Acts Chapter 27

40 Days of FIRE – Day 14

Although Paul was a prisoner at the time, he assured the crew that they would survive the pending shipwreck if they followed God’s guidance. Pray for God’s strength to be faithful during the storms of life. Pray for the church to Go in Faith always believing God is in control.

Acts 27

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

17 Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

30 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

34 Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

38 And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

39 And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

40 And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

42 And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

  1. In this scripture, it is certain that they should have listened to the Man of God, and followed his instructions. But, Paul had a destiny ordered by God, so it had to come to pass. Paul still needed to appear before Caesar, so it was going to come to pass because it was the will of God. So, Paul couldn’t die there and he was to complete his destiny ordered of the Lord.

Just like the things God has predestined for our lives, we too will see the completion of it. So, that dream you have will come to pass. If, it is the will of God. So, it might not be today but it’s coming!

You might have to go through several storms but what God promised you or has predestined for you to do. “Will Come to Pass”……………………..

    “The only question is WHEN?”………………………………………..

  2. Verses 23-25 CEV “I belong to God, and I worship him. Last night he sent an angel to tell me, “Paul, don’t be afraid! You will stand trial before the Emperor. And because of you, God will save the lives of everyone on the ship.” Cheer up! I am sure that God will do exactly what he promised.” We must not abandon ship, for we do not know how many lives God will save because of you (your obedience). We must not be afraid for Psalm 121:7 NIV says “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;”.

  3. 23. The God I belong to, the God I worship, sent a heavenly messenger to me this night.

    24. He said, “Do not be afraid, Paul. I’m not finished with you yet. You are going to stand before the emperor! You can be certain that God has granted safety to you and all your companions.”

    44. “….Some hours later, we reassemble on the beach, each one safe and sound.” Voice

The God I belong to, the God I worship is true to His Word!

  4. 33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing..

…This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing..

Ive never been apart of a 40 day fast but these past 14 days have been something else and to see what Gods doing amazes me more and mpre. I cannot help but to tell everyone I see. I tell em, “come see a man”. The day is just starting but I know its gonna be a good one.

    God bless you all!

  5. 15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

    Never let her drive.

  6. In life when it seems like all hope is lost. When your fairy is tempted. Remember your promises from God. God promises to me keenmw going strong and it reminds me to fight. And to keep going and to never lose my faith.

We might go trough hard times. But Gods promises are faithful.

  7. 25 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. -NIV
25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. -KJV

KEEP YOUR COURAGE UP. God will never put you in something he knows you can not handle, at the end of all the storms he will bless you, you will be safe in his arms. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

11 But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship. -NIV
11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

Listen to the man of God, he will never lie to you, he wont try to hurt you, he is sent from God.

  8. 20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

It’s easy to be discouraged when we fall among the temptations and trials of life and feel so weary like we have lost everything, what we need to realize is that as long as there is breathe in our lungs, we have purpose and reason to be here. All these tangible things in this world will pass eventually but we remain here until God calls us away. The Lord allowed Satan to take everything from job EXCEPT his life..bc he still had purpose. As long as we remain, are mission is clear and it still stands.

  9. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Myra
This was a prosperous city near the port of Andriac Julius left the smaller coastal vessel there and arranged for transport on one of the grain ships traveling to Rome

  10. 13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind,

Even when we may think everything is going well, we need to stay connected to God because trouble may be just ahead. Jesus is our ever present help in troubled times.

  11. 9 Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

Where it says because the fast was now already past, reminded me of Matthew 17 where it says in verse twenty If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. However what is usually left out is verse 21 where it says Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. So I believe Paul was in prayer and fasting which is why God was able to use him. And as we go through prayer and fasting I pray that God will also use me and grow me for his kingdom.

  12. For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me. ACTS 27: 23 NLT

There’s one thing that Paul knew for sure he knew who he belong to.

  13. 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

If we believe in God and trust Him, how could we not be of good cheer. Remember what Bro. Mallory preached Sunday morning: trust, delight, and commit! As long as we live righteously and according to His will, we will never be forsaken!

  14. iLove to Go Blog
Acts 27:18-20 NLT The next day, as gale-force winds continued to batter the ship, the crew began throwing the cargo overboard. (19) The following day they even took some of the ship’s gear and threw it overboard. (20) The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone.

When faced with death, nothing else was important. Notice the crew began to throw the very expensive cargo overboard…Notice the crew then threw over the very expensive and very important gear…Nothing else but survival was important to these men…until finally even the hope of survival was thrown overboard. When it comes to life and death nothing is more important than survival. Houses, cars, possessions, riches, and even food and clothing don’t even come close…people will throw it all overboard just to live another day.

The thing about it is… most of the time we bring loss upon ourselves. Acts 27:21 NLT No one had eaten for a long time. Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you should have listened to me in the first place and not left Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater…Listen to the man of God and avoid the loss and damage that is coming your way! Quit being stubborn, pull weeds and pray, blog and fast and be nice to folks…and the Lord will send His angel to make a way where it seems all hope is lost.

  15. 44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

Your in the worst position of your life, and you have no absolute idea what to do… praise the lord and give thanks! Besides that no matter what your in Jesus has a hand over your or around you, angels surround you with excellence. The whole point is no matter what it is your in even the prisoners made it to safe land.

  16. 22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

  17. GO WITH GODS WAY OF ESCAPE

The WORD of GOD promises us that in every temptation, HE will make a way of escape.

1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Understanding this verse is speaking to us in regards to temptation to sin, there is a principal established here that I believe we can apply to trials. Often I have witnessed GOD make a way of escape from a trial in the FIRE. The escape route is not always decked with pomp and circumstance, is not always attractive, is not always convenient or even fair. However it is a way to GO WITH GOD.

When the storms of LIFE are raging and it appears we will lose it all, remember we serve the ONE and ONLY KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. HE has a plan, JESUS have never been caught off guard or by surprise. Maybe you can swim, or maybe you can just float on whatever is available. The Book of Acts is teaching us about not only REVIVAL and HARVEST, but also SURVIVAL and FAITH.

GO in FAITH today knowing that whatever test, trial or temptation today may hold in your life, know that JESUS is the way of escape. GO WITH GODS WAY OF ESCAPE – JESUS

  18. Refreshment in the Midst of Friends

3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

Paul was a prisoner yet God was always right there with him. Even as a prisoner he found favor. He was given the opportunity to stop and refresh himself with friends. I am sure that these friends were praying friends they had to know the battle that Paul was in. Paul was strong but needed his friends. I am so thankful that we can have the assurance of friends. The storms of life will blow and will try to overtake you yet in the midst of these storms there is someone praying for you. Paul had to get back on the ship. Refreshed and ready to face the next storm. Someone mentioned the scripture to me the other day iron sharpens iron. This is why we choose to be a part of a church body. This is why we choose to be involved. We are among friends who do care who do encourage who do believe that God’s Word is true. We choose our friends wisely we make choices that we know will be beneficial to the kingdom of God. We involve ourself in the work of God. We are the Friends that this world needs. Paul did not allow his imprisonment to detour him from the work of God. He continued and spoke words of encouragement. So don’t under estimate the power of your Friendship Jesus said he that hath friends must show himself friendly your storm may be just the testimony ;that will lead someone right into the arms of Jesus. Refreshment in the Midst of Friends.

    His strength Is Perfect

  19. 21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

All of this could have been avoided if they just would have listened to the man of God! Even after they did not listen to him, through his prayer the man of God still bailed them out of the storm, just as pastor has done for many of us. Let’s keep ourselves out of trouble and keep the man of God in our life from having to say I told you so, by listening to him the first time! Lord grant me a heart that is submissive, willing, and obedient!

  20. 9 Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

Many times people head right into the storms of life because they don’t listen to the man of God in their lives. They decide to take matters into their own hands and head straight for the storm unaware of the danger ahead. There is safety in the church, listening to the word of God, listening to prophecy and learning to obey. Obedience and submission will keep us in the safety of the ‘ship’ and then when the storm hits, we have guidance and intervention already in place to guide us through.

  21. “No one had eaten for a long time. Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you should have listened to me in the first place and not left Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss. But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:21-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  22. 20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

In this passage it seemed like all hope was lost but God with His miracle working power showed Paul that he would be saved as long as they stayed with the ship. The ship itself would be lost but if they stayed on the ship God would save them. In our lives when we go through the trials of life God sometimes we feel like giving up and throwing in the towel but if we stay in the ship and stay close to the church God will save us and help us!

  23. Kee the faith, stay in the bleat ! No matter what, even if it looks dark(. The situation) see with the ayes of faith, see sunshine and let us thank for it….
( my prayer) Lord I ask you that in the middle of any bad situation I face, i want and desire to be a blessing , to be used by YOU, it’s not about me, it’s about your kingdom, its about the souls, while I am busy working for your kingdom, i know that you will take care of my busines( fam. Loveones, situations…..)
——- who would do what this man did? ( put others first, sabe others…)
27:43 but the centurion willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the see and get to land….
That scraped all SAFE to land

  24. Life is a process. We see Paul’s ship stopping from place to place. Our lives has much the same course, hills and valleys. One victory keeps us through the valley to the next mountain top. In every place, Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever, He does not change. His keeping power is the same on the mountain top or in the valley low. We must never let our “place” determine our victory. Our relationship is with God, and God alone.

  25. To me this chapter is about listening to Pastor, the man of God in our life. We would be “wise” to listen to him and his counselling. But as human nature is, we don’t always want to listen, and we find ourselves in a storm. But “thank God” we have a Pastor who cares and will exhort us to “be of good cheer, stay in the boat (church), and eat (read) the word of God, which is food for our soul. Yes, we’re going to get hurt for our disobedience, we’re going to have to suffer the consequences, “for the LORD corrects those whom he loves,” but in the end we will be saved.

  26. and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.
Acts of the Apostles 27:24‭-‬25 NLT
We need to trust in the man of God and our leaders God put them in our lives so the could help us
You see in this chapter that the people on the boat didn’t listen to Paul they want to go there own the could of died but God had Mercy on them if God has a plan for you he is going anything he can to make that happen but you have to be willing you have to trust in him there might be a sinking ship or Rock road but if trust in the lord it will happen

  27. 11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

Whose voice do you allow to influence or steer your life. There are many voices like winds that some are small and some great and under every word come out a wind that tries to pull on certain direction. This is why we must stay connected to the WORD through the Word of God. He will never violate His wind of direction or go against His word. Everything is to be done in order. God placed a voice for you the man of God that he may sail with you in God’s direction. I feel that I some point we all must go through this test of winds but the word reminds you what happens when we dont listen to the voice God placed in your life. “Sirs you should have listened to me…” wreck and chaos and loss are an outcome but thanks be to God he gives second chances as the men here were given the chance to listen again and spare their lives.

  28. Paul prayed and fast . He had faith in God knowing he was going to come out victorious . He trusted in God and because of that the people that follow Paul were safe. You see when you have Jesus in your life you are protected . There might be storms in your life but the fight ain’t fair because you already won . God saw your trail and tribulation and brought you out of it way before you even faced it. People will see that and be like “where’s all those blessings coming from” or how he got “out of that ” because God saw your trail and tribulation and solved it before you ever knew about it.

  29. But even now I urge you to keep up your courage and be in good spirits, because there will be no loss of life among you, but only loss of the ship. For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me, and said, ‘Stop being afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has given you [the lives of] all those who are sailing with you.’ (‭ACTS‬ ‭27‬:‭22-24‬ AMP)

  30. Your journey is not over yet.

Paul’s journey was not over in the storm. It was not over when he became a prisoner. It was not over when he became shipwrecked. Listening to bro. Mallory this weekend, I found God telling me that I was not done. That he was not done with.
Too many times as a Christians we tend to say that things are better when we come to God. Yes that’s true, yet it’s because we have hope in God that makes it easier to bear the load of life. In my testimony, yet still being written, I have faced moving to unfamiliar territory, the lost of a father/friend, the loss of close friends spiritually and physically. Changes in ministry, and direction in life. Yet it was easier because I had faith in God. Yes it gets hard and yes there are times that you want to just throw in the towel. But God is not done with you yet. He has a reason and purpose for you in where your at. He has it under control. He is all that we need.
So your journey is not over yet! #GOdosomething

  31. 24-25 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.

God has a purpose for you! God won’t let you drown in your troubles and hurt, He will lift you up and place you on solid ground! We need to have faith and believe that God will do anything he says to us. Like Paul we need to be the believers in this world. At first the sailors didn’t listen to Paul, that had a word from God, but they listened to the wrong voice that caused them to be lead into a storm of trouble. Listen to the voice of God because he is leading us right into his arms!

  32. And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

  33. 42. And the soldiers counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape. 43. But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land: 44. And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land. Thank you Jesus for safety !!!!

  34. 10“Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” 11But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul.

Its wise to listen to others every now and then. This officer listened to the Captain, probably because he was in a position of authority. Just because someone is in position of authority doesnt have all the right answers. Have a friend, a relative, or a brother/sister in Christ to speak to in times of turmoil. Its better to recieve Godly advice over someone who doesnt have your best interest in mind.

  35. Josiah. 21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, SIRS, YE SHOULD HAVE HEARKENED UNTO ME, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
“YE SHOULD HAVE HEARKENED UNTO ME” This is what I never hope to hear from the man of God. God places spiritual leaders in our lives and it is up to us to listen to them. Pastor preached about spiritual authority and the importance of it. My prayer is that I listen to my parents and pastor and other spiritual leaders in my life. God’s word says you reap what you sow and this verse tells what people gain who do not listen to the man of God like in this story. It says they “gained this harm and loss”. Besides it is so much easier to listen and then you do not have to worry if something goes wrong:) Plus we can then be obedient to God’s word. So let us GO under spiritual authority. Let us GO in Jesus name. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  36. Going in faith requires more than just lip service to the direction of God in our life. Paul clearly gave direction before their sojourn began but no one wanted to listen even though they knew it was good advice. They choose instead to look for a favorable sign for what they wanted to do. It sounds like foolishness from the advantage of hindsight but how often do people do the very same thing today. They hear a word from the Lord and know it’s the direction they should go but their desire leads them another way. Someone next to them could readily point out the discrepancies in their choices but they’re no longer listening. They’ve already made up their mind and are only paying attention to those signs that affirm what they already want. That’s not walking in faith, it’s justification of a carnal desire and direction to ease the conscience.

Interestingly enough, if a preacher today would follow the example of Paul and dare to remind someone that they wouldn’t be in the situation they were in if they had only listened, few would expect it to be well received. Paul had no such compulsion… ‘I told you so’ may not be popular to be spoken but it often needs to be said. How can we expect to ignore the direction of God, get ourselves in a troublesome situation, and then respond as if there wasn’t any way to avoid the outcome. There is a way! We need to go in faith and faithfully follow the direction of God. This Psalm shows he’ll even respond after we neglect to do so but how much greater the outcome if we go in faith to begin with!

  37. Hannah: “11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.” Never believe a word from a wicked man over the word of a man of God. Sometimes it may be difficult to separate which word is from God or not from God, because the devil can make his word sound extremely similar to the word of God. I always want to be sensitive from the Lord and be able to tell right away when something isn’t from him. Always trust in the Lord and his word will bring you to far places, but the other way will only bring destruction. I always want to listen to a man of God and not a rumor from a person in the world. God will bring you beyond what you can ever imagine and when you serve him faithfully he will take you with him into heaven. This is my desire to be with the Lord forever and to never leave my walk with him.

  38. 10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul. 22 now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God…

How merciful is our God to us. Paul had warned them that the trip should not have been made and they did not listen. Yet, an angel of the Lord spoke to Paul and all of the inhabitants were saved. How many times have we should suffered much more for our bad decisions because we did not heed the word of the Lord from the man of God. Yet our God is merciful to us and we did not suffer all that we should have.
How much hardship can we keep ourselves from if we take the time to both listen and obey the man of God in our lives.

  39. 22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

This chapter is yet another testimony to how God looks after His children. If it hadn’t have been for Paul on the ship, they may never have survived; yet for the sake of God’s plan for one of His children, 276 people were saved! Although, the trials in life may not make sense or things may not go as we planned, we always have to remember that God can always bring us through! We need to be of good cheer and keep praising God for what He has done, is doing, and will do in our lives.
Psalms 31: 23-24: “O love the Lord , all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.  Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”

  40. 30 And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

This could go right along with Bro Starks message. Leadership ( sailors) stay on the boat and listen to the captain (Pastor). There’s not always gonnal be a Soldier to Cut the Ropes

  41. Rudder Bands

40 And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

Ancient ships had two great broad-bladed oars for rudders. These, when not in use, were lifted out of the water and bound or tied up. When required for use, these bands were unloosed and the rudders allowed to drop into the water

The steering wheel doesn’t work without the rudder bands

  42. 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

God know the end from the beginning one of the things that bro Mallory have said has really stuck with me is ” why are we worrying about certain situations that we don’t even have control over. If its going to happen it going to happen can’t nobody stop it, so mind your business and stop trying to help God out. He is in control”. So regardless how the situation turn out the scripture be of GOOD cheer. God knows!

  43. ACTS 27:20 AMP Since neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm kept raging about us, from then on all hope of our being saved was [growing worse and worse and] gradually abandoned.

Our joy cometh in the morning, praise Him in the storm.

  44. 31 Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.” NKJV

    Stay in the Boat!

In these modern times, there is a mindset that is plaguing our society, the “I don’t have to go to church, to have a relationship with God”

There are many ways that the bible teaches us principles about what God wants for us. In this passage, the Man of God (pastor) is warning the people on the boat (church), if you don’t stay in the boat (church), you cannot be saved!

What is it about not going to church that ends most peoples relationship with God. I remember the words of Pastor Shatwell when he said, “Acts 2:38 and Hebrews 10:25 carry the same weight in the bible”

Lets pose the question? Who in Noah’s day got saved? Only the ones that were in the boat, the ones that believed Noah (pastor) about being inside the boat.

  45. Stay in the ship sounds like a simple request. Until you consider that they were in fear of getting dashed against the rocks I can understand their hesitation. These mean have been in constant suspense and haven’t even eaten. This is true spiritually as well when we get full on fear we aren’t hungry for the Spirit. After eating they could think more rationally. Getting hasty can lead to bad decisions. Listening to the man of God can help steer us the right course God wants us on. Every situation God allows us has a purpose. When fear is subtracted from the situation God’s love can enter the equation.

  46. Acts 27:21-29
No storms or tempests can hinder God’s favour to his people, for he is a help always at hand. It is a comfort to the faithful servants of God when in difficulties, that as long as the Lord has any work for them to do, their lives shall be prolonged.

Acts 27: 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

    Romans 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

  47. 20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

Even when the darkness doesn’t seem to give room to the light, God is still with you and guiding your step.

  48. v 34 We can fully depend on our great GOD for our strength
protection, that’s the safest place to be.

  49. 11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

Some will believe you and others will not when it comes to the things of the kingdom. Try, it’s our responsibility to go make disciples not complainers or disobedient children. Paul new the price of a bad decision way to well.

  50. ““Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The voice of the Shepherd is very important. He is one who hears from God and watches over your soul. He keeping the best interest for you in mind. This verse has stressed to me that we must submit to the voice of the Shepherd. The sheep should know there Shepherds voice.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭10:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  51. Acts 26:23 (English Amp) For this very night there stood by my side an angel of the God to Whom I belong and Whom I belong and Whom I serve and worship. Sound like Paul was frighted so God sent him a angel. That shows that put your trust in the Lord.

  52. I honestly would have been terrified if I were on that ship. Only God can give you such a peace as what God gave Paul. When God gives you a word it doesn’t matter what any of the circumstances look like, God’s word does not return void!

  53. 44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

This happens when we don’t listen. We get tested in hopes that we will learn from the lesson at hand.

  54. 3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

A definition of refresh according to Webster is to run water over or restore water to. I believe we all understand water is essential to life. Our bodies are mostly water. When one is thirsty food will not quench our thirst. We must have liquid; whether that be pure fresh water or a mineral infused drink – there is no substitute for refreshment from thirst.

Refreshment means restoring strength, energy and vigour. A light snack is sometimes referred to as a refreshment. Physical refreshment can also come, for example, from sleep, rest, or exercise. Paul tells Philemon that he has refreshed the hearts of the saints in chapter 7. In verse 20 Paul asks him to refresh my heart in Christ.

We should learn that the word of God is a refresher of our mind, heart snd soul. In Psalm 119 “My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times … My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. God’s words refresh our minds, hearts and souls.

  55. May 9
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

Just because we have the messenger of GOD, the presence of GOD or the anointing of GOD does not mean that we can do whatever we will to do!!!
