Psalm 99

The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.

He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

  1. Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also called on his name. They cried to the Lord for help, and he answered them. He spoke to Israel from the pillar of cloud, and they followed the laws and decrees he gave them. O Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but you punished them when they went wrong.
    Psalms 99:6‭-‬8 NLT
He is fair and just when we need something all we got to do is called apon his name he will answer.
He your father we you need him to be he friend we need him to be he is your healer and saver when you need him to be he is a faithful God

  2. Verse 3 NLT “Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy!” This verse and chapter reminded me of the song “When I Speak Your Name”:

    Jesus
The most beautiful Name of all Names
    Jesus
The only Name that brings healing and strength
    When I speak Your Name
    Mountains move
    Chains are loosed
    When I speak Your Name
    Darkness flees
It has no hold on me

    Jesus
Most beautiful Name that I know
    You’re the exalted One
    Jesus
    You have the power alone
    You lift the lowly one
    Jesus

    Be exalted
    Be exalted
    Be exalted
    Higher and higher

    No other Name
    No other Name
    I know

  3. 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Exalt and worship Him, for He is holy. Too many times we exalt other things in life above our God, half the time without even realizing it. Keep God first and remember He is holy which automatically makes Him the peak of perfection, the peak of exaltation; He is always highly exalted above all things. It’s up to us to recognize His holiness and then to worship or exalt Him as much as we desire.

  4. 3. Let them express praise and gratitude to Your amazing and awesome Name – because He is holy, perfect and exalted in His power. Voice

Just the mention of His Name brings awe and wonder because of His holiness and power.

    Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your Name
Jesus Your Name is power, breath and living water
    Such a marvelous mystery

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing praise to the King of kings
You are my everything and I will adore You.

  5. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.
Lift him up as soon as you wake up. Be thankful you’re on this side of the grass. Pray for peace today and the rest of this week. Give God the glory for every miraculous thing you encounter. He’s moving. He’s Alive. He’s Risen.

    God bless you all!

  6. O Lord our God, you answered them, you were a forgiving God to them, but you ponished them when they went wrong. Psalms 99: 8 NLT

when I was growing up I did not comprehend when my father disciplined me. At that time I thought my father did not love me, as I grow up I understood. I’m grateful and thankful because that taught me principles. Now that I’m a father, I understand the importance of discipline.

  7. 8 O Lord our God you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.

  8. 2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
No one and nothing on the earth can ever begin to compare to our God. No position,no possession, no education,no wisdom, no beauty. He is above everything. He chooses the simple things to confound the wise. His thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours. He is omnipotent, omniscient, our help in time of trouble, our guide, our light, our healer, our comforter, our protector. He alone can we trust. He gives us joy, peace, beauty for ashes and a salvation we did not deserve. He loves us more than we could ever possibility love ourselves or those dearest to us. He is greatly to be praised. He alone is worthy of all the praise, glory and honor infinitely before time ever began, now, when times ceases and for all eternity. OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD

  9. Psalm 99The Message (MSG)

99 1-3 God rules. On your toes, everybody!
He rules from his angel throne—take notice!
    God looms majestic in Zion,
He towers in splendor over all the big names.
Great and terrible your beauty: let everyone praise you!
    Holy. Yes, holy.
4-5 Strong King, lover of justice,
    You laid things out fair and square;
You set down the foundations in Jacob,
Foundation stones of just and right ways.
Honor God, our God; worship his rule!
    Holy. Yes, holy.
6-9 Moses and Aaron were his priests,
Samuel among those who prayed to him.
    They prayed to God and he answered them;
He spoke from the pillar of cloud.
And they did what he said; they kept the law he gave them.
And then God, our God, answered them
(But you were never soft on their sins).
Lift high God, our God; worship at his holy mountain.
Holy. Yes, holy is God our God.

I will bless bless the Lord with all my heart! Praises to the Almighty King who knows everything. I will delight in Him for He is ever faithful.

    His Strength is Perfect

  10. Psalms 99:3, 5, & 9
    3) Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.
    5) Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
    9) Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

Our GOD is Holy and HIS Name is Holy.

There is a song and the first refrain of it says…
I call you holy, your name is holy
You are so holy to me
I call you holy, your name is holy
Holy you are and holy you’ll be

  11. 1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

God Loves when his people praise Him, He loves when we worship Him in spirit and in truth! Jesus is my rock, my rock my sword and my shield, Hes the wheel in the middle of the wheel, I know he’ll never, never let me down, He is a Jewel that I have found! Hallelujah Hallelujah, I love to praise His name, Hallelujah Hallelujah, I love to praise His Name, OHHH I love praise His Holy Name!

  12. 1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

Our God is high and lifted up, his ways and his thoughts are above ours. He is great and greatly to be praised for his goodness and loving kindness to us. David said one time in Psalms 8: 4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
The almighty God of Heaven and Earth desires our fellowship, our love, adoration and praise -for He loves us with an everlasting love. I Praise you

  13. iLove to Go Blog
Psalms 99:4 KJV  The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

Notice the verse says , “The king’s strength loves judgement.” Wow, the king is honored when there is judgement and and righteousness. The strength of the kingdom rests upon righteousness. This is why in God’s Kingdom there must be righteousness and judgement. We must continually be cleansed in order to walk in the strength of the Lord. If we expect God to live in us, we must love good judgement, and we must walk in righteousness.

  14. AMP – 6 Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
    And Samuel was among those who called on His name;
They called upon the Lord and He answered them.
    7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
    They kept His testimonies
And the statutes that He gave them.
    8 You answered them, O Lord our God;
You were a forgiving God to them,
And yet an avenger of their evil practices.

Too many people think that the grace of God eliminates the judgements of God, but that is not so. We see several instances in the bible where God was merciful, but we also were God judged sin. We must not become so “comfortable” with God that we begin to think He will overlook sin in our lives He must honor His own word, and sin will separate us from Him, and we will be judged.

  15. WHAT IS GOD UP TO IN YOUR LIFE?

1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

Reflecting on a few key words in these verses such as; reigneth, tremble, sitteth, cheribums, great, high, above all.

These verses affirm our FAITH in GOD that when we call upon HIM in PRAISE, he MOVES the earth and is OVER and ABOVE all the people.

However, our adversary, satan, lucifer, the devil is a wannabe. He was created an angel, but wants to be GOD. He works in the realm of deceit, defamation, and deception in an attempt to bring down the people of GOD. When our lives are under attack from the adversary, we are challenged to seek the LORD and the Psalmist indicates here in this passage where the all powerful and gracious GOD of Glory may be found. Dont look low, look high, don’t look down, look up.

The question WHAT IS GOD UP TO IN YOUR LIFE is a question of FAITH. How high is GOD on our priority list? How high is the GOD on our friend list? How high is GOD on our praise list? Do we call on others before we call on GOD? Do we Praise others or things before we Praise GOD? Do we seek first the Kingdom of GOD or as a last resort?

Lift JESUS to the top of our lives and we serve a GOD that sitteth between the cheribums and is over all the people. Nothing less will satisfy.

  16. 6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.

7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

The men of old in the bible had such great personal relationships with God. So much so that they were able to speak to God out of a pillar and God would speak back to them. I long to have that type of walk with God were he and I could talk like He and Moses talked

  17. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-9
Exalt The Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain in Jerusalem for he is Holy
The psalmist calls all human kind to exalt God because he is Holy and he forgives those who call upon him
Thank you Jesus that we get to Worship you also thank you Jesus that we have a Pastor that teaches and lets you know how important worship is

  18. 8 O Lord our God, you answered them.
You were a forgiving God to them,
but you punished them when they went wrong.

Yes, God will forgive us. BUT that doesn’t give you a “get out of jail free” card. Your choices will have consequences, and they will not only affect you but those around you as well.

  19. “O Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but you punished them when they went wrong.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭99:8 NLT

We serve such a forgiving and merciful God that it sometimes becomes easy to abuse His mercy and use it as an excuse to sin, but that was never what His mercy was meant for! We’re suppose to take everytime He forgives us as another chance to strive harder for perfection, to strive to be more like Him, not as a license to sin!

  20. Josiah: 1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.
“The Lord reigneth…Let them praise thy great and terrible name…” God is in control. No matter what the devil may try to do God is the Beginning and the End. The Alpha and the Omega. He died for our souls. He is the only true God and we can rejoice and praise Him because if God is for us who can stand against. The Bible says in the last verse of Psalms “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” Since I still have breath I can still praise the Lord. SO LET US GO PRAISE THE LORD OUR GOD WHO STILL AND ALWAYS WILL REIGN! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  21. 3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

I looked up that word terrible and came up yare which is yârêʼ, yaw-ray’; a primitive root; to fear; morally to revere; causatively to frighten. Which helps me understand the next part of the verse for it is holy. His name is holy. Morally it is what we all should have our guidelines set to and revere. And revere is a verb meaning to have deep respect or admiration for something. Which is what we have for the name of Jesus.
Yârêʼ also means to causatively frighten or give a cause to frighten. Which it does, for when we shout the name of Jesus demons have to flee. But it is also something for me to fear because his name is holy and sin can not abide in his presence. So, what could I do, that could push me out? I pray I never find out, but instead continue to follow his will.

  22. 5Exalt the LORD our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy.

Yes, our Lord Jesus is worthy to be lifted up high. He is the only true God. Unfortunately many exalt other false gods to include idols. But one day we all will bow before our Lord and praise him.

  23. Hannah: “9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.” Praise him wherever you are. He deserves everyone’s highest praise because he is the one true living God. I am so thankful that I can praise him wherever I am and not be ashamed. There are so many people looking for the Lord and we need to show God’s love towards them. Never stop showing the Lord’s love towards his people and his children. We need to keep the new babies in the Lord in the church, so that they can grow in the church and desire to grow in him. My desire is that I never will stop praising him and showing his love towards his children.

    Psalms 99:7‭-‬9 KJV

God should always be exalted above all. His name is greatly to be praised: I should always put Him at the head of everything and every decision I make. From this point God will always be put before anything that is done in my life. I will praise Him daily and seek Him first. Thank you Jesus for giving me the ability to praise you.

  25. The old testament is always a good reference for the importance of the application of his blood to our lives. He not only reigns, ‘he sitteth between the cherubims’ where the blood of sacrifice was to be applied. We praise him for he is great! We praise his name because it is above all others! And just as his name is holy, that blood was to be applied in the holiest of holies. He is a holy God and we cannot expect to please him without living a holy life. Yes, we are justified by his blood, but our continued sanctification requires action on or part. ‘Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.’

The world would have us push aside those attributes today in favor of hearing from God in an individual fashion but this passage says, ‘He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them. Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them…’ They heard from God in a powerful and visible fashion before the people yet they still kept both his testimonies and his commandments. Not only what was specifically required by law but also that which reflected on their testimony. God considers our testimony to be important! We are a reflection of his image to the world so what do they see? Does our testimony ‘Exalt the Lord our God’ and do we continue to ‘worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.’ Be ye holy for I am holy is his command! Allow our light to shine bright and pure that even the world might know who he is!

  26. 4 The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Mighty are you lord I will exalt your name you are worthy of the praise!

  27. Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.
7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

    Worship at his footstool
    ..let us worship in humility

  28. v9 Exalt the LORD our and worship at his holy hill: for the LORD our God is holy

As Rev.G Godwin stated GOD will respond to our worship and Praise to HIM.
    He IS HOLY!

  29. 2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

Just as Pastor preached tonight at church we should always be praising God! Our mouths should be full of His praises. There is literally so much to be praising God for that it is impossible to say that we have praised Him for everything. Just as the Psalmist says, we should even praise His name! God is amazing and there is no-thing that is too big for God. We need to keep our focus on Him and give God the glory in our lives! “Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.”-Psalm 113

  30. 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Let’s give praise and worship the most high. For he is worthy of all our praise.
    #GODOSOMETHING and praise God.

  31. 1-3 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.

Every nation trembles and the whole earth shakes because our God reigns over all! What a mighty God we sever! God I praise your name for your great, awesome, and holy! There’s so much more you worthy for and I thank you God for all you have done and what is to come!

  32. 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

We often need to remind ourselves that even if God does nothing else for us He has done enough. We should daily be willing to worship Him because He is holy. He woke us up we can see, move, and breath because of Him. We are in our right mind because of Him so why not praise Him

  33. Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

Hallelujah what an awesome and marvelous God we serve. Let’s not forget that He forgives us and gives us life. It is His salvation that grants us the opportunity of eternal life with Jesus. Praise him for who he is and for the his salvation

  34. The continual reign

1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

No matter what you are going through. The Lord reigneth. No matter the circumstance, he is on the throne. This is why we can praise him even when everything is not goin our way, that doesn’t change who He is. Pastor was right in point tonight. God is above all this mess so if you want to be with him you have to rise above it aswell.

  35. “The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people. Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭99:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

All the people see that Jesus is the Highly Exaulted one. He is the one who has done greater things than we can imagine.

  36. Psalm99:9 ( English Amp) Extol the Lord our God and worship at His holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy! Wake up Praising , and thank God for waking you up. Ask God what he wants you do today for him. Give God all the glory and honor. Thank God that we have pastor that preaches the truth and loves God.I love to praise God for everyday for my life with him.

  37. Here the psalmist speaks of worshiping God at his footstool. King David had wanted to build the Lord a temple that would house the ark of the covenant, which represents the glory of the Lord. David also referred to the ark as the Lord’s footstool, the place where God’s presence rests and therefore a fitting place to worship him (Ps 99:5; 132:7). Scripture also refers to the Lord’s enemies as his footstool, declaring that he will have victory over them (Ps 110:1; Heb 10:13). God’s footstool also refers to the earth, as heaven represents his throne (Isa 66:1). We give the Lord the praise due his name by recognizing his authority over all and bowing humbling in worship at his footstool.

  38. 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
Exalt- hold (someone or something) in very high regard; think or speak very highly of:

We don’t have to look very far to exalt the name of the Lord! Just to be able to wake up another day with breathe in my mouth is a blessing. We must exalt our Lord our God at all times!!! Just to imagine that the Earth is His Footstool is something that is WWOOOOOOW in my eyes!!! The first time that I read, understood, and visualized this verse it opened my eyes as I realized that I was lacking in faith. I realized that the one who I pray to is so BIG that the EARTH is His FOOTSTOOL!!! Nothing is to hard or impossible to God!!! Thank you Lord for never leaving my side!!!

  39. 6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.

When we are caught in a whirlpool of emotion, it is difficult to find a way out. When answers to urgent prayer don’t seem to come, we tend to question God. It could be we don’t recognize answers when they come. Not every answer is yes.

God did not put us on earth to fail but to succeed. Some of us face life with only our own experience and capacity to help ourselves. Others pray and seek divine inspiration to know what to do. Communication with God is not a trivial matter. It is a privilege. When we receive help, it is in response to faith, obedience, and the proper use of prayer.

Maybe we cant pray with the correct words. Don’t worry about our clumsily words. Just talk to God. He hears every prayer and answers it in His way. When we explain a problem and a proposed solution, sometimes He answers yes, sometimes no. Sometimes God withholds an answer, not for lack of concern, but because He loves us. He wants us to apply faith and our growing knowledge of how His kingdom works. For us to grow, we need to trust our ability to make correct decisions. We need to do what we feel is right. In time, He will answer. He will not fail us.

  40. 2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

There’s only one God and he deserves all of our praise for he is good.

  41. 3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

God has been bringing our focus into praising Him, the importance and the benefits of praising Him. I praise You, God! For You are great!!!!

  42. Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.(Psalms 99:3 KJV)

Lord there is no God like you in all the earth for you God are alone greatly to be praised. When we praise his holy name comtinually through the day others will have revelation that they need to praise him too.
