Acts Chapter 1

40 Days of FIRE – Day 40

The early church began at the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The disciples were disillusioned and feared for their lives after Jesus’ death, but soon became fearless and risk everything to tell the world about their Risen Savior. As you pray today, offer God thanks for sending His only Son to pay the debt of our sin with His death. Pray that the church would Go Fearlessly in the power of the Holy Ghost.

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Acts 1

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

  1. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

The most vital part of this promise was for them to wait, they were commanded not to leave but to wait it doesn’t say anything else that they were supposed to do to just stay in Jerusalem and wait. Receiving our promises from God is that simple, it is just simple obedience. We’re not always called to do enormous things in our faith attempts, but just wait. When we have done all we can…we let God do the rest. The ark did not save Noah, marching around the Jericho walls did not cause the victory, the Red Sea did not saved Israel from Egypt, neither did sitting in a room give the 120 people the Holy Ghost… What saved all these people was just simple obedience. It doesn’t matter what we think we should be doing, what matters is that we are doing is what God told us to do.

  2. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NLT)

We are His witnesses! Filled and baptized in Jesus Name, we have the power to GO! JESUS today YOU will SAVE me and many more!

  3. “…He presented Himself alive to them in many different settings over a period of forty days…” MSG

He has presented Himself alive to us in many different settings over these 40 Days of Fire, and it will continue and multiply; the best is yet to come!

  4. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

  5. GO AND KNOW

People often get caught up and confused about the what is “going on”. Based on the words of JESUS, this has a been a traditional concern of the ages. However JESUS redirected the concerns of the people by directing them to the promise of GOD and where HE would meet them to fill the vessels of HIS church.

JESUS has placed HIMSELF in HIS Church through the gift of the Holy Ghost. The POWER filled church is a Holy Ghost FILLED church. May the revelation of impartation be on us today to receive HIS POWER to be HIS WITNESS in all of Fort Worth.

  6. 3 During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

During the past 40 Days; there has been many sacrifices, much fasting, and much prayer. Yet, through it all, there was also much time with Jesus. He proved His love through the blessed sermons and He shared His Will for the Church through prophecy. As we enter the 40th Day, and go into the last day of Pentecost Revival, GO expecting, GO excited, and GO talk about the Kingdom of God!

  7. 7-8 He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.”

It’s all in God’s hands! We don’t need to know the time of when He comes but we need to know that we are to go out in this world and be witnesses of Jesus Christ! Thank you Lord for filling me with the Holy Ghost that I may be a witness in my school and in this world!

  8. iLove to Go Blog
Acts 1:3 KJV  To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Wow, they saw Jesus 40 days without having received the Holy Ghost…40 days…I haven’t eaten chicken in 40 days but that’s no comparison to waiting 40 for the Holy Ghost. I can’t even imagine walking one day without the Holy Ghost… But just like the disciples, I believe we are going to experience the fire of the Holy Ghost today that will be well worth the wait.

  9. Of the many attributes of the spirit, fear is never mentioned even once as a quality or attribute of a Christian life. I’ve even heard is said that fear is really faith in the enemy rather than faith in God. The apostles ran in fear when Jesus was taken because they thought all was lost. When Jesus returned and they truly recognized who he was they responded with a boldness that astounded even those who had known them before.

The great turning point was the power they received with the holy ghost! Death was no longer something to fear. Paul would even say that ‘For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.’ The mindset of the followers of Jesus went from running in fear of death to recognizing that a death in Christ was to their gain. It was not something to be afraid of, just another certainty of life that God has in control. Until that time however, they were going to live their life for him!

The prophet Isaiah had even more poignant words to say: ‘when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.’ He mentions that his life was cut off from the land of the living without any physical seed to carry on his name. We do not just proclaim his name, our very lives prolong his days upon the earth! He may not be here in the flesh, but he still has living examples of his testimony in us if we walk without fear… just as Jesus did! When that is truly our walk, note that the prophet said the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. What is truly pleasing to God and what he chooses to favor with prosperity is when our lives give a living testimony of his life!

  10. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The BEST THING I EVER DID IN MY LIFE IS RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST AND BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS! Thank you JESUS!

  11. Josiah: 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
“unto the uttermost part of the earth” God told the apostles that they should not only be witnesses of God “in Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and in Samaria” but also “unto the uttermost part of the earth” Later on in chapter 10 it says “35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” God did not just die for just you or just me but for every person. This is why we should never judge people on outreach, and be scared to give them a flyer, but we should GO fearlessly in the power of the Holy Ghost because God died for them too. We should spread God’s word to everyone we can because who knows when one will come. God told the apostles that they would receive power and the Holy Ghost would come upon them. SO, LET US GO FEARLESSLY SPREAD GOD’S WORD IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST! LET US BE A CITY SET ON A HILL! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  12. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts of the Apostles 1:8 NLT
We will be God witness the holy ghost give us

  13. :
    Waiting for the Promise
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

What a glorious event. Waiting for a promise from God.
That day superceded all expectations. A joy that mended the broken heart of Mary. The doubt Thomas ever had now was replaced with a faith unimaginable.
And Peters denial now consumed with a power that would sustain him through many more trials. Waiting on the Promise. I imagine they became a bit restless but the wait was worth it. God’s promises are always were great. We must let this world know we must share what God has done and what He wants to do in their life. Oh Glorious experience of the Holy Ghost,oh what a promised fulfilled.
    His Strength is Perfect

  14. Acts 1:13-14
    13) And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
    14) These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

“One Accord in Prayer and Supplication”
They were ALL in UNITY in PRAYER and SUPPLICATION. This is the way it should be for us when we come to Prayer Service. We need to be in UNITY, of one heart and one mind, speaking the same things, praying that God”s Will will be done in service and lives will be changed by the Power of the Word.

  15. 26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Do not ever think that you are irreplaceable, for even the spot Judas sat after he died was replace. Just as Seth replace Abel.

  16. “The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:1, 8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Remember to GO preaching what Jesus both did and taught. GO with BOLDNESS and COURAGE knowing you hold the power to heal, to speak in tongues, the gift of faith, you’re given knowledge and wisdom…etc. know that you have power inside of you. Preach about the Holy spirt that dwells in each of us.

    God bless you all

  17. 8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Those that waited in the upper room had to be patient until the holy ghost fell upon them. When we are patient and wait for God to work things out in his timing and in his way; everything works out so much better than when we are impatient and do things in a hurry. God knows every aspect of our situation and what needs to be done to get us through.I pray that I can be both patient and obedient to what God tells me. He has never led me down the wrong path and he never will!

  18. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Sometimes the hardest thing we can do is wait on God. However, it is always the best thing.

  19. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Because we have Jesus and his spirit living in us we are mighty through him!

  20. 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
    10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

As it has been stated this past weekend. We are in the end times and Jesus is ever closer to coming. Get ready young people. Be ready to meet him.in the air. Get ready to do something amazing for God. We are going. #GODOSOMETHING for Jesus

  21. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

We shall receive power, but that requires God to be here, and Jesus inhabits the praises of his people. Our power flows with praise, may I learn to praise the Lord at all times.

  22. 24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

We can always turn to God! In those times of life when we make life changing decisions we should Always Always Always be sure that the decision we make is inline with God’s will. Just as the disciples turned and prayed for His direction, we should be sure we do the same! Then we can be as David in 2Samuel 22 when he praises God for everything that He is! ” And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;  The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.  I will call on the Lord , who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” If we be sure that God is first in our lives, then nothing in this world can prosper against us! Let’s GO in the name of the Lord!

  23. Hannah: “7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Even though we don’t know when the Lord will come again we need to praise every time as if it is our last time to praise him. Praise in the morning, afternoon, evening, and in the nighttime. Praise him whenever you have a chance, because you don’t know if it is your last time on this Earth and now isn’t the time to turn away from the Lord. He is close and we need to reach out to as many people that we can. This world needs to be saved and it is my desire that I will never stop doing the will of the Lord and that I will always reach out to the lost.

  24. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea , and in Samaria, and unto uttermost part of the earth.

GO and be concerned with world evangelism in JESUS NAME

  25. 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Knowing is not always the most important thing. For without faith it is impossible to please God. Sometimes we just have to trust God and not know the times or the seasons but know that His power will work it all out for the good of the church.

  26. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

That same power lives in me. Jesus promised that the Comforter shall come and it is His own Spirit poured out until us. It is power to witness and overcome the world just as Jesus did. Not by our own might but through Christ by His Spirit we can do anything.

  27. Verses 7-8 MSG “He told them, “You don’t get to know the time. Timing is the Father’s business. What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.” Everything is in God’s time and manner. We must continue to wait upon the Lord and continue to GO being witnesses, even to the ends of the world.

  28. 25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

No one is promised or secured a position in Gods work. Some fall before their calling is fulfilled, others make it all the way to the end. God is no respecter of persons so he will move on without you. It’s not Gods will that anyone should be lost but if one is standing in the way of thousands then the math just doesn’t add up. Gods purpose will succeed even if I don’t. I will GO with God. No rock is going to take my place

  29. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Thank God for being baptized with the water and the spirit!

  30. 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

    40 Days of Jesus

This weekend was the cherry on top. Evangelist Greg Godwin brought a prophetic powerful word to The Pentecostals and Los Pentecostales!

Jesus is alive and well, not just because the Bible says it but because what the Prophet Joel said God would do in the latter days is still being poured out this very day.

This story has not ended but has been the catalyst to launch us in a harvest we have never seen before.

    Get ready!

  31. Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile.
Acts of the Apostles 1:12 NLT
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. KJV

On the Sabbath you were instructed to not do as much. A Sabbath’s day journey as it says is only half a mile. The burden that God gives us is a light burden. It could have been a long road to journey to receive a baptism of fire, but it was a light journey. The road back to their place of prayer was a short journey. If we have fallen away from a more dedicated prayer life, the journey back can be light and easy.

  32. Jesus appeared to the apostles before he went up to heaven they were scared at first but after he spoke to them about the Holy Spirit they knew they weren’t alone. Jesus will be with them every step of the way as they preach and teach the good news to everyone. They were in Unity including the women and Jesus mother Mary prayed together.

For it was the will of God for Jesus to die for us so that we may live. Thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit that I may shine for you everywhere I go in Jesus Name.

  33. Price of unbelief

I have no doubt that Judas knew it was wrong for him to betray Jesus. He made his plans secretly, and afterward he tried to return the money and ended up committing suicide. Why did Judas turn against Jesus? Some believe that he was driven by greed.

I believe that Judas refused to believe that Jesus was God; wrapped in flesh and sent from heaven to save us from our sins. Although he had every opportunity to hear what Jesus taught and witness His miracles, Judas remained an unbeliever. Was it logical? No — but then sin never is. When we sin, we are saying that we do not believe in God’s promises, and our way is better than His. It isn’t logical — but we still do it.

Judas’ life should stand as a warning to us — a warning against the dangers of unbelief. Let’s Make sure we aren’t like Judas.

  34. 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

This is Scrptural validation for 40 days of fire dedication because Jesus with passion, on fire was seen before his ascension into heaven teaching and demonstration the way we need to walk after baptism in likeness of His death and receiving the Holy Ghost he gifted us in likeness of His resurrection. Now like Jesus with that fire and passion we must go!

  35. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”
    ‭‭
The last thing that Jesus wanted us to remember was that we would receive power when the Holy Ghost has come upon us. We wants us to remember that when we seek him we get Power! Power to overcome. Power to follow him. Power to tell people about the saving grace that is given to us all.

Power is what we really need.

  36. 4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.

Its obedience when a man of God listens to his authority to release him to further his ministry. Just like when Pastor Watts left Dallas First, he left once Bishop said he could. We saints should also obey our Pastor before moving on, instead of leaving on your own terms.

  37. Act1: 13-14 ( English Amp ) And when they had entered the city They mounted the stairs to the upper room where they were indefinitely staying. Peter and John and James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all devoted themselves to prayer. They were waiting together with woman and Mary the mother of Jesus,And with His brothers. There was a lot of prayer going on. Also there was unity of togetherness in the upper room.

  38. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 KJV

The Holy Ghost empowers us with the strength to be his witnesses. We are called to go and teach the good news everywhere we go even to the uttermosy part of the earth.

  39. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

The greatest gift that we can have is the Holy Ghost I don’t ever want to imagine life without God and his spirit living in me. Thank you God for choosing me to serve you!!
