Psalm 112

Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

  1. What’s in the house?

3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

    “For ever”………….

  2. Verse 1 AMP “Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who fears the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience], Who delights greatly in His commandments.”

Psalm 37:4-6 AMP says “Delight yourself in the Lord, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; Trust in Him also and He will do it. He will make your righteousness [your pursuit of right standing with God] like the light, And your judgment like [the shining of] the noonday [sun].”

  3. Psalms 112:1 (AMP)
“Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!) Blessed (fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God) is the man who fears the LORD (with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience) Who delights greatly in His commandments.”

There is nothing hard to understand about this scripture this morning.
Do You want to be Blessed (prosperous and favored by God)? Then here’s the formula…
Fear the LORD + Delight greatly in His Commandments = BE BLESSED.
Give Him awe-inspired reverence and Worship Him with Obedience and Delight (take great pleasure) in Reading, Studying, Living according to His Word (Commandments), and You’ll Be Blessed (prosperous and favored by God.)

    Thank You JESUS,
    I AM SO BLESSED!!

    2. Their children will be a powerful force upon the earth; this generation that does what is right in God’s eyes will be blessed. Voice

We all want joy and we all want our children to be powerful; here’s what we can do – praise the Lord and not begrudgingly obey His commands, but delight in doing so. Nobody likes to see a reluctant response to their command.

  9. GO BE BLESSED

1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

We read in Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: now we better understand the plan of GOD and purpose of the fear of the LORD. The BLESSED life.

    AMP
    1. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who fears the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience],
Who delights greatly in His commandments.

    MSG
    1. Blessed man, blessed woman, who fear God,
Who cherish and relish his commandments,

    GNT
    1. Praise the Lord! Happy is the person who honors the Lord,
who takes pleasure in obeying his commands.

The KEY to being BLESSED is to Delight and Take Pleasure in OBEYING the commands of the LORD.

We find this principal practiced in the New Testament as we read in John’s First Epistle.

1John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

The word grievous means “burdensome”. These 2 passages reveal how valuable and important our attitude toward GOD and HIS Commands (written and oral) are to HIM. In certain settings our attitude can affect others more than our words.

The Psalmist identifies those with the right attitude toward GOD are those that are BLESSED by GOD. The psalmist also identifies that BLESSED here means to have resources and finances, to be good stewards over.

Lets check our attitude toward the commands of the LORD and we will possible find the cause of our financial frustration and resource shortfall.

Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.

Leviticus 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

Deuteronomy 12:11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

If bringing TITHE and OFFERING to the LORD is not a pleasure, joyous or delightful act, then you have just identified your financial problem. Bring the LORD HIS portion 10% FIRST then ask HIM how much offering you should give. This constant relationship teaches us to OBEY the LAW of GOD both written and spoken.

    Lets GO BE BLESSED

  10. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

  11. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

Sometimes, our fear gets the better of us. Sometimes our fears are like flames and our efforts to protect ourselves are like gasoline. Every attempt to ease our fears with our own understanding is like dousing fuel on the fire, and it will consume us. Some fear death. Some fear poverty. Others fear sickness, weakness or the inability to care themselves. Maybe our fear is related to trust. If we put our trust in someone they will take advantage of me like the last person did.

Pray that God will show us what we are afraid of – the root cause of the fear. What is paralyzing our faith and keeping us from living confidently in His peace and freedom? The next step is the hardest; let’s give God a chance to come through for us. Let’s walk through our fears, holding God’s hand and trusting Him to lead, protect and preserve us each step of the way.

  12. iLove to Go Blog

Psalms 112:1 KJV  Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
Psalms 112:3 KJV  Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

You want to be rich…well here is the recipe. Fear the Lord and delight greatly in his commands. Wow, do we really love the Lord, if we do we must keep his commandments. The thing about it is, there is more to it than just being obedient…to have the right attitude is essential. We must be willing and obedient. We must delight “greatly” in His Commands.

  13. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

There’s a difference between gladly serving and obeying versus going through the motions because you have to. We should never say we “we have to” do things or rant about all the things we can’t do. Its a privilege and honor to serve God; it’s a choice we have to daily make, no one is forcing but teaching. So this verse tells us to first, praise – hallelujah! And secondly, another way we can be blessed, which is by fearing God and delighting in His commandments (meaning, smile and take joy in serving Him!)

  14. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

The blessing that comes from possessing the reverence “Fear” of the Lord is that our legacy will be mighty upon the earth. We will have the favor of the Lord and others shall see the blessing of the Lord and desire it.

  15. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

    Again I say rejoice.

Praise him for he is good. Praise him for his righteousness. Praise him for he is good. When we praise him and we do his will. He will bless you. It’s really that simple. Praise the most high and he will give you the desires of your heart. Oh, give thanks unto him. Young people be blessed. Do God’s will and praise his name.

  16. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

The key words in this verse are “that greatly delighteth” in his commandments. God knows our heart and knows if we live by his commands out of love or in reluctance. God is such a magnificent power able to transcend to our human level and understand our needs and desires, that it is easy to love him. Then when we have fallen in love with him, it is easy to obey his commands. Praise the Lord, obey and be blessed!

  17. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

I have to trust in the Lord with my heart. There is no other way; God will keep me and raise me to be the man that He needs me to be. I will trust God for all that He provides. Thank you Jesus for all that you do.

  18. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

God is great and greatly to be praised!

  19. Josiah: 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
When we serve the Lord we can have so much confidence and trust because the Lord is on our side. Jesus has so many blessings for us and asks so little. He is our rock. When we hear of evil tidings we do not need to fear if our heart is fixed in the Lord and we trust Him. In fact when we hear of evil tidings it can give us even more reason to trust in the Lord and not man. As Psalm 118:8 says “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” In the end it is going to be God that is going to save us and we should trust in the Lord with all our heart, mind, and soul. So, let us GO with CONFIDENCE and BOLDNESS because the Lord is on our side! LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  20. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

Blessed is the man that not only fears the Lord but delights greatly in his commandments. Meaning when asked to do something by the Lord or the man of God, you do it with joy because you want to! And when following the commands of the Bible you don’t have a “I have to” mentality, but I desire to live right in every way possible mindset!

  21. 4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

  22. Reading this chapter reminds me of the song:
    I am blessed
    I am blessed
Everyday that I live I am blessed
When I wake up in the morning
Till I lay my head to rest
I am blessed, I am blessed
We have are blessed with too much for us to be grumbling and saying God isn’t answering our prayers. If you woke up this morning, food on your table, roof over your head, bed to sleep in you are blessed!

  23. 4 Sunrise breaks through the darkness for good people— God’s grace and mercy and justice!
7-8 Unfazed by rumor and gossip, Heart ready, trusting in God, Spirit firm, unperturbed, Ever blessed, relaxed among enemies,

Thank you Lord for letting your light break through the darkness that surrounds me! You pour out your mercy and guide me on the path you have for me. God I pray that everyday I’ll awake you will help teach me to have a ready heart! Let me learn new daily to trust in you, have a firm spirit, and be unfazed from my enemies and evil because I know it will be in your hands! Thank you Lord!

  24. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
Trusting in the Lord brings a peace which passes all understanding. He has shown his faithfulness, provision, protection, blessing, comfort, guidance, direction and instruction countless times in my life and those that I love. It does not matter what comes to us in life. When I rely upon Jesus he has, does and will always gives me a peace and confidence knowing for sure that He will bring me through. I cannot fear with the Lord on my side 😊

  25. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord

My mind is set, it’s made up. Trials and tribulations will always come and they to shall pass. That’s why I GO COURAGEOUSLY and trust in the Lord.

  26. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

A good man gives and a good man is discretionary. These are words of wisdom to a young man like myself. Our giving should be consistent and we should use wisdom in our decision making process. In doing so we will be stable and have a solid spiritual foundation.

  27. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Fearing our Lord and being delighted in his commandments is the key to many issues we face everyday. It’s having a reverence to who our God is and loving every things he has called us to do whether we like it or not. That is our favor and that is part of our inheretence.

  28. 1 Praise ye the Lord.

Lord will bless his people he will not forsake us.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
The enemy is under my feet we are all overcomers!

  29. So many of the promises of God are a blessing both to us and even those around us. ‘Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.’ Such a wonderful promise to ourselves that even in the midst of our darkest journey, God’s light will shine within us to provide the clarity we need… but note the second half of that verse. He is now speaking to the person so blessed and commending him on being gracious and full of compassion. That speaks to how we interact with others still lost in the darkness. We recognize that except for God’s grace we might still be in the same situation and reach out in compassion to show that light to them! And how will that light be effective? Only if that compassion is accompanied by righteousness!

We recognize the value of his light for ourselves, but that same light can be effective in reaching others if we allow it to shine pure! By God’s grace and favor we can make an impact in the life of someone else! And by doing so, it reinforces our own walk so that we can also have the confidence to declare we ‘shall not be moved for ever.’ Not only will we refuse to be moved, we ‘shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,’ The enemy has not been given any power over us unless we grant it to him, but we have been given power over him! There is no need to fear, we can let that light shine! Bad tidings don’t have to discourage, our trust is in God… not what we see of the situation. So let us trust in him and live for him and allow his light to shine through us for his glory!

  30. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord .
    Psalms 112:7 NKJV

We have a guarantee when we trust in the Lord and that is that no matter what comes our way whether it be good or bad He has everything in control. He will always stay true to His Word.

  31. Psalm 112:1 ( English Amp) Praise The Lord ! ( Hallelujah ) ! Blessed ( happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears ( reveres and worship ) the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. Deut.10;12] And now,Israel, What does the Lord your God require of you but ( reverently) to fear the Lord your God, That is to walk in all His ways, and to Love your God with all your mind and heart and with your entire being. This means that you keep the commandments of the Lord .Ask God for wisdom so that you learn more about him.Thank you Jesus .

  32. 9 They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.

We give offerings freely, and to those who are in need. Not only monies, but let us give freely of our time and talent. God sees the servant attitude you have, and how you are helping those in need. God will remember your goodness and bless you.

  33. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

The blessing of the Lord comes from the honor and reverence of God.

  34. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

No matter what comes our way, if we trust in the Lord we can be sure and hold fast. God is greater than any problem that comes our way. I love the statement ” Don’t tell God how big your problem is, tell your problem how big your God is.” If we keep our eyes and hearts fixed we don’t see all the trouble that is around us. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil. It is like a horse with blinders on. You have to focus on the path that is laid out before you and not get distracted with what’s going on around you. If your going through the worst time in your life right now just keep on going because you will reach the end of it soon, if you slow down or stop you may get stuck.

  35. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

Good people do not flaunt what they have but they use discretion they also know when to show favour to those that need it.

  36. Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

I pray that the Word I received on Sunday night would be not only to my family but I pray for all those that walk in the ways of the LORD. I pray that their seed shall be mighty and that their children will be drawn to the LORD because of our works in the kingdom. Not only for our children at home, but the precious children we are blessed to teach and evangelize to. I pray that children that are distracted by the world would gain focus and clarity, and gain a Kingdom mindset and strive for a fulfilling intimate relationship with the Jesus. In Jesus name.

  37. “A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭112:5‬ ‭KJV

    He uses discretion

This means that he thinks through things and does things that are good. He doesn’t fly off the handle. He is level headed and weighs his options. God help us all to have discretion when we do things.

  38. “Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭112:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we fear the Lord it is a delight to obey His commands. It’s not grievous or burdensome to obey. The Words says if we love Him we will keep His commandments. And our children will reap a blessing as well.

  39. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

This world is filled with many evil spirits that are after our souls but that shouldn’t face us. God has not given us a spirit of fear, NO WEAPON SHALL PROSPER, if God is with us who can be against us. We have the HG and therefore we have the victory and nothing shall bring fear into our lives. We need to let God take the wheel and completely trust Him in EVERYTHING!!!!

  40. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

It is very difficult for someone to leave God or sin against Him if they have a strong relationship with Him.

  41. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

This psalm talks about how blessed is the man that feareth the lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. And dicusses many of the blessings he will receive. I pray that not only will I delight in his commandents, but as the psalm says delighteth greatly in his word. May my love and delight for his word grow in me.

  42. 10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

The wicked are proud in their sins. They boast about their evil. But ehh the day of the lord comes. They will weep and desire to sin no more. Espeaciily the ones that have experienced his grace once but decide to go their own way. Have mercy.

  43. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

God intended us to be the lender and not the borrower. For us to prosper and not be in need. Those who are righteous are not intended to be begging bread for they are not forsaken, but look to God as their provider (Ps 37:25). When a righteous man prospers by the grace of God then they are not to hoard it to themselves but be generous by blessing others. It’s more blessed to give than to receive. It’s not about being recognized for the generosity either. We don’t deserve the spotlight but to highlight God our provider that entrusted us with blessings to bless others.
