Proverbs 16

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

11 A just weight and balance are the Lord‘s: all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.

  1. 1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

We must be watchful that the Lord weigh our hearts each day. Our hearts can easily be deceived into believing we are on the right track and in reality we couldn’t be further. This is why we cannot trust our thoughts or feelings but every thing that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Letting his word be established inside of us to direct us. We can justify ourselves and not see our faults at any point. We should be watchful for these times that we not fall from the will of God

  2. Verse 20 MSG “It pays to take life seriously; things work out when you trust in God.” Same verse AMP “He who pays attention to the word [of God] will find good, And blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who trusts [confidently] in the Lord.” Same verse NLT “Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.” We must listen, trust and respond in the Lord as verse 3 MSG says “Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.” Same verse AMP “Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].”

  3. 2 All the ways of a man are clean and innocent in his own eyes [and he may see nothing wrong with his actions], but the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents [of the heart and knows the truth].
3 Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], and your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. (AMP)

It’s important we seek Godly counsel in every decision of life. Verse 9 says a man will direct his way but the Lord will direct his steps. God knows the desires of our hearts and wants to see us prosper, he will however, insure His will is accomplished and guide our steps. You may say I’m here now and God this is the next point I’d like to be at; it’s then you must trust Him to guide every step you take. He will get you from point A to point B, but you have to trust He will lead you on the best path.

  4. Proverbs 16:32Amplified Bible (AMP)

32 He who is slow to anger is better and more honorable than the mighty [soldier], And he who rules and controls his own spirit, than he who captures a city.

ruleth a : the exercise of authority or control : dominion

We must exercise authority over our “human” spirit so that we can have dominion in the Spirit. If our human spirit offends, then people are hard to win because of the result of our flesh ruling our spirit. However, if we can keep our human spirit under control, the Spirit of God can reign in our lives and we can be the light Jesus intended us to be.

  5. 1 People go about making their plans, but the Eternal has the final word.

3 Whatever you do, do it as service to Him, and He will guarantee your success.

9 People do their best making plans for their lives, but the Eternal guides each step. Voice

If we could learn to ask what His plans are before we make our own plans, we would find more success and less trouble and do-overs.

  6. THE PATH TO PEACE – THE KINGDOM OF GOD

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

There is a message in every verse of this chapter. I choose verse 7 due to the volatile condition of our world today. Corruption has created chaos and conflict has challenged PEACE.

Today is the day for the church to RISE; speak and present the Kingdom of GOD to a darkened and lost world. The Kingdom of GOD is PEACE and this is why GOD makes even enemies to be at peace when we HIS Kingdom comes.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Remember the Kingdom of this world is about conflict and fighting.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Rise and PRAY. Be a PEACE speaker and a PEACE maker as we share the Gospel of the Kingdom of GOD today.

  7. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established

I beleive that if I get to the point that I am doing everything right, I will no longer need God because I will be perfect, but not so, only Jesus is perfect,

    Weigheth= is a verb takan ( taw-kan’ Hebrew )
a primitive root; to balance, i.e measure out ( by weight or dimension); figuratively, arrange, equalize, through the idea of levelling (ment. estimate, test ):–bear up, direct, be ((un-))equal, mete, ponder, tell, weigh.

God knows our heart, we cant tell what is in our heart because if we could this would be so easy! And its not hard it takes discipline, God weighs our spirit out of the definition I saw the word direct and was like yes that sounds about right! The Lord directs our spirit but its up to us to follow His DIRECTION! And only then can we commit our works to Him and our thoughts will be established

    Established=Kuwn ( koon-Hebrew)

To be firm, to be stable, be established
    a. (Niphal)
    1. to b set up, be established, be fixed
    b. to be firmly established
    C. To be established, be stable, be secure, be enduring
    D. to be fixed,be securely determined,
    1. to be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast (moral sense)
    2. to prepare, be ready

  8. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
    Proverbs 16:18‭-‬19 KJV
    http://bible.com/1/pro.16.18-19.KJV

Pride; one if the seven deadly sins and the most predominant in today’s world. All it takes is saying or doing the right thing to get somebody puffed up. This was one of my biggest issues; I was so prideful that I blinded myself to God and His word. That pillar got so high in my mind that nothing was going to tear it down. Then my heart got knocked upon. It took a while to bust that stinky old pillar down. And let me tell you: it was a long fall. I don’t know how I got so prideful, but I am thankful that God has given me such a lovely wife. She will remind me when sees me becoming prideful. I honestly believe that pride leads to all other sin. Be wise to not let this become the rule over you. It can and will destroy your heart. It is better to be humble with the lowly, than to share the spoils with the proud.

A wise person gets known for insight; gracious words add to one’s reputation. True intelligence is a spring of fresh water, while fools sweat it out the hard way.

  9. We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Commit your actions to the Lord , and your plans will succeed. We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
    Proverbs 16:1‭-‬3‭, ‬9 NLT
The Lord determine our step this chapter tell if you in the will of the Lord you plan will be successful and God will be with you every step of the way but if you in flesh and you trying to make your own way then most likely your plan will fade why cuz God not in it and with out God we are nothing
Just like Noah God will give us answers and directions to help us and guide us

  10. Proverbs 16

1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

The heart such a small part of the body but with the largest function. If the heart is not healthy then the body does not function to its greatest capacity. So is it with our spiritual heart. We must continue in keeping it submitted daily. We may look good on the outside but have an awful deceitful heart on the inside. Only Gid sees the heart He already knows the spirit we carry. So we must come before Him asking Him to search us and know assured we can live holy and accepted before Himcreate in me a clean heart oh Lord search my life daily. Let my spirit be covered by your Spirit.

The Joy of the Lord is my Strength

  11. “We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. The Lord has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster. The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished. Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil. When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:1-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  12. 4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

  13. “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. The Lord has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It tells us that we must totally commit ourselves in both total trust and submission to the will of God. He will fulfill your righteous plans.

God made everything good. God did not make evil. Man has a free will and some choose to be evil, but God did not want them to being evil. It is God’s wish that all would come to the knowledge of God and be saved in Jesus Christ, but some will not accept salvation in Jesus.

  14. iLove to Go Blog
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

How does one excape iniquity? The Word says by mercy and truth iniquity is purged.

If we really want to be pure, we have to be honest. Those who tell stories are full of iniquity. Wow

  15. Proverbs 16:2 (AMP)
“All the ways of man are clean and innocent in his own eyes (and he may see nothing wrong with his actions), but the LORD weighs and examines the motives and intents (of the heart and knows the truth.)”

This made me think of Bro. David Smith and what he says during our Repentance Prayer… LORD forgive me of everything I’ve said, of everything I’ve thought, of everything I’ve done, and things I don’t even realize I’ve done…
There are times when we say things, think things, or do things, and we don’t think twice about it because we didn’t see any harm in it. It seems innocent enough. BUT how does the LORD weigh the things we say, think, or do? He knows the motives and intents and the truth behind everything we say, think, or do.

So today let this be your prayer – Psalms 139:23-24
    23) Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
    24) And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

  16. 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Their is an old saying that “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. Like this proverb we might think that we are doing the right thing out of our own understanding but it’s better to submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Trusting in God means sometimes I am not going to understand what he’s doing but I’m going to keep walking in his ways. Submission is knowing who is leading me and where I’m going is to be used for his glory.

  17. Josiah: 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
First we have to please God. Notice how the verse says “WHEN a man’s ways please the Lord,” We can not truly overcome it God is not standing up for us. When our ways do please God and we have first been right with Him. Then God can make even our enemies be at peace with us. First we have to make our ways please Jesus. When we put God first. When we make sure we are GOing where God wants us to GO. When we make sure we are doing what God wants is to do our lives can be so much more blessed. Mathew 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” So, let us GO PUT GOD FIRST and praise Him just because of who He is!

  18. 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Where is the Glory when pride is in the heart? Are you lifting up God or are you lifting up yourself. There’s always gonna be moments for correction when it comes to pride. If we follow this scripture it says here that it’s an abomination to the Lord is that really what you want? Practice humility, Jesus himself was humiliated, spit on, beaten, and hung on a cross for you and I? So remember where the Glory should be and keep yourself in line.
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus

  19. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

We must control our spirits and not allow anger to control us. If we are to be a effective witness and example as leaders we must know how to rule our spirits and control our temper. If we’re really serious about winning our city and our world we must be serious about ruling our spirit.

  20. 18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Having wisdom and trusting in God and his ways leads us down blessed paths. It isn’t the gain of riches, rather the gain and application of wisdom.

  21. Proverbios 16:1-2 Del hombre son las disposiciones del corazón;
Mas de Jehová es la respuesta de la lengua.
    Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios en su propia opinión;
    Pero Jehová pesa los espíritus.

  22. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Sometimes it is easier to take down a whole city than it is to control yourself. You will get plenty of opportunity from the world we live in to get mad and loose your cool. The only one in the entire world that can control that is you. God won’t even step into that mess. Life gives us plenty of chances to perfect this practice although non will ever get it perfected. The point is to do everything on your power to be Jesus even to those who would cause you to loose it. When you do everything you can, God will do the rest.

  23. 5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

    Proverbs 6:16-19King James Version (KJV)
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Sometimes I think we try catergorize what sins are more sinful.
While we are trying our best to stay away from the big sins, we havent been doing too great when it comes to having pride and looking down on others. Well its not just a sin its an abomination and the lord hates it!

  24. 3. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. 4. The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Thank you Jesus for saving me.

  25. 7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

You want go have peace? Focus on pleasing the Lord, obeying his commandments, and his statutes and precepts in His Word. Focus on pleasing God that He will protect and bring you peace.

  26. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.(Proverbs 16:21 KJV)

God puts all different kinds of people in our lives for a reason to test us for him to see how we approach the problem. Eventually God will show us our mistakes and our consequences how we handled the problem in our worldly flesh way. We also will be showed how to be humble and loving in his ways and to be faithful and righteous in our walk with him.

  27. “A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.”
    ‭‭Proverbs 16:11

    That’s not fair!

Whose job is it to say if something is fair or not? Well, as children we would side with ourselves and say things are not fair. Sometimes it still happens as adults. Looking for others we might be skewed by relationships. That is why God holds the balance and says what is fair. That is why God is the one who gives rewards/punishments for what goes on. I’m glad he does because his ways are not my ways and his thoughts are higher than mine. He sees more and knows the expected end. Thank you Jesus for knowing what is fair all the time.

  28. 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

This is so true!!! If we would follow what our heart desired it would deceive us. Following our heart will lead in the wrong direction. We can’t let our heart lead us but God lead us!!! With God we can’t fail!! But if we follow our own desires we will fail again and again!!! Jesus direct my steps and help me breakthrough every barrier that wants to come my way in doing your will!!!

9 “The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

  29. 17 “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.”
18 “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
19 “Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.”

Having to much pride in ourselves is what can hurt us the most. When we follow in Gods path he will keep us safe! God is always with us through the ups and downs.

  30. 3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

My God is a prayer answering God! What is established with your words is what you will speak about, think about, and want about. There is power of life and death in the tounge. Don’t sit there and say “I lost I just mise well go and backslide it’s too hard.” That’s the worst thing you could do, because right there you “spoke” it into your own life. Prophesy to yourself that life is gonna get better and you are not “down and out” your are kings child.

  31. 2-3 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Most of the time, we believe our actions are justified. Sometimes, we willfully will do things that we know are wrong, sinful or illegal but we justify our actions within our minds. If we are late for something we might drive in excess of the posted speed, we may not come to a full and complete stop at a stop sign or traffic light. We are late – we need to make up time – justification. However, if a law enforcement officer witnesses us, they likely will not agree that we were justified in our actions.

The Lord works in the same manner. There is not enough money to go around this week. We may decide withhold our tithes to purchase groceries. We know that it is wrong but feel justified that God would not want us to go hungry. After all, He knows what we have need of – more money. If God would only give me more money, I would be able to pay tithes. Could it be, we are living beyond our means? Maybe we did not need the latest cell phone, iPad or computer. Maybe we did not need to eat at the restaurant and we should have gone home and ate cereal.

As with most things related to God’s kingdom, if we keep Him and His kingdom first on our minds, everything else seems to fall into place without issue.

  32. 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

Many people feel they want to be control of their own destiny to plan ut what they are going to do in life. But we need to God direct the steps and follow him on where he wants us to go.

  33. Proverbs 16:24 (English Amp) Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body. Staying positive, Thinking postive , Having a right mind. Pray and think before you talk. DONT speak NEGATIVE about anyone.

  34. 32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.

I can see how the flesh would get in the way of having peace. Often times I come across Situations where Favorites are chosen over others. God is fair and wants humility to set into genuine hearts. He has the power to turn any situation around to his glory. We should be lifting up our bro and sisters in Christ. God knows exactly what he has planned for us we are the vessell he can use.

The anger toward those who get in the flesh is not of God. If your attacked by the enemy and the anger sets in because it’s taken you by surprise rest assured that God doesn’t take it lightly. That attacker that can’t see happiness and joy in those who are shining for God he will face death because God hates evil. Thank you Lord for your protection and unconditional love for the righteous.

  35. 2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

May God find my spirit good and all my works committed to him that I may be established continually and hear well done.

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

I wonder if this also applies to a country or party. Because we are seeing less and less peace between parties of our nation and with other nations. And our nation and parties are becoming less and less pleasing to God in their ways, thoughts and intents. May our Leaders and their followers make their ways pleasing to God so we can see peace.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

May I have nether, so I may stand
