Proverbs 7

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

    1) MY son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

    24) Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
    25) Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

    OBEY and LIVE
Verses 1-2 tells us to “KEEP and LAY UP” the Commandments, and we shall “LIVE.”

Verse 24 tells us once again to “LISTEN and PAY ATTENTION” to the Word that is spoken.

    REBEL and REGRET
Verses 25-27 is another situation where if you “REBEL” you will “REGRET” it, and you will die. James 1:15 says, “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth for sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

So “LISTEN and PAY ATTENTION” to the Word and Commandments of God that are spoken and “OBEY and LIVE.”
    REPENT and REJOICE.

  2. Verses 1-2 MSG “Dear friend, do what I tell you; treasure my careful instructions. Do what I say and you’ll live well. My teaching is as precious as your eyesight—guard it!” Same verses CEV “My son, pay close attention and don’t forget what I tell you to do. Obey me, and you will live! Let my instructions be your greatest treasure.”

Proverbs 2:4 AMP “If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver And search for her as you would hidden treasures;”. Proverbs 4:13 AMP “Take hold of instruction; [actively seek it, grip it firmly and] do not let go.
Guard her, for she is your life.” Seek IT skillfully, take hold of IT and guard IT!

  3. Keep my commandments and live, and my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers. Write them on the tablet of your heart. Praise the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  4. 1 My son, live according to what I am telling you; guard my instructions as you would a treasure deep within you.

2 Stay true to my directives, and they will serve you well; make my teachings the lens through which you see life. Voice

We all choose how we look at life; we can look at it through the lens of anger, hopelessness and poverty, or we can choose to see the joy, hope and increase that is around us. We should always try to look through the lens of wisdom so that we can see the traps the enemy has set for us before it’s too late.

  5. iLove to Go Blog
Proverbs 7:5 KJV  That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

This strange woman is not only talking about the obvious, but if we could look at this scripture through supernatural eyes we would see the spirit of deception walking through the church. Notice the strange woman was religious…There is a “religious spirit” that walks among the church. This spirit looks for those void of wisdom. This spirit is also called a “seducing spirit” and it preaches doctrines of devils. We must protect ourselves from the lies in the spirit realm and we must always stay away from the spirit of the enemy that is trying to steal our souls.

  6. Be Careful don’t let a man or woman deceive you with their words for the Lord is against sex before marriage guard your heart and mine keep your eyes open I promise you if you choose to go you own way with a relationship that God and your pastor and parents don’t approve I promise you you will fail your relationship will God down but it your are patient and wait on the Lord
Then you will have success and your relationship will be blessed

  7. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

  8. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

Keeping the word of God close to our heart and mind is what saves from when they would otherwise fail us. We cannot trust our heart and we cannot trust our own thoughts, holding on to the true word of God and letting that be our guide is what will keep us from the deceitful things. Evil will hardly ever show it’s real appearance and will cause doubt of the mind and emotions of the heart to be drawn away…but word of God is what keeps us close and prevents is from slipping

  9. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

  10. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Life is all about choices. We choose to do what needs to be done, ie go to work, school, errands, etc and reap the benefits of completing them or do them partially, or even not at all and be in want. How much more spiritually. We consciously choose to serve Jesus; to read his word, to pray,to go to church, to witness of this truth. Everything we do for the kingdom of God, no matter how small, how great; we are blessed for both having the privilege to serve and the life, strength, joy, provision, peace he provides to us because we chose to serve him. He does not force us to do his wil, or to obey his commandments of baptism in Jesus Name and being filled with his spirit. He wants us to make that decision for ourselves to obey him, have life and be blessed. If we don’t, he will leave us alone to our own devices. We will be in want and without. We will consciously choose not to live.

  11. So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.
    Proverbs 7:24‭-‬25 NLT

The importance of purity is scoffed at in this world. So many things have been tainted, perverted, and abused. But among the things I can stress and counsel our youth in it would be to stay strong, cling to God and your pastor. Keep yourself accountable when in the presence of others and strive for purity in this corrupt world. When you compromise your purity and other values it leave a trail of ruin and damage in it’s path. You do not come away from it unscathed. Protect yourself. Keep wisdom around your neck, keep it close just like we’ve been reading.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17

We must strive everyday to keep ourselves holy and our thoughts, intentions, and actions pure.

  12. GO IN GOD

1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

The question I ask myself today is:

Where do you store the commandments of GOD?

JESUS in HIS infinite WISDOM gave us a brain as a living hard drive to the body and life we live. Somehow, beyond my understanding we are able to remember certain things in life and apply them to our daily lifestyle.

The Proverb today indicates that we should in fact live our lives to the level of commitment that we KEEP his WORDS and COMMANDMENTS and value them as precious FRUIT.

Bind them on the finger indicates that we should outwardly express HIS COMMANDMENTS and make them VISIBLE for all the world to see

    and

Write them on the table of our heart so the HIS COMMANDMENTS will affect every decision we make.

We make time, room and place for what we value, this is why we must allow our LOVE for the COMMANDMENTS of GOD to rise and resinate in our lives that we may keep them at all times.

  13. 1 My son, keep my words and treasure my commandments within you [so they are readily available to guide you]. (AMP)

In other words, don’t let the wisdom and instruction you receive just go in one ear and out the other. Instead, take hold of it. Knowledge is like the toolbelt of your mind, everything you learn is like a new tool that you can use later on as needed. It’s up to us though to grab it and secure it within the belts ofor our mind and our hearts.

  14. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
Seek Gods face and obey and you will be the apple to Gods e.g.
I bless you in the name of the Lord

  15. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

As a young man this chapter meant so much to me as I strove to keep my purity until marriage. This chapter really gives wise warnings to men about how subtile the enemy is and how they will try anything to take down a man. We must guard ourselves and watch our backs to make sure we do not fall victim to the strange woman.

  16. Josiah:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
People treasure many things in their hearts, but if the word of the Lord is not there then people strive in vain. God is the only one who can get us to heaven. God wants less from us than this world does, but many people get wrapped up in and choose the world. What the world offers is temporal. What God offers is also eternal. Jesus chose to die on the cross and wants a relationship with us! When God is on our side we can get blessed, guided, directed, saved, and privileged to GO through trials and get closer to God. We may be the only example a person ever gets so let’s be on fire for God. Let us GO BE A CITY SET ON A HILL shedding light into this world!

  17. Proverbs 7
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips
    she forced him.

Young and old . Men and women we must guard our hearts from any snare the enemy tries to use. Fair speech wooing words caused him to fall. We have to stay close to God. We have to keep our lives in the word daily and communion with God continually.

    His Strength is Perfect

  18. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Keep Jesus number one and My first priority, and I win, take my focus off of Him just once and I have to get up and dust off and go at it again, I liken it to riding a horse for the first time bare back, you might fall off, but the important thing is to get up and get back on, because you wont learn how to ride it if you stay on the ground! So if I find my self fallen, I have to get up and repent and do it all over and soon I will see that Im on my feet more than I am on the ground! Thank you Jesus for your word, Thank you for this blog!

  19. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

The writer gives us 2 ways to remember the law and commandments. One is visually “bind them upon thy fingers” or put the word of God before your eyes and read it. The other is to write them on your heart or to remember what you have read. While in college, one professor instructed us to use all the brain centers to study and learn:
1 visual, or reading 2 write notes on the most important things and 3 recall them from memory, repeat. The same principle is given in scripture. Keeping Gods ways fresh in our hearts goes a long way to keep us from the ways of this sinful world.

  20. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

  21. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

She is dangerous. This world will give you enticing things, but are only poisened and will tear you down to the very lows of lows. Her paths are golden, but are corrupted by sin. My path is in Jesus Christ!

  22. “Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭7:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If it is written in your heart, it cannot be taken away from you! Even if someone tries to come and tell you “you don’t have to do all of that to be saved” because you have written His commandments in your heart, you know the truth and they will not be able to deceive you!

  23. “So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭7:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It is not just the weak men who fall, but strong men in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong thoughts for the wrong reasons. A wise heart would not fall into this trap. This is just a warning to stay away from this evil. You would have to decline to get to her because she is corrupted by sin.

  24. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Man what a wake up call. To know that God will lessen His voice to me should I not keep His commandments. God is awesome at showing correction just through His word alone. To bind His commandments is to bring forth eternal life:

Bind: 1. To tie together, or confine with a cord, or anything that is flexible; to fasten as with a band, fillet or ligature.
    2. To, inwrap or involve; to confine by a wrapper, cover or bandage; sometimes with up; as, to bind up a wound.

So I need to not only bind them upon thy finger, but I need to wrap myself in God’s word. This is where I have my battle; not just doing the blog, but stepping into the word of God. To read His word beyond the blog and beyond church. So my prayer is for God to establish in my mind to read the word more and study the word for understanding and wisdom of the kingdom.

24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

Listen to show that you want God to be with you eternally. Thank you Jesus for lifting me up when I fall. Thank you for being my ultimate teacher and counselor.
    SO GO: STUDY THE WORD!!

Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  25. I LOVE TO WORSHIP THE LORD!
A Detailed Description Of The Seduction Of The Naïve Man By The ‘Strange Woman.’ (Prov. 7:6-23)
This account divides up into three, what the father observes of the naïve young man’s actions (Prov. 7:6-13), what the strange woman says to the naïve young man (Prov. 7:14-20), and the resulting response of the young man (Prov. 7:21-23). It is presented chiastically.

  26. 1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Because many don’t keep the commandments of God, they fall and never get up again. I have seen so many people leave God because of many reasons but I don’t understand or want to understand why people want to live away from God. The devil is working over time but I can’t let that happen!! Many times our prayers is the only thing keep the souls from death. I don’t want to spend a second without God! I can’t do nothing on my own!! I pray that there be a great hunger for God in these last days!! #Revival

  27. A strong affirmation of an old testament commandment that is oft derided by the world: ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery.’ In fact, the proverb really speaks as much against fornication as any of the admonitions of Paul. The world does not like to hear about prohibitions, they’d prefer the church remain silent in so many areas, and yet these bounds were given for a purpose. That purpose is just as valid today, both for our spiritual walk as well as general principles of living together in a civilized society. It isn’t just old fashioned morality, he declares ‘Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.’

Too often today, people want to feel they’ve grown beyond such basic principles, and yet notice the warning: ‘Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.’ He didn’t say it was only the weak that were led astray… even strong men have been slain. That is what guidelines are for: they provide bounds that everyone agrees are safe. It doesn’t matter how close you can get to the cliff, if you stay behind the fence to begin with you don’t even have to worry about the tragedy involved in the fall.

It all comes down to desire. What do we truly desire? Another of those oh so unpopular commandments declared ‘Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.’ This principle can be applied will beyond just your neighbor however. It’s a good start to control the urges of covetousness but once the sin is addressed, where is your desire going to focus upon? Keep my commandments and live! Allow his commandments to be the training wheels to instruct our heart to desire and love the things that he loves!

  28. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

I pray that I remain on the straight and narrow path that leads to salvation. That I walk in the path that God wants me to walk and not be led aside into paths that others or my flesh would want me to walk. But that I continuely walk in the way of righteousness.

  29. 25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

    Be careful of your surroundings.

As a young man, this world has many enticing things. Things that look good and feel good. But are they good? Drugs feel good, for a season. Alcohol dulls the pain for a time. Lying, you get away with it for a moment. But although you get to do those things are they good for your soul? Food is good to eat, yet to much and your body suffers. To much sugar, you become diabetic, to much salt and your blood pressure goes high.
Yes this world has many wonderful things to do in it. Yet at what cost are those things worth doing. Some its monetary, others its your soul. Make sure the price your are paying is what you are willing to let go of.
We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We must understand that it’s by His grace and mercy that we are saved.
    #GODOSOMETHING by staying safe.

  30. 3Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.

We all do something to help us remember to do an erran, pay a bill, remember a name, or buy something. Usually we’ll forget to do the erran, and remember the next day. If we are obedient, God’s commands will be easy to keep.

  31. 22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

This world is as a harlot, enticing people to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. However, those who seek wisdom and understanding will see that the picture painted of “good times” never ends that way. Most of the time it ends in addictions and death. The Bible specifically declares, “the wages of sin is death.” There’s no escaping that principle. It may look like someone is missing out on pleasures now, but not really. When you truly fall in love with Jesus the enticement for the world fades into the background, but you can see through the now, to the then.

  32. 1-3 Dear friend, do what I tell you; treasure my careful instructions. Do what I say and you’ll live well. My teaching is as precious as your eyesight—guard it! Write it out on the back of your hands; etch it on the chambers of your heart.

God I keep your word in my heart! As you guard me from my enemies I’ll guard your word in my heart and continuously follow after you and only you!

  33. Proverbios 7:1 al 3 Obedece mis palabras, hijo mío;
guarda en tu mente mis mandamientos.
    Obedece mis mandamientos y enseñanzas;
cuídalos como a las niñas de tus ojos, y vivirás
    Átalos a tus dedos,
    grábatelos en la mente.

  34. Proverbs 7:2 (English Amp) Keep my commandments and keep my law and teaching as the Apple ( the pupil) of your eye. (3) Bind them on the tablet of your heart. To keep his commandments and live , Let God commandments guide you and teach you. And surely be obedient . Always repent for your sins everyday.

  35. Without direction or goals an empty life is open to many temptations. The man did not know where he was going, but the adulteress knows exactly where she wants him.

  36. 7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding.

It’s a dangerous thing to be a youth in this hour and not have godly understanding and wisdom. This is why it’s so important to teach up a child so when they grow up they won’t depart from it (Prov 22:6). If this young man would have had better understand, knowledge or wisdom he would not have been sneaking around in the darkness. It’s like trying to find a meal in a trash can, you might find a sliver of something edible but mostly rotten. Loving God means respecting our temple and others. I think of Potiphar’s wife who tried to entice Joseph but though he was young he was wise enough to not be enticed by this wicked woman. His righteous act may have landed him in jail because of her lies but it got him closer to God’s plan for his life. We can be stupid and rebel like the young man here and regret later, or repent and rejoice like Joseph did. One choice leads to sin and death and the other to eternal life. You choose.

  37. You must be careful and watch out for the strange woman. She will deceive you and before you know you’re all tangled up in her web if lies. God gives us wisdom to avoid situations that will cause ua to fall. Don’t ignore wise words because in the end those words will save your life.

  38. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.(Proverbs 7:2 KJV)

If we stay focused walking on the striaght and narrow path in our relationship with God then following his commandments will be a delightful task. When we serve God with a willing and servantlike heart he will bless us. Keeping God first makes Him and everything about him the apple of our eye.

  39. Hannah: “1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. 3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.” Keep the ways of the Lord and do not let the temptations of the world destroy you. One temptation always leads to another so it is better to not yeild to the first temptation because before you know it you are lost and you can’t hear the voice of the Lord. It is always better to keep the Lord’s ways and continue to grow spiritually in him. He can always bless you and bring you further than you ever imagined you would be. In my life it is my desire to always continue to strive to be as close to the Lord as I can get. You can always continue to grow closer to the Lord and there is no limit to how close you can know the Lord. Go in the ways of the Lord!

  40. 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

The grass on the other side isn’t always green. Look at the big picture on the other side because the enemy is deceitful he’ll make it look sunny when in reality it’s darkness.

  41. 2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart

Everthing choice that you make now will either make or break your future. Keep the laws of the lord always obey his comands and live a righteous and holy life.

  42. 1.My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

sometimes we think, “wow is that necessary?” how do you think that Noah felt about building a boat for every animal, their food, and his family, when it had never rained before????

  43. Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.
    Proverbs 7:1‭-‬2 NLT

Listen to those that give you counsel. Obey the warnings and instruction. Don’t be to proud to think you know it all. Allow God to lead you guarding his word and being a doer of the Word not just a hearer

  44. “awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭7:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I do believe that if we knew the outcome of our choices, we wouldn’t make the same choices. However, the scripture informs us if we stray from the path of righteousness and venture down the path of sin it will lead to death. So why do we travel down the path of unrighteousness expecting a different outcome.

I pray we will continue on the path of the righteousness that leads to blessings.

  45. 23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

Sin will cost you your life.

  46. 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

One of the reasons why we stress outward holiness is this. The attire that we wear can brand us to those around us.

It would be like if I would go out on the streets wearing a cops uniform. It would be ignorant of me to get offended if people were to ask for my assistance.

Does it matter what you wear? If your wearing a cops uniform, you will be mistaken as a cop, just like if you are wearing a harlots uniform, don’t be offended when you treated as such.

15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
