Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

  1. Psalms 46:1-3
    1) GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    2) Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
    3) Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

    God is our Shelter and our Strength. He is always near to Help us when we’re in trouble. When everything around us seems insecure, we don’t have to fear, because God is a place of security for us.

    Thank You JESUS that You are my REFUGE and STRENGTH and HELP!

  2. Many of these verses contain phrases such as “God is…The Lord of hosts is….The God of Jacob is…” My God is all these things and should much more! He is the great I am, without even needing to finish the phrase I can stand in awe and say, “God is.” He is all that there is, He makes and defines all that there is. How amazing is my God!

  3. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    I will fear nor evil because i know god is with me he told us that he will never leave he always there. JESUS I WILL PRAISE YOU

  4. (1) God is our refuge and strenght, always ready to help in time of trouble.
    (11)The Lord of Heaven’s Armies, is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
    Psalm 46:1-2
    As a father of two sons, i understand the love of a father, ready to protect my children from harm. I also understand that when my children go out of my sight, they leave their covering, being exposed to harm and danger.
    In the spiritual relm, we have to understand that there is a spiritual order for our protection, that the Lord has instituted. When we leave life’s obedience, and submission to a spiritual authority, the Lord is prompt to protect his children.

  5. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
    11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    This is one of my favorite verses. Be still and know that I am God. It is got me through many troubles and I could feel God’s presence just telling me to hold on and remember who is in charge all the long. Truly God is our refuge

    4. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holyplace of the tabernacles of the most High.

    5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

    Early will I seek you oh Lord. Your blessings flow right in the midst of trouble. There is life in you. Ypur presence flows like the river joy bubbles up and continues to flow even in the rocky places. I can take a drink from the river and it will sustain me. You have made me gkad,you are my strength. I will tell of sustainable love and strength.

  7. 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    The LORD of hosts is with us. The LORD of armies is with us. Not just AN armies but the LORD OF ARMIES!!! You never need to be fearful, for the LORD your God is the LORD of hosts.

  8. I Love to worship The Lord
    God is our refuge it begins abruptly but nobly ye may trust in whom and in what ye please but God is our refuge and strength
    The psalmist praises God for the help he gives His presence now and the future peace he will establish.
    This is Saturday morning I pray that the door hangers God puts a special annotating and people (first time guest) will be drawn to this building Sunday morning

  9. GO IN PEACE NOT FEAR

    1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    Knowledge of GOD is FAITH. When we KNOW GOD we KNOW that HE is our refuge, stength, help in trouble. This KNOWLEDGE builds our FAITH and inspires PEACE and JOY to make us GLAD.

    There is too much worry in christian believers. Have FAITH in GOD.

    Reading verses 1-5 reminds me that HE is GOD and HE is in control, I must simply believe in JESUS and all that HE has promised.

  10. BE STILL

    10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    The word still means,not moving or making a sound. Many times in our busy lives we tend to forget how too be still. With our modern technology the world is connected ever faster each year. Would any of us have the patience for dial up Internet now? We can get an answer from someone half way around the earth in a matter of seconds. Yet God moves in his own time. But because we are used to our fast pace society, we get impatient with God. But in the passage we see we must be still in some cases. And know he is God Almighty. Now this doesn’t mean when we are worshipping or praising God that we are quiet. NO! Yet in our time with him we should allow him to move us in his Spirit. And if that means a time of stillness, not praying under our breath, but total quietness. What could God be trying to tell us? A relationship is built on communication. But if only one person is doing the talking who’s in the relationship?
    So in our time be still and know that he is God.

  11. iLove to Go Blog
    Psalms 46:1 NLT For the choir director: A song of the descendants of Korah, to be sung by soprano voices. God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

    Wow. Come on Sopranos, Sing of the coming of the Lord and His Kingdom here on this earth. This Psalm is prophetic of the soon and coming Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. The thing about it is, if you ask the majority of the folks you meet the following question most will get the answer wrong. The question is, “Will you spend eternity in heaven?” Most will say yes, but the fact of the matter is that none of us will spend eternity in heaven… What do you mean brother Morgan? Well, Let’s think about this for a moment. Hum…ok here we go.

    Revelation 21:1-5 NLT Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. (2) And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. (3) I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among His people! He will live with them, and they will be His people. God Himself will be with them. (4) He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” (5) And the One sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then He said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

    You see, there will be a new heaven and a new earth and the new Jerusalem will come down to earth where we will be with Jesus. We will not spend eternity in heaven, but on this renewed earth…and that my friends is awesome.

  12. “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Be still, we don’t have to look and listen for a loud voice just be gentle and soft and just know he is God. The heathen are loud we are gentle. Either way he will be exalted.

  13. “The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    A mans kingdom will surely fall. A mans kingdom with destroy the earth.

    Just like pure democracy, it implodes.

  14. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    God is our helper and he takes care of our needs. .. he provides when we trust him and have confidence in Him. When we call Him he’s there in a moment he’s a on time God oh yes he is!

  15. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    Many people in and out of Church find themselves really praying for God when theyre in trouble or have great fear of something…basically when they need help.

    We talked about prayer dedication the other day, and the importance. We talked about how people pass it up or dont have “time”. Prayer is where pur faith grows. Prayer is where your relationship with God is being built. Prayer keeps away temptation so prater keeps away sin….so prayer must keep me from sinning.
    Mm. Hallelujah!

    The importance of prayer is important always remember.
    Dont get me wrong youre still gonna go tgrough trials to test your “willpower” or “faith” vut just remember the importance of prayer so you can always where that wonderful smile. It only takes one muscle to smile!!

    God bless you all!

  16. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
    11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    This is a declaration from God to us as well as a promise! His word is forever settled in heaven and we can trust it totally. You Are the mighty God and You ARE my safe place. Thank you Lord.

  17. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

    Many times we quote “God is my refuge and strength” and they are just words or a scripture to be quoted. But when life comes against us, and we face a trial that we don’t know how to stand, we can run to the rock and He will protect us, shield us and comfort us, until we feel strong enough to endure the storm.

    God is ……whatever I have need of!

  18. Psalms 46 1-3 God is our refuge and strenght, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the sea, though the waters thereof roar and be troubled though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

    David encourages us to hope and trust in God and his power.

  19. God is very confident in who he is, and what he can do, and what will happen! He has know doubt nor does he fear a challenge. But, we have to trust and have faith that God will do what he says he will do! He is our refuge, and our hiding place we must be still and know he is God.

    10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    “Trust Him”……….

  20. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    When we feel as if life is passing us by, and we become overwhelmed by this world, it is important that we be still and remember just who we belong to and how great He is!!

  21. Interesting dichotomy in that first verse… we typically think of a refuge as a place of safety we may seek when our strength is not sufficient, yet God provides both. He is always here in our present situation to provide the help we need. His refuge though is where our strength is restored! Regardless of what is going on around us, we can be confident in him!

    Interesting that David refers to Eden following this declaration. It was a place of spiritual delight and a refuge for Adam & Eve before their fall into sin. The river that sprang forth from there was said to have flowed right past the tree of life! Revelations declare that this tree will be in the city of New Jerusalem… the holy place of the most high. That same God is with us today and oh how glad we will be when we are able to be there with him in his glory! He will be right there in our midst where we can see him face to face as he is.

    Before that time of refuge and strength however, the psalmist appears to be reminding us that same God is capable of providing us with that refuge today! As we heard just a few psalms back, ‘I had fainted lest I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living’. We don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to partake of his blessings, because without them we just aren’t very likely to be capable of sustaining ourselves until that day. So, ‘Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen (that’s us!), I will be exalted in the earth.’ (right down here, not just up there). We need to remember and truly believe that, ‘The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.’

  22. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

  23. 1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
    Psalms 46:1‭-‬4 KJV

  24. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

  25. Psalms 46:11 (KJV Strong’s)

    11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    God is with us and he is our refuge. He is our safe place. No matter what life throws at us he is there to protect us, and be the one we can run to.

  26. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

    3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

    When we have complete trust in the Lord is when our hearts and soul have peace. We know that whatever is going on around us he has us in His hand. He is our present help in time of trouble; the help right when you need it. And fear will not be of the Lord for His perfect love casts fear out. So run to Him in the middle of your situation, and be filled with His love, His Spirit, that you may have peace of mind and fear not.

  27. 8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
Selah.

    The same God that does what we cannot even imagine, He is with us. If we only caught what that means, all Hell would be split wide open and we would see the revival that has been prayed for and has been prophesied about…

  28. God says to be still and know that he is God. When the storms of like stir against us we can have peace knowing he is with us and he is our fortress. If we can silence our worries and fears that distract us and give them to God he will renew our minds. To be still is to have that kind of peace that when everything seems to be falling apart that he is the one putting things together in his order and not our own. Yes working everything out for our good all we need to do is be patient and trust him.

  29. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

    “Always ready to help”. I’ve learned through the years when working with children that if you always immediately jump in and save the day and fix their problem, the children never learn. They never learn to ask for help nor do they learn to complete certain tasks on their own.

    As we are children of God, He is truly always ready to help. He may be teaching us to learn to ask for help, or He may be waiting for us to learn to do it ourselves.

  30. “God is our place of safety. He gives us strength. He is always there to help us in times of trouble. The earth may fall apart. The mountains may fall into the middle of the sea. But we will not be afraid. The waters of the sea may roar and foam. The mountains may shake when the waters rise. But we will not be afraid. Selah”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:1-3‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

    There is a “place” of peace and assurance. That “place” can be accessed at anytime and in any place. The “place” is Jesus! Whatever the situation or circumstance run to that “place” of refuge.

  31. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    This is awesome because it doesn’t just say that the Lord in all his splinter is for one person, but for all of US. It says, “God is OUR refuge and strength…”. That means it’s not just for one person. It keeps going and going, including whoever joins in with the promise. As we then join into this provision of the Lord, His strength and His refuge, we have NO fear. It doesn’t matter what things look like around us because we trust that God is our refuge and strength. Trusting on His presence gives us a sound mind.

    “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  32. Verse 11 MSG “Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.” Same verse AMP “The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold [our refuge, our high tower]. Selah.”

    II Chronicles 20:17 CEV says “You won’t even have to fight. Just take your positions and watch the Lord rescue you from your enemy. Don’t be afraid. Just do as you’re told. And as you march out tomorrow, the Lord will be there with you.”

  33. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    HALELUJAH!!! HE IS GOD ALONE!!!

  34. Josiah: 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in our trouble.
    What made this verse stick out to me is that it does not just say that God is with us it said he is “a very present help in our trouble”. God is not a fake friend who leaves when the going gets tough. For the trials are what molds friendships. The trials are what get us closer to God. Trials are the reason you have friendships and relationships so that you can turn to them, but you can not have a true friend if you do not spend time with them. Yet to many people only want God when they feel like it. My pray is that I always take time with God. Psalm 16:8 says “I have set the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” This is my pray: to always turn to God and spend time with him even when there is no major trials at that moment. For in Psalms 34:17 it says “The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”.

  35. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

    Be still- be quiet and know that He is God. Please understand that my silence is not acceptance of what’s around me but of the Power in my God. I would rather be quiet and let God show up and show out.

  36. 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
    3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
    When I think on these verses, the fact that he is our God and we are his children, comes to mind. So whatever happens God will project us and work for the benefit of our walk with him. However at the same time I find it humorous that David says and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; because in Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. So as terrifying as it may be, I can rejoice with laughter because not only has God kept me safe but he has done a mighty work for my brother or my sister in Christ.

  37. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth

    What a hard directive from God for some; “be still and know that I am God”. We are told from our earliest awakenings that we are responsible for our decisions. Then we learn of God and His ways and are taught to leave things alone and allow Him to work things out; in His time and for His Kingdom. What is a man to do?

    A child that is raised in church can understand these principles better because we were taught these things from the beginning. We have seen God meet the need of our family. We have heard the testimony of our parents concerning the many blessings God gave. However, a person who is new to God has not seen the power of God. This is both good and bad, depending on the individual.

    Some people’s faith in God from the beginning is strong enough to move mountains. Others posses the need to see the nail prints in His hands. There is nothing wrong with either way; that is the way God made us. The important part is to understand which one of these two people we are. Once we understand who we are we can then understand how God works in our life. We can recognize God moving things around and know that it is on purpose and how we should respond.

  38. 11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

    If God is with us who shall be against us!!! Were the ones that push God away, its our own fault when we let the devil take things from us and laugh at us being destroyed by Him! We can’t push God away because he’s the key and the answer to every situation I and others need. I know God is able to do ANYTHING!!! Use me Lord, HERE I AM!!! Stay near me Lord everyday!!!

  39. Psalm46:5 (Today’s English Amp ) God is in the midst of her, she shall not to be moved; God will help her right early .( at the dawn of the morning). God is my Refuge and My strength any time of the day. God is the light of the world.

  40. GOD is our refuge and strength , a very present help in trouble . 2. Therefore will not we fear , though the earth be removed , and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea ; 3. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled , though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof . Se’-lah . Thank you Jesus for being our refuge and strength !!!!

  41. Hannah: “1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord shall always be exalted and all the earth shall know know him. He is our protector and provider. He is our strength and refuge. He will always provide for us and do what we never could have imagined. He will bless the faithful in him and will pour out his blessings upon their heads. Never could I give God back everything he has given me, because he will keep on giving. All he wants for us is for each person to serve him and to be a light unto the world. I will praise the Lord and exalt his name for everything he has done. Blessed be the Lord almighty our God and savior!

  42. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
    When we are still and able to hear the voice of the Lord, we have put our thoughts and worries and reasonings aside. He is then able to give us the direction we need to do his will. He desires the best for us;We just need to take the time and listen to that life changing voice . He gave us two ears and one mouth… We should listen twice as much as we speak
