Psalm 78

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

14 In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

15 He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

17 And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

19 Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

20 Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

21 Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

23 Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

25 Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.

26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

30 They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,

31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

33 Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

34 When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.

35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.

44 And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.

45 He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.

47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

50 He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

51 And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

52 But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

53 And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

54 And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.

55 He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:

57 But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

60 So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

61 And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.

62 He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.

63 The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

65 Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.

66 And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.

67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.

70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

71 From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

  1. Verses 1-4 MSG “Listen, dear friends, to God’s truth, bend your ears to what I tell you. I’m chewing on the morsel of a proverb; I’ll let you in on the sweet old truths, Stories we heard from our fathers, counsel we learned at our mother’s knee. We’re not keeping this to ourselves, we’re passing it along to the next generation—God’s fame and fortune, the marvelous things he has done.” Same verses in the AMP plus verse 5 “Listen, O my people, to my teaching; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth [and be willing to learn]. I will open my mouth in a parable [to instruct using examples]; I will utter dark and puzzling sayings of old [that contain important truth]—Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, But [we will] tell to the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, And [tell of] His great might and power and the wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony (a specific precept) in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach to their children [the great facts of God’s transactions with Israel],”.

We learned about how everyone of us has a testimony in our Sunday School class two weeks ago. Even though some of our children may be lost or far from God at the moment, we must continue to testify with our lives, our walk and our constant in Christ. This in itself will be a testament to them in more ways than we know, for it is all in God’s timing and manner.

  2. 35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

Sometimes it can be hard to trust God, it’s doesn’t mean we shouldn’t, but at times it can be challenging. I know there are times when I have read of the Iraealites scoffing at Moses and doubting God would deliver them after they watched him time and time again plague Egypt to rescue them out of their hands and I can remember how could they NOT trust him, why do they doubt God when he just split the red sea before them? What is wrong with them?

But at the same time, I can face a trial and start worrying if God is gonna step in.. there’s no difference. We have seen God time and time again deliver us and bless us one after another after a trial and soon as something faces us and it seems challenging we start to wonder. Then God steps in, intervenes on our behalf and blesses US. Maybe if we could keep our testimonies fresh in our mind what God is capable of doing for what he done, then trusting wouldn’t be as hard as we originally thought. We serve a loving and mighty God who has endless patience for our humanity. God is wonderful!

  3. Don’t limit not anger God because you won’t like the outcome. God can even send evil angels to punish you and just don’t provoke him to be wroth with you! There were many instances where his people angered him or broke covenant . The dessert is no joke, nor the receiving end of God’s wrath! So, love him and submit .

    “Repent”…….

  4. 4. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord , and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

    5. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

    6. That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

    7. That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

If we don’t teach our children to follow the ways of God, the world will teach them not to.

  5. “But he led his own people like a flock of sheep, guiding them safely through the wilderness. He kept them safe so they were not afraid; but the sea covered their enemies.

He chose his servant David, calling him from the sheep pens. He took David from tending the ewes and lambs and made him the shepherd of Jacob’s descendants— God’s own people, Israel. He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:52-53, 70-72‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I am so grateful to be a sheep of Gods pasture. He’s a Good shepherd and He loves us with all of his heart. He looks out for good. He defends us and protects us from our enemies. He is not a hireling. He will stay with us through the good and the bad. He even sacrificed His life to save the sheep.

  6. For he remembered that they were merely mortal gone like a breath of tha never returns. PSALMS 78: 39 NLT

Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace

  7. They angered God by building shrines to other gods; they made him jealous with their idols. When God heard them, he was very angry, and he completely rejected Israel. Then he abandoned his dwelling at Shiloh, the Tabernacle where he had lived among the people. He allowed the Ark of his might to be captured; he surrendered his glory into enemy hands. He gave his people over to be butchered by the sword, because he was so angry with his own people—his special possession.
    Psalms 78:58‭-‬62 NLT

  8. We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord , about his power and his mighty wonders.
    Psalms 78:4 NLT
I will hold back the word of God I will tell everyone I know about the wonderful works of God he doing great things

  9. 38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
This is a rare old testament example of God showing mercy and patience with those who he is angry with. Most of the time under the law He would just kill those who offended Him and disobeys but in this example God gives a glimpse of His new testament mercy and grace and has compassion remembering that we are only flesh. Thank God because his mercies are new every morning!

  10. iLove to GO Blog
“They stubbornly tested God in their hearts,
demanding the foods they craved. They even spoke against God himself, saying,
“God can’t give us food in the wilderness. Yes, he can strike a rock so water gushes out,
but he can’t give his people bread and meat.””
    Psalms 78:18-20

Wow, when we refuse to pay our tithes because we don’t think we can “make it” if we do, we are placed in this category of people that don’t think God can provide food in the wilderness.

I refuse to stubbornly test God in my heart. I choose to believe God can do anything. If we pay our tithes and offering, God will indeed open the windows of heaven and rain down blessings instead of curses.

  11. Chosen for a Purpose
70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

Standing by a fence at 11 years old with tears falling down her face. She lifted her voice and said God use me. Wherever you want to. She could hear the bleeding of the baby lamb from the home she lived in. It’s mother had birth the night before and could not feed it. So it was brought into the house for her to feed with a small baby bottle. The beginning of feeding sheep. See Jesus had all planned out. Teach her to feed a natural little lamb and watch it grow up into a big sheep. Just as God removed David from feeding a flock of sheep into leading an army of men.
We are chosen for a pupose. That seemed so long ago now as I look back over the years. The different flocks of people God has led me into.
Each step of the way ordered by God.
If you are searching today for a purpose the on,y real purpose is a heart willing to do what is set before you. Do it with all of your heart. So God took me at my word when I said Lord use me that day at 11 years old.
He is forever faithful. Write your blessings down share them with your family share them with your friends lead them to the Jesus you know.
You Have Been Chisen For A Purpose!

  12. Beware!

When God is abundantly good to us we are in great danger. We are in danger because in good times it’s easy to forget God and where He brought us from. It’s easy to be so consumed with the gifts and we soon forget the Giver! And if we do that, we end up worshiping the blessings.

The benefit of a trip down memory lane is that it keeps our hearts grateful, humble, and delighted in God for His goodness to us. Memory lapses in our daily routines may be normal for us. Remembering God’s goodness in our lives is something we can’t afford to forget!

  13. Our Generation

5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

What happened to the old time lessons in life where a father would set his children before him and tell them the things of the world and how to live. I remember a friend of mine had a grandpa that would have all the kids in the neighborhood starry eyed sitting on the floor in front of him telling stories that made us think about life and the actions that we take everyday. Ever time the old man opened his mouth it was a lesson in life.

    Proverbs 16:31
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

We should hold fast to our elders and press them to tell us the way. We cannot get all of our council 45 minutes at a time once a week and expect to have all the tools we need to exceed.

A wise man learns from his own mistakes.
A wiser man learns from others mistakes.
The wisest man learns from the success of others.

    Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Just as important is for us to continue the linage of truth and wisdom and pass it down to our children. We are responsible for their mistakes if we don’t teach them. We hear people complain about all the trouble their children are in or how bad their lives have turned out. My first question is, What did you teach them?

  14. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

  15. 35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

Though we are not perfect, as Pastor made the point Sunday, God still expects us to strive for it and be Christ-like. We are but flesh as the verse says, but there’s two examples in these verses of how people served and how they should’ve served. They gave God lip service instead of truelying serving Him with a right heart. Thank God for being so merciful when we try to get by on going through the motions. Remember He is our rock, He is our salvation and for me that’s more than enough goodness and love to convince me to live a holy life like unto His.

  16. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. JSOLIZ

  17. 38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

We must have our heart right with God at all times. We can’t be double minded-living for our wants and desires, then suddenly realizing God is the answer. Vs 41 says by turning back from living for God, we limit Him. What blessings are we missing, what miracles are we missing by taking the matters of life into our own hands? It takes time, but we can learn to give Him even the smallest details of our life and then live the abundant life He desires to gives us.

  18. Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation: Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.
    Psalms 78:21‭-‬25 KJV

Where is the trust in God? I know that I have temped Him and He has shown me that He is not to be tested on trust. Everything that I have is because of God: but yet I still have trust issues in areas of my life. To be one of the children that walked in the forest for 40 years; eating the perfect food and having a man of God in front of me. Wow, what a testimony in and of itself. To know that even through times of complaining and self pity that God is with me. He is always there: whether I am or not. To know the pit He pulled me from. God is awesome in that He deals with me daily in my struggle to stay in His word and on the path of righteousness. I thank God for being my rock and comforter in my time of trouble. I will praise Him and glorify His name with every breath I take. He is my provider and my healer. Thank you Jesus for being there all the time.

  19. 40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

Unfortunately it is true that when trouble arises we cry out to God and instead of trusting we accuse, “God What did I do? Why are you doing this to me? ” Brother Linton talked about amnesia, we forget the good and focus on the bad, and then wonder why we are in the situation for so long! Please forgive me Lord for provoking you, and being ungrateful! You are a great and mighty God and always there for me, weather I deserve it or not!

  20. GO WITH FAITH IN GOD

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

We witness in this chapter a testimony of the “Poverty Mentality” . I do not believe that people like being poor in spirit or enjoy being needy. Unfortunately it is a mindset of the faithless society that we witness even today.

Consider the cause of this mentality. It began when they refused to GO possess Canaan WITH FAITH IN GOD. They chose rather to believe the 10 unbelievers than the 2 believers. This same spiritual poverty happens today when believers choose to hear the nay sayers than the FAITH SPEAKERS.

Praising JESUS at some point in everyday for HIS Blessings great and small is a key to maintaining an attitude of thanksgiving. If someone bought you a meal, whether in person or via gift card, it is a BLESSING from GOD and worthy to be celebrated. If you received a financial BLESSING or a timely word of inspiration, it is a BLESSING to be celebrated.

Do not turn back in FAITH, we only tempt GOD and limit HIM in our lives. GO WITH FAITH IN GOD.

Living in obedience to HIS WORD and Spiritual Authority in our lives.

  21. “He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭78:70-72‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from, God can take those who at their lowest point and use them to do great things and lead a great people. He doesn’t care who you are, He cares how faithful to Him you are! If you are living for Him unconditionally, there is no limit to what you can do through Him!!

  22. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

The greatest legacy we can leave is to teach the Truth to our children and their children. Too many young adults grow up not knowing why we believe what we do and not understanding the fences that have been placed in their lives for their protection. We must make the vision plan, not just in where we are going as a family and as a church, but why we are going there as well.

I am reminded of a comical story of young girl learning to cook her first Christmas dinner and when it came time to cook the Ham, her mother said “now cut the end of that ham off before you put it in the pan.” Curiously she asked what the purpose of that was. Her Mother’s replied, “Because that’ss how your grandmother taught me to cook ham.” After the meal was complete and the family was setting around visiting, the young girl curiously asked the grandmother about the ham. “Grandmother, when you put the ham in the pan to cook for Christmas, why do you cut the end off?” Laughing out loud the Grandmother replied “because the ham was bigger than my pan.” After a good laugh, they realized all these years they had kept a tradition that had no meaning, they just did it because that’s how they saw grandmother do it.

We must not take that approach with our families. It is our God given duty to instruct them in the ways of the Lord. Mom/Dad – instruct. SS Teacher – Instruct. IMPACT Teachers – instruct. Elders – instruct the younger.

  23. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Vs-32
It’s no.t enough to be open about who God is and what he’s done for us. It’s also necessary to be honest about our own frailties and failings. How important for us and our children to k.now that he is loving forgiving God. He disciplines us when we Sin but never withdraws His Love

  24. Psalms 78:2-8 (NLT)
    2) for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past –
    3) stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us.
    4) We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.
    5) For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children,
    6) so the next generation might know them – even the children not yet born – and they in turn will teach their own children.
    7) So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.
    8) Then they will not be like their ancestors – stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.

I love being a Sunday School Teacher. I love telling the children about the Glorious Deeds, Power, and Mighty Wonders of the LORD. I love telling them that God did it back then and He’s still doing it today. (He can do it for them too). We MUST TEACH and TELL this generation of children about the Glorious a Deeds, Power, and Mighty Wonders of the Lord, so that they can Teach the next generation, and so that they will not grow up stubborn, rebellious, and refusing to give their hearts to God.

One of my favorite scripture passages as a Sunday School Teacher is 2 Timothy 3:14-15. (NLT) “But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus,”

    GO Teach – GO Tell

  25. “For He [graciously] remembered that they were mere [human] flesh, A wind that goes and does not return.”
    ‭‭PSALM‬ ‭78:39‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness And grieved Him in the desert!”
    ‭‭PSALM‬ ‭78:40‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Again and again they tempted God, And distressed the Holy One of Israel.”
    ‭‭PSALM‬ ‭78:41‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“They did not remember [the miracles worked by] His [powerful] hand, Nor the day when He redeemed them from the enemy,”
    ‭‭PSALM‬ ‭78:42‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  26. 6 so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children. NIV

We need to teach the children of this nation about God before they grow up and completely know nothing about him, like a baby when it gets old enough to talk it says what you’ve taught him/she so if we teach them while they’re young God can be what they speak and they can reach the people around them even at a young age!

  27. 1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I have been baptized for 9 years and not until I came to POFW I completely inclined my ear to God! I thought it was okay to do whatever I wanted to do and still come to church but what I didn’t realize was that I was going straight to hell. I was doing NOTHING for his kingdom!!! Here is where I learned how to have a relationship with God, here is where I learned to sacrifice, give, do outreach, teach HBS, minister, worship, praise, got renewed with the HG, and gave myself to Him. Thank you Lord for bringing me here!!! Through His spirit he has transformed me and for thank I rejoice. Thank you Pastor and Sis Watts for investing time in us!!! Love y’all!!!

  28. 5-8 He planted a witness in Jacob, set his Word firmly in Israel, Then commanded our parents to teach it to their children So the next generation would know, and all the generations to come—Know the truth and tell the stories so their children can trust in God, Never forget the works of God but keep his commands to the letter. Heaven forbid they should be like their parents, bullheaded and bad, A fickle and faithless bunch who never stayed true to God.

Let every generation know about you God! I pray that this generation now will obey and learn from the generation above us. Let us learn from our elders about the mistakes they made and the blessings God has done for them. I pray they give us the wisdom and knowledge and we will revive it in obedience. Let this generation have a passion and fire for God that will turn this world around and lead them to you God! As we learn from the generations above us I pray this generation will pass on the hunger and fire we have for God and the next will go out and do the same but have a hunger for more than before to take place in this world. The only way to share Gods work is if we GO out into this generation and make an impact on them for God! In the name of Jesus this generation and more to come will be the spark in this world that will start a wild fire to spread across this world and it all be to shine for You!

  29. Josiah: 34 When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
Blessed are those who have not seen and believe. It is so much better to serve the Lord at all times. For God “shall never suffer the righteous to be moved” Psalm 55:22. The Lord is my rock and my redeemer. My continual place of rest. When Israel turned away from God they had troubles yet when they went so low they turned back to the only thing they knew they could truly trust in. And, when they turned back to the Lord, they were blessed. Yet we do not have to wander 40 years in the wilderness. We can have the blessings of the Lord now. We can Go in the name of Jesus! BLESSED BE THE LORD OF LORDS AND THE KING OF KINGS! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  30. 1 Oh my people, hear my teachings listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in parables I will utter hidden things, things from of old-
3 what we have heard and known what our fathers have told us.

11They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.

39 He remember that they were but flash, a passing breeze that does not return
42 They did not remember his power the day he we deem them from the oppressor

  31. 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

Don’t be your past. Your future awaits. You are the only person who can change your future. You and God. You have many choices in life, so make the right ones with God in the middle of it all. Keep him in the center of it all.

  32. Some important principles in this Psalm that are still essential to our walk with God today. ‘Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.’ The psalmist thought it important to begin with a reminder of the law, the very foundation upon which the rest is built. We cannot overestimate the importance of the foundation of his word in our walk with God. They should not seem strange to us, those reminders of that ‘which we have heard and known.’ We need to hear his word! We need to value his word! We need to love and live his word!

Not only do we need to hear for ourselves, ‘We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done… which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:’

Every generation needs that hope of his salvation in their lives! This Psalm contains a litany of the failures of Israel in their walk with God and the key to avoiding those mistakes is right here in the opening verses. Build your house upon that solid foundation of his word and allow that same truth to prosper in the lives of our children and all those who willingly choose to join us hand in hand. Future generations need that same strength, which is why his truth shall endure to all generations! We need to do our part to pass that torch to those that follow after us with as bright a flame as that which was kindled when we received it! We need to know and receive in our hearts ‘that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer’ and act upon it with all of our strength!

  33. 4 We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.

Yes, its up to parents to speak and teach the Word of God to their children. More than likely this process will continue for generations to come. Children real learn from examples they see on a daily basis. Let us show our children love, joy, peace, obedience and holiness.

  34. 41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

Many times we may wonder why God as not acted or done something for us…could it be that we are limiting God from acting in our favor by getting out of alignment in the Kingdom of God? Prayerfully we should consider our own lives and do an internal check up and ask God to search us and the intent of our hearts. We see example after example of the children of God and their relationship with God. We need go grasp the message that God is for us and lets us know what to do and how to do life.

  35. Hannah: “38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. 39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.” He is so full of compassion and keeps forgiving our inquinities every time. His mercy is great and even when you do the worst thing possible he has enough mercy to forgive you when you pray for his forgiveness. None of us would be where we are without his mercy and no one could make it without him. He turns his anger aside and no one could repay him for everything he has done in their life. He keeps on showing his mercy and I will always keep thanking him for everything. He is my savior and my redeemer.

  36. 1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

It can be easy at times to feel like you may have everything all together spritually and take the shovel and throw the message of the word of God to someone else saying “this isnt for me”.. Or I know exactly how be is talking about. We can miss the point why the certain situations is being brought up and end up in the same situation in the long run. So lets bot be full of pride thinking we dont have to listen to the word of God because we heard in time and time again.

  37. This Psalm is a good reminder to me to always remember what God has done for me and to give Him glory for what He has done. As this Psalm progresses it is easy to see that God did so much for the children of Israel! Despite that sometimes they were ungrateful and fell away from the things of God, He was still right there for them when they repented of their ways. He was still willing to do great things in their lives!
As 1 Samuel 12 says, “Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the Lord , but serve the Lord with all your heart;  And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.  For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.”
God will always try to draw us near to Him, even if we have sinned in the past, He will forgive us! I can always praise God for His mercy, grace, and never ending love!

  38. 35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

    We start with the foundation.
When we have a solid foundation built with scripture and prayer and fasting we cannot be broken. We will only fear the Lord and walk this earth courageously.
The importance that comes with this foundation is praise to the King. The Almighty one and only God. We serve a God so powerful. The word of God is something we can not argue with. If it says hes miraculous then HES MIRACULOUS. Give God the glory for the accomplishments he brings into your life
    God bless you all!

  39. “He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:72‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God only wants the best for us, His children. Just as we do for our own children. Just as there are times when correcting our own children we do it with a true heart and skillful hand. It’s never in spite or trying to hurt the child. It’s the same for God. He’s only molding us into He needs us to be.

  40. 27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

    29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

  41. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
I am reminded of the words told to me by a wise woman in the Lord when I was just a babe in Christ. She said, ” God does not have any grandchildren”.
We have read how when the children of Israel turned their backs on God, they and their children suffered. If I do not take the time to teach my children about Jesus and instill a love for him in them; I am risking that they may never know him for themselves and risk being lost for eternity. When we teach our kids about Jesus both in word and our christian example; they learn the blessings of living this life for an eternity with Jesus and not for a fleeting moment of empty joy in this world.

  42. NIV 35. They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer. 36. But then they would flatter him with their mouths, lying to him with tongues; 37. their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant. 38. Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath. 39. He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return. You are my Rock O LORD !!!! You are my fortress !!!!

  43. 72 He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.

When leading people in the way of the Lord we must take good care of our own selves as well. We must make sure our hearts are right. Our love for God and people must be genuine. Many can see throw fake people and we must also handle people with wisdom. Not everyone is the same and God is able to lead us to deal with each person and lead them according to the way He would lead them.

  44. Verses 21-25, spoke to me because it tells how God was worth with Israel, because they believed not one God (22) nor despite all God had done they did not trust God for their salvation. So God left their tabernacle (60) which he placed among them and delivered his strength into captivity and Gave his Glory to their enemies(61). All of which spoke to me. that God has allowed me to see him do many things, which is a reminder of the reasons I believe in God and gives me a testimony so that others can believe as well. And to trust in God for my deliverance and path, so that God does not leave my life. For God is Great and Greatly to be praised.

  45. If people don’t learn from their mistakes the negative aspects of human history are destined to repeat themselves. That why God ordained that his statutes and principles along with the stories of His miraculous works be passed down from generation to generation. God urges them and us to pass this torch (Deut 6:7). Evangelism occurs when a person passes his or her knowledge and experience to another so that the kingdom of God is perpetuated and disciples are made. We will have opportunities to tell others about God’s miracles, signs and wonders anywhere and to anyone.

  46. “For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:37-40

Over and over he Lord is gracious. People often take advantage of his mercies. We need to remember that even though Jesusis quick to forgive that repentance means turning from something. It also means that we don’t return.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
