Psalm 76

In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

  1. Verse 11 AMP “Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them; Let all who are around Him bring gifts to Him who is to be feared [with awe-inspired reverence].”

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 MSG “When you tell God you’ll do something, do it—now. God takes no pleasure in foolish gabble. Vow it, then do it. Far better not to vow in the first place than to vow and not pay up.”

  2. 6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah

There is no God like Jehovah. No God like our God. No match for his ways, He has never even been challenged. When we know our God is with us, then we know we cannot be defeated.

  3. 4. You rise and shine like the dawn. You are more majestic than the mountains where game runs wild. Voice

What could be more majestic than the dawn – with the bright sun cutting through the darkness as it rises over a chain of beautiful mountains, it’s heat turning the night’s dew to steam and giving warmth to the wild game who roam it’s forests?
The God who created it all, of course!

  4. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

Gods name is great and greatly to be praised! His name is above all the earth. And today it’s not only great in Isreal but It’s great in all the world!

“Our boldest enemies have been plundered.
They lie before us in the sleep of death.
No warrior could lift a hand against us.”
    Psalms 76:5

Our God is amazing. Even in this sick world we live in, no matter how bold enemy is, we have the victory. Greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world. 2 Kings 1:10 NLT But Elijah replied to the captain, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and killed them all.

We must always remember, God is always stronger then our greatest enemy…no warrior can stand against us!

  6. 5 Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us. (NLT)

Hallelujah! “God is fighting for us! Pushing back the darkness, lighting up the kingdom that cannot be shaken. In the name of Jesus, enemy’s defeated! And we will shout it out!” God you are so good in all your might; our enemies have already been plundered and defeated. Thank You Jesus!

  7. THERE IS DIVINE ATTACHMENT IN A VOW

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Devotion and attraction to GOD initiate in us a desire to sacrifice and give toward HIS cause. The SPIRIT of our LORD JESUS causes our heart to compel and commit to the cause of GOD. Vocal, written and mental vows are all received by GOD. Once we make a vow to GIVE or GO in JESUS name, GOD expects us to follow through with our vow.

When we VOW to GOD we should also bring to GOD and when we come to GOD we should bring portions according to the VOW we made to GOD.

GOD is TRUTH and therefore HE cannot relate to dishonest or lies. GOD knows the father of lies is satan, because he named him liar and father of lies. Therefore, when we make a vow to GOD and do not pay that vow, GOD has no choice but to associate us with a lie and the father of them.

The psalmist is admonishing us to choose TRUTH and follow through and fulfill our VOW to GOD.

  8. 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

When you consider the strength and beauty of the animals which God created and the provisions he has given unto them to survive in this world and yet they have not a soul; why should I fret about how God is going to provide for my family. Luke 12:6-7 ” Are not five sparrows sold for two farthlings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Each and every day is one day closer to Jesus coming and taking his church home to him. He has given us his spirit not so that we can just reap and hoard the blessings he bestows upon us as his children and wait for him to take a few souls to heaven. He instructs us to confess, profess and share this gospel and what Jesus has done for us so that others can also have this wonderful salvation and be with him. He desires that none should be lost and everyone should be saved.Yet, he gives each of us a choice on whether or not we will serve him.
Luke 12: 8-9″Also, I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the son of man also confess before the angels of God. But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angles of God.”
I pray that I can share without fear this precious salvation message to those that Jesus would have me to meet so that they too can willingly choose to surrender their lives to Jesus and be bestowed with the peace, protection, strength power and direction in this life. Most importantly, that they will be with Jesus forever more and bring others with them.

  9. Josiah: 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
Great is the power of God. If God is for me who can stand against? For he is to be feared. Since I have God on my side I can place my troubles in His hands. I do not have to be scared of what this world can do to me. In fact I can rejoice when I go through trials or suffering for God’s name. Acts 5:40-42 says ” and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. (41) And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. (42) And daily they taught in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” I can rejoice when I suffer for Christ. All this world can do without my consent is hurt me in flesh. Yet they cannot kill me in spirit. When I go through trials I can rejoice even more because God molds and shapes us when we go through trials and we can get closer to him. Yet who can stand against God and win. However I can rejoice because my God is for and if God is for me who can stand against? GREAT IS GOD’S STRENGTH! BLESSED BE THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE US THE LORD!

  10. 11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

I am reminded of being taught that we should never come to the House of God empty handed. We are going to be in the King of kings presence. He deserves honor and glory. He deserves sacrifice. The plan for the tabernacle was not hap-hazardly designed – it was perfect. It is significant that upon entering the outer court we are confronted immediately with an altar. This altar blocked the way to the presence of God.

A Hebrew word for offering is the root word ka-rav. Karav also means “to come near” or “to approach.” Quite literally we cannot come near to God without sacrifice. Sometimes we take for granted the ability to drive to church in minutes in a comfortable vehicle. We walk into a beautiful building with air conditioning and into the sanctuary and expect God to be there and hear our prayer. When we are reminded of Godly order, we sometimes still approach God incorrectly.

We often try to make ourselves presentable to him by our best clothes or by our long wordy prayers. We try to “clean ourselves up” to approach him. We forget that in God’s order of things, the altar comes first and the laver for washing comes second. The priests atoned for their sins through a sacrifice at the altar, but they cleansed themselves at the laver before serving in the Holy Place. We are washed through His Word.

    Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

  11. 7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth.

One day this world will experience the wrath of God in judgement and I pray that I am safe in his arms in heaven and far from his wrath. We are promised that we will not see the wrath of God in the end, although we may see the wrath of man upon God’s people. Proverbs 29:25
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”

  12. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In praise is God known. To make the name of Jesus known all we have to do is praise Him everywhere we go. People will begin to wonder how is that we can praise Him no matter what is going on in our life, and they’ll begin to desire to have the same thing we do and it is then we can tell them to come see a man, His name is Jesus!! Let’s GO make His name known to all the world!

  13. Psalms 76:3, There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.”

Thank You JESUS that You are the God of my battles, and I can trust in Your Word that says, “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper…” (Isaiah 54:17)

  14. How awesome that even the land animals recognize his voice. Why wouldn’t they, he created them. His breath is so powerful, it gave life to us humans. Thank you Jesus for your spirit than dwells in us!

  15. God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel. Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home. You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
    Psalms 76:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4 NLT
Everyone one day is going to know the name of JESUS and everyone will see how gloriously is our God

  16. MSG – Do for God what you said you’d do—
he is, after all, your God.

God takes our vows seriously. No one forces us to make them, so when we do, it is a covenant between us and God. Be prayerful when making commitments. God will equip us with the power and fortitude to follow through with those things we commit to, it’s us that get in the way when we take our eyes off of our purpose and goal. We get our eyes on “flesh” and things of the flesh and we loose momentum.

Revitalize the Momentum in your life, keep your commitments, stay on track. The end is closer than you think – Live up to your vows and God will bless you for your efforts.

  17. 11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
It is better to never to make a vow than to make a vow and break it.

  18. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

Our God is a great God and we should spread his word all around us so that everyone knows that he’s a great God!

  19. Only god will have the lost word, He will decide what happens in the end .He will settle all matters between the wicked and godly. so no matter how dark and how hard the day is make it a c continual to pray and and reach to God rather then these worldly things.

  20. You, even You, are to be feared [with the submissive wonder of reverence]; Who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry? You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was quiet When God arose to [establish] judgment, To save all the humble of the earth. Selah.
    PSALM 76:7‭-‬9 AMP

The glory of God is all around; it can be seen in all manor of beasts, birds, man, and the whole earth. I know that I need to show God glory in all that I do. I thank you Jesus for being my rock and showing me how to stand up for your word. I thank you for who you are in my life. God knows what He is doing and when to help me and when to step back so that I can learn how to stand on my own with Him as my covering.

  21. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

Judah=Praise, Praise the Lord your God, My God, Our God

  22. 6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

  23. “Do for GOD what you said you’d do— he is, after all, your God. Let everyone in town bring offerings to the One Who Watches our every move. Nobody gets by with anything, no one plays fast and loose with him.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭76:11-12 MSG

Let your yes be yes and your no be no

Too many times with “good intentions” we give a promise and give our word that something will be done and it’s not. When we do this with God we run a serious risk of angering him with a lie. We must strive for truth in everything that we do.

  24. Hannah: “9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.” God doesn’t want anyone to have a prideful spirit, but instead he wants us to have a meek and humble spirit. He will save the meek and humble in him. He also says how the meek shall inherit the earth. There is no joy in pridefulness. You will have joy when you have a meek spirit in you and others will be drawn towards the Lord when they see his spirit through you. He will save his people and it is my desire to hear those sweet words “well done thy good and faithful servant.”

  25. Wonderful declaration and reminder from the psalmist: ‘In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.’ We are not like those wandering in the world wondering who God is or if he even exists: We know our God! He continues to move amongst his people even today and we magnify his name in praise and worship! We should never forget that we are called by his name! He has placed that great name upon us because he expects us to do great things for him. We have no need to fear, for he is walking daily amongst us and even directs the very steps of the path we need to take. We just need to take the time to truly know who he is and what he desires for our life.

As we do, let us not forget the words in today’s proverb: ‘A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: withsoever it turneth it prospereth.’ We have the most precious gift from God ! We not only know who God is, we not only know his name, his holy spirit has breathed new life within us! We are not limited just by what we see in his tabernacle, we have become the tabernacle of his spirit! Whatever direction we take with him will surely prosper… and we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to his purpose! Not only can we be part of the great things that God is accomplishing, he will work then to our good! We often say that as a reminder in difficult times: why not allow it at all times! Let his name be great!

  26. Psalm76:3 ( English Amp) There He broke the bow’s flashing arrow’s the shield, the sword, and the weapon’s of war, Selah ( pause, and calmly think of that! Thank you God for fighting my battles for me.

  27. Theres roughly 6500 different languages in the entire world but Hallelujah is pronounced exactly the same..God is known everywhere. He is everywhere. The first few verses tell us how known he is. Im constantly reminded how powerful his word is.
4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

  28. 12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

The question is who is leading you? If Jesus is not leading you then you are making your own kingdom. This makes you a king of the earth. You cannot serve yourself and Jesus at the same time. Making Jesus your King means you follow him and not your own way.

    King Jesus My Savior!

  29. 7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Who.is the king of Glory. Strong and mighty. He is a great and marvelous God. He is mighty and strong.

When I read this, my thoughts went to an old English night where people would sit around a fire and tell stories of great battles. And I can imagine someone in the shadows come up and say, ” Have you heard the Great King slay that nasty Dragon?” The people questioned, no. And one of the elders said,”I know of many great kings sir. Of whom do you speak of? Arthur. O’Neal.” ” No!” said the man, “They called him Jesus. You see Jesus is feared by all enemies. But his kingdom and all that dwell there call him Master and king of kings…” The old man stopped the stranger and said,”No one will tell me what to do or when to do it!” The stranger looked at the old man and all that were listening and said, “Those that do not follow the King, will surely die. But the Master promises of a life everlasting. Come with me and see a man. A king. His name is Jesus.”

  30. Psalms 76:3, There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.”

God got us he is our shield of protection! As this world get worse and worse while we wait on the coming of the Lord, We need to ask God to renew our strength and wait upon him because he is coming back for his peoplem Were placing our trust upon God. He is our rock and our refuge.

  31. 1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In our praise God is made know and His chosen people understand the importance of His name.

When we praise God we are declaring to all that He is alive and He desires to fill our lives.

  32. “God is well-known in Judah; in Israel, he’s a household name. He keeps a house in Salem, his own suite of rooms in Zion. That’s where, using arrows for kindling, he made a bonfire of weapons of war.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭76:1-3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Is the Name of Jesus well known in your house? Or is it something you only use at church? Does your friends here you speak about Jesus? We are to be living our testimony at all times, you never know who it could impact.

  33. Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.(Psalms 76:4 KJV)

My God’s name is the most high above all names hes so powerful and beautiful than the mountain of prey!!

  34. At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still.
    Psalms 76:6 NLT

This is just how powerful our God is. Just His breath alone not only does it stop animals but it also have life to man.

  35. 11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Fear God. Humble yourself and obey His commandments.

  36. “Do for GOD what you said you’d do— he is, after all, your God. Let everyone in town bring offerings to the One Who Watches our every move. Nobody gets by with anything, no one plays fast and loose with him.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭76:11-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This passage of scripture reminds me that our commitment that is made to God is important. We must do what we say and follow through. As we consider our commitment for 40 days of Fire must remind ourselves that we must be faithful to our commitment.

  37. Psalm 76:1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

God is known in the mist of your praises. Amongst his people, his name is great.

This brings a twist to our daily lives. We grow up in in church not really learning the value that praise has. We associate is with something that is done in a church building. We couldn’t be further from the truth. What made God amongst the people of Israel was that fact that many a times, it was the tribe of Judah going before them in battle. How God would bring down strong holds through that sound of praise and the sound of instruments.

This weapon is still at our disposal. If we were to praise in the middle of our mess, God would show up strong an mighty and be made known. Next time your in a mess, do your dance and lift a praise unto God and see how he shows off.

  38. 11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Bring your offering to the King and be blessed.

  39. This chapter is both for encouragement that the Lord will subdue our enemy and a warning to fear Him and keep our promises to him. We should keep our vows and give cheerfully bringing gifts to the one who owns the land on a thousand hills (Ps 50:10).

  40. 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

THOU O MY GOD ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!!
JESUS YOU ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!!

  41. 7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

  42. 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

This verse caught my attention, just because it sounded weird, with mountains of prey. Bought as I thought on it and studied it began to make more sense. That just as God’s train filled the temple, God’s glory is greater than all the hunts and good cooking those hunts provide. Which is a cool thought for me to think on.

  43. 6. At thy rebuke, O God of Ja’-cob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep. 7. Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? 8. Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still. Thank you Jesus !!!! I Worship You !!!! You are Great !!!!

  44. 4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

As we prepare for g-force or any other revival, it is easy to get caught up on the physical, and want to see miracles of healings, and other temporary things of this world, but the biggest miracle is a soul being forgiven, having their sins washed away in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ, and them being filled with the Holy Ghost as they speak with other tongues. If all of Heaven rejoices over one soul repenting, shouldn’t we???
