Proverbs 17

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.

16 Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?

17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.

19 He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.

21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.

22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.

24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

  1. Be careful what type of spirit are you letting in your house
If you repay good with evil, evil will never leave your house. The wicked take secret bribes to pervert the course of justice. A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered.
    Proverbs 17:13‭, ‬23‭-‬23‭, ‬27 NLT

  2. 9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Reading this i am reminded of the beginning of Luke 17, “1Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!  … 4And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.”

Throughout life there is always going to be an occasion in which someone will do or say something that is hurtful to us. Yet as we learn as young children that we shouldn’t retaliate or get mad,  but rather forgive them; keep on showing the goodness of Christ. By doing this we do what this very proverb is saying, we cover the transgression. When we cover it, you can’t see it, you don’t talk about it etc. By doing this you show the transgressor, that yes although that may have hurt, it doesn’t matter because I’m still going to show you the love of Christ. I’m not going to keep talking about it, because that only causes more strife. As an adult I can still take this to heart, and be sure that as I continue through life, no matter what may happen, I can still forgive and show the love of Christ to everyone! It is the love of Christ that saved me and kept me, so I need to be sure I show this same love of God to everyone! Praise the Lord! for His mercy endureth forever!

  3. 14 Picking a fight is like leaking water from a crack in a dam, so walk away from an argument before the outburst. Voice

Even if your argument in valid, you could get swept downstream in the outburst; and if you manage not to drown in the process, your witness could still be ‘washed up’.

  4. 4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue

Don’t listen to Gossip. Gossip is only there to tear you down and mark you as someone they can tell all there good insights too. When you give ear to someone who talks about another they will come back and back and back to just fill you ear with filth. Gossip is not of the lord, but of this world. Thank you Jesus

  5. GO IN LOVE

17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Love is a verb or “action” word. When we consider the aspect of LOVE demonstrated we see the CROSS and death of JESUS.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

JESUS demonstrated HIS eternal love for man when he gave HIS life on the CROSS. There is not a moment in time in any life that JESUS does not LOVE us. HE established HIS friendship to us when he died on the CROSS. In return of HIS love, we also should lay down our will for HIS will to be fulfilled in and through us as we demonstrate our friendship to HIM.

  6. 20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones

They say laughter is the best medicine and science has proven that laughter enables the heart to function better and bring oxygen to the body and overall helps the body in general. It relieves stress and muscle tension. The word says that the joy of the Lord is our strength… There is no reason for apostolics to not be he happiest people in the world. We have every reason to be joyful and lively in our heart and full of peace.

  7. A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.
    Proverbs 17:10 NLT
Jesus, keep us as people of understanding, LORD. Let’s us keep our eyes locked on wisdom as we go into the fields to work.

  8. “The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭
We use to go to the railroad tracks and get some old spikes to shape the metal into knives and stuff with a homemade forge. When you forge metal you have to get the fire going really hot, it helps if you can feed some sort of air flow through the flame. Once the metal is glowing really hot you can shape it with a hammer and an anvil. I try to allow God to do the same with me, I want that fire to get really hot so he can shape me and mold me however he wants. Now when the fire gets hot life gets a little harder. That’s when the molding takes place. That’s when you’re relationship with God begins to grow a little more. If you’re gonna step over this stepping stone in your life or if you’re gonna let it stop you completely.
When trouble come your way it’s because the fire is getting hot and God is forming you into what needs to be forged. So don’t stop when it starts getting a little difficult. Pray through, Break through, go through the walls with a purpose obey the voice of God and TRUST him. Go be Blessed.
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus

  9. A single rebuke does more for a person
of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.
    Proverbs 17:10 NLT

  10. 9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

27 A Man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

  11. 9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

When I read this verse, I started to think about when me and Joe started coming to POFW, he had yet to get the Holy Ghost and so if he made a mistake or something of that nature, I would put him on blast and make jokes at his expense! Now its different, when you love someone you dont shine their faults for the world to see be it a friend or a spouse, sibling or family member, you cover it with prayer, Sister Watts told me to pray according to his strengths and pray for his weak areas as though he is strong in them! And telling everyone who would listen didn’t help, because its gossip, and it made him feel discouraged and upset, like “why would you say that” and we would argue! Gossip caused division in our home, and in our marriage!
    Prov 10:19
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
Thank you Jesus I listened to Sister Watts and prayer, I can build up my husband with encouragement, and focus on his strengths and not his weaknesses

  12. 17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

What does it take to be called a friend? Pastor teaches us to have friends one must present themselves friendly. I believe a true friend requires a deeper relationship than this; of course we have to start somewhere. A friend that is going to love at all times is one who is truly invested in the other person. It is generally displayed in spouses. The relationship may have started out with a more physical connection rather than emotional but if God is the center of their lives a friendship is born.

I do not have siblings so the point that a sibling relationship is born for adversity seems odd to me. From the surface it would seem that brothers and sisters should have some of the closest relationships outside of spouses but that is not the case. Having two daughters has proven that point. I still cannot understand why siblings fight as they do. Again, not have a sibling, I can only observe and relate what I have learned from the outside looking in.

Love among siblings should be a natural thing, and the Bible uses such phileo love as an illustration of love among believers. Unfortunately, not all siblings express love for one another. Many of the famous sibling groups previously mentioned are known for their interpersonal conflict and even hatred for each other. Issues between Cain and Able, Jacobs and Esau, Joseph and his brothers even between sisters Martha and Mary.

So what are parents to do? It’s important to understand that conflict between siblings is not part of God’s plan for the family. We are to love others in a way that reflects the agape love of Christ. We are to show kindness to each other, treating those around us the way we want to be treated. Finally, Paul teaches to live at peace with everyone in Romans 12.

  13. Proverbs 17:9
“He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.”

When you truly forgive someone, you forget about it. You can go on and love and have a friendship with that person. BUT when you don’t forgive, and you go around repeating the matter, you seperate yourself from that person and can’t have a friendship with them.

  14. 22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. (NLT)

This is a good way to know if someone’s being a beneficial friend. A friend should be encouraging and contagious with their joy, not discouraging or hurtful. What kind of friends do you have and what kind of friend are you being? As people of God we should be giving virtue and lifting people up. Be a loyal and cheerful friend! 🙂

  15. 10 A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding
than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.

Growing up I can remember when Tiffany and I would decide to do something that was not the smartest idea and would require correction. Tiffany would cry simply because she had disappointed our parents, my stubborn self, on the other hand, seemed to always take it to the next level.

However, as we mature not only in this world but spiritually, the way we are corrected changes. Putting a 21yr old in time out is not going to correct the undesired behavior. Yet, for some 21yr old the simple fact of disappointing someone they respect and admire is enough to correct that behavior.

A simple word of correction will go straight to the heart of the matured.

  16. 17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

What kind of friend are you? There is a huge difference between knowing someone well and being a true friend. The greatest evidence of a true friend is loyalty. Meaning you stick around in the times of sorrow and distress, not just when it’s convenient for you! We need to be the kind of friend the Bible describes and love at ALL times! To show that love means when they’re spiritually low, you’re there to help them up, and when they’re rejoicing you’re rejoicing with them!

  17. 21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.

22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

When I see this scripture I think of the passage in Ezekiel when it talks about the dry bones

Ezekiel 37:4-5 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones and say unto them, o ye dry dry bones, hear the words of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord unto these dry bones; Behold I will cause breath to enter into you and ye shall live.

During the time of Ezekiel, Israel was going through a rough time and they were disobeying God and his commendments. I think I can see the people of Israel had some broken spirits which caused their bones to dry. But these broken spirits are in direct correlation of them disobeying God and turning away from him. So is this coincidence? I don’t think it is. So it stands to reason the disobeying God and turning away from God causes us to have broken spirits.

On the flip side, God is the only one who can heal our broken spirits and he can cause our dry bones to come alive. So from this, it looks like turning to God is the cure for dry bones which causes the exact opposite of a broken spirit; which is a merry heart!

So if you feel broken today, turn to God and draw closer to him, he can give you a merry heart which is the medicine to the dry bones that you have in your life!

  18. Verse 3 CEV “Silver and gold are tested by flames of fire; our thoughts are tested by the Lord.” Same verse TLB “Silver and gold are purified by fire, but God purifies hearts.” Same verse MSG “As silver in a crucible and gold in a pan, so our lives are assayed by God.”

assayed: determine the content or quality of, examination and determination as to characteristics, to analyze for one or more specific components, to judge the worth of, to test something to find out what it contains.

Psalm 26:2 MSG “Examine me, God, from head to foot, order your battery of tests. Make sure I’m fit inside and out”. Psalm 139:23-24 MSG “Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—then guide me on the road to eternal life.”

  19. 17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

When we have friends they are there to love us and for us to show love to them. There is no greater love than the love of Jesus and he showed that by dying for us. We should also extend our love to our fellow brothers and sisters like Jesus did for us.

  20. Let no unwise thing come from my mouth or any words to harm anyone. Keep positive things and helpful words on my Mind oh Lord.

  21. Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

A true friend has unquenchable love that is not diminished by adversity.

17:28 Even a fool, when he holds the his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutters his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Job 13:5 O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

  22. Josiah: 27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
When we choose to hold our peace we can be counted wise. When we close our lips people can think that we have understanding. Yes, when the fool chooses to shut their lips they may not have much understanding besides closing their lips, but when they do and open their ears they can get understanding. If we want to have an excellent spirit all we can open our ears and close our mouth. Then we can have an excellent spirit when we get understanding because the Bible says “a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.” So, let us GO WITH OPEN EARS that we may get understanding and have an excellent spirit.

  23. Instead of being a fool keep your mouth closed if you have nothing Worth to say and listen and when you have something worth to say it’ll be cause you kept your mouth closed and listened

  24. 27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Very wise words to take to heart that are contrary to what is considered socially acceptable today. How many times do we see people talking just to hear themselves talk,or cutting someone off just so that they can ‘speak their mind’.
So many times these foolish words cause more strife, grief, sorrow and create enemies rather than friends.
God gave us two ears and one mouth. If we listen twice as much as we speak; we would grow in wisdom and understanding. We would be a blessing to all those we encounter rather than just another prattling and empty voice void of any remblance of understanding.

  25. 22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

    The Health of the People

If you have ever lost someone close to you, you know that it can be painful, literally. And when you are happy, you feel Alive. There have been many studies into this. And the studies have come back that this is a true statement. A happy person will live longer than a sad person. So BE HAPPY, it’s the healthiest way to live. When I was a young person, when my dad pasted away, I had to find my joy. Because that grief of lost was unbearable. It was consuming me inside. I felt as though I too was dying, and to a certain point I was. The physicalness of grief is real. It’s very painful.
I had to find my joy, my peace. I found in Jesus. during many prayer times, I would get in a corner and just weep before God. And it was those times that I felt God take me in his arms and hold me. I got my Peace and Joy Back. I am now Happy Again thanks to Jesus. Turn to him and know that he is God. And that he will take care of you.

#GODOSOMETHING by Being Happy and Healthy

1 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

Peace and quiet go along way in life. Peace is better than prosperity and quietness is better than giving great sacrifices. I would rather have peace than all this world could ever offer. Peace is a state of mind. One can have peace when everything else in this world is falling apart.

  27. 10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

  28. Proverbs 17:17(English Amp) A friend loves at a times, and is born , as is brother, for adversity. There’s know better love than God’s love, He sent his son to died on the cross for our sins. All ways forgive your friends , family , Your brothers and sisters, So that God will forgive you. Nothing like having love and peace of the Lord. There so must hate in this world, That we should praying for God’s peace. It better to love your brother or sister or your neighbors like God does.

  29. 28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

To many words can get one in trouble. We should always listen more than we speak specially if we are not asked for an opinion.

  30. “It is senseless to pay to educate a fool, since he has no heart for learning. A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Even wealth cannot buy wisdom for those who do not love it.

A true friend is a constant source of love, while a brother in one’s family may not be close, but is drawn near to help in trouble. Friends are closer than brother’s because they are available all the time, not just in a bind. A true friend will not leave you when you are in trouble but will stand beside you through it all. Pick friends that will help you keep moving up the narrow path and not friends that will fill your life with set backs. 🤷🏽‍♂️

  31. 20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.

There are so many cold hearted people in the world today. If they could only see the damage they cause; with how they act or speak. I believe that the foolish shall be left to themselves. The only thing with that is : there is always somebody that will listen to the fool. What if we all put our foolish ways behind us and started listening to the word of God. That little member is so volatile; it can give a blessing and curse at the same time. How do you chose to use your tongue; where is your heart at? I know that I struggle to not fall back into the ways of the world. This is my battle that is fought daily; and no the devil gets no reward when I stumble. I get back up dust myself off. A bull rider has 8 seconds to hold on, but what happens when he falls. He gets back up and does it again; until he gets that perfect ride. Anything that I do; I know I’m going to stumble and fall. It’s what I do after that; that matters.

27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Also understand that even in my foolish ways. I know when to shut up and listen. This is where I believe all people need to get to. Just hold your tongue and you might hear what God is trying to bring you out of. Thank you Jesus.

Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  32. 28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

    Man I love this verse!

It says it so eloquent and biblesque. You can’t get any better instruction. Some would say ” shut up fool” or ” you would look a lot smarter if you keep your mouth shut” very insulting in my words, the Bible does a much better job. Perfect.

  33. 5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Something that pastor Omar jolly said about the blind man sitting by the gate and something my dad said today he said sometimes you have to give people a chance and they might surprise you, Jesus gave the blind man a chance and the man ended up following Jesus. in my librarians words “don’t judge a book by its cover”
People can become amazing works of god.

  34. 13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

We walk a fine line between maintaining a relationship with someone who is doing evil by choice, and approving of their evil (sin). I am convicted about commenting in an approving manner when someone is boasting about something they accomplished that is outright sin, yet silence is also acceptance. This is where we must seek wisdom so that we don’t offend, we continue to love, and yet don’t reward their evil with approval.

  35. 17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Jesus is a great example for us to be too one another he never fails us. His love is unconditional and he later down his life for us so we won’t be lost. What a friend we have in Jesus!

  36. 17 Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.

God surround me with people that will stand in the hardships and blessings, who will praise and worship your name, and through it all help keep align with you! A families connection is by blood to which they stick together but friends you connect with on your own then have a choice to become and build that connection with each other.

  37. 28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

It is often ok to hold your peace. Some people take that quote “silence is acceptance” to a whole new level. Yet we should never take silence for acceptance or ignorance for a wise man can discern that his words will fall on bad ground. so he take his words to prayer and not to the ears of those that will ignorantly distort them in the eyes of others.

So do not judge a persons silence as the end of the matter because it could be the beginning moments of God stepping into the situation.

  38. Proverbios 17:1 Más vale comer pan duro donde hay concordia
que hacer banquete[a] donde hay discordia. 3 En el crisol se prueba la plata
y en el horno se prueba el oro,
pero al corazón lo prueba el Señor.

  39. 9 “He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.”

Gossiping gets you no where in life. Just like everyone says if you can’t say it to them than don’t say anything at all. Instead we should be bringing us all together by his word and reaching the lost. The more we focus on the souls out there the less we have time to have negative words come out of our mouths. The lost souls matter most to God.

  40. 4.A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. 5. Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. To God be the Glory !!!!

  41. 10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

A person of understanding sticks close to God and is full of conviction if they even think of doing something outside the will of God it will stop them. This is like the loyalty we value in relationships today. The enemy has tried to pervert this loyalty with openness to swing in all kinds of different directions. God is not the author of this confusion. That’s why we cant allow the things of this world to distract us. He wants to keep us on one straight and narrow path not turning to the left nor the right abstaining from evil. If we stick close enough to God and his principles then we can discern his ways and those of this world. God created the first two genders without anyones help and designed the first marriage without help from mankind either. You can beat a fool black and blue and they’ll never learn their lesson but if you correct a wise man he will be glad for it and repent and grow from it. This isn’t to say a fool cannot change, I walked into the church a fool but chose to walk wiser. So a fool can change only if he wants to, they have to want it. To realize I don’t want to die like this, like a fool but fear God and seek understanding.

  42. A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.(Proverbs 17:10 NLT)

We’ve all been guilty for having bad behaviors and the way we carry ourselves for our own actions. Sometimes there’s people that God puts in our lives to give us a taste of how hard life is in this world for us to grow our faith It’s not “pie in the sky by and by” but rather “steak on your plate while you wait.”Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. Mercy is not getting what we actually deserve.

  43. “He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Love covers where gossip divides. Next time something happens ask yourself, am I loving or gossiping? God is love. When we cover sin in love it’s not that we are saying the sin was good, but rather that we are showing the love of Christ through adversity. Why spread the gossip of thugs that happen? All that comes of that is the distraction of those around you and the trust of those you tell. Instead of building, you become a bulldozer destroying the lives of those around you (often the people you love).

  44. 26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

We serve a mighty God, he knows the intentions of the heart. Nothing is left unseen that God won’t judge. In faith I decree and declare that the enemy that’s running it’s mouth about lies to glory self is a fool in the flesh repent and seek God for he is good.

  45. 22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Let the joy of the Lord be in you! Let’s have a good spirit!

  46. 28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

“Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”-Mark Twain- he read his Bible!

3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

May the Lord try my heart continually, refine it as gold and silver with his fire. So that my heart will continualy be his and burn out any impurities that may arise. And be a heart he can use.

1 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

    Amen.

  47. 8 A bribe is like a lucky charm; whoever gives one will prosper!

Bribe–to dishonestly persuade someone to act in your favor, by giving a gift or money.

I can see how this is true. You tell yourself, I just gained something by offering money. But God warns us about bribes.

Exodus 23:8 Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.

  48. S4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
