Job 12

1 And Job answered and said,

2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

5 He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

  1. Verse 13 NLT “But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.” Same verse MSG “True wisdom and real power belong to God; from him we learn how to live, and also what to live for.”

1 Corinthians 1:24 NLT “But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles,[a] Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Acts 17:28 AMP “For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of [a]your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’

  2. Sorry, I had one more scripture to add:

Hebrews 12:1-3 MSG “Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” Let us GO in 2017!

  3. 10 For the life of every living thing is in his hand, and the breath of every human being. (NLT)

So why then complain? Why then question the will of God, voice of God, and hand of God? Jesus, You are God alone! You alone have all power in Your hand; You alone are in control; You alone are the God of all that is good. You give and take away according to such times that You have appointed. Help us God to not grumble and complain but to be grateful for such a day as this that You have made, a day that You have allowed us another opportunity to serve You.

  4. WHEN GOD HUMBLES MAN

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

In the response of Job to his friends or accusers, he initiates a TRUTH in regards to the power of GOD. GOD is able to humble the highest of rank. Regardless of financial, political or social status. Every King of old has died as the WORD of GOD declares save the KING of KINGS named JESUS.

Job reminds his friends that in a moment, a split second, JESUS cause even the greatest of men to wander, grope and stagger. We too should humble ourselves under the mighty hand of GOD and be willing and obedient to the plan of GOD.

JESUS help is today to submit and surrender to your mighty plan.

15If he holds back the rain, the earth becomes a desert.
If he releases the waters, they flood the earth.

I knew it! I knew it! Wow, there it is… a scripture that proves global warming is from God and not man. Wow, the pride and arrogance of man thinking that he is making the world a warmer place. God is in control and we need to recognise that.

2 Peter 3:10 NLT But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

    That’s Global Warming

  6. All wisdom comes from god. And job knew that

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

    Without god we are nothing

  7. NIV Verse 13 To God belongs wisdom and power, counsel and understanding are his.

ALL belongs to God , we can never allow anything to become our god. There is no other mightier than He.

  8. 16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

It’s hard to understand that the deceived and the deceiver are the Lords, but there are times when people want to believe something so bad, that the Lord turns them over to that deception and they actually believe it to be gospel.

Lord, help us to be sensitive to you that we recognize when we are being deceived.

  9. 12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
Can you be wise and young? Absolutely, recieving wisdom means experience to me. You can read instructions on how to take a car engine apart and understand it but you dont gain the wisdom until you experience it hands on.
With wisdom come strength; emotionally, physically, and spiritually. When you go through a heart break young you gain experience on “how to not” get your heart broke again. I know now my heart will never be in a dark place like it was….not with GOD on my side anyways

  10. 7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Somewhere along the way we lost the knowledge that God is in control of all things. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away . Nature itself tells us that God is in control and everything works towards his glory. Don’t be so quick to give the devil credit for things he doesn’t deserve. Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
We may not understand all things but we know God is using it for the good of us.

  11. God gives and taketh as He pleases. When we put more focus on an object instead of God. He will remove that object so that we can see that He is God and almighty and without Him, we are powerlesd butvwith Him we are strong. These last 5 months have been a struggle for me. I didnt ask God why. I simply asked ” God how far will you let me fall?” and in each time that tbe enemy could have taken my life, Jesus said ” your fall will not kill you”. Father God i trust and believe you. I may not be driving the car that i want, living where i want to live or making the money that i want but Thank God for giving me tne understanding of the importance if being humble

  12. 14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

My soul must be completely changed,BROKEN like it used to be with JESUS

  13. 10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

With all power in His hand, he holds our future, so we mustn’t fear but place our trust in Him!

  14. 15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth

God is in control of our lives. He has purpose in holding our blessing and the timing he gives them out.

  15. Job 12:10, “In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.”

God created all things, and it’s in Him that we live, and move, and have our being.

  16. 25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

Without the light of the world, Jesus, we are lost in the dark trying to find our way to the light. So don’t walk away from the light, especially in dark seasons in your life. The more you walk away, the easier it will be for you to get lost.

  17. 13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

We may not know exactly what he is doing in our lives sometimes, but we can humble ourselves and approach him on how to handle things properly as we go through it. Having the right spirit goes a long way.

  18. 23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
This whole chapter shows me that God is in charge in every aspect. It shows that He controls the nations and increases and destroys them when he so desires. He lifts people up and lowers them down at his discretion. He is in control! If we never forget that our lives will be more peaceful.

  19. Beware of too much worldly knowledge

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

All wisdom and understanding is His!!! Sometimes we inquire so much worldly knowledge than can destroy our faith if we are not careful. We should be aware of God’s wisdom, understanding, and His purpose in our lives. The world may fall apart and we may lose everything we had but even then we must remain faithful to our God knowing that He cares for you. When the cares of this world fall upon you always remember Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  20. Job 12:13 (MSG)
From God We Learn How to Live
    13 “True wisdom and real power belong to God;
from him we learn how to live,
and also what to live for.

God teaches us how to live life and then gives us purpose. He shows is the goal, the target, the goal line, the finish line, and the eighteenth hole.

True effectiveness comes from knowing who we are and where we are. This world is temporary and it will all pass away. Living for this place is futile. Live for the kingdom and see eternity impacted.

  21. So when tough times come and we seek what direction we need to go when the answer os right in front of our faces. We forget about the one who holds the world in his hands, our creator who know the end from the beginning. Why should I be afraid? I need to trust him he will never set you up for failure.

  22. Job 12:4 “I have become a laughingstock to my friends, though I called on God and he answered— a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!

Most of what Job was saying was things that I could agree with but this. One of the only statements that he blamed God for hurting his pride. Why was he worried if being made fun of? If I were in his shoes that would be the last thing on my mind.

  23. God doesn’t need our permission to do what he’s going to do. True obedience is tested when you don’t know why and you do it without question. Job was teaching this point. When something happens in our lives that we don’t understand we can’t just jump to carnal conclusions and throw our hands in the air and start the blame game. Pastor taught me along time ago that we have to look for the lesson in every trial. God has his way of teaching us that most of the time we don’t understand until after we are out of the trial looking back. Then he reveals his plan. I believe he does it this way so that we trust him. Just like the Sheppard that breaks the sheeps leg and then carries him around until he’s healed, the sheep has no idea why until he is healed and looks back to the Sheppard knowing now what was really going on.

  24. 16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

God is the only one that can give us strength. He completes us and makes us whole. Without you Lord we are nothing. Help me Lord this year grow more and be more like you. I have a purpose and nothing is going to stop me!!!!! I will grow your kingdom and live for you for the rest of my life.

  25. 9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Even Job knew that the Lords hand was in this! Even through all that he is experiencing he still trusted and believed that God was and is always in control! I believe that Jobs friends were pretty much grasping at straws as to what the cause of Jobs situation. But Job always gave praise to God! and he knew that God would bring him out of this situation!

  26. 10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

My soul is in the hands of the Lord: through Him I gain wisdom and understanding of my life. The Lord is my counselor, redeemer, the author of my faith. He puts those in my path that I can trust to give me guidance through His word. To many times I have ran from God’s counsel; to many times I have had excuses as to why I couldn’t trust in the Lord with my life. Not any more; there are leaders in my life that are going to help keep me going in the right direction. Thank you Jesus for bring your word and guidance into my life…..Amen!!!!!

  27. Olivia-God can shut up a man where he can’t talk

Michael- Whatever Jesus does no one can undo.

    Nicole-
“He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭12:20 KJV

Job 12:20 (HCSB) 20 He deprives trusted advisers of speech and takes away the elders’ good judgment.

Job 12:20 (ESV) 20 He deprives of speech those who are trusted and takes away the discernment of the elders.

The elders and the aged have great wisdom. They have lived expirences through their life that has taught them lessons that can not be learned any other way. Their expirences give them great knowledge that they are able to pass on to others. Unfortunately sometimes these things are lost. Our respected elders sometime can no longer share their wisdom because their minds do not allow them. No matter how hard it is for us to understand, we have to realize that God allowed them to have wisdom and God has allowed their wisdom to no longer be shared. This becomes a very painful experience for those of us who love and care for our experienced elders to watch them go through. We must love them and trust that God knows what he is doing, even when we don’t understand.

  28. 23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

God raises up those whom he chooses and takes down leaders and nations that are on the wrong path. He enlarges them and sets them on the path he designed for them. When we go into deeper waters he will lead us and guide us.

  29. Job12:13 To God belongs wisdom and power counsel and understanding are his. What he tears down cannot be rebuilt those he imprison cannot be released. If he holds back the water’s there is drought if he let’s them loose they devastate the land. To him belong strength and insight both deceived and deceiver are his.

    Trust in the Lord always

  30. 24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

We have been wandering for many years in this country. The people of this country have been wandering for so long a worse choice was almost chosen. Now, decent leadership has been restored. We must hold on for a few more weeks.

  31. In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
    (Job 12:10 KJV)

Like David, Job recognizes his humanized state. That we are merely beings that God has formed and created for himself. Everything we are and do is known of God. When we surrender to him and humble ourselves to his will we allow him to use us as he designed. We are nothing without our maker.

  32. 14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

There are somethings in life that I have given over to God and He broke it down and Ive never had to deal with it again. I am so thankful that I serve a God that has all power in His hands and once I truly release things into His hands I no longer worry about it.

  33. Job had no doubt who GOD is as we should do. Even in the hardest time when he lost everything he knew God was, is and will always be the same. Job should be our example to follow and know that no matter what we go thru God will never leave us or forsake us. He will turn our mourn in to joy.

  34. ““But [only] with Him are [perfect] wisdom and might; He [alone] has [true] counsel and understanding.”
    ‭‭JOB‬ ‭12:13‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Thank you Jesus for you are God alone!

  35. “But true wisdom and power are found in God;
    counsel and understanding are his.”

TRUE wisdom and power come from God alone!

  36. 4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
This hits close to home, we are going to be laughed at, made fun of, talked about, but then again so was Jesus and we are no better than he is. The difference is how are we going to handle the situations. Let people talk cause they are, the way you handle things is how they are looking at you to see what kind of person you truly are. Let your light shine.

  37. 3 Well, I know a few things myself— and you’re no better than I am.
Who doesn’t know these things you’ve been saying?

Job understands what he is going through. No one has to tell him. In the long run, his trials will strengthen his relationship with God. He will use this experience as a testimony for others.
