Esther 9

1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.

3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.

4 For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.

5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.

6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,

10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.

11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.

12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.

13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.

16 But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,

17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,

21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,

22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;

24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

30 And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,

31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.

32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

  1. WHEN GOD BLESSES THE UNDERDOG

    24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;
    25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
    26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

    Haman had a plan to eliminate the Jews, satan no doubt filled his heart to devise such a plot. However, ONE PRAYING LADY say it is time for these GATES to come off. Esther called a 3 day fast and prayer meeting and GOD turned the tide.

    The underdog is the least likely to win. Everything said the Jews were to be executed and Mordecai the Jew was to be embarrassed and humiliated before all men. However, GOD took the evil plans of Haman and executed Haman, his family and thousands of his followers. But the Jews were preserved.

    We must REPENT of any evil we devise in our heart toward the people of GOD. Any plot or plans to trip up, discredit or destroy a child of GOD will be turned back when GOD BLESSES THE UNDERDOG.

    We must approach every decision and plan with humility and with the Kingdom of GOD in our best interest.

  2. Esther 9:3 For Mordecai was great in the king’s house and his fame went out thoughtout all the provinces for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater. Verse 22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy and from mourning into a good day that they should make them days of feasting and joy and of sending portions one to another and gifts to the poor.

    If it had not been for fasting and praying they would had never had the victory. Esther stepped out in faith that she would not parish but save her people. Let us today pray and fast for our pastor and his wife.

  3. 4 For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.

    The Lord puts up and takes down those he desires. We should never get to the place that we feel like God can’t accomplish His plan without us. As we can see in these chapters when the queen rebelled, God replaced her so that His plan would go on. Haman connived against Esther and the Jews and what he planned for him to be lifted up and honored, was turned around on the man that he hated. A person that is destined for great things must keep prayed up and humble, or God will replace them with someone with a humble attitude and right spirit.

  4. So on March 7 the two decrees of the king were put into effect. On that day, the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but quite the opposite happened. It was the Jews who overpowered their enemies. The Jews gathered in their cities throughout all the king’s provinces to attack anyone who tried to harm them. But no one could make a stand against them, for everyone was afraid of them. And all the nobles of the provinces, the highest officers, the governors, and the royal officials helped the Jews for fear of Mordecai.
    Esther 9:1‭-‬3 NLT
    God bless them by giving them power over there enemies
    We got the victory we got the victory

  5. Esther9:1-2 (NLT)
    1) So on March 7, the two decrees of the king were put into effect. On that day, the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but quite the opposite happened. It was the Jews who overpowered their enemies.
    2) The Jews gathered in the cities throughout all the King’s provinces to attack anyone who tried to harm them. But no one could make a stand against them, for everyone was afraid of them.

    The Jews had enemies who wished to destroy them, but they had the king on their side, so it didn’t matter who was against them.
    We too have enemies who wish to destroy us, but with GOD – the King of Kings – on our side, it doesn’t matter who comes against us.

    “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

  6. 22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

    As a church we should mourn, fight the enemy, and rejoice together!

  7. 2 The Jews gathered in their cities throughout all the king’s provinces to attack anyone who tried to harm them. But no one could make a stand against them, for everyone was afraid of them. (NLT)

    When I read this I remembered last night’s message from Bro. Guy. The gate was opened for the Jews and they triumphed as they walked trough their gates. Last night, Bro. Guy challenged us and asked how we would act when our gates finally opened…so whatcha gonna do?

  8. 27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;
    28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

    Remember. We must remember where God has brought us from and the many blessings that we have received from him. We may have many trials in life but remembering his goodness, his mercy, provision and his loving kindness will help us in the valleys of life. Be thankful and rejoice! God’s got our back.

  9. The devils plan for tbe jews, where to kill them all BUT God turned everything around and saved the jews. I have no doubt that God has me. Through every situation, God turns it around for my goid and His Glory, even when it dont look good or i dont understand why, Jesus Christ never fails and always shows up on time. Praise God

  10. 26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

    27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

  11. 31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.

    32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

  12. iLove to Grow in the Word
    “Mordecai the Jew became the prime minister, with authority next to that of King Xerxes himself. He was very great among the Jews, who held him in high esteem, because he continued to work for the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all their descendants.”
    ‭‭Esther‬ ‭10:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    The Old Testiment is full of stories like this where those who stood for truth and justice were exalted to great places of honor. God always repays those who work and sacrifice for him.

  13. 22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.
    God loves to turn things around for his people. If we live for Him and serve Him we will watch him make a way time and time again and reverse our situation!

  14. Esther 9:12 (KJV Strong’s)

    When it comes to the things of God don’t settle. Strive for all that God has for you. Not only did he want them to have victory over all their enemies, but he also wanted them to be blessed, and full of joy.

  15. The inheritance of sin

    13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

    Haman didn’t get away with what he was trying to do to the Jews but even worse his children paid the price also. We have to be so careful to lead our families to life and the one that gives life. There are many ways to die but you wouldn’t want to be the cause of your children’s death.

  16. 17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

    God wants us to have victory and wants us to be full of joy. We should remember and celebrate the victories for it is a time of feast.

  17. 10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.

    When the spoil could potentially cause more harm than good it is wiser to leave it. Why have to deal with the same evil in your future that your trying to destroy. Division and evil intentions cannot handle the place God is taking us so leAve it and anyone in it behind and March on to see where He’s taking us.

  18. Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in his name. We have the victory in Jesus name. The people of God have nothing to fear from the enemy. We are victorious.

  19. “The king’s order had to be carried out on the 13th day of the 12th month. That was the month of Adar. On that day the enemies of the Jews had hoped to win the battle over them. But now everything had changed. The Jews had gained the advantage over those who hated them.”
    ‭‭Esther‬ ‭9:1‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

    Thank you Jesus for fighting our battles!

    “When the way you live pleases the Lord, he makes even your enemies live at peace with you.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:7‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

  20. 13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

    Sad the sons had to be punished for haman sins . We don’t want our kids to suffer because we made horrible decisions, simple think before you act!

  21. 27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

  22. v5 Thus the Jews defeated all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, with slaughter and destruction, and did what they pleased with those who hated them.

    JESUS did not leave us unprepared to cope with life’s situations, but HE gave us HIS WORD (sword ) to use against the enemy.

  23. 5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.

    The hate the enemy has for the church is enormous. We have the privilege to have something that he once have, to be next the God. His mission is to kill and destroy the people of God.

    Even is the enemy has orders to kill us, to take our land and posses our goods and take our children, we have been given the authority by the King of kings to defend ourselves and our possessions. Jesus has already put the enemy under our feet. It’s up to us to smite the devils in this world and deal harshly against them. We are putting to the spiritual sword, the enemies of the most high God.

  24. 22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

    This is exactly what happens when the Lord delivers us, breaks the chains that are bounding us, and turns our sorrow into joy. The Lord is so amazing and powerful and everything is so much better when we serve and work for Him. I still remember the first day I received the HG, got baptized, and entered for the first time to POFW. Here is where I started knowing Jesus, where my faith grew, where I gave Him my all, where I sacrificed, where He fixed my marriage, where He delivered me, where He showed me the truth. He literally sent us here and for that I rejoice. Never in my mind I thought of being where I’m at right now and to know that this is only the beginning. 🙂 PRAISE GOD!!! Thank you Lord for being so GOOD TO US!!!!

  25. Verses 20-22 MSG “Mordecai wrote all this down and sent copies to all the Jews in all King Xerxes’ provinces, regardless of distance, calling for an annual celebration on the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar as the occasion when Jews got relief from their enemies, the month in which their sorrow turned to joy, mourning somersaulted into a holiday for parties and fun and laughter, the sending and receiving of presents and of giving gifts to the poor.” It reminded me of the song we sing “This Is How We Overcome”:

    Your light broke through my night
    Restored exceeding joy
    Your grace fell like the rain
    And made this desert live

    You have turned my mourning into dancing
    You have turned my sorrow into joy

    Your hand lifted me up
    I stand on higher ground
    Your praise rose in my heart
    And made this valley sing

  26. 29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

  27. “The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.”
    ‭‭Esther‬ ‭9:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Sometimes you have to leave things alone. They killed the people and left theirthings alone. They didn’t want to start thinking like them and acting like them. They were not jealous. They just needed to have their enemy driven out so they could survive.

  28. When is too much?

    I have never been persecuted or listed as one who is scheduled to die. I have been picked on and mistreated in my life. I carried a grudge for many years looking for my own revenge. Then, when I decided to give myself to the work of the Lord, i figured He would revenge me and tend to my enemies.

    Therefore I cannot comment too much on whether the extra killing and extended time to do it is warranted or not. I would predict is was warranted but but I am warning against un-forgiveness. We have all been taught the adverse affects of bitterness and not forgiving those who have done us wrong.

  29. Unlike Haman, who saw an opportunity of slaughtering the Jews a way to increase his wealth, the Jews only intention is to do away with their enemies in order to protect themselves and allow God’s judgement to be carried out. The king has given permission to plunder their enemies in vs 11. By refusing to enrich themselves through their victory, they are following Abraham’s example in Gen 14:22-24. The end result for the Jews of Persia is that their victory becomes a day of feasting and joy, gift giving and generosity to the poor not a day to delight in newly acuired wealth.

  30. 12 he called for Queen Esther. He said, “The Jews have killed 500 men in the fortress of Susa alone, as well as Haman’s ten sons. If they have done that here, what has happened in the rest of the provinces? But now, what more do you want? It will be granted to you; tell me and I will do it.”

    It seems like King Xerxes is blind, allowing Mordecai to fulfill his commands. We know, its God who has all things under control. It seems like a mini civil war is waging on. But it all comes down to defending yourself from the enemy.

  31. 13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

    14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.
