Acts Chapter 10

40 Days of FIRE – Day 31

The Fire continues as God connects Peter with a Roman soldier named Cornelius. Although the Christian faith began among Jews, it is beginning to make its way to Gentiles (non-Jews) as well. Prayerfully thank God for His love and acceptance of all people from all backgrounds and all nations. Also, pray that we be filled with the Love of God and Go Love others as Christ has loved us.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Acts 10

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. PRAYER AT HOME

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

“I PRAYED in my HOUSE”. Occaisionally I wonder how much JESUS longs for us to PRAY in my house. We have read repeatedly the power of when the Church prays together, we also understand the UNITY established through corporate Prayer of the church.

Here in chapter 10 we learn of the value of personal PRAYER AT HOME. There is POWER when we PRAY at Church, there is revelation we have PRAYER AT HOME.

PRAYER AT HOME will always affect PRAYER AT CHRUCH. When we PRAY at home like Cornelius we all receive direction and instruction. When we PRAY at Church like 6am Friday, 8pm Saturday and 7pm Tuesday we have the POWER of GOD to set prisoners free, speak the WORD of GOD with Boldness and influence cities for JESUS.

Lets GO Pray at HOME and see what JESUS has for us.

  2. Wow…..to be known by all as Cornelius was ……. a thoroughly good man, always helping people in need, and had the habit of prayer. You really can’t go wrong with a good attitude, an extended helping hand, and always seeking God’s direction in prayer. Cornelius did it in such a way, that it brought him to God’s attention, how awesome is that? This gospel is for everyone, regardless of race, wealth status, or background as verses 34-36 MSG says “Peter fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open. The Message he sent to the children of Israel—that through Jesus Christ everything is being put together again—well, he’s doing it everywhere, among everyone.” Let’s GO!

  3. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

Cornelius felt impressed of the spirit to call for Peter. Peter was sensitive to the Spirit and obedient to go, and the fruit was Cornelius and his entire house were saved.

What Spirit are we listening to? Will we be obedient and follow the Spirit that we would be responsible for entire households being saved? That is my prayer today.

  4. Even as peter was saying these things, the Holy spirit fell upon all who were listening to the massage. Acts 10:44 NLT.

Cornelius and his family were hungry for the Holy Ghost.

  5. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Hallelujah, Thank You Jesus! Not only is God no respecter of persons, but He will gladly accept those from every nation. I recently saw a dumb little video going around of racism continuing in our world today and I pray that we all would see through the eyes of Christ and love one another as He does.

  6. iLove to Go Blog
Acts 10:2 KJV  A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

How do we measure up against an unsaved Gentile?

He was devout which means the following:
Totally committed to a cause or belief.
synonyms: dedicated, devoted, committed, loyal, faithful, staunch, genuine, firm, steadfast, unwavering, sincere, wholehearted, keen, enthusiastic, zealous, passionate, ardent, fervent, active, sworn, pledged

    He Feared God
Proverbs 8:13 KJV  The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

    He gave much alms
From G1656; compassionateness, that is, (as exercised towards the poor) beneficence, or (concretely) a benefaction: – alms (-deeds).

    He prayed to God always:
Most of us can barely pray sometimes…

WOW, how do we stack up to this man who was a soldier in a pagan army?

  7. Acts 10:28 & 34
    28) And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
    34) Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.

I should not call any man common or unclean.
God is no respecter of persons.
Today, GO look at everyone as a potential soul for the kingdom of God.

  8. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

This clearly shows the importance of speaking in tongues as evidence of the holy ghost. Anyone who says they have “the spirit” without speaking in tongues is lying. Those that were around know they received the spirit specifically because they spoke in tongues. Also it shows the necessity of baptism. If holy ghost filling was enough alone there would be no need to get baptized but Peter posed the question to those gathered because he believed it was essential to salvation. If Peter believed it we should to.

  9. I LOVE TO WORSHIP THE LORD
Acts 10:44-46 explain the appearance of tongues in this situation. The fact that Gentiles were given this gift, just as the apostles had been on Pentecost, was proof of God’s acceptance of Gentiles into the church. Peter’s phrase, “at the beginning,” suggests that this event was not only unusual because it involved Gentiles, but also because speaking in tongues was not a common phenomenon in the early church.

  10. 28 He said to them; “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man in pure or unclean.”

34 Then Peter begin to speak; ” I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.
35 but except man from every nation who fear him and do what is right.”

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
45 The circumcise believers who had come with Peter were astonished at the gift of the Holy Spirit have been poured out even on the Gentiles.

  11. What greater love hath man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. If we doubt there importance of love, let us consider the great price of Calvary. God gave all that those he created through his love might have the opportunity to choose to remain with him. It is a choice that leads us into an ever greater understanding of the power of God’s love. Once we recognize his love and return it ourselves, we can surely demonstrate his love unto all!

His love is important! It can and should make a difference everywhere we go because, ‘Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.’ If the threshold for God is everyone of every nation, how can the church afford to show anything less. We need his love to propel us through every open door, speaking the truth with love.

Notice that Peter and the other apostles were never afraid to speak the truth! Our love is not demonstrated in silence… our silence leaves then unchanged and heading for certain destruction. If we go in love, we go in truth! Speaking the truth in love… the whole gospel to the whole world! That is God’s perfect desire for his people. Oh that people would know his love and see it as his gospel of proclaimed with my lips!

  12. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

How great is the God we serve, in His eyes nothing else matters when you’re seeking after Him! It does not matter who you are or who you used to be, it does not matter your race nor your gender or even your age, the Holy Ghost is for you!! And living in a world that seems to be bothered by many of these it is nice to know that there is One who is not bothered by any of these but just wants to share His love with all. Let’s GO and share this good news today!

  13. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

This good man, obviously a believer/Christian, still wasn’t ‘saved’. God had more for him, even being born of the water and Spirit. This chapter’s message is for our good Chrisitan friends and family that are stuck in the denominal world. They need to see and know that God has more for them because of they believe in him. GO Teach.

  14. OH YEA THOU DEVOUT MAN
THERE IS MORE TO THIS WALK WITH GOD

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

We must be cautious in how we approach individuals. We in no means want to be offensive. Wise as a serpent harmless as a dove. Cornelius was already a devout man, he probably clarified himself a Christian he probably was more Christ like than some us profess to be.
There are good people wanting more. God heard this mans prayer and honored his fasting, imagine that he hadn’t even been baptized nor filled with the Holy Ghost. YET GOD SAID OK I HAVE MORE FOR YOU!

God wants to lead us to many who have been steeped in traditions of religion. We have the answer and we can lead them but we must be mindful they may already have a walk with God. An Arch Bishop from London was teaching a seminar my husband and I had the privilege be attending non UPC but a mixture of many denominations. This man was from a traditional religion that was far from the Pentecostal experience yet my husband was determined the man had the Holy Ghost. When my husband asked him one morning after the arch bishop had spoken if he had received the Holy Ghost, The bishop said oh yes my wife and I speak in tongues every morning. Of course this led conversation to baptism in Jesus Name. Oh that we win the lost with wisdom and not push them away. Another woman pastor of a large Lutheran church also grasped baptism in Jesus name. God will lead us to those who are seeking.
One more example sorry…but our assistant pastor in Fort Wayne was a Baptist Pastor and he had a dream that he was going to meet a large man that would tell him what he needed to do. Well he met that man my husband and was quit pastoring his Baptist church and was baptized he already had received the Holy Ghost he became the assistant pastor to my husband and today is now preaching to the French. God has much in store for Fort Worth. There is a fire inside of our Pastor and First Lady. I am proud to be a part of this body of Christ.

  15. He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.
Acts of the Apostles 10:2 NLT
I continue to pray that my family will love and fear God and soon come to church again

  16. Acts 10:13-16 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

This is what God is calling us to do, to go beyond our own bias to a people that do not fit our mold. Many of us have been in Pentecost for such a long time that when we see unbelievers or “Gentiles” we act like the Jews did in Bible times. The Jews were repulsed by the Gentile people, they saw them as trash dirt.

If we cannot evangelize and be amongst those people without reacting this way, then there is something wrong with what we have on the inside. I can tell you this, it’s not the Holy Ghost.

We are the salt of the earth, we are the light in the darkness we should affect them not them us. Serve real frayed that will be contaminated by then, there is something wrong with what we got.

  17. 3He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

Be ready to be used by God. We must be willing and ready to speak his word.
    #GOdosomething

  18. 34 Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.

Favoritism–showing special favor, state or fact of being a favorite

I’m sure we all have seen this before at work, school or church. Someone in authority shows favoritism over others. You’ll recognize it in a heart beat if someone is a favorite. As Christians, we must favor all, and don’t show favoritism. For God loves and cares for all no matter who you are. We too should treat everyone the same.

  19. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

These scriptures show the actions of including most of us into the promise of salvation that God gave to us. I and thankful that Jesus Christ not only died for the sins of the Jews, but instead he died for all mankind. So, that now we all can be filled with the Holy Ghost and receive his name upon us.

  20. Josiah: 33 IMMEDIATELY therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
“Immediately therefore I sent to thee” When Cornelius was informed of what he needed to do he immediately did it. He did not wait until he had a convenient time. It says he “Immediately” did what he was supposed to do. Furthermore Cornelius did not even question God, or the angel that was sent by God for that matter. He obeyed God. The Bible also shows examples of immediate service elsewhere in the Bible too. One is in Mark 1:18 where it says “And STRAIGHTAWAY they forsook their nets, and followed him joyfully” This is the kind of obedience I hope we have. Obedience to God that is immediate and unquestioning. LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD. THANK YOU JESUS! HALLELUJAH!

  21. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

God loves unconditionally and expects us to do the same.

  22. Cornelius storys shows gods willingness to use extraordinary means to reach those who desire God. Its simple those who seek the lord will find him

  23. 2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. 3. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cor-ne’-li-us. 4. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5. And now send men to Jop’-pa, and call for one Si’-mon, whose surname is Pe’-ter: 6. He lodgeth with one Si’-mon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. He was a prayer warrior !!!!

  24. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

People are more hungry for God than they appear to be on the outside. I have spoken to many people who are just waiting for the chance to be persuaded to be baptized in Jesus name. All we have to do is teach the word in the correct loving Manner and then simply ask them and teach them the proper way to be baptized. I believe that there are many more that can be baptized this year then we already have baptized. People are hungry for God and they want a change some of them just don’t realize it until they see what they don’t have and God has ordained us to preach that to them.

  25. Acts10:3 ( English Amp) About the ninth hour ( About 3:00pm) of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God entering and saying to him, Cornelius prayers were so generous gifts to the poor have come up as a sacrifice to God and have been remembered by him. Cornelius was a prayer warrior. God bottles up your prayer’s and your tears. What a great vision.,

  26. This reminds me of the song “Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.” In some ways the words “like me” express the heart of Peter, early Christians and the church today. Too often we are attracted only to those who are much like us, not minding wretches, as long as they are our kind of wretches. The followers of Christ were converted Jews in the early days of the New Testament church. Many believed that God’s grace was only for them … or wretches just like them. It was time for their vision to get bigger and their hearts to expand. Through Peters encounter with Cornelius and his family, it becomes clear that no one is beyond God’s grace, regardless of position or race. God does not discriminate for he made us all different in his likeness… fearfully and wonderfully made. Jesus loves all people, the Holy Spirit can fill them, to be brought into relationship with Him.

  27. 2 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

This command is also for us today. We are to preach unto the people of this region. We are the hands and feet of God and we are to carry this great gospel to the lost world around us. Let us be ready to give an answer to those that will seek for wisdom and guidance into His presence.

  28. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  29. Hannah: “36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)” I am so thankful to have the opportunity every day to praise and worship my king. He is my Lord and I pray that I will always place him first in my life. I am thankful to have the word of the Lord in my life and I want to reach out to others so that they will have the same opportunity. God loves every single one of us that he gave his life for every one to be saved if they come to him. We need to reach out to the lost and so that they can have God in their lives. My desire is that I always keep reaching out so that by the end I will bring as many people with me to that eternal place with the Lord.

  30. Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. J soliz

  31. v39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree.

It was a personal experience personal relationship the Holy Ghost . Be empowered today .

  32. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Then answered Peter,
These following words should say it all for Pentecostals or anyone who has ears to hear or eyes to see…… and even to the handicapped! The strength and truth of his Word!

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

    “Believe”……………

  33. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

The gospel is truly for every person! We should not judge people based on how they look, where they live, or how they talk; we should share the gospel with them! Peter was shown this very explicitly in this chapter, that there is no person we should not share the gospel with. God can take any life and turn it around and make it for the good, it’s our part to be workers in the harvest and GO share the gospel with every person!
Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Psalms 33:8, “Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.”

  34. Acts 10:2-4 Though Cornelius’s good works and prayers served as a memorial (true sacrifice), they did not save him. He was saved after he heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.

v.44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

  35. 31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God..

The prayer is heard so continue doing what you’re doing Gods got this.

  36. “Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.”
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10:44-48‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I am so thankful that salvation was extended to the Gentiles. He become the Ultimate sacrifice for our sins. He was the spotless Lamb and crucified in our place. We will truly never know the cost He paid for us.

  37. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

Prayer is the key to understand what to do and what God wills. It is in your personal prayer timr that we get direction for our lives.

  38. Your reputation

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

Your reputation proceeds you wether good or bad. When his men spake of Cornelius they had all great things to say about him. Imagine if they would have introduced him as something completely different. Peter may have thought twice about going to see him, or he may not have gone at all. A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches. Your reputation may just bring your miracle.

  39. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

When you are sent to do Gods work, you have nothing to fear or doubt. Trust and believe that the Lord is enough. Be odebient and just do as He commands.

  40. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ to the gentiles!

  41. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God

I saw a patter to this…Fear unto God leads to Prayer which leads to obedience and giving which leads to the Lord giving you visions. God truly knows when we love Him with all our heart or not. We might be able to fool man but we can’t fool God!!! Jesus you are my everything!!!
Alms- money or food given to poor people

  42. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

Cornelius was not a Jew but still prayed to God because he had the revelation of who the One True Living God was. He also invested into his community by supporting the people in the means of giving donations. He gave charity. He was a Roman soldier who prayed to God and gave to the community. What a remarkable man. And because of his heart God blessed him, his house, and generations to come because of how he chose to live his life and take care of others. I pray we GO in love and charity to reach this community. In Jesus name.

  43. 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
God is never late, he is always on time! He hears the prayers of those seeking after him and uses his church to reach these souls. We can never be afraid to share this truth to all that will hear. We never know how long the person we are witnessing to has been crying out to God to have someone show them the truth. We must be obedient to the voice of God and willingly and cheerfully GO where he directs us!

  44. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

  45. 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

Through the course of life, we all have opportunities to take the credit for things we shouldn’t. In the spotlight and moment of some success, it’s tempting to keep the focus on ourselves. In reality, we would have no success in our lives at all if God did not see fit to bless us and give us the opportunities to succeed. It’s not that we can’t enjoy our moment in the sun. Pleasure in good things is a gift that God has given us. It’s just that it’s important to give the credit for all we have and are to God.

Do we keep the glory for ourselves, or do we turn the spotlight back to God where it belongs?

  46. “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭3:36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Believing is more just saying I believe. It it was as simple as word there wouldn’t be so many scriptures about it. When we truly have faith and believe in Jesus we receive remission of sins and eternal life.
