Psalm 97

The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.

For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

  1. Verses 9-12 CEV “The Lord rules the whole earth, and he is more glorious than all the false gods. Love the Lord and hate evil! God protects his loyal people and rescues them from violence. If you obey and do right, a light will show you the way and fill you with happiness. You are the Lord’s people! So celebrate and praise the only God.”

Deuteronomy 6:4 CEV says “Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only true God!” Romans 15:13 NIV says “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Let us be like Psalm 145:7 CEV “They will celebrate and sing about your matchless mercy and your power to save.”

Ephesians 3:19 CEV “I want you to know all about Christ’s love, although it is too wonderful to be measured. Then your lives will be filled with all that God is.”

  2. 10. Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Don’t claim to love the Lord while you love evil.

    Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  3. Ps. 97:10-12 (NLT)
    10) You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.
    11) Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right.
    12) May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD, and praise his holy name.

Thank You JESUS that you Protect and Rescue us. Thank You that Your Light shines upon us and You give us Joy in our hearts. Today, I will Rejoice in You Lord and Praise Your Holy Name!

  4. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

  8. 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

The glory of God is strong enough to melt like wax the very earth’s hills and mountains. When we see God and recognize Him for who he is not just for what he’s done all vs. 6 tells us that all the people will see His glory!

  9. 1 The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice ; let the distant shores be glad.

9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

  10. 9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Highly exalted in all the earth, that’s who my God is! As a visual person imaging the greatness of God as the chapter describes, blows my mind to know how magnificent my God is!

Psalms 97:11 KJV  Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Wow, the Word says in Galatians 6:7 KJV  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” So, we see here in Psalm 97:11, the Word declares that Light is sown for the righteous…That means righteous folks are far less likely to get lost than the unrighteous.

The key is finding out what righteous.

    H6662
    צַדִּיק
    tsaddı̂yq
    tsad-deek’
From H6663; just: – just, lawful, righteous (man).

With this definition of the word righteous, we find that the lawful receive light and the unlawful walk in darkness. Folks can go to church and still be unlawful. In God’s Kingdom, it is unlawful to lie. So, a born again believer who is unlawful and starts telling lies, no matter how small the deception is starts walking toward the darkness. But those who are righteous “sow” light.

We should always be righteous and by doing what is right we will never have to worry about becoming lost in the darkness.

  12. 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

Who can stand before an all mighty God! Not majestic Mountains, or beautiful hills they melt like wax. How much more do we melt in the presence of God! The fire is so intense that it just melts away all the issues of life and leaves us in a state of brokenness, we cant stand, we cant speak, we just weep and then we rise and REJOICE, Because in the moment of brokenness, God has repaired us and we are ready to Praise, Dance, Shout, and fight again!

  13. 11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

If you are living a righteous lifestyle it makes it more difficult to detour from God and turn to the world. Not only will walking in righteousness help us in making it to heaven but it will fill our heart with gladness and His light will shine down on us! GO live righteously!

  14. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord , ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
    Psalms 97:11‭-‬12 KJV

Every so often I have to be reminded that the light of the Lord shines down. That I’m not the one in charge. The past few months have been a blur; I started getting that stinking thinking. Then in one night: I was reminded Who is in charge. It sure ain’t me and I don’t want to be in charge. God has shined His light and shown me what a fool I have been. Thank you Jesus for opening my eyes .

  15. We serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the heavens declare his righteousness and all the people see his glory.

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

  16. 3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

I was reminded of the message last night in 2 Chronicles 13 were Jerobam rose up against Abijah and the shout of praise brought victory for Abijah and the Israelite.

2 Chronicles 13: 15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.

17 And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

If we will focus on praising our way out of whatever the situation is, God will raise up a standard against the enemy. It’s His word and He cannot lie!

  17. 11 – 12 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

In reading this Psalms, how can we not be inspired to have JOY?
    The Lord Reigneth!
The Fire has gone before us and destroyed our enemies.
The Heavens declare His righteousness, & ALL PEOPLE see His Glory!

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phili 4:8

Allow the scriptures today, to inspire you to have TRUE Joy from the Lord, Think Yourself Happy!

  18. I Can See His Glory As I praise My Way Out

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

The results in a 40 day fast is seeing the glory of God. We may not exactly see what we were expecting or what we had requested from God but HIs glory will always be there. In seeing and hearing the praises of the people and seeing lives changed this past weekend is worth more than any petty situation in our own lives. We are so privileged to be in the midst of the glory of God and to feel what we felt last night. Yep easier said than done for many of us me included but His Glory is what all of this is about and not what we get or do not get. I will continue to lift up His name and serve Him in what areas He allows me to serve in. For His Glory and Not mine!

His Strength is Perfect when ours is not!

  19. Let all be put to shame who serve carved images, Who boast of idols. Worship Him, all you gods.
    Psalms 97:7 NKJV

Wow just like the preacher said last night. God is above all gods and he is a jealous God and praise and glory belongs to Him. It’s time to praise Him!!

  20. 1 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

This verse caught my attention The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice. For where the Lord reigns there is joy. And last night we where told of the principalities that where getting removed from their high places, and the Lord setting up his throne, meaning that we are bringing joy to this region. And when I looked up Isles via BLB I found its usage was coast, island, shore, or region. Which includes Fort Worth region! So may Fort Worth be glad of that joy of the Lord is coming!

  21. Follow the Fire

3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

What a powerful message by Bro Godwin. How can people make decisions to follow people who just show up and claim they know a better way? How can people choose to follow someone who was not sent? Granted, when we first arrived at POFW we did not know the story of how Pastor Watts came to a Pastor and the details of how he got to Ft. Worth. However, knowing the history should solidify any concerns or doubts for anyone!

People who claim that they cannot get along with someone who demands so much time, talent and treasure do not fully understand leadership. Pastor does not demand these things from us to keep us under his thumb and constant supervision. Rather, to help us grow and understand the principles of leadership, servant-hood and discipleship. I believe it would be safe to say that Pastor has far better things to do than keep tabs on our every move and decision.

Let’s follow the pillar that has been placed in front of us. Let’s partake of the blessing that following provides.

  22. Josiah: 1 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
“1 The Lord reigneth…12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous…” God is in control of all our situations and we can rejoice because we serve God. We are the “righteous” that can rejoice in the Lord. God “preserveth the souls of His saints”. God is our rock and our Savior. Our King and our Lord and we can rejoice because if God is for us who can stand against? God has so much to offer us, more than we could dream of, but there are still those lost and wanting souls that God died for too. So let us GO BOLDLY in the Protection of the Lord! Let us GO be that city set on a hill that has a fire burning. LETS GO BOLDLY IN THE PROTECTION OF THE LORD! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  23. Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

I pray for a love and fear of the LORD to reside in the hearts of our children. I pray that we as parents and teachers can effectively translate to our youth how to cultivate an intimate and loving relationship with God.

  24. 3Fire spreads ahead of him and burns up all his foes.

Yes, fires burns everything in its path. Fire destroys but at the same its good for nature. When fire burns grass, valleys and forest all living things are gone. The aftermath the ground is renourished and replenished, and grass/trees grow better. We too have to allow God burn ours sins, so we too can grow stronger in our walk with God. It will hurt at first, but the outcome far out ways the the consequences.

  25. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

I’m going to shout His praises as loud as I can so that everyone can hear how great He is!

  26. “Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭97:2-6‬ ‭KJV

This description of the awesome power of Jesus helps to keep our pride in check. When we think we are someone and some big accomplishment we just need to think of how big our God is. These verses put our thoughts into perspective.

  27. God reigns over all his creation and yet allows us to choose whether he will reign in our own hearts, and because judgment is withheld so many choose to shut God out of their life. Such travesty for so many who just refuse to open their eyes and ears to what God has provided for their life. The pinnacle of his creation and yet lost in the darkness of their own decisions. O Lord allow your voice to continually speak to me!

The key to so much of it is seen in those final verses: ‘Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.’ We cannot love what the world has to offer and still truly love God… that’s why we need to choose this day which we will serve.

If our choice is with him, his promise is to not only preserve our souls but to deliver us from the hands of those who have chosen to oppose him. Both had a choice to make, but that light continues to shine for the righteous and paradoxically it is the upright that are glad in their heart. So many make the wrong choice under a mistaken impression of what will truly make them glad.. but God provides it freely to those who follow him with all their heart. We can truly rejoice and be glad and give thanks even at the remembrance of his holiness!

For those who truly love God and serve him BY CHOICE, holiness is not about restrictions, it is a measure of our devotion to him and a recognition of the safety his holiness provides for our lives and are families… which is why we are thankful for the very aspect of our walk which so many in the world despise. They rail and ask why while we give thanks and praise to him! The difference in their defiance versus our delight is all in what we’ve allowed to reign in our hearts!

  28. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

  29. The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

Wow this amazing to me that nature and the element within know how to worship now down to God. If we can get that revelation everyday that God is worthy of the praise regardless to how I feel or may be going through.

  30. To please God will align with your desire being his desire .
You will love what he loves and hate what he hates . If you love the Lord you will hate the very appearance of evil.
Learn to love God and hate evil in every form even sin that is accepted by are world and society today.

  31. 7-8 All who serve handcrafted gods will be sorry— And they were so proud of their ragamuffin gods! On your knees, all you gods—worship him! And Zion, you listen and take heart! Daughters of Zion, sing your hearts out: God has done it all, has set everything right.

The power God has is amazing! Every knee is going to bow to the One True Living God! You have it all in your hand God! I praise your name with all that I have and all that I am! Thank you God for letting me be a light for you and singing all praises to the God who has all the power!

  32. Psalm97:6 ( English Amp) The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory. For you Lord you are High above all the earth. You are Kings and Kings and Lords of Lords,Holy Holy is the Lord. For the Lord is a jealous God. Bow down before him and praise him ,For he is good. Make a joyful noise to the Lord.

  33. I love to worship The Lord
    Vs-10
The Lord loves those who hate evil he protects the lives of his people and rescues them from evil and from the wicked
Before Christ I spent a lot of time in the Drug World I was very deep in that world I was around people that were full of the devils spirit and also very wicked
I find this verse was very true in my life THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR PROTECTION

  34. 1 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

Luke 19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

If we do not praise the Lord, the earth itself will praise him.

  35. “Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭97:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    You Can’t Two Time God

“O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your actions show where your heart is. You can’t love God and go intentionally sinning. You can’t love God and hate one another. You cannot love God and so evil. You cannot serve two masters. I met a backslider today that is in love with the world and the evil that it has to offer but he claims to love God. This is a trick and deceit of the enemy. The thought that ” God knows my heart” is really the scariest thought you can imagine. If your heart is right you do right. If your heart is in God then you do godly things. You cannot two time God. He knows!

  36. 3A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

Young people. The fire that this passage is talking about is the fire inside of us. The holy ghost fire. That dwells inside each of us. Don’t let the enemy come in and say that you are a forgotten generation. This is a lie. You are a chosen generation, we are part of the royal priesthood. Remember with out love we are nothing. Without God we are.nothing. stay strong my friends. Our fire will consume our enemies. Just wait and watch God perform the miracles.

    #GODOSOMETHING for God

  37. Psalm 97:9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Exodus 18:11 Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods:for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

  38. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

God always preserves and protects his children just as a parent will do all they can to to preserve and protect their children. The most humbling part is that he does this because of his love for us. When you give your life to him and live to please the Lord, you begin to love the things that the Lord loves and hate those things in which he hates. My draw to this world that I once had is gone and those things I thought was acceptable when in the world now I shun away from.
I thank Jesus for everything he has, is, and will do in my life, the life of my family and those in his church!

  39. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

You either love the Lord or you dwell in evil.. you CAN NOT participate in sin and love the Lord.
Black or White. No gray. Right or Wrong.

  40. Hannah: “9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.” This is a good reminder to me that the Lord is above all and that he is always with his people. He is my strength when I am weak and I am so thankful that I can give all my burdens to the Lord. He is marvelous and he always delivers you when you walk with him. This encourages me to always continue to walk with Lord through every situation and to give everything to him.

  41. We serve the one and only true God. The heavens and the earth declare his glory. It’s high time for us to realize whi Jesus really is. He’s not just another man or some fairytale you tell to your kids at bedtime. He is Gid Jehovah, our bright and morning star. My God is worthy to be praised.

  42. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked

For some It’s so easy to quote this scripture yet hard to live it. Gossip is evil, jealousy is evil, sin is evil and ones tolerance for these things speaks louder than the ability to quote this scripture. Satan can quote scripture but that doesn’t make him righteous.

  43. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

We are to hate the very appearance of evil (1Thess 5:22). When in submission, as humble servants, Jesus will preserve our souls and continue to work on us as the potter on the potters wheel. When the enemy comes and attacks he will protect us (Isa 59:19).

  44. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

The Lord protects the righteous. Love God and hate all evil, Praise him no matter the situation and make him first in your life.

  45. There is no doubt that God is the one who reigns! Surely this can even be seen in the way the earth is made and everything in it is made; it’s all made to glorify God! All the chaos that is going on socially throughout the world doesn’t even matter when we remember that God is control! God is bigger and mightier than anything that someone could cause to ever happen in this world. There isn’t enough words to describe how omnipotent God is. Surely with God watching over us, there is nothing to fear! This is reason enough to praise God! “Praise ye the Lord . Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.”

  46. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked

  47. 10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

I know this is controversial but it has to be said. In the coming months we are going to see a decrease of Hispanics in our region. Many have been struck by fear because of the new laws that have been put forward.

Even thou many are in favor of these new laws, they do not know to the extent this will affect them. There many illegal immigrants among us, they are faithful to God and the church. They sit next to you in service, pay there tithes and offerings, and participate in leadership.

You probably don’t know they are not citizens because they have lived here many years, working hard, providing for there children.

Unfortunately, this is a real fear that the Spanish church is fighting. We need to pray for our brothers and sisters that unknowing to us will be affected by this law. Some are fighting with the decision to abandon there children to avoid being deported.

Theses are people that we call brothers and sisters in the faith.

  48. 9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

Always exalt God over anything and do not allow anything else to become so exalted in your life that becomes a god. It can be s problem or something you enjoy. God is first

  49. 8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.

In hard times I will praise the lord.

  50. Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
    Psalms 97:7 KJV

Every word that the Lord says will not return back to him void and when pagan worshipers are defeated they will recognize he is the God of all. When he shows himself in righteousness and glory every knee will bow and tounge confress he’s Lord (Isaiah 45:23).
