Job 6

1 But Job answered and said,

2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

5 Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?

6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!

9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?

12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;

16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:

17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.

20 They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.

21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.

22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?

23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy’s hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.

28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

  1. AMP 4 – “Teach me, and I will be silent;
And show me how I have erred.

It’s never easy to look inside oneself and find that you have erred. It is the grace and mercy that the Lord extends to us when we have erred that He would show us wronged ways through prayer, His word or the Man of God. Yet some are so full of pride when the error of their way is brought to light that they can’t change their path, or repent of their ways.

Lord help us to humble ourselves in your sight and be grateful that you shine the light of your word in our lives.

  2. 24 Teach me, and I will keep quiet. Show me what I have done wrong. (NLT)

Simple yet powerful words that few would brave to say.

Teach me Jesus!! Teach me elders!! JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!!

  3. In this chapter job is humbling his self and asking forgive. But he also asking for god to touch him.
You can’t never get so in yourself And your problem that you forget WHO GOD is. The time you start forget WHO GOD IS that the time you start doubt god, whining and grumbling. You start to miss pray and outreach after that you leave the church.

When we doubt god and question who he is. We will fall

We are not nothing without GOD we are lost and hopeless bond and broken

With god we are heal we are protective and free

So always remember this don’t fall into yourself and problem that you forget the KING OF KING LORD OF LORD THE ALL MIGHTY THE FIRST AND THE LAST THE BEGINNING AND THE END JEHOVAH JESUS

  4. THE UNEXPLAINABLE ACTIONS OF GOD

Some attempt to spiritualize or reason every act that happens to be some lesson or judgement from the LORD. In times of distress our friends need an ear not a detective or investigator.

Job pleads his cause with his friend. He did not ask a question, he made a statement of despair to which no human being held an answer for. There are situations in life that will pose this challenge to us. We will have no answer, no reason, no cause, no purpose. We could find ourselves feeling as if we have no purpose.

We confuse ourselves and or others if we attempt to reason away and excuse every UNEXPLAINABLE ACT of GOD. We must resolve to allow GOD to be GOD and live a life of FAITH in HIS presence.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  5. 13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

God dwells in us and does not forsake us. When everything seems to be crumbling down, remember that God has set a way out to what He let’s you walk into.

  6. 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
    Texas

Teaching will not be effective if I’m not willing to hold my tongue and listen. .. without listening I cannot know how I have erred and what mistakes I’ve made. Lord help me to hold my tongue and receive correction.

  7. 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

You know we pray and asked God to reveal what in our hearts, and when he does, we are in self denial and ignore the very thing that possibly can keep us from heaven. If were honest with ourselves we aren’t truly ready to change. We have to make sure that we truly seek out our lives and if God’s said to get rid of something so we will be fully submitted and committed to him JUST DO IT. It defeats the purpose to pray for a covering over our lives when we’re picking and choosing what we want to change.

Lord your ways are higher than my ways and your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. Lord help me to always strive to be just like you and if there’s anything that’s in me that shouldn’t be help me to take the steps that I need too change!

  8. Job 6:24, “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.”

Sometimes it’s good to just Listen to the Word of God that is being taught, because it’s usually during that time that God is giving us understanding of His Word and showing us the error of our ways.

Thank you JESUS, for when I read your word, You give me understanding of your word, so that I can see the errors of my ways and repent.
Thank you Pastor for teaching us the Truth of God’s Word, for when you do, it gives us understanding and teaches us the error of our ways and causes us to repent.

  9. When we see our friends or family go through the valleys of life, we naturally try to lift them up or console them. But we can’t know the reason why they are going through the rough times and should refrain from trying to tell them what is happening and why. It is enough sometimes for us to comfort and pray for them, not analyze their situation.

  10. Wow everything Job said is very deep. Job was a blameless and full of complete integrity. As humans we are all going to go through problems that only God can fix. Many times we like To solve everything alone but were not God. He is the only Almighty all Powerful Lord!!!! In you I trust Lord!!!!

  11. Oh Lord teach me that my ear and heart be turned to you only. Correct me so that i will turn back to you and Love me in the way, only You oh God can

  12. 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Yes Lord many times I have opened my mouth before thinking. Help me Lord to hold my tongue when ended but yet speak with an authority in the Holy Ghost when I need to. In Jesus Name.

  13. This chapter in the AMP is captioned with “Job’s Friends Are No Help”. Somethings and situations are not for us to discern or figure out; but rather just be there and be supportive for whoever is going through something. It is not our place to question, accuse or assume anything. Proverbs 17:17 MSG is captioned “One Who Knows Much Says Little” “Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.”

  14. 28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

Job lived a life pleasing unto God, but he become proud in his lifestyle of trying to live holy. He didn’t think that he ever commited a sin. All have fallen short of the glory of God, Job was certainly no exception to that. So Job acting like the perfect man that got scorned by God, did not help his case and was something he had to repent of later on in the book.

  15. iLove Grow in the Word
14“One should be kind to a fainting friend,
but you accuse me without any fear of the Almighty.

Over and over we find that Job was trying to convince his friends that he had done no harm. According to the context of these scriptures, we see that we should be kind to friends that are faint in tribulations instead of accusing them of doing something wrong.

  16. Jobs pain is relentless and only escape from life feels like the best or only option. Knowing taking his own life is a sin he leaves his fate up to his Creator. As much as he would like to be done with the agony he doesn’t consider ending it himself. His only consolation is believing that he has not brought dishonor to the God he loves. He remains true through the painful circumstances. When we suffer we gain encouragement and strength as we endure anguish without denying our faith or taking our fate into our own hands.

  17. Teach me, and I will keep quiet. Show me what I have done wrong. Honest words can be painful, but what do your criticisms amount to?
    Job 6:24‭-‬25 NLT

The word teaches us to rejoice with those that rejoice and to weep with those that weep…to be a brother and share life’s moments, but it never says to criticise your neighboor/brother.

  18. 1 But Job answered and said,

2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

When things happen that we cant explain or understand, we grieve and search for an answer, but the weight of the grief is so heavy at times that there are no words that can describe how we are feeling. When we turn to God he gives us the peace we need at the time and it somehow out weighs that grief, and then soon everything seems to work out and we have the understanding that is needed, we may not know why, or have the answer we are looking for, but we have the understanding God wants to have in our time of need!

  19. 10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?

12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

To have the kind of strength that Job had. That is my prayer; for the strength to stand through the storm. Knowing that there is a light on the other side. To be able to say that I made it with God guiding me and not falling due to man’s intervention. To many times I have allowed the influence of man run me away from God. Not any more; I know that I have erred in the eyes of God, but I know that He is still with me and guiding me.

  20. Job 6:8-10 (MSG)
    Pressed Past the Limits
8 “All I want is an answer to one prayer,
a last request to be honored:
9 Let God step on me—squash me like a bug,
and be done with me for good.
10 I’d at least have the satisfaction
of not having blasphemed the Holy God,
before being pressed past the limits.

Job has it right. No matter how hard life may be, no matter how much suffering, and sorrow we face, all that matters in the end is how was our relationship with Jesus.

Did we allow him to lead us, and guide us? Did we trust him in the dark times as well as the good times? Was he our first response, or our last resort?

    Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV Strong’s)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

  21. For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.(Job 6:4 KJV)

Job can feel the pain so strong that it feels like poison. This kind of pain can effect his spirit, causing so much sorrow. The sort that make him want to end the agony but he knows the victory of the Lord if he hangs on. When we feel this poison we have the same choice if we allow it to fill us with bitterness and anger or bring us closer to God and submission.

  22. For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.(Job 5:2 KJV)

God judges those whom deliberately disobey and seek to live wreckless lives. Job is identifying that he is no such man but those who chose to live wrong will die badly. A person who is foolish will die by wrath and pain. A silly person will die because of envy. Job knows the price of sin and we would do well to learn from Job even in our troubles not to turn to foolishness for comfort because it will only destroy.

  23. Job 6:29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

    Please leave!

I still remember when I have gone through things that I have needed someone to be there for me. Sometimes you need words of encouragement and sometimes you need words of chastisement.

There has been times that I have said,”please leave”. It’s a time to take that only God can do something about. Some with the intent to help, worsen the situation, so if next time I tell you to leave, it’s probably the best thing for the both of us.

  24. 13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

It is too easy to forget what God can do and what God has done for us when we are in our lowest valleys. The present outweighs the future many times. We believe and know that God can and will provide a way of escape. However, we still tend to question God about his choices and timing.

Psalm 121 1-2 I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.

  25. “To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Job 6:14 (ESV) 14 “He who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

I wonder how many times our friends have had situations where they have been drastically hurt or afflicted and we don’t show kindness to them? Kindness can be shown in a variety of ways. That is the beauty in friendship. It can be simple acts of conversation, actions done to help the friend, or actions done for that person. There are so many ways to show the love of Christ to our brothers and sisters or friends.

  26. 13. Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

    Colossians 1:27
“… Christ IN you, the hope of glory”

    Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  27. 10 At least I can take comfort in this: Despite the pain, I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

The pain Job is suffering is of a physical nature. He continues to recognize its not spiritual pain. He could easily curse God, but continues to give God glory, honor and praise.
