it is human nature to seek out counsel in the midst of a storm, but we have to be careful whom we reach out to. We need to ensure they have our best interest at heart. Sometimes we turn to people we have known the longest; with whom we are most comfortable. We still need to discern their advice. They often mean well and have your best interest at heart. However, their opinion may be motivated by other factors. For example, their advice may be based on their past experiences not your personal experiences. Or they may feel like they know what’s best for you since they have been in your life for so long.

  17. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

If and when this happens what will you do? I know we all say we would never bow before anyone but God, but if our relationship with God is not in the right place it won’t take much to get you to fall on your knees. We must be prepared and work on our relationship with Him everyday!

  18. 6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

This mans pride leads him to his own destruction which makes me think of the proverb: “Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Prov. 16:18
We are not all that and a bag of potato chips as Bro Godwin likes to remind us. We must not compare ourselves with one another but compare ourselves to Jesus. We will always come up short and see our need of our Savior when stop seeing ourselves superior to others. See though His eyes and let the mind of Christ be in us every day.

  19. Stand for something or fall for anything. Mordecai chose to stand on the thurth, that there is only one God. Not bowing down to the king was brave. Great faith

  20. 13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

  21. 9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.

10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.

  22. 10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.

This is a great example of how important it is to be careful of who we give position to in our lives. In this case a kingdom and the people of God. Hamann the Agagite is a proud and arrogant man with a bad grudge for the Jews to begin with. Mixing to two causes conflict. One the king should have evaluated before negligently giving him the power to destroy with his seal. Decisions these leaders make will effect an entire nation.

  23. There will be people like Haman in your life that pretend to help you but they are there to push their own agenda. Be careful of the people that try to deceive you and take advantage of you.

  24. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai

Mordecai shown us what true faith in God should be like? When we’re in a situation like this testing times will I give in or will I stand strong on Gods word? Immediately we like to respond and say we won’t bow but would we?

  25. 10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.

11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

In the world and work we must be very careful whom we allow to speak into our lives, to whom we give authority, and specially to whom we delegate for we will still be responsible for the outcomes.

  26. 2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?

Who will you serve and lay your trust on?

  27. 6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

If the enemy cannot get you to bow down and worship him then he will try and speak evil against you. Stand for what is right

  28. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

The world will try to get you to bow to their ways and belief. We must not bow down the anyone but God. No matter what the situation. God has to be the first and foremost in everything we do. I must not bow down to any tatic the enemy brings before me. It may cost me a lot , it may take a great sacrifice but if God before us who can be against us! Mordecai kept his belief in his God and God rewarded him greatly.

  29. God takes care of his people. The enemy will try different tactics to get us to give and turn out back on God. Greater is he that is within us. We are strong in Christ Jesus.

  30. 2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Even when others have set it in their hearts to worship another. It is our responsibility to follow Mordecais example and go against the crowd.

I’m sure he was taught the 10 commandments all of his life and understood the laws of God is greater than the ways of man.

  31. Esther 3:5-6 (KJV Strong’s)

No matter the threat, the challenge, or the mountain. Do the right thing. Even if everyone else is doing wrong still do the right thing. Study the word of God, and obey his word. He has your back.

  32. “If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.” The word of God (Judge) records Haman was not merely satisfied with the blood of Mordecai, for he also sought to destroy his family and others. Power and position has changed many throughout history, which the word of God is proof of the same (Haman, Saul, etc.). One that is wise will recognize while there is yet time; whereas one that is not, may not. Dear God, remove the spirt of self-righteousness. God Bless America, Israel, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  33. “And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.” Haman became upset because Mordecai would not bow. We should never become full of self, but rather humility, for the Lord hung on the cross for all. God let us see self as you do while there is yet time, in Jesus name.

  34. 2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Jesus I stand on your Word no matter what this world might say. Jesus is the only one I will bow down to. Thank you Lord for rescuing me. I put my trust and faith completely unto you Lord!!! Nothing else matters…..

  35. “Haman noticed that Mordecai wouldn’t get down on his knees. He wouldn’t give Haman any honor. So Haman burned with anger. But he had found out who Mordecai’s people were. So he decided not to kill just Mordecai. He also looked for a way to destroy all of Mordecai’s people. They were Jews. He wanted to kill all of them everywhere in the kingdom of Xerxes.

Then Haman said to King Xerxes, “Certain people are scattered among the nations. They live in all of the territories in your kingdom. Their practices are different from the practices of all other people. They don’t obey your laws. It really isn’t good for you to put up with them.”
    ‭‭Esther‬ ‭3:5-6, 8‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

Pride can make us do some strange things. Haman really was just trying to enforce the law that was set. The problem seems like he tried to take matters into his own hands. Pride will cause blindness and our hearts to be calloused. At the time our actions will seem right in your own eyes but in the end it’s destruction. Let God be God.

“There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, But its end is the way of death.”
    ‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  36. Esther 3:6 Yet having learned who Mordecai’s people were, he scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of Xerxes.

Called not just to know Him

    Philippians 1:29
    For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

When we defend or exercise our religious freedoms we are belittled and scorned for believing in Christ. Even Peter warns us.

    1 Peter 4:12 AMP
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.

So we can make good practice of telling our enemy like Jesus did satan,” Get the away from me, as it is written!”

We have a offensive weapon at our deposal, use it!

  37. And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.(Esther 3:2 KJV)

Mordecai didn’t bow down to Haman just because everyone else did. He stood up literally for what he believed in God. We too have to be careful who we reverence in our lives.

  38. The relentless persecution of Gods people only
Makes us stronger. If tough times are upon is the means that God is sharpening you right now.

  39. 13Dispatches were sent by swift messengers into all the provinces of the empire, giving the order that all Jews—young and old, including women and children—must be killed, slaughtered, and annihilated on a single day. This was scheduled to happen on March 7 of the next year. The property of the Jews would be given to those who killed them.

Another example of Jews being persecuted. Jews have been persecuted throughout history several times. But God has been with them and protected them. Another example of a King/dictator having to much power.
