Job 5

1 Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

3 I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

4 His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

5 Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

6 Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

14 They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15 But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

  1. THE PROMISES OF GOD

20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

I see promises, everywhere I read the WORD of GOD. Even in times of distress, even when friends are questioning our, motive, intent and actions. They will in their accusation present truths of PROMISE.

May the LORD JESUS open our eyes, prepare our hearts, and speak to our lives in regard to THE PROMISES OF GOD.

JESUS shall redeem us from death in faimine and from the sword in war.

    MSG 20-27
“In famine, he’ll keep you from starving,
in war, from being gutted by the sword.
You’ll be protected from vicious gossip
and live fearless through any catastrophe.
You’ll shrug off disaster and famine,
and stroll fearlessly among wild animals.
    You’ll be on good terms with rocks and mountains;
wild animals will become your good friends.
You’ll know that your place on earth is safe,
you’ll look over your goods and find nothing amiss.
You’ll see your children grow up,
your family lovely and lissome as orchard grass.
You’ll arrive at your grave ripe with many good years,
like sheaves of golden grain at harvest.
“Yes, this is the way things are—my word of honor!
Take it to heart and you won’t go wrong.”

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  2. iLove to Grow in the Word

1“Cry for help, but will anyone answer you?
Which of the angels will help you?
    2Surely resentment destroys the fool,
    and jealousy kills the simple.
3I have seen that fools may be successful for the moment,
    but then comes sudden disaster.

Notice here that Job’s friend speaks words that are true. In fact, the whole chapter is his response to Job. But let’s think about this for a moment…At the end of the book of Job, these 3 friends of Job are rebuked for speaking against him. This tells me that even though these principles are God’s principles and are also Wisdoms of God, Eliphaz used it against Job to justify why he was going through everything that he was…”I have seen that fools may be successful for the moment (Job was the richest man in the east), but then comes sudden disaster (everything Job had was suddenly taken away).

So basically Job’s friend was calling him a fool.

  3. 11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
God has a unique way of lifting people up that no one ever thought would be exalted he also knows just how to takedown those you are not right with him. God loves the underdog he loves to take those who mourn and give them gladness he loves to take those that hurt and give him healing he loves to take those who are tired and give them spiritual rest.

  4. “So, what a blessing when God steps in and corrects you! Mind you, don’t despise the discipline of Almighty God! True, he wounds, but he also dresses the wound; the same hand that hurts you, heals you.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭5:17-18 MSG‬‬

Parents understand these terms. How quickly we forget though, when God corrects us. We may find ourselves amongst the dry bones of life and question God. We are led into these situations for a reason. How wonderful it would be to learn to pray for God to reveal the purpose for our situation instead of simply deliverance.

Who am I going to meet that this specific testimony is going to help? Lord help me stay sensitive to your leading and urging to be prepared for such a time.

A good father does not discipline his children just for the fun of it. We discipline for the future. To help our children understand right from wrong and make the best decisions they can make with the information they have available at the time.

How much more does our Heavenly Father love us?

  5. Prince of Peace feel my Neart and Meep me from any sin.

24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

Father let wherever I walk let me portray the peace that only You can give. And when I falter or lose sight for just a moment let my heart remeber your love will forever sustain me for you are my Prince of Peace.
Job continually gave his heart over to the Prince of Peace.

  6. Correction from God

17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

As a child I remember a few times where my parents had to correct me. And through life I have had mentors and elders correct me too. But nothing compares to God’s correction. Wow. When I look back and see all the correction I have gotten. I think about how it has helped me. The learning. The stretching. The failure. And the uprising. Rejoice not oh my enemies. For when I fall I shall arise.

Take the correction and lean from it. And move on.

    Be blessed.

  7. My God is so good. Every day i remind myself that the trials that i face, are for my good and Gods Glory. That God corrects His own. Glory to God. Thank you Jesus for loving me when i couldnt love myself vecause of shame. It is You, oh fathet who we all need to look too in our time of trials. You give good gifts and your chastity allows our faith, in You to grow. Im learning and growing, all because of You.

  8. 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

We need to take constructive criticism, especially when it comes from God. He does this to help us grow in our spiritual lives. We are not perfect, we will make mistakes. We need to be willing to own up to our mistakes and let God use us in that situation to learn from it.

  9. instead. Ask god for help he decided to complain. The ture help the ture heal comes by opening your mouth and confessing that you need help

  10. 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

Correction is not easy to receive. It is with a gentle hand and kind heart the Lord chaseneth us so that we might walk in His paths of righteousness. If the correction seems hard, we must check our heart and see if we are in alignment with His Word. If we stray then He has no choice but to correct.

  11. 11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

God exalts whoever he wants. Sometimes we feel like we can do the same but we cant forget who is the one who is in control. The will of God will be done regardless if we like it or not.

  12. Job 5:8-11 (NLT)
    8) If I were you, I would go to God and present my case to him.
    9) He does great things too marvelous to understand. He performs countless miracles.
    10) He gives rain for the earth and water for the fields.
    11) He gives prosperity to the poor and protects those who suffer.

Thank You JESUS that we can cast our cares upon You because You care about us. Thank You JESUS that You are doing great things in my life right now that are too marvelous for me to understand. Thank You JESUS that you’re going to perform a miracle for me. Thank You JESUS for You are going to prosper me and You are protecting me during this time in my life.

What a GREAT and MIGHTY GOD we serve!!

  13. 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

God corrects us out of love not disgust and anger. I’m greatful that even if I disappointment Him Hr won’t leave me but correct me.

  14. 15 But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

He is the author and finisher of our faith, so he must lead, guide and correct his children. Our hope is in him and we must allow him to show us his way.

  15. 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

  16. Our hope is in the Lord. We can not doubt what God has put into place. We must trust the Lord and know that everything will turn out alright.

  17. 2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one

I saw a man loosing his mind on the freeway because someone cut him off. He got up beside the person making rude and obseine gestures. He was going back and forth from one lane to another trying to scare the other car full of people. This went on for a a few minutes and then when the man wasn’t paying attention he ran up on to the median and crashed into a sign. He could have traded his foolishness for forgiveness and kept his truck.

  18. Olivia- didn’t be afraid of the beasts of the field.

Joseph-we should not be afraid of the things that chase after you.

    Michael- verse 2
When someone is envious hen they are foolish.

Nicole-“Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This verse never gets old. Sometimes people complain about the things in their life. We all need to stop and consider if it is God’s way of getting on to us. It’s a way for us to evaluate how much we seek, listen. And obey the voice of God.

  19. Job 5:17-18 (MSG)
17 “So, what a blessing when God steps in and corrects you!
Mind you, don’t despise the discipline of Almighty God!
    18 True, he wounds, but he also dresses the wound;
the same hand that hurts you, heals you.

The hurt, pain, sorrow, and grief that we feel sometimes is not God hurting us because he takes pleasure in it. He doesn’t get joy from seeing us suffer. But just like the leaves pruned from the tree, God cuts the dead from us so that we can live. He cuts the useless, the weak, and the branches that prevent growth and fruit. In the end we are in a much better place having been cut.

  20. “And envy slayith the silly one.”
If you are envious you miss out on what god is trying to do because you are too focused on the situation of another person.

  21. Thank you Jesus for loving us enough to correct us in wrong doings and bless us with our wants and needs. Correction is hard to take sometimes in fact alot of the time but God is always good and faithful to help us understand.

  22. 17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Its a wonderful thing to be corrected by God, Hebrews 12:6 For those whom the Lord loves he disciplines. And he scourges every son whom he receives.
Sometimes its hard to accept discipline from God, but if we are not disciplined by him then we dont belong to him: Hebrews 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Thank you Jesus for the Holy Ghost, Baptism in Jesus name and correction.

  23. 21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

In times of trouble; when you seek God: He will hide you from the enemy.
God knows when to help me and when to let my actions steer me through a storm. As long as I stay faithful; no matter the situation. God will always be my beacon through the darkness. He will light the path that I’m walking down. He is an awesome God and provider. Thank you Jesus……Amen!!!!

  24. Verse 17 CEV “Consider yourself fortunate if God All-Powerful chooses to correct you.” Verse 19 CEV “God will protect you from harm, no matter how often trouble may strike.”

Psalm 121:7-8 MSG “God guards you from every evil, he guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.”

  25. 14 They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15 But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

I understand what these verses are saying a little bit.

  26. 3 I have seen that fools may be successful for the moment, but then comes sudden disaster. (NLT)

When something happens that we can’t quite get our minds wrapped around remember this verse. Only for a moment will it last and God will bring the joy and peace we hoped for.

  27. Eliphaz’s conclusions about the cure for Jobs suffering are totally off base. He wrongly assumes that Job has sinned and is being disciplined: thus he needs to repent and seek God’s mercy. While Eliphaz’s assumptions about what God is up to in Jobs life is wrong, he does highlight a great truth about being a child of God. In God’s mercy he wounds us at just the right time for our unique situation (Hebrew 12:5-11). The painful consequences of our disobedience are gifts from a loving God whose only desire is to draw us closer to his side, where joy awaits us (Ps 16:11).

  28. For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.(Job 5:2 KJV)

God judges those whom deliberately disobey and seek to live wreckless lives. Job is identifying that he is no such man but those who chose to live wrong will die badly. A person who is foolish will die by wrath and pain. A silly person will die because of envy. Job knows the price of sin and we would do well to learn from Job even in our troubles not to turn to foolishness for comfort because it will only destroy.

  29. 11. To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

God knows that all of us have seasons of mourning. He is always there to protect us while we are low and vulnerable, and to remind us that it is only for a season.

    Matthew 5:4
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

  30. 27“We have studied life and found all this to be true.
Listen to my counsel, and apply it to yourself.

We all should have someone that we can talk too. Have a friend, relative or spouse to confide in. Someone that will guide you in godly counseling. Someone that will encourage you at all times.
