Psalm 8

1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

  1. GO DECLARE THE LORD OF LORDS

    9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    GOD created man in HIS image and after HIS likeness. When we consider the fact of man and the result of sin; separation from GOD. There is a missing element in mans sinful nature. It is like man is on a quest to satisfy the emptiness of the heart and place that is left empty without GOD.

    When we are filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, the emptiness of man is filled and the breath of GOD resides in us. This reveals to us the spiritual condition of the world. Sinners are looking for something to fill the void in their heart and life.

    The church of JESUS is called and commissioned to GO DECLARE THE LORD OF LORDS to humanity which is on a spiritual quest to fill the emptiness.

    iPray JESUS will empower the church to fulfill the call of GOD and GO DECLARE the WORD and name of the LORD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork

  2. Verse 1 AMP “O Lord, our Lord, How majestic and glorious and excellent is Your name in all the earth! You have displayed Your splendor above the heavens.” This reminded me of the song that Sandi Patty sings “How Majestic Is Your Name” and also the song that we sing “Be Exalted, No Other Name, No Other Name, I Know”. There is no other name in all the earth….JESUS! Jesus loves us and thought we were worth dying for.

  3. 9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    The Lords name needs to be spoken in all the earth, and it needs to be glorified.I thank Jesus for forgiveness and all of his mercy. His love and mercy is like a Tidle wave crashing on the seashore all together but when it hits it goes all over the place.Thank you Jesus I will speak you name all through the Earth!

  4. Your majestic and excellent name fills the whole earth! Your glory is above the heavens! And in all of this magnificence and splendor You created us! We can feel so lowly at times but You created us just a little lower than the angels. You crowned us with glory and honour!!! How can we not hold our head high with such a beautiful crown resting on it?!?! Jesus, without You I am nothing but with You I am royalty!!! You are so magnificent!!!!! I love you!!

  5. 6. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put ALL things under his feet:

    7. All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

    8. The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

    He gave us dominion over ALL things – on the land, in the air, under the sea, and just in case that left something out, he included anything going through the sea!

  6. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

    La grandeza de la creación de Dios y su misericordia para con nosotros porque estamis en su mente y siempre está ay para nosotros y nos hizo sus hijos amados tanto así que nos compara un poquito menor que sus Ángeles hermoso salmo

  7. Why would God want to do be mindful about me?

    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him?

    Why would God want to do be mindful about me? Most of my days would make an insomniac fall asleep. Personally, I love my routine and the minor assignments on my “to do” list. The occasional storm of unpredicted hardware failures and new project expectations are proverbial bombs interrupting my normally tranquil daily activities. It is hard to understand how this could possibly be a good use of the God’s time.

    I can remember when my daughters were born. Standing in the hallway of the hospital looking through the glass at a squirmy noisy tiny human – instant love. I can remember watching them twitch, stretch, yawn, blink, smile, cry, etc. As she lay in her crib, I tower over her watching her every move — every twitch of his eye, and every move to the right or to the left. A yawn was big news. I loved the the smirk on her face from passing gas sure looks like a genuine smile in my book.

    To the rest of the world, this would seem like a colossal waste of time. Not for me or my wife. I love my daughters. Know that this is how God feels about us but with so much more depth and perfection. Somehow, we must all come to terms with this reality and soak it in. They had no clue of my intense love and protection over them. Today, they do. The same is true for us with God. We wander through life unaware He has been tracking us morning and night. The goal is to one day become aware of God’s presence in our lives. Look for Him, He is there – right now.

  8. “O LORD, our Lord, How majestic and glorious and excellent is Your name in all the earth! You have displayed Your splendor above the heavens.”
    ‭‭PSALM‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

    We serve a great and mighty God! I’m so grateful to be part of the Name of Jesus!

  9. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

    We know this first coming from a man who was known to be after God’s Own Heart. What’s astonishing is it doesn’t matter how bad our mistakes are, or how many times we fail to do his will he is right there to pick us up and keep us going. Surely nothing shall separate us from the love of God. It’s absolutely humbling to realize that my mistakes are never too big that God cannot allow me to be with him at any given moment of repentance.

  10. Truly our God is excellent. Even though we have faults, God still loves us. Only a true God will lay down his life so that man may have eternal life. This is the kind of love that surpasses just an emotion. God’s love is true love.

  11. 9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    When I consider who You are and all You’ve done, how can I do anything but praise?! How could I ever keep from singing and declaring Your excellent greatness?!

  12. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    God’s greatness is so much more than we could even fathom. However God I’m His mercy still cares for the little man and encourages us! We are on God’s mind even when we don’t deserve it and he takes care of us and meets our every need.

  13. 9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    No other name with a healing touch. No other name that can calm the storms of life! No other name that can cleanse us from sin! Oh how excellent is your name and your name is Jesus!

  14. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    How gracious you are O LORD!!! YOUR MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY DAY!!! OH HOW EXCELLENT IS YOUR NAME!!! Thank you JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  15. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth .
    what this means is god is amazing and his name is known all over the world and I love how we as people can share the word of the Lord with others.
    Go with Jesus Amen

  16. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    Such an excellent God we serve! He has created the great wonders of the world and is even concerned for us. It’s humbling to see the sun, the moon and the stars and know our God put them there. When we fall he wants us to get back up. When we are sick he wants to heal us. When we are hungry he wants to feed us. We were created by him after his own likeness… fearfully and wonderfully made. Our Father created us to be like him. To praise him and serve him. When we realize who we really are as a child of God and how much we have of our Father in us we will be unstoppable.

  17. iLove to Go Blog
    Psalms 8:6 KJV  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

    The Creator of the universe put all creation under the control of man. Every wild beast is under the control of mankind. For those animal activists who think the zoo is cruel and unusual punishment, God is the one who gave the earth and the wild beasts to man.

    Dominion-mâshal
    A primitive root; to rule: – (have, make to have) dominion, governor, X indeed, reign, (bear, cause to, have) rule (-ing, -r), have power.

    This is why mankind is so far advanced over the rest of creation. It was designed that way by the creator.

    God has also given us dominion over every evil spirit. We must remember the enemy is just a caged wild beast. He cannot harm us unless we jump in his cage of deceit.

    Revelation 20:1-2 KJV  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.  (2)  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years

  18. Excellent and great is our GOD for the words in my mouth can’t describe how excellent he really is
    Not enough in this words in this world can describe the goodnes of GOD it just make me want to dance

    9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

  19. What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human being that you sheuld care for them? (5) Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. Psalms 8:4,5 (NLT)

  20. God has made man only a little lower than the angels and placed a crown of glory and honor upon his head.
    Man has been put in charge of every thing made and everything under his authority all sheep and oxen and wild animals too the birds and fish and all the life in the sea
    O Jehovah our Lord the majesty and glory and honor upon his Hess

  21. 1 LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. NIV

    How great is our God, sing with me
    How great is our God, and all will see
    How great, how great is our God

  22. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour

    Considering the how great and diverse all of God’s creations are, David wonders at God’s love and attention to man. But mankind is different in that we were created to have communication with Him. All things created praise Him in their own way, but God came into the Garden and spoke directly with Adam and Eve, showing that He has a special interest in us. We have the power of choice to speak back to Him and He waits for us to reach up to Him, give Him our love, call out to Him in times of need and be willing to go reach others and tell them about His great love.

  23. 4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    We are created to worship Him and have a relationship with Him.

  24. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
    2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
    3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    The God who created the heavens and earth has chose me to live and serve him! God Im forever grateful for this oppurtunity!

  25. 2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

    Babies are a sign of a healthy nation many times. When a place is healthy new life flourishes but when it’s not new life struggles to come forth. The baby boom in America signified the end of a war, victory, and families being reunited. Babies thrive in the strength of a nation or in the church. Spiritual babies are born in healthy churches. It’s a sign of strength and health when a church has spiritual babies at different levels. They are being born and growing.

  26. Psalms 8:6 (KJV Strong’s)
    6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands;
    thou hast put all things under his feet:

    Psalms 8:9 (KJV Strong’s)
    9 O Lord our Lord,
    how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    Our responsibility, dominion, and authority is directly connected to his name. How excellent is your name. You have given us this wonderful position. Your name is to be praised.

    This is a statement of humility. We didn’t get here without him. He is the sole reason why we have any dominion at all. We should never allow our position and power to fill our minds and corrupt our thinking. Instead we should be grateful for his provision, and understand it’s because of his name.

  27. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    I always ask Jesus, Lord, what is it about me? Why are you always so merciful and graceful towards me and my family? Is it something I did or the way I am? Is it even about me? You didn’t have to shed your blood for me on the cross but you did. How is it that you can give so much love to a piece of dust like me? I will always be thankful for the life God has given me. I am thankful for the days He has been my Savior, my provider, and my deliverer. I’d be nothing and no where in this universe without Him.

  28. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    Lord who am I that you chose me to work in your kingdom? I’m thankful for the mercy and grace He has shown me even when I wasn’t deserving! Lord I have done nothing great to deserve your love, but I will live everyday giving my all to you to show you just how greatful I am!

  29. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; My God, my creator. I praise you God. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. My Rock and my motivation. Keep on keepin on

  30. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

    Lord you are an amazing and wonderful God, full of Love, Grace, Mercy…Thank you Jesus for you are Excellent! Hallelujah

  31. 4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
    human beings that you care for them? NIV

    I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve such an amazing and forgiving God but I’m grateful for all he’s done for me!

  32. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

    2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

  33. 2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

    When we praise the Lord in spite of the enemy we are facing we gain strength to our soul. Praise does defeat the enemy. It causes the Lord to take a stand in our lives and fight for us. Whatever we are facing we must always remember praise our way through.

  34. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

    At all times Praise the Lord!!!!

  35. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    For all these creations that the Lord has made and all of nature and it’s wonder thing God still had a mindset of you of me and each and everyone of this children the Lord loves us because he is our father

  36. v3 When I look at thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast established;

    ” He telleth the number of stars; he called them all by their names”

    GOD cares so …..for the stars who much more does he cares for us .

  37. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
    Psalm 8:3 NIV

    When I think about how great our God l, I can not even begin to comprehend how awesome He is. Just to think that he created everything with his word there is no words to describe it.

  38. Love how the first and last verses make clear to us that the psalm was written to exalt the Creator.

    Psalm 8:1 O Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

    Psalm 8:9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    Psalm 148:13 Let them Praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

  39. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

    5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

    6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

    Wow…this is a great Word to encourage yourself with and believe. We are given domion over evrything and God has put all things under our feet. Its not because of what we can do but because of who he is and what he can do for us. Thank you Lord that you look down and had mercy on us to be used of you and empower us to do great things.

  40. How insignificant we could be… God made the sun moon and stars the he placed us in the middle of the earth. How great is the moon or the sun or all the stars the he made to be scattered across the universe compared to the small spec of space that each one of us take up? When people say that God is not concerned about the details they are not looking at the big picture. If he is concerned about us in all of his grand creations you bet he’s concerned about the small things. Who are we that God would be mindful of us? We are his children and the apple of his eye.

  41. “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭8:6‬ ‭KJV

    Why do we fear so much? We have been given dominion. Everything that God created is subject to us. God has put all things under our control. We are the highest thing on the food chain. We are also very high on the congnitive levels as well. We speak and communicates thoughts and feelings.

  42. 9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    Yes Lord how excellent, great, mighty, amazing, powerful, beautiful God you are. Sometimes when I’m stuck in a situation I have to stop, think, and realize that you are just amazing. All I have to do is look at the sky, the animals, the trees, feel the wind, see my children, etc. Everything you made is just perfect!!! You are just an amazing Lord thank you for choosing me!!!!

  43. What a great chapter to keep in the forefront of our minds. The psalmist is magnifying God all while understanding where he fights in the equation as a fleshly human being. We must always remember who gave us the crown- Jesus. He is above us and not us above him. He causes us to be victorious.

  44. 2 Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you; toddlers shout the songs That drown out enemy talk, and silence atheist babble.
    4 Then I look at my micro-self and wonder, Why do you bother with us? Why take a second look our way?
    It amazes me how much power is in the name of Jesus! That any young child can sing to Jesus and call out his name and immediately the enemy flees and those child’s words can stop an enemy’s voice from talk to there family, to there friend, and to themselves! There is power in the name of Jesus! No matter what wrongs we’ve done God still love us and died for us so we can be saved. When he was dying on the cross he saw the whole world around him but he wasn’t think of how to redo earth, to make mountains here and put stars up there, no he thought about every single person! He thought me! He saw where I’m at and said I’m going to die so she can be saved, so you can be saved! Thank you God for thinking that I was worth saving!

  45. You are excellent in every way! Let us sing praises to you!

    O, Lord, our Lord
    How majestic is Your name in all the earth
    O, Lord, our Lord
    How majestic is Your name in all the earth
    O Lord, we praise Your name
    O Lord, we magnify Your name
    Prince of peace, mighty God
    O Lord, God Almighty, Almighty
    O, Lord, our Lord
    How majestic is Your name in all the earth
    O Lord, we praise Your name
    O Lord, we magnify Your name
    O Lord, we praise Your name
    O Lord, we magnify Your name
    Prince of peace, mighty God
    O Lord, God Almighty
    Prince of peace, mighty God
    O Lord, God Almighty

    Sandi Patty – How Majestic Is Your Name

  46. 6 You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—

    You see, God has given us authority over animals, to include over Satan, and has given us victory. We should proclaim the authority, and tell Satan to flee from me in the name of Jesus!

  47. Psalm8- 7 -8. All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air,and the fish of the sea and whatever passes along the path of the seas this sounds beautiful, God made all amimals.

  48. 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

    One of my favorite songs:

    Who am I that you are mindful of me, that you hear me when I call.

    When I think that the almighty God hears me when I call out to him. That he desire have an intimate relationship with me. What a privilege? What an honor? God, the only one that is not bound by what exist in our physical realm or what exist in the spiritual realm.

    My 3lb brain can not fathom such a great God. But because of his word, I can be sure that he loves me. Me so insignificant and unworthy, by his death on the cross, I was make worthy to enter into his Glory.

    Thank you Jesus.

  49. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:(Psalms 8:6 KJV)

    God has given us dominion over things he’s created. This is because we are his children and we have his Spirit living within us. We can only have dominion if we are lined up with God.
