Psalm 80

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

  1. 19. O Eternal God, Commander of heaven’s armies, bring us back to You. Turn the light of Your face upon us so that we will be rescued from this sea of darkness.

A fitting prayer for our nation, as she has wandered so far into the darkness!

  2. GO PRAY

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

As the eternal call for mankind quickly aproaches its call. It is time for the children of GOD, the Church, more specifically ME. It is TIME for us to call on the name of the LORD and be quickened or turned to GOD in a sincere quest and approach to serving the LORD.

Today we, the Church must GO PRAY that the LORD will cause HIS face to shine on us and we seek HIS face and HE will lead and guide us to HIS salvation and redemption through HIS WORD and SPIRIT.

    Shine
7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
The only way for us to truly shine is for us to reflect the Glory of God. There is nothing good within ourselves to shine into this dark world. We need the oil, and we need the FIRE of God. Let’s turn back to the Light giver and SHINE…This song is for you sis Johnson…

    “Shine”

    Dull as dirt
You can’t assert the kind of light
    That might persuade
    A strict dictator to retire
    Fire the army
    Teach the poor origami
    The truth is in
    The proof is when
You hear your heart start asking,
    “What’s my motivation?”

And try as you may, there isn’t a way
To explain the kind of change
That would make an Eskimo renounce fur
That would make a vegetarian barbecue hamster
Unless you can trace this about-face
    To a certain sign…

    [Chorus]
    Shine
Make ’em wonder what you’ve got
Make ’em wish that they were not
    On the outside looking bored
    Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let’em see good works, and then
    Let ’em glorify the Lord

Out of the shaker and onto the plate
    It isn’t Karma
    It sure ain’t fate
That would make a Deadhead sell his van
That would make a schizophrenic turn in his crayons
    Oprah freaks
    And science seeks a rationale
    That shall excuse
    This strange behavior

    When you let it shine
    You will inspire
    The kind of entire turnaround
That would make a bouncer take ballet
    (even bouncers who aren’t happy)
    But out of the glare
    With nowhere to turn
You ain’t gonna learn it on “What’s My Line?”

  4. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

We are all made by HIM, for HE has known me before the womb of my mother, HALELUJAH!!!
    THANK YOU DADDY!!!

  5. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved

As powerful and great as God is, as wonderful in light he shines, of all the things he created, we have the ability to make God shine, we can make him happy. Just by doing what he originally created us to do, it bring HIM joy. How great as thing is it that we can draw close to the God of the universe and we can cause him to shine. What an honor it is to be able to do that.

  6. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

I don’t ever want to know what it feels like to have God turn His face away from me, but the psalmist says this exact text three specific times in this chapter. Return Your presence, Your face, Your blessings to shine on us. How much do you have to mess up to get the Most powerful supernatural God of the Universe made out of purest love mad at you???? I don’t want to know.

  7. 7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
    You are the light
Let your let your light shine so everyone can see you mighty works

  8. Strengthen the man you love, the son of you choice.
Then we will never abandon you again RIVIVE US so we can call on your name one more. Turen us again to yourself, O Lord God of heaven’s Armies. Make you face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.
    PSALMS 80: 17, 18, 19 NLT

  9. 19. O Eternal God, Commander of heaven’s armies, bring us back to You. Turn the light of Your face upon us so that we will be rescued from this sea of darkness.

Without God’s light shining down on us were blind from the darkness of this world. We must have the light of God’s grace illuminating our way. We also must have God’s word because his word is “a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”.

  10. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Look upon us today, O Lord, through eyes of mercy and save us! We are far from perfect and we need You to shine Your face upon all men so that we shall be saved. JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!

  11. Three times in this verse the psalmist repeats: ‘Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.’ He first reminds himself of the strength of his shepherd and the holy place where he dwells. O how easy it is to recognize his strength in the midst of his power in the sanctuary! If he just continues to allow his glory to shine upon us, we know we shall be saved!

Notice though that he then reminds himself of where Israel stood before God… so much so that even their enemies laughed at their state. These would be the same enemies they’d vanquished time and time again, who are now taking advantage of their fallen condition. How like the enemy of our soul to do the same. Just like everyone else, he knows when we’re not right with God and tries to take advantage. Yet the psalmist responds with the same declaration of faith!

He reminds himself of the great and tender work of God when they first received his promise. He recalls all that God had done before they drifted away in their own distractions. He cries out to God that his desire is still the same. Note he doesn’t dwell in his sorrow. He reminds himself of his plight as he calls out to God in the midst of his oppression and declares yet again the same statement of faith in God and power of his salvation!

Just prior to his final cry, he makes another declaration: ‘So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.’ They may have fallen into sin and be ashamed at the state Israel is in, but he did not become defeatist in his attitude. He asked for good to quicken them to their former state with such strength that they would not fall back again. If we find ourselves in that same place in our walk we need to remember that God is always there for us! If our heart is sincere and we need the strength of his salvation in our life, allow our soul to have that same faith in God! Demonstrate our first love!

  12. what this chapter means to me is God wants us to be saved but we must start listening to him and follow what he wants us to do he is the Beginning and the End and the First and Last.

    Go in Jesus Name Amen

  13. AMP – 3 Restore us, O God;
    Cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved. 7 Restore us, O God of hosts;
    And cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved. 19 Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;
Cause Your face to shine on us [in favor and approval], and we shall be saved.

Restore – bring back (a previous right, practice, custom, or situation); reinstate, return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position, repair or renovate (a building, work of art, vehicle, etc.) so as to return it to its original condition.

3 times in this chapter David cries for RESTORATION. Bringing back what once was.

During 40 days of FIRE my prayer is that passion for the things of God will be restored to every believer. Focus will be removed from “self” and placed again on God.

Fire will be restored in lives, fire for Jesus, fire in families, fire in marriages, fire in finances, fire in outreach ……. fire, fire, fire

  14. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

  15. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Are you a man, or are you a mouse?

This is an old saying to them that are afraid of something and want to run but know that they must fight. But instead of this saying. My quote would be, are you on the right, or left hand of God. Are with us or against us. We must be able to trust those that we are fighting beside.
I had the opportunity this Tuesday night to share dinner with a hero, of our armed forces. As she was explaining to us at the table what she witnessed, she told a story. When she went on patrol she had a soldier that made a comment. And from that point on she knew she was a liability to the mission. Now what that means, if you don’t know, is where the liability is a danger to the mission. Not because they are bad person, but rather not confident in what they are.
This got me to thinking. How many of us truly know who we are fight beside? There must be unity in the ranks of the Lords army. So when I said are you on the right or left hand of God. What I mean is are you with us or against us. Because we are going, going forward and we will win.

    #GOdosomething

  16. 1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth

Oh my dear Shepherd lead me in your ways. Let your peace forever surround yourself every step. Create in me Lord your ways daily and renew in me each moment what You want from me.
    In Jesus Name.

  17. 7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Turn us again would imply one is ready to allow God to take control of one’s life. For those of us who are control freaks – this is a really hard lesson to learn and activity to continue to observe. You know you’re surrendered to God when you rely on God to work things out instead of trying to manipulate others, force your agenda, and control the situation. You let go and let God work. You don’t have to always be in charge. Instead of trying harder, you trust more.

You also know you’re surrendered when you don’t react to criticism and rush to defend yourself.

Surrendered hearts show up best in relationships. You are not self-serving, you don’t edge others out, and you don’t demand your rights. The supreme example of self-surrender is Jesus. The night before his crucifixion Jesus surrendered himself to God’s plan. He prayed, “Father, everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine” (Mark 14:36 NLT).

Jesus surrendered himself to God’s will. He prayed, “God, if it is in your best interest to remove this suffering, please do so. But if it fulfills your purpose, that’s what I want, too.” Genuine surrender says, “Father, if this problem, pain, sickness, or circumstance is needed to fulfill your purpose and glory in my life or in another’s life, please don’t take it away!”

  18. Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine; And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
    Psalms 80:14‭-‬15 KJV

In my time of need: I ask God to be there for me, but when all is good. I tend to leave God out; this is where I should call on the name of Jesus. His name should be a praise from my lips always. I am a part of the vine that seeks to be as a part of His kingdom. I don’t want to be burnt up in the fire. I want to be a living sacrifice for God. Let me not stumble in these latter days, but strengthen me in your word and help me to grow into the warrior that you have called me to be. I thank you Jesus for my life and all that you have given to me.

  19. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

When trumpet of the Lord sounds, we are going to want to be on the right side of God. The side He tells well done my good and faithful servant, and the only way to ensure we make it to that side is to seek after His face, and to live in His light. Shine down on us, oh Lord!!

  20. Psalms 80:18-19 (AMP)
    18) Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us and we will call on Your name.
    19) Restore us, O LORD God of Hosts; cause Your face to shine on us (in favor and approval), and we shall be saved.

Revive us – Restore us, as the kjv says Quicken us – Turn us.
Sounds like REVIVAL TIME to me!

  21. 18 Then we will never abandon you again.
Revive us so we can call on your name once more.

GO REVIVE! Not to do your own will or agenda, but to complete HIS will! Live your testimony to witness to others! That will never abandon a cause, that we will revive the sick, lost and hurting with the Power of Jesus Name.

  22. 8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
    14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;
15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

I missed it before, but I just love the earlier metaphor of Israel as Vine, I am the vine ye are the branches… John 15:5 is a favorite so it is always cool when I run into others vine comparisons in the Bible, like here in Psalm 80:8-15.

  23. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
When we are solely focused on God, we are not doubting him and looking towards the world for what we need. He has provided, does and will provide so much more than we could ever ask and he never leaves or forsakes his children. I need to always trust him for what he is doing even when I do not understand. Turn us again, OLord, keep us always looking to you for everything that we need.

  24. Josiah: 18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
“So we will not go back from thee…” When God is for me and His “word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” I do not need to second guess where I am going. Israel clearly knew where to go when they were following after God and being obedient. When they were not obedient they wandered for 40 years without a clear direction of where to go. Yet when they called and cried until the Lord they knew they would be saved once they were living and obeying God’s word. For His “word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. Yet we do not have to wander those 40 years in the wilderness for the harvest is ripe. We do not need to be lost we need to be saving the lost. We can have the blessings now and lay up eternal treasures in heaven! BLESSED BE THE NAME OF JESUS. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  25. I Love To Worship The Lord
The Psalmist appeals to God the Shepherd of Israel to save His people Israel is experiencing Gods anger for He has withdrawn His protection .Again Asaph asks God to restore His people that they may be saved

  26. Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

The psalmist says this twice in this chapter. It’s time for America to turn our face back towards God that He may shine His face upon us. It’s time for America to get back to prayer! Get back to making our relationship with God our top priority instead of a after thought.

  27. Only Jesus is able to save us from this wicked generation. It is through him alone that we can be made free. If we are to make it to heaven we must abide by God’s word.

  28. Jesus saves . He will save us from the darkness . I will walk through the shadow of death and fear no evil for Jesus is with me . The Lord is my shepherd . And I will be under his protection for he is my father and I am his child.✝

  29. 1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

The Lord Jesus is our good shepherd. He will not leave nor forsake us. It its time for us to seek him. Many times it us that turn away from Him. It is time for his people to turn to God and seek his face that He may shine down on us with his glory mercy and love.

  30. 5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Why are we so quick to point out when things aren’t going like we want? We are quicker to complain than to give God thanks. I could imagine that Joseph would have died in prison as a slave had he complained about his situation from the moment his brothers sold into slavery.

I remember the preaching from Pastor Cosner when he said, “We need to ask God instead, how can you get glory out of my situation?” Everything we go thru God has a lesson that we need to learn, every problem God is trying to instill something. If we can only stop looking at our problem and look to God, how can your name be exhausted Jesus?

  31. 19. O Eternal God, Commander of heaven’s armies, bring us back to You. Turn the light of Your face upon us so that we will be rescued from this sea of darkness.
Thisbis something we shpuld ask for whether we need to be rescued or not. With Gods face amomg us oh how amazing it is to tell someone about the Lord. now how awesome os ot to tell them about the Lprd with his spirit within us.
    God bless you all

  32. 14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;
15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

I need to be sure that I am always turning to God in all situations! When it seems as if all is wrong and also when all is right. God is always there, we as a church just need to reach out in prayer! God has planted the POFW here for a reason, so we cannot get discouraged, we just have to keep on pressing and stay close to God. He will lead and guide us in the way that He wants His church to go, as long as we still heed to His voice!

    Psalms 31: 21-24
” Blessed be the Lord : for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.  For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.  O love the Lord , all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.  Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. “

  33. 14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

When we let God work in our lives, the fruits of His spirit can be seen through us.
    Kindness, love, patience, passion…

  34. 16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

When we have the fire of the HG inside of us, it removes and cuts everything that is not pure. That’s why if were not careful we can easily give place to the devil and let him control us and remove the HG inside of us. We can’t let the enemy steal what God has already promised us, we can’t just give in to the devil and be like fine here take my soul….I still remember what bro merriman preached to us Sunday night he said “the sad part is that the enemy has more faith in what God wants us to be than us.” Its true because God will let certain things happen and if were not careful and stand firm on His word the devil is just going to laugh at us and be like “hahaha, told you this could bring her/him down” but NOOOO devil I am going to keep fighting till I die!!!! I want the devil to know me by name, MY GOD has the victory for that I AM VICTORIOUS!!! I will keep waring, praying, fasting, and letting this fire burn more and more!!! I want to keep growing and growing spiritually Jesus!!! I never want to have the mindset that I know it all because I never will!!!

  35. v18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

No turning back…. This living sacrifice calls for daily renewal of commitment to the merciful GOD who calls us into relationship with HIM.

  36. The vine and the branches refer to the nation of Israel (Isa 5:1-7) and eventually to Jesus Christ and the church (John 15:5). God himself has planted the vine of His people and now only God can tend to it in its distress. A plant cannot survive much less bear fruit it is exposed to the elements and abandoned by the gardener. The psalmist only hope for his people is that God will take pity on the vine he himself has established (vs14-15) for without his mercy the whole nation will perish. When we are in distress paying the price for our sins our only hope is in the character of God and his commitment to his plan of redemption (Da 9:16-19).

  37. 4 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

  38. Verse 19 AMP “Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine on us [in favor and approval], and we shall be saved.” It is time to restore what once was. So many have wandered off and gone astray from their relationship with the Lord. We (POFW) must pray this prayer and be ready.

  39. 18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

By the renewing of our minds through your word and presence, we stay focused on why is important to you and not only what’s important to us. Quicken us Lord!

  40. Psalm 80:19 ( English Amp) Restore us, O God of hosts; cause Your face to shine in pleasure, approval , and favor on us, and we shall be saved! Thank you lord for restoring my mind , My heart daily. Also thank you lord for restoring my live. I just want to make it to heaven.Jesus is for everyone.

  41. 9 You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land.

The Lord will clear a path for to come to him. You’ll come and listen. The question to ask, are you willing to root yourself with God’s word.

  42. 8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

Egypt being a type and shadow of the world, we have been sent, to witness of Him, and to reach for the lost. We have a mandate to reach for those who do not know Christ. While we are not called to be better Bible thumpers, we are called to tell the whole world.

  43. Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.(Psalms 80:6 KJV)

God makes an example of us when he judges so that not only we learn our lesson but other can witness it too. Strife may spring up between neighbors and enemies can see and laugh and cause gossip. The hope we can hold onto is God restores (Micah 7:8).

  44. “Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭80:7-8

This reminds me of when Moses was speaking with Hod on the mountain. After he would speak with he Lord he would have to cover his face to speak with the children of Isreal so as not to scare them.

…Is the face shining because of the forgiveness, the laws being fulfilled, God’s mercy…

  45. 17. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong fore thyself. 18. So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. 19. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Thank you for saving me !!!! Thank you for loving me !!!! Thank you for blessings !!!!
