Psalm 123

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

I love how in every Psalm where David is talking about how people are against him, he always gives God glory. There is always a reason to rejoice unto God.

  2. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
This is a Beautifully poetic verse that speaks of the eyes of the Lord and about anticipation, expectancy and believing that something great is going to happen in the spirit!

  3. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
I lift up mine eyes unto the lord this morning, I will lift up my voice and praise him for another day of life.

  7. LOOKING UP

1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Perilous times are upon us. Our HOPE is in the GOspel of JESUS. It is possible for us to be distracted by problems and perilous times in these last days. However we are BLESSED and instructed here by the psalmist to LOOK UP until HE has mercy on us. Pain, grief and sorrow cause us to hang our head. But knowing JESUS and the Power of HIS great name, gives us HOPE and INSPIRATION.

We are to LOOK UP until we see our SAVIOR return for HIS church. Keep your eyes on JESUS, look full in HIS wonderful face and the things of this world will grow strongly dim.

    I am LOOKING UP today.

  8. We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
    Psalms 123:2 NLT
When I look up you GOD you are there you are always there when I need you

  9. AMP – Unto you I lift up my eyes,
O You who are enthroned in the heavens!
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
And as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious and favorable toward us.
3 Be gracious to us, O Lord, be gracious and favorable toward us,
For we are greatly filled with contempt.
4 Our soul is greatly filled
With the scoffing of those who are at ease,
And with the contempt of the proud [who disregard God’s law].

As humans, it’s really easy to get our eyes on people that say they love God and are serving God, but are at ease in Zion, living unto their own selves, and not busy about the Kingdom. We must be cautious to not become a “judge” regarding them, but to let God be God and let Him deal with their disregard for His word.

Keep focused, keep our eyes on Jesus, and lift up our eyes unto the Heavens, this is where our help comes from.

  10. Verses 1-2 MSG “I look to you, heaven-dwelling God, look up to you for help. Like servants, alert to their master’s commands, like a maiden attending her lady, We’re watching and waiting, holding our breath, awaiting your word of mercy.” Who are you looking to? Whose command are you following? As we just read in Psalm 121:1-2 MSG “I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.”

  11. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Sometimes I go through life living out my days praising the lord and doing the same thing over agin. His promise of eternal life is what I striving for! Heaven is going to be the best thing ever to be seen. My focus needs to think about heaven and souls for the kingdom. Thank you Jesus!

  12. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

As Your servants God, we wait for each command, we wait for direction. Let all we do be according to Your will and under Your grace.

  13. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Everything we need we find in you Lord. I look to you daily to be my help, to go before me. I worship and praise you for your goodness and mercy.

  14. Psalms 123:1, “Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.”

Instead of David looking at his situation and circumstances, he knew where to look for his help. He lifted up his eyes unto JESUS.

Lift up your eyes and keep them focused on JESUS!

  15. Josiah: 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” This world may look at us with contempt and not like what we stand for. However, I know a God that when the storms come and the winds blow I will be able to stand because I am built on the Rock. Deuteronomy 32:31 “For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.” Psalms 18:31 “For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock save our God?” God is our rock and despite what this world may try to do to us, or how they look at us, God is Our Rock! So, let us GO BOLDLY be a CHRISTIAN! For, “1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.” LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE YE THE LORD!

  16. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
Jesus, I thank You for Your mercy, LORD. Where would I be without you?

  17. iLove to Go Blog
“Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭125:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Praise the Lord, the Lord strategically designed Jerusalem to be protected from attack. The same is true with the body of Christ. God designed standards of Holiness to protect us from the attacks of the enemy. Let’s keep the walls of protection up and God will deliver us from evil.

  18. Because of God ‘s mercy we are able to stand today. We didn’t do anything to deserve his mercy, but God who is rich in mercy showed it to us anyways. I’m glad I serve a merciful God.

  19. I LOVE TO WORSHIP THE LORD
This chapter expresses first the trusting attitude of the psalmist the his petition offered from a distressing situation

  20. 3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Amen! Have mercy upon us Lord! His grace and mercy is so BIG that even tho we don’t deserve anything He died for us!!! Thank you Jesus for having so much mercy upon us! No else like you Jesus!

  21. 1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.

Daily let my eyes be lifted up to you! As your servent let me look to you first and be sent with your grace and mercy! What a mighty God we serve!

  22. Psalm 123:( English Amp) Unto You do Iife up my eyes, O You Who are enthroned in heaven. Lord keep my eyes focus on you and your ways. Thank you for grace and mercy! Even when we dont deserve it. JESUS died for us. I am so glad I have a merciful God.

  24. 4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

There is nothing worse than a person who is arrogant. They can’t help or be helped. Cause more problems then they solve. I pray that the Lord keeps me humble and not Prideful.

  25. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

If it had not been for Gof on our side where would I be??

  26. Psalm 123

1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

In You oh Lord I place my hope and my trust for there is no one like You!

    His Strength is Perfect

  27. Where would be be?

3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Where would be be without the mercies of God? When I was a teenager my Dad would say that by the time I was 21 years old I would be dead or in prison. A few car wrecks later, a half an ear gone, most of my childhood memories erased and a then a lot of time spent behind bars I was beginning to believe that he was right. All the time I didn’t understand the grace and mercy of God was keeping me from going over the edge.

When I look back over my life
    And I think things over
    I can truly say
    That I’ve been blessed
    I’ve got a testimony

Jesus has held on to me through some really tough times and shown me great mercy.
I know a lot of the testimonies from everyone at POFW is alot like mine. Where would we be if it wasn’t for his mercy?

  28. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

The safest and most important thing to focus on is God and He dwells in heaven. I must learn to not allow my head to hang down but stay high and my eyes upon Him! It would be easy to focus on the challenges that are right in front of us and the World that is around us but I put my hope in God and I focus on my desired end- Heaven!

  29. 3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

O Lord have mercy on our souls, Lord we your children have been putting up with insulting spirits that attack us and try to lure us into the things of this world that is not of you. Lord we know that we are not going put up with evil spirits that try to stop our hunger and our fire and drive that lives within us.

  30. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Young people. Look to God for all the answers in life. He will never leave you. Trust in him and lean not unto your own understanding. Do his work and his will. Follow him and his teachings. He is a merciful God. He will take care of you in times of need and not in need. Yes we need him each and every day. Trust him, love him, and keep his commandments.

    #GODOSOMETHING

  31. When we keep our us up in Jesus we can rely on him to go before us in battle and He brings the victory. We are his servants and he he is our master and when we wait upon him we stay close enough to receive his mercy. He will avenge us of those who show contempt and ridicule for we belong to him.

  32. Psalm 123:3 (KJV)
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

    contempt
    1. springing from evil
    2. springing from prosperity
    3. springing from judgment

God’s mercy is more than any other mercy we could imagine. People show mercy through forgiveness and kindness. God shoes mercies in many more ways. Saving us. Forgiving us. Keeping us from danger. His mercy shows his love for us. That is why we can’t comprehend all he ways or reasons the Lord is merciful because he lives so much deeper than we can.

  33. “I look up and pray to you. Your throne is in heaven. Slaves depend on their masters. Maids depend on the women they work for. In the same way, we depend on the Lord our God. We wait for him to show us his favor.”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭123:1-2‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

I’m nothing without God! He is my Shepherd and I look to Him for my help. I will admit at times when I can do things on my own I take situations into my own hands. I am learning to depend on Him in EVERY area of my life. Jesus be the Lord of All the kingdoms of my heart.

  34. 1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Who do we look upon to for help and direction?

  35. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest thing to do…just wait.

    Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  36. Another wonderful reminder of why our eyes need to remain on him. The world is just as much an enemy of our soul as Satan. Just as I don’t want his guile bringing me down, I don’t want my perspective to be limited or defined by what spoken of me in the world. I am a child of the king!

The king’s children have an inheritance. They don’t look down to see how they should respond… they look up to the king. They want to emulate the king! We don’t need a common perspective. We need the perspective of the king! So let our eyes remain fixed on him, our strength and our song!
