Psalm 79

O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  1. O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
    Psalms 79:8‭-‬9 KJV

We cry unto God to not use our iniquuties against us. We ask Him to help us with our salvation, but what are we doing for God to earn that help and deliverance. We ask Him to to purge us of our sins: are we staying away from sin or running face first into it. Let not your feet make haste to the things of the world; instead turn yourself to the Lord and His Kingdom. Learn His word and establish your room in His house.

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
    Psalms 79:13 KJV

  2. 9. Help us, O God who saves us, to the honor and glory of Your name. Pull us up, deliver us, and forgive our sins, for Your name’s sake.

When God delivers us out of our troubles, it’s for His Name’s sake and because of His mercy; not because we deserve it.

  3. Verse 13 CEV “Then we, your people, will always thank you. We are like sheep with you as our shepherd, and all generations will hear us praise you.” Same verse NKJV “So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations.” Psalm 23:1 AMP “The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want.” Same verse NLT “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Psalm 16:11 NLT says “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

  4. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!! And I will praise You and thank You for all You have done.

  5. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed

Magnify the Lord above who only is able to purge the sickness of sin from us. When the Lord was indignant against the Israelites for continuing to murmur against him, he was prepared to wipe them out (and was justified) and start over with Moses, intervened on their behalf and told God the other nations would scoff that God had delivered them just to kill them into the desert. God kindled his wrath and showed mercy that was underserved bc a man that stood in the gap for the peoples evil way.

  6. O God, pagan nations have conquered your land, your special possession. They have defiled your holy Temple and made Jerusalem a heap of ruins.
    Psalms 79:1 NLT

I was looking on Facebook yesterday and saw a sister on there that use to come to church. She fell away from church. She was so passionate and on fire for God and now she is involved with ungodly things and openly supports other religious beliefs on her page. This was a saint of the Mist High God and I still call her friend. But the temple that God made holy has been greatly defiled and she is under great deception and broken. This hurts to see this. My God. I pray that those You have claimed as Yours will be risen back up, healed, brought back into Your house, into Your presence O LORD! In Jesus name

  7. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

For your name sake. Lord it is only you that can keep us and deliver us from anything that would displease You. Create in me a clean heart that I may be a usable instrument in your hands.
Purgeing all impurities of sin or any thing that would bring shame to your name. Let your glory be seen and not anything in my own flesh. Coming humbly before you I pray my life is a reflection of your glory.
Thank You Lord for You are my strength and my life.
Do not allow any obstacle that comes our way to be a stumbling block to those who would be near but let your glory and peace be portrayed in actions and attitude this I pray as we journey through this day.
    In Jesus Name,

  8. O God, pagan nations have conquered your land, your special possession. They have defiled your holy Temple and made Jerusalem a heap of ruins.
    Psalms 79:1 NLT

This verse was written thousands of years ago but it still reigns true today. The pagan world has seemed to take over and ungodliness is at a all time high. Diffrent false religions have committed terrorist acts destroying temples and desecrated the holy land. Nonetheless the kingdom of God stands strong and Gods truth is marching on!

  9. iLove to Go Blog
1O God, pagan nations have conquered your land,
    your special possession.
They have defiled your holy Temple
and made Jerusalem a heap of ruins.

When I read this above mentioned scripture, immediately I thought of the backslider. I thought of those I know who received the Holy Ghost only for the pagan devil to come and defile that temple of the Holy Ghost. It’s a very sad day when folks allow the enemy to conquer them and ruin their lives.

There is hope for the backslider however. All they have to do is repent. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

  10. How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

What this verse means to me is these are questions in the End times Jesus is coming back soon and we must me ready for his return. Go Reach
    Go in Jesus Name Amen

  11. 11 Listen to the moaning of the prisoners.
Demonstrate your great power by saving those condemned to die.

You know who is crying out Lord, you know who is bound, you know who is desperate for you. Help me Lord know who is imprisooned by the enemy. I know and have seen souls be bound and you deliver them. Help me Lord to bring them to your house. Here is where souls are going to get delivered, receive the HG, get baptized, LEARN, and be free!!!!

  12. Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.
    Psalms 79:9 NLT
I will trust in you GOD no matter what come my way I understand you do things to help us and warn us we don’t always understand but I know all things are working for our Good if we trust in you
So day GOD help me to do better save me from the harm of this world lead me and teach me to lead other in your wonderful light your word is ture and it will stand forever in my heart

  13. God can accomodate the backslider the sinner the traitor and just plain ignorer of the word. Jesus is the only way. My comforter and my rock through it all.

  14. We all know what anger is because we have all experienced it, whether as a fleeting annoyance or as full-blown rage.

In general, we may become angry whenever we are not able to achieve a goal. Life is full of frustrations from minor irritations to something really big. When we use our anger to motivate us to change something in our life, anger ends up being good and helpful. But for many people anger results in irritability, rage, wrath, stress, resentment, loss of confidence, depression and other negative behaviors.

Anger is a fundamental emotion that everyone experiences from time to time. From a very early age, we learn to express anger by copying the angry behavior we see modeled around us, and by expressing angry behavior and seeing what we can get away with.

Remember, we cannot eliminate anger. In spite of all our efforts, things will happen that will cause us anger. Life is filled with frustration, pain, loss, and the unpredictable actions of others. We can’t change that; but we can change the way we let such events affect us. Controlling our angry responses can keep us from making ourselves even more unhappy in the long run.

  15. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

    For thy name’s sake

Sometimes God shows Himself for the sake of His name being preserved! We must understand that man will strive to do right and sin has often overtaken great men and women of God with great influence. Some will follow their bad example leaving few to carry out the plan that was spread among many.

The faithful few will fight as hard as they can yet they do not fight alone. For His names sake God will show himself mighty among them. I would rather be with the few than the many! Why? For with God the few become the majority as long as they follow after Him.

  16. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

You are the only God who’s mercy is made new every morning, No other god can save, deliver, forgive and restore! None can compare to You!

Jesus today You will save me, You will deliver me out of my ways and into Yours. And for that I will lift and glorify Your name all the days of my life!

  17. GO IN PRAISE

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Growing in GOD and understanding HIS Love for and to us is an Impacting and Life changing revelation. The Love of GOD should birth in us a HOPE, PEACE and JOY like none other. The public verbal and emotional expression of this revelation is PRAISE.

When we realize that JESUS is our GOD and that HE alone is able to provide for us, we are compelled to THANK HIM for all HIS goodness, mercy and grace toward us. Because of who JESUS is we develop a lifestyle of PRAISE to GOD. PRAISE is a normal and natural response to anything and everything that happens. Real PRAISE does not require a specific song or style of music. Real PRAISE leads the song. PRAISE needs no song at all. PRAISE is a weapon to refuse the adversary access to our mind. It begins when we realize that we are the sheep of HIS pasture.

When in pain we PRAISE through PAIN. When we are rejected, we PRAISE through isolation. When we are hurt, we PRAISE through our emotions. When we are accused we PRAISE over the accusation.

Lets shock the region of Fort Worth, TX with unreserved, unashamed, unending PRAISE to LORD JESUS as described here in the MSG version.

    MSG
13 Then we, your people, the ones you love and care for,
will thank you over and over and over.
    We’ll tell everyone we meet

Bless you all today in JESUS name!

  18. Psalms 79:11, “Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die.”

Isaiah 42:7, “To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

At one time, we were all prisoners sitting in darkness in the prison house and held captive by the chains of sin, BUT Thank God, He heard our sighs and preserved us (kept us alive). He loosed our chains of sin and brought us out of the prison house and out of darkness and into his Marvelous Light.
Yet there are still millions of souls today who are prisoners sitting in darkness and held captive by the chains of sin. Let’s Pray for them that God will hear their sighs and preserve them too. That He will loose their chains of sin and bring them out of the prison house, out of darkness and into His Marvelous Light.

Let’s GO PRAY and Let’s GO TELL them about the GREAT SAVING POWER of JESUS CHRIST!

  19. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Thank You Lord for my Salvation!

  20. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Our own account – I’m thankful that the inquiries of our forefathers are not held against us. We are all given our own account that we are responsible for and we will an account unto God for. We cannot get to heaven on the good deeds or relationship that a relative has, nor will we be judged on the deeds of another. This is why it is so important that we train/teach our children now while they are young the whys/hows of a relationship with the Lord. His tender mercies are new every morning to us, but we must not take advantage of that. We must live according to His ways as an example to those that are following us.

  21. I Love To Worship The Lord
Asaph laments over a devastating invasion of Jerusaalem and begs God to deliver his people by judging their hostile neighbors. When God acts His people will praise Him forever

  22. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

YES YES YES!!! If YOU did not bless me anymore, I would continue to bless your name, for SALVATION IS FAR MORE THAN I COULD EVER IMAGINE OR REPAY. I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

    • Isaiah 64:6King James Version (KJV)

6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

  23. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Let’s let God be God in our lives and do all we can to not fall into sin. Let God fulfill His purpose in your life.

  24. 1 O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

This reminded me of a preacher that preached about how the world had prevented the word love. Which they have they misinterpreted the word to cover word lust. Some churches have prevented the gospel and caused confusion, confusion that leads to their own personal feel good church.

  25. There psalmist makes a passionate cry to God that should sound familiar to us all as we look back to our own conversion and repentance before him: ‘O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.’ Of course, Israel had to make this cry on numerous occasions as they slid back away from God. That does not have to be the case in our walk with God. Yes, we will always have to deal with sin but it doesn’t have to consume us. Our prayer when salvation comes to our life should agree with the latter words of the psalmist… purge away our sins. Give me a new heart, give me a new desire, give me a new direction in my life that continues to bring me every closer to him! Let my salvation be sure in his hands!

  26. Josiah: 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
Oh how good it is to be the sheep of the Lord’s pasture. For God’s people do not have to worry about whether or not we will be able to get through the trial. We do not have worry about what this world can do to us because if God is for us who can stand against? We may be like sheep sent among wolves but our Shepherd will prevail. We are like a house built upon the rock that stood when the storm came through. This world is like a house that was built upon the sand and when the storm came the house fell. I can rejoice and be glad this day because I am part of God’s chosen people. I am a sheep in the Lord’s pasture. BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD. HIS GLORIOUS NAME! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  27. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. When we come to repentance and cry unto the God of our salvation; he forgives us. The most humbling part of this is that he does not have to forgive us but that he chooses to for his glory! I pray that I never take his saving grace for granted but will humble myself and cry out to God to purge me of all that will prevent me from being forever with him

  28. 8 Do not hold us guilty for the sins of our ancestors! Let your compassion quickly meet our needs, for we are on the brink of despair.

I agree with this statement, “do not hold us guilty for the sins of our ancestors”. We are each responsible for our sins. Our parents, friends or coworkers aren’t responsible for the sins we commit. God gave us the ability to choose between wrong and right. No matter your background you come from, we all can come to Christ and live a holy life.

  29. When we praise our God things begin to change. Praising God is not about just making noise, but there is power behind it. It gives us the strength we need to defend ourselves against the enemy.

  30. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

Purge me from the wickedness of this world God. I got to be save my family got to be saved. Take this whole world gibe me Jesus! Im not goinv to be a fool and say there is no God. God you are the reason we live and have our being. Om so grateful to have the opportunity to know truth.

  31. Psalm 79:9 English Amp ) Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name! Deliver us , forgive us , and purge away our sins for Your name’s sake. Lord convict hearts of people so that will repent for their sins for your Mighty Name ( Jesus I plead your blood from the north , south, east , west. The love of Jesus is for everyone, He waiting for you.

  32. 9. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. 10. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed. 11. Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; 12. And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord. 13. So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. I THANK YOU LORD !!!! I GIVE YOU THANKS FOR FORGIVENESS !!!!

  33. Hannah : “9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.” His name is glorious and he is the only one who can take our sins away. When we pray through he erases all our sin and shows forth his mercy. Everyone’s hearts would be black if he didn’t clean them but we have a loving God who died for our sins. He is so great and without him I would be nothing. He has so much mercy that every time we fall down he has stretched out his hand to bring us back to our feet when we call on his name. He deserves all our praise and even that wouldn’t be enough for everything he has done in our lives.

  34. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

This must be our prayer everyday. My God. My salvation. We need him everyday. Every hour, every minute. I need Jesus more now than I did 5 minutes ago. He is my all, my everything.#GOdosomething

  35. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

If it wasnt for the blood of Jesus where would i be today.
Today i wouldnt be safe, nor comfortable in my bed.
I wpuldnt be typimg any of this amd committing myself to God or the Church i attend.
If it wasnt for the blood of Jesus whos to say i would be breathing at all.
I know now how powerful God is. That hes capable to deliver me in the matter of seconds.
I heard Pastor say the exact same thing.
There is Power in the name of Jesus

    God bless you all!

  36. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus is the only way to wash away ones sins. He has redeemed us and His blood has washed away our sins. Psalms 103:12 says “as far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” thank you Jesus for the blood and your mercy.

  37. The glory belongs to Him

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

God doesn’t deliver sometimes because he’s not sure if he will get the glory.

  38. v9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for the name’s sake.

THANKFUL for HIS cleansing blood! JESUS CHRIST is read, willing, and very well able to Cleanse us through HIS death, burial, and resurrection.

  39. Reading this I am struck by how often even David in the old testament asked God for forgiveness. Even if there was only the slight chance that it seemed as if God was angry with him or his fellow countrymen, he would ask God for forgiveness. I am reminded and very grateful that God is a gracious and merciful God. We need only to truly repent, and He will forgive us! “Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” At the same time of David asking for forgiveness, he also asks for curses on the heathen in his lands. It is a very solemn reminder that life is not all “fun and games”. There are results for everyone of our actions, whether for good or for bad. I want to be sure that I am always doing good in His eyes and to stay sure and steady on the path He has set before me! “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

  40. “Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a privilege we have to be able to call out to God in prayer. He is faithful to hear us when we come with a heart of worship. His arm is not short nor His ear heavy. He is not lack concerning His promises.

  41. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Verse 9 reminded me that as with all things All glory goes to God. And that when God purges my sin that it is not to my credit or my walk, but all glory and credit is due to his Name of Jesus. My life be a glory unto his name, and not to mine.

  42. The attack and destruction referred to is most likely Babylonian invasion of 585 B.C. (2Ki 25: 8-11). Many Jews are killed and hundreds are deported by the conquerring King Nebuchadnezzar who also steals from the temple (2Ch 36:18-19). A new temple isn’t completed until 70 years later (Ezra 6:15) as God’s people pay a high price in exile and death for their sin. Sin will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want and cost you more than you want to pay. Rebuilding that structure and foundation is fundamental, essential and painful. Getting back right with God is worth it all.

  43. “O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭79:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There can be a great humbling that is brought from the Lord. Sometimes when it comes we seem to think it is more than we can bare. I know that when we ask for forgiveness the Lord forgives. Often it is our very own mind that brings the condemnation upon us. We remember where Jesus forgives. Our pasts can come back to haunt our memories. I thank Jesus that we can “think ourselves happy” and we can “encourage ourselves” in the Lord. These two things will help us to no longer be brought low.

  44. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

    For thy names sake

The objective is always to bring him glory. In any situation, wether it may seem good or bad in our eyes, how can God get glory.

If we plead with God on doing things for his kingdom for His names sake, we are taking our personal agenda out of it. Many times in our functions and events when they a geared towards somehow bringing glory to something other then Him, we inject a personal agenda to it.

But is we were to do all things, for the sake of His name, what difference would there be? We open the door for God to show off.
