Psalm 21

1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

6 For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.

7 For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.

9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

11 For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.

12 Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.

13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

  1. “Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭21:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  2. In this scripture, it gives hope for things we have desired or requested of the Lord. But, it seems like your not being heard nor he’s answering your prayers. Don’t give up, but be persistent in prayer with supplication and by knowing what God wills. That thing you been praying for might be just a prayer away or it isn’t the will of the Father. So, just like a Good Father, sometimes God will say “NO”! That’s another example of why Jesus said, Father that thine will be done, “Not Mine”. But, if this desire is an Godly desire, it might just only be delayed not denied! So, keep praying away and be expectant for that miracle. We all hope he gives us our hearts desire!

2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

“Love Jesus Christ, repent, believe, share, give, expect, praise him, witness”.

  3. Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts. (‭Psalms‬ ‭21‬:‭13‬ NLT)

  4. Verse 1 NKJV “The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!” Nehemiah 8:10 AMP says “Then Ezra said to them, “Go [your way], eat the rich festival food, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” Same verse NLT “And Nehemiah[a] continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”

Verse 13 NLT says “Rise up, O Lord, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.” Its time to rise up as we sang Sunday night and celebrate for the the joy of the Lord is my (our) strength!

  5. 8-12. With a fistful of enemies in one hand and a fistful of haters in the other, You radiate with such brilliance that they cringe as before a furnace. Now the furnace swallows them whole, the fire eats them alive! You purge the earth of their progeny, you wipe the slate clean. All their evil schemes, the plots they cook up, have fizzled—every one. You sent them packing; they couldn’t face you. MSG

Enemies and haters are no match for God…it’s ok, don’t worry about them; He’s got everything under control!

  6. “Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes. When you appear for battle, you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath, and his fire will consume them. You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind. Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed. You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭21:8-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Who is the King of Glory? The LORD, strong and mighty!!! Mighty in battle! Yes, Jesus! When the enemy rushes in like a flood You raise up a standard against them. Jehovah Nissi! You go before us LORD!! You are our defender and protector! What more could we ask for?!

  7. 13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

My God is all powerful, and Mighty in all his ways. That is why I exalt him and praise him. My life would be upside down without him, but it is not for he does me no wrong. Thank you Jesus! I will praise you!

  8. Psalms 21:7, “For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.”

Psalms 32:10 says, “… But he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.”

When we Trust in God, His Mercy will surround us.
Thank You JESUS for Your Mercy!

  9. How the king rejoices in your strength, O  Lord ! He shouts with joy because you give him victory. Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty. For the king trusts in the Lord . The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.
    Psalms 21:1‭, ‬5‭-‬5‭, ‬7 NLT

Victory over our enemies they run when they see you come but we know victory only comes we we Trust in you i believe that’s what the kings believe to they know if they know if they put there trust in the lord GOD will take care there nothing in this world that GOD can’t do

  10. 1The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

There’s a line in an old song that states,”Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away, but there’s something about His name.” Jesus is his name. He is my salvation, he is all I need.

  11. 1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

It is with great relief that our strength does not come From our own physicality because with that comes weakness and fatigue the joy of the Lord is our strength and it truly is Everlasting. Praise God that he keeps us from the blessings of good to give us better to be Kings and Priests and his court

  12. 1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

Our joy and our strength comes from the Lord. We should not depend on things and people to make us happy. Search out the Lord and His ways and in doing us we will be joyous and strengthened.

  13. 6 For You make him most blessed [and a blessing] forever; You make him joyful with the joy of Your presence. (AMP)

You, Jesus, are my source of strength, hope and joy! Use us to be a blessing this day!

  14. How the king rejoices in you strenght, O Lord! He shouts with JOY because you give him Victory. Psalms 21: 1 NLT

Our dependency comes from the Lord. Many times we are frustrated because we loose focus from whom Our strenght comes from.

  15. iLove to Go Blog

Psalms 21:2 NLT For You have given him his heart’s desire; You have withheld nothing he requested.

David speaks here of God answering the kings requests and goes on to say that God has held nothing back. As I read this morning, a scripture came to my mind from the dark time in David’s life. When Nathan the Prophet rebuked David, he said the following statement. 2 Samuel 12:8 NLT I gave you your master’s house and his wives and the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, I would have given you much, much more.

As long as our heart is right with God, we should be able to ask for anything and our Father will give it…as long as it is within the will of God. Thank You Brother Shatwell for a great message of faith.

  16. EXALTING GOD

13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

When we offer sincere, heartfelt Praise to the LORD our GOD we exalt the LORD in HIS own strength. Consider “in HIS own strength”.

The word exalted means to bring up, lift up or hold up.

Understanding the power of our Praise to the LORD we exalt HIM in his own power, because he inhabits the praise. Which means he literally covers our praise and rises above our lives, situations, setbacks and challenges. HE is exalted in HIS strength.

Therefore when we Praise, JESUS elevated by HIS own, unmatchable strength and is the unstoppable FORCE of Victory that overcomes all opposition in our lives.

WE WIN when we Praise JESUS.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  17. If I were to continue with the same meaning of Selah – forever. Verse 2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
Can you imagine God always giving the desire of our hearts and not withholding the request of our lips.? Our God it’s a Mighty God and His Mercy endure th for ever.
At the same time never ever speak ill about your leaders for it is obvious that God will punish such actions. 8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.

9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

  18. 1 The king rejoices in your strength, Lord.
How great is his joy in the victories you give!

Your the only one that can give us the strength when we are weak. You lift us up in times of trouble. The victories we gain is because of you Lord not because of our own strength, but the strength that we found in you.

but those who hope in the LORDwill renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. Psalm 22:19

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil 4:13

  19. Accept our praise O Lord for all your glorious power .we will Wright songs to celebrate your mighty acts. Vs-13
Accept Our Praise O Lord !!!!!!
We are so blessed to ha e a Pastor that has In stilled in our spirit no matter what good are bad to worship the Lord . Like all the body in the church some time we are going to go through storms and troubles and triles . Thank you Pastor for teaching and preaching Praise I’m in the season I don’t know what I would do or be like if I didn’t know to Praise.
    Praise God !!!!!!!!!!

  20. 5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

It’s amazing what God does for us! But it’s important for us to remember who did it for us. Give God all the glory! What we do is great in God and through his salvation.

  21. 2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

For years I struggled with verses such as this. My hearts desires! New house, new car, new suit, new boots, more, more, more, me, me, me. However, with maturity I have come to understand the actual meaning behind verses that talk about the desires of our hearts. When we truly have a relationship with the Lord, the desires of our hearts are not focused on such temporal things. Rather our hearts desires are more in line with God’s plan; not only for our lives but for the furtherment of His Kingdom.

  22. Psalms 21: 1-4 The king shall joy in thy strength OLORD and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not with holden the request of his lips. Selah. For thou prevents him with blessings of goodness thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked life of thee and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

When you live for the Lord and do his Commandments their is nothing he will not do for you according to his will.

  23. 3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
What can you call your crown of pure gold?
I can think of a number of things God has blessed me with! I have to continue to thank him every single day, thank him for the things that has yet to come. I trust the Lord. Ask and ye shall recieve. Right?
No matter how my day turns out its gonna end the same way and thats giving praise to God and rejoicing wverything hes placed in front of me.
1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
The joy of the Lord is my strength!
    God bless you all

  24. 7 For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

David gives us the perfect example of how leaders both political, governmental and spiritual should carry themselves. When we put our trust in the Lord with the position he’s placed us in. The posture of a leader should be in submission and adoration. He gives us so much ..peace, strength, mercy and joy that we just can’t help but praise him in thanksgiving.

  25. 7 For the king trusts in the Lord;
through the unfailing love of the Most High
he will not be shaken. NIV

Trust God when he tells you that he loves you even when you feel like nobody else does!

  26. 13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

We will sing Your praises everywhere we go that You may be exalted in all the earth!!

  27. 7 For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

Trust: believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of: / firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something:
When we trust him like these definitions state, we shall NOT be moved away from his love, mercy and grace. Reading & hearing his word increases our faith.

  28. Psalms 21:13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

I will sing of your greatness. You are my strength and my power. I do exalt You daily! I will exalt You for You are Lord over everything.

  29. Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts. (‭Psalms‬ ‭21‬:‭13‬ NLT)

This scripture validates the use of music and joyful, exuberant, praise and worship. It shows us that when we come to the house of God we should enter his gates with Thanksgiving and enter his courts with praise! We should never be ashamed to be worshippers, singers and musicians unto the Lord. That is the greatest privilege that anyone could ask for

  30. The king shall joy in thy strength O Lord and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice.

We must have Joy in the lord because he is are strength in are hearts and minds for he is worth of all the praise.

    Go in Jesus name Amen

  31. 2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
To me this is not talking about earthly things, I believe if I do what I am suppose to do then God is going to give me the desires of my heart and that is to see my daughter Tiffany come back to the church working on bus, loving the kids like she has a burden for and on fire for God. That is my hearts desire.

  32. 1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

  33. 5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

6 For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.

  34. 9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

There was a time in my life that I thought everything was good. I didn’t need to rely on anything or anyone. That changed when I went spiraling out of control. Lost a place to live, barely had anything to hold onto. Now I look back and see where I came from. God is good, all the time. It is me that has to get rid of the thinking that it has to be my way or no way. I have to put all my trust in God and l eave nothing to my own doing. God will guide my every step as I submit to Him. Thank you Jesus.

1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

  35. 4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
God is so faithful he will give us what we ask, we cant ask in the wrong way, Man God is so faithful! I just love him so much!

  36. 7 For the king trusts in the Lord through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.
13 Show your strength, God, so no one can miss it. We are out singing the good news!

We will not be shaken when we trust in the Lord to be our protector and provider! God I pray that everyday I’ll awake with a new love and trust for you so I may not be shaken from the sins of this world but stand strong on your word! I will sing of your love and strength and won’t stop till the everyone knows of your marvelous works!

  37. 2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

In the Bible it says God’s word is forever settled in heaven. We don’t have to be concerned about if God will provide for us or not. GOD Is our provider! God will give you the desires of your heart just follow his Commandments live for God with your whole heart be committed and submitted to the work of God and he will bless you.

  38. Psalms 21:7 (KJV Strong’s)

7 For the king trusteth in the Lord,
and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

Trust – trust into have confidence, be confidentto be bold to be secure

When we place our trust in the Lord we will never be disappointed. Trusting in Jesus means he will fulfill his word. He will always come through, and we can bank on it.

Many things in life we cannot trust in. The economy, sometimes government, sometimes family, these can all let us down.

But God has promised he will never leave us, he will never forsake us, we will never feel cold steel in our backs from the Lord.

    Proverbs 29:25 (KJV Strong’s)

25 The fear of man bringeth a snare:
but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

  39. Be thee exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power. (Psalm 21:13).

I pray for You Jesus…because you want all of us to put down our sin and follow you.

    iWill Lord.

  40. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.

The more you love God, the harder it is to stumble into sin. We trust in the Lord to guard us at all times, so we dont need to worry about life’s trouble. With God all things are possible.

  41. Praise the Lord for who He is! Trust in His perfect guidance and stand strong in the knowledge He gives you. I trust in your leadership. I want to lead by example not tell others how to lead. I cannot teach my children how to do it right until I follow Him and do it right myself.

  42. Thankful that I can put all my trust in the Lord and He won’t let me down. It is His desire to give me the desires of my heart and preserve me.

  43. “The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭21:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Thankful for His salvation and strength. It’s brings joy and freedom.

  44. 13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

“Oh Lord my God, you are my friend.
Oh Lord my God, you are my strength.
Take my heart and make it new
Let my soul rejoice in You.
Have my hands and work in me
To bring you honor oh my King!

You are my strength, You’re my strong tower
    My salvation from the darkness
You are the one that pulls me through
When there’s nothing I can do.
    You are fire that ignites
And changes hearts from deep inside
    Oh Jesus oh Lord
You are my strength you are my God.”
    -JGS

This came to mind as I read that last verse in the chapter. From a song I was inspired to write back in a season of trials in my life in 2007. I titled this
My Strength. (1st verse and Chorus) .
To God Almighty be the glory.

  45. For the king trusteth in the Lord , and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.(Psalms 21:7 KJV)

When a king puts his trust in the Lord he allows God to reign. After all the kingdom he was given to rule is first and foremost belongs to the Creator first. He will not me moved by the plots of the wicked against him because of God’s love and merciful hand.

  46. How the king rejoices in your strength, O  Lord ! He shouts with joy because you give him victory. For you have given him his heart’s desire; you have withheld nothing he requested. Interlude
    Psalms 21:1‭-‬2 NLT

If we want God to give us the desires of our hearts. We must first go after His own Heart and find out what God’s heart desires.

  47. “How the king rejoices in your strength, O LORD! He shouts with joy because you give him victory.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭21:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Oh sweet victory. We can walk around day to day knowing that God has won the battle. He has defeated the enemy. We only have to walk in the victory hat he has already given. Days may look up and down, but Jesus has already won.

  48. 7 For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

When we trust the Lord nothing on earth can move us with out Him been there.

  49. 2 Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

I look forward to the day when I walk so closely that I ask for something for me and He gives it to me, but not for the reason of me getting anything that I ask for, but because I will be SOOOOOO close to Jesus at that point. Just think about it, to lay this flesh and its desires to the side and to be with only Jesus… WOW! What Peace!!!

  50. 2. Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not with-holden the request of his lips. Se’-lah 3. For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head . The LORD will give you your desire of your heart !!!! I LIFT YOU UP JESUS !!!!
