Job 37

1 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.

2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.

4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.

9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.

10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.

11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:

12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.

13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.

14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?

17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?

18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.

20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.

21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.

23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

  1. Wow, what a description of Almighty God and His works. Verse 24 AMP says “Men therefore fear Him; He does not regard nor respect any who are wise in heart [in their own understanding and conceit].” Once again as Rev. Emory preached, God is not impressed on how much you think you know about Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP says “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. [a]In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

Proverbs 3:5-12 MSG says “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.”

  2. 14. Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

    Exodus 14:13
“…Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord…”

    Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Sometimes we get too busy and caught up with what we’re about that we neglect to take the time to be still and know who God is and what He is about.

  3. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

This is humbling and empowering at the same time. To have even a small understanding of just how mighty God is… to think, to meditate on that I’m moved to a place of wonder and reverence. God, You are so glorious! Mighty! Excellent! I feel like I’m so small and my praises are not enough to describe how great You are, but I will praise You for You made me to be an instrument of praise!

  4. Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.

23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

  5. What a great and majestic God that we serve. Creator of all things and Savior of humanity. And yet he longs for a relationship with us!

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  6. Job 37:2 (MSG)
2 Listen to it! Listen to his thunder,
the rolling, rumbling thunder of his voice.

Elihu is making a great dissertation. He is listening to the thunder and not even realizing that God himself is in the whirl wind. God is in the storm.

Every word that Elihu is speaking whether true or false is being said right in the face of the almighty. It’s almost as if the end of Elihu’s speech grants him this smugness, as if to say “now I got him.”

But now we see the purpose of the storm in Job’s life. God was in the midst of if, but Job and his friends were revealed through it.

So in short the storm is to make you, the storm was designed for you, and God is always right in the middle of if!

  7. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

So much word to describe the love and mercy of god he is everything we need him to be

  8. Job 37:5, “God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.”
We serve a great and powerful God! When I think of the majestic wonder of God I am amazed. I’m also thankful that he would save a wretch like me!

  9. 2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

Wow! The power of God’s voice is so amazing!!

  10. 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

Be still and know that I Am God.
Everywhere in the Bible there was a moment of being still. Even when David stood before Goliath he stood still for a moment.
    O Job stand still,
Why would God tells us to be still? In the stillness of the darkest night just before the break of dawn is the brightest star called the Day Star. It is only in the darkness of the night can we view this star. If we allow all that we are going through to keep us in such a turmoil we are going to miss the wonderful works God has and if we are not patient we could miss the greatest opportunity God has planned for us.
So help me Lord to Hearken to the words that were said to Job to stand still and see Your wonderful works. Lef my focus be on what you are doing right now ,not the past not the future but the now in being still.

  11. Dear God, no wait…
Hello God, no that’s not right either…

    19. If you’re so smart, give us a lesson in how to address God. MSG

It is astonishing that we can approach the Creator of the universe – at all. Sometimes we may find ourselves going through the motions of prayer as a ritualized duty and entering His house with a lack of respect that in other arenas could get us into deep trouble. I have done both. I have prayed over my food with such irreverence that I deserved to get sick; my prayer was insincere and hurried to complete the duty and not show the respect God deserves. I have entered His courts without praise, worship or even good thoughts/intentions in mind or in my heart.

    Shame on me

With our new president, I have been toying with the idea of taking a trip to DC and going on a White House tour. In thinking of this trip my mind gradually wandered to “What if I meet President Trump – face-to-face?” Should any man on this earth receive more respect, gratitude and praise than what I give to Jesus?

God is (_____) There are too many ways to address, describe and name God. He is absolutely perfect in every way. Approaching Him calls for humility and childlike trust, not self-importance and pride. For it is by grace that He draws us to Himself. It is good for us when we feel unworthy as we approach God, for it humbles us to rely on Him alone.

  12. 4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

God is all powerful. He’s in control of everything. Without question he’ll give it and take it away just like that no one but him knows why he does what he does. Give God the glory for he is good. Let his light shine on you and glorify his great name. Let thunder be your sign that our father is working on your behalf he only knows what he has planned for you.

22So also, golden splendor comes from the mountain of God.
He is clothed in dazzling splendor.
    23We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty;
but even though he is just and righteous,
    he does not destroy us.
24No wonder people everywhere fear him.
All who are wise show him reverence.

According to this chapter in Job, the unpredictable weather patterns of this world were set into motion by God himself in order to remind man to fear God. Notice the following verse, “12The clouds churn about at his direction.
They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
13He makes these things happen either to punish people
or to show his unfailing love.”

God could have made the weather patterns of this earth peaceful and quiet. He could have made rain just sprinkle down from heaven and he could have bypassed every storm…but there is just something about a monster storm that puts the fear of God back into folks…and that’s just the point…it reminds us that there is something bigger than us out there and you better get your heart right during this storm. Boom.

  14. 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

We live in a fast moving society. So the question we must ask ourselves is when was the last time Instopped and considered the wondrous works of God? We are commissioned to Go reach this region. Yet as we go we should also take time to stop and have a worship moment or “praise break” for once we stand still and meditate on how He’s keeping us and who He is we will become excited and shout for Joy! O

  15. Tokens of God’s might: raindrops, thunderstorms, snow, ice, and clouds. In light of these examples of greatness, Job is admonished to listen v.14 Hearken unto this,O Job : stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

Man is too limited in knowledge (vv.15-20) to speak to, approach, or understand such a God (vv.21-23). Therefore, man must fearGod.

Psalm 111:2 The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

  16. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

If I could have I would have put the whole chapter on here. If we really think about it. We would see just how amazing God is. From the skies to the earth, from east to west. Wow everything that God has put into motion. What a great testament to his greatness. How can we think that we are greater than this? We are nothing, yest God created us to worship him. Think about that, US, me and you. He created us to worship him and take care of this great earth. Wow we serve and great and awesome God.

  17. The Lord our God created everything. He has all power and is almighty. This chapter demonstrates some of the wonderous works of God. Father God please continue to teach me to appreciate everything about you. The goid and the bad vecause with you, the bad ( hard rain) is also good

  18. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

We serve a mighty and powerful! God we should be under estimate God. He doesn’t make mistakes.

  19. After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back.
    Job 37:4 NIV

    Definition of resounds
(of a sound, voice, etc.) fill a place with sound; be loud enough to echo.

In our life there are a lot of voices that speak to us. Some are good and some are bad. We are influenced by some of these voices and live according to what is spoken into our lives. What we need is to get to a place where we can hear His majestic voice roaring in our heart and in our Spirit. We need His voice to be resounding constantly, more than any other voice. Why? Because when we get to that place where we hear His roar like a mighty rushing wind there is revival and fire. We need His voice to echo ( resound) in our lives daily.

    ACTS 2:1‭-‬4 AMP
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place, and suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. There appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were being distributed [among them], and they rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit]. And they were all filled [that is, diffused throughout their being] with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues (different languages), as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out [clearly and appropriately].

  20. 13 “Whether [it be] for correction, or for His earth [generally]
Or for [His] mercy and lovingkindness, He causes it to happen. AMP

Nothing happens without God – the Blessing or the Trial. God’s involved in it all!

  21. 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

The voice of God does things beyond our comprehension. God spoke our world into existence. He created everything we know by saying let there be. He speaks and the world works, without Gods voice then nothing would exist. God voice put everything in motion. God is still speaking today.

    1 Kings 19:11-12
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

We don’t hear God in the craziness of everyday life. He speaks in a still small voice. We need to seek out a place of quiet and refuge and listen for him. Yes God can speak to the storms but we need to separate ourselves from the distraction of the storm into a place with God. Let the storm billow and blow, it’s not going anywhere as long as you are allowing it to toss you to and fro. Step away and seek God the one who is the prince of peace who can speak peace into your soul and absolve your storm.

  22. 23-24 “Mighty God! Far beyond our reach!
    Unsurpassable in power and justice!
It’s unthinkable that he’d treat anyone unfairly.
So bow to him in deep reverence, one and all!
If you’re wise, you’ll most certainly worship him.” MSG

Amen!!! He loves us so much that he gives us so many opportunities to turn to Him and leave everything behind. The Lord is my strength and my rock!!!! I will worship you and bow down to you ALWAYS Jesus! I can’t even breathe without you much less live my life without you Lord!!! My decisions, attitude, belief, and love will either bless or curse my family and those around me!!! I’ve made up in my mind that if I want to see my family and those around me saved….it has to start with ME!!!! I am the one that will either bless or curse generations….Jesus Help Me!!!! Can’t do this without you!!!

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isiah 6:8

  23. MSG – “Mighty God! Far beyond our reach!
    Unsurpassable in power and justice!
It’s unthinkable that he’d treat anyone unfairly.
So bow to him in deep reverence, one and all!
If you’re wise, you’ll most certainly worship him.”

Can you imagine the presence of God that must have showed up with Elihu began to describe the wonder and awesomeness of our God!!! I know all of those sitting in that circle must have had the hair on their arm stand to attention when God was exalted in such a manner.

And to think God never changes. He is just as majestic and wonderful now as He was then. We should have even a greater awe because they did not have the Spirit of God living in them, they just felt His presence. We have His Spirit living in us and carry Him with us everyday. What a privilege it is to know Him in such a manner. We are truly blessed.

  24. GO FIND GOD

23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

The idea that we search for GOD in the depths of HIS own creation is compelling. We are on a lifelong quest to find HIM out. He frequently allows us a glimpse into HIS glory and nature. However as we KNOW and are learning JESUS is excellent in POWER, JUDGEMENT and JUSTICE.

As we GO in our daily activities, we find ourselves seeking and searching for answers, provisions and direction. This daily quest is how JESUS chose to build our FAITH in HIM from the foundation of the world.

Lets continue to GO FIND GOD every single day. When we fall, just jump right back up and gontinue on the journey to seeking GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork

  25. 13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

God controls the soft rains as well as the great storms for these reason listed in vs 13 and in the next verse we see we are to consider these works of God. We get so busy in our life’s routines that we do need to stop and consider what God is doing all around us-even in the weather. We pray for rain, then pray to evade the tornado but do we stop and consider God? What is his purpose? He is trying to get the attention of people to see that they have need of him in every aspect of their lives.

  26. ““Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God! Do you know how God controls the storm and causes the lightning to flash from his clouds?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭37:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In the middle of your storm it’s always important to stop, be still and listen for directions from God!!

  27. ““Mighty God! Far beyond our reach! Unsurpassable in power and justice! It’s unthinkable that he’d treat anyone unfairly. So bow to him in deep reverence, one and all! If you’re wise, you’ll most certainly worship him.””
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭37:23-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

  28. Vs 23
    Esv version
    Vs 23.
The Almighty we cannot find him he is great in power justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate

  29. 6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

Personally for me this shows that God will close every single door in your life just to show you the one that only he is opening. To let you know he is still in charge and that he is to be glorified.

  30. 4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

Oh what a mighty God we serve. There are so many things God has done that we can’t understand but we must trust him because He will never do anything to harm us.

  31. Job 37 14-16 Hearken unto this, O Job stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. Dost thou know when God dispased them, and cause the light of his cloud to shine? Dost thou know the balancing of the clouds, the wondrous work of him which is perfect in knowledge?

  32. 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. I know where you brought me from and I see the things you’ve saved me from. Thank you for my judgement. Lead me to your throne so that I may rejoice with you forever.

  33. Job 37-4 ln today’s amp English version is saying. After it his voice roars; he thunders with the voice of his majesty; and he restrains not his lightning’s against his adversaries , when his voice is heard. God’s voice does great things which we cannot comprehend.

  34. v12 And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance,
That they may do whatever He commands them
On the face of the whole earth.

It has no choice but to fulfill its Creator’s design …Plans….Will.

  35. 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God

We can never understand the greatness of God. Sometimes I stand in amazement looking back over my life and wondering how God has carefully weaved his grace in. I can’t believe what he has done.
Now I stand in conference and can tell others that are in trials of their own ” Stand still, God knows what he’s doing” we can’t figure him out but he’s always right.

  36. 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

Its an amazing thing to see God working in others and ourselves, I cannot be to wise in my heart that I cant learn from God or my leaders, I believe this journey teaches us new things everyday, not just biblical but personal as well. Alot of times we feel as though we may not be strong enough to handle situations, but God shows us not only how to be strong, but that through Jesus we are strong, and therefore strength comes just at the right moment that we need it! Thank you Jesus for your infinite wisdom and strength!

  37. Elihu paints a majestic and true picture of God, highlighting the fact that the Almighty is far too great and mysterious for mere men to comprehend. This statement comes at a perfect time to contrast previous statements by Job and his friends, which imply that God’s ways should always make sense. The mystery, incomprehensibility and awesome majesty of God are truths are identified all throughout Scripture. Paul says that we will never fully understand God or his ways until we see him face to face. (1 Co 13:12). So why knowing the unknowable? Like Job, we are irresistibly drawn to him. When we seek him first in all situations he reveals himself bigger than each one. Showing himself our healer, our provider, our peace etc. The closer our relatioship becomes with God the more we rely on him to be those things for us, becoming dependant on him.

  38. 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

It is not untill we have an intimate relationship with God that He gives revelation of who He is. We must become naked before God and not hide ourselves. Just as we are coming to Himg recognizing our great need of Him.

  39. 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

As I was at the Dr office earlier, I was able to learn a couple things about the human body. With all the things we know about the human body, have barely begun to learn about the body. Jesus created us so wonderfully, and we can’t even understand. As I think of that, I get over joyed when I think of Heaven and getting to spend eternity with Jesus…

  40. Job 37:13 He brings the clouds to punish people, or to water his earth and show his love.

Just like rain brings life in the desert, the abundance of rain brings flooding that bring destruction. Rain refreshes the earth, but can also drown everything on it. We can drown in the middle of a storm when our faith fails, but seeing hand reach out to us demonstrates his love.

  41. ““Whenever this happens, my heart stops— I’m stunned, I can’t catch my breath. Listen to it! Listen to his thunder, the rolling, rumbling thunder of his voice. He lets loose his lightnings from horizon to horizon, lighting up the earth from pole to pole. In their wake, the thunder echoes his voice, powerful and majestic. He lets out all the stops, he holds nothing back. No one can mistake that voice— His word thundering so wondrously, his mighty acts staggering our understanding. ”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭37:1-5 MSG‬‬

We serve an awesome and marvelous God. Everything that is around us is made by him. He spoke it all into existence. Sometimes I know that I forget how magnificent he truly is because my small mind focuses on something small, but when I look again at the things much bigger than I, I say, “What a mighty God!”

  42. “Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭37:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  43. Job 37:19 AMP
“Tell us [Job] what words [of man] shall we say to such a Being; We cannot state our case because of darkness [that is, our ignorance in the presence of the unsearchable God].

Elihu reminded Job of mankind’s lack of knowledge and understanding and asked how Job would wish to intercede for himself before God, being so unable. In these days, society strongly pushes many notions of theology, varied ideologies, and often harshly condemns anyone who would try to say “this is the truth and it is absolute, anything conflicting with it is a lie.” They often say things to the effect of “who are you to say what the truth is?”

But we know truth of God’s Word even in the face of the varied opinions of mankind, and God has given us not only His Word but His Spirit within us to help us. Yes, we people have imperfect knowledge (we see through a glass, darkly, and our understanding is in part) but our God teaches and leads us into all truth and has given His Spirit as our Comforter, the power we need to become witnesses and the sons of God, the Help to come alongside us in our infirmities, His Spirit to shed His love abroad in our hearts and answer our hope, and our Advocate who interceeds for us with groanings which cannot be uttered:

    Romans 8:26-28
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

We may at times be questioned for our faith, questioned by what authority we declare the Word of God to be truth, questioned about how we as mere humans might think to know the will of God, but we know we can stand with certainty because of the truth of His Word that is given to us and the witness of His Spirit within us that works the supernatural for our own edification and the edification of the Body, and even for signs to unbelievers. We can stand with certainty because our lives are not our own and we stand in agreement with God, reconciled through His blood. We can find multiple instances of “ignorance” being compared to “darkness” in the Bible, and though we were first born into darkness, we who are born again know that we have found the marvelous light of God and have stepped into His promises:

    1 Peter 2:9
    But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

    Isaiah 9:2-7 NLT
2 The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

3 You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder.

4 For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.

5 The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire.

6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

  44. God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. Job 37:5 KJV

The voice of God can be a still small voice speaking to us or a thunderous burst with authority. If we are not focused on him then we can miss the gentle call. God does such great things that when his voice speaks it can bring revelations that grab us. When we listen we can hear the sound of revival.

  45. 21 Should God be notified that I want to speak?
Can people even speak when they are confused?

When we are confused about something that’s a very good time to speak to God. We should speak to God no matter what, he wants you to speak to him. God is listening for your voice to call upon him.
