Proverbs 24

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:

20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

  1. Verse 3 NKJV “Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;”. Same verse MSG “It takes wisdom to build a house, and understanding to set it on a firm foundation;”. Same verse AMP “Through [skillful and godly] wisdom a house [a life, a home, a family] is built, And by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation],”.

Matthew 7:24 NLT “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”

  2. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

For a JUST man falleth….not IF a man falleth, not SOME righteous men falleth, not occasionally a righteous man MAY falleth. The word doesn’t descibe any possibility or small percentage of men falling…but an absolute, that it is going to happen…but he gets back up. Therein lies the difference…a just man will get up and the wicked will fall into mischief.

5A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

This is why it is so important to read the Word of God and is why so many Christians are weak. Folks that read the Word of God gain wisdom and knowledge when they read it with an open mind and take it for what it says. This strengthens the mind and transforms it into the mind of Christ. Reading the Word conditions the mind, will, and emotions. Speaking in tongues strengthens the spirit of man, and fasting crucifies the flesh. We need all three in order to grow spiritually.

  4. Josiah: 1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
“a man of knowledge increaseth strength.” It is through serving God that we can get strong and, stronger. Verse 5 says “A wise man is strong;” Then it goes on to say how a man of knowledge increaseth strength. As we some of us GO back to school at different times we are going to get in contact with this world even more. There is pressure to be like them but, what are you going to do? The Bible says “1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.” Yes, we are supposed to be a light but, you should not want to be like them. Verse 2 says “For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.” It is through God that we can be established and be strong and, stronger. So, let us GO BE A CITY SET ON A HILL and be an example for kids at school! LET’S HAVE A FIRE BURNING FOR GOD!

  5. 17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

True story!!! I’m glad that I didn’t get glad!!! The vengeance of The LORD IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN ours!!!

  6. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

The old saying ” you gotta wortk to eat ” The same in our walk with God, we have to get out of bed, PRAY, READ, or we are going to be hungry, we will have nothing spiritually, we get out what we put in, if you only plant a small garden, you get a small amount of food, if you pray a little you get a little strength, a little time with the Lord, but if we make a whole acre or so of veggies we will eat good, but if we pray more and more and read, study more and more! Oh Jesus help me to not to sleep, help me to wake up and GO GROW in prayer in your word and in outreach! iblessyouinthenameoftheLord

  7. GO WORK

    30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

This Proverb could apply to various areas of our lives.

    1. The Harvest Field
    2. The Church
    3. The Home
    4. Our Family
    5. Our Finances
    6. Our Profession
    7. Our Ministry

The field of the slothful is unorganized, cluttered and unkept. Consider the fields of your life today. Are they cluttered and unorganized? Pray, Study and apply the instruction.

  8. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,. So shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  9. 3-4 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

“Good. Better. Best. Never let it rest… until your good is better and your better is best.” I cannot remember where I first heard this saying but it seems to apply to this verse. Wisdom, understanding and knowledge: Good, better and best. We desire to create a comfortable place to exist, whether at church, home or work. We desire to be productive. We desire to be useful. We desire to have nice things around us. We desire to enjoy life. As we work hard, we have to remember to be wise with the blessings we are given. A church, a ministry, a home, a family, a workshop or a business is not built in a day. We must plan wisely. We must understand where we are in life and what are next steps are. We can then apply knowledge to reach for the next level.

  10. 13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

    The Honeycomb

Some would never consider eating the honeycomb. It is actually the wax where the honey us stored within. I When we eat of the word of God it ls sweet. It is good it is there to help us. But just reading the Word is not enough. We must get into where the honey comes from get a piece of the honeycomb. As you chew on the honey comb you find more sweetness snd s purer taste if whsrvyge honey actually has come from. So is it with the Word of God as we chew on it apply it’s truth to our life it just gets sweeter snd sweeter. It’s Words will go deeper snd deeper into our life. So try chewing on it see how much sweeter it is instead of just tasting a little bit. There is a reward after applying it to our life the Word be ones alive it becomes your way of life. Wisdom and knowledge will be obtained then you find His presence becomes even sweeter than the honeycomb.
If you have never chewed on a piece of honeycomb try it and you will see.
His mercy his sweetness supercedes above all othets.

The Joy of the Lord is my Strength.

  11. 5 A Wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

  12. 3. Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: 4. And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. 5. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Thank you Jesus for these three !!!!

  13. 6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Always talk to Pastor and worry people about your situations and what you should do. For God could use them to give you an answer. When we want to do something and just stick with our “gut” that probably isn’t going to turn out well. I thank you Jesus for my pastor and my counselors. Thank you Jesus!

  14. 21 My son, fear both the Eternal and His anointed ruler. It is not wise to associate with those rebelling against them

22 Because disaster can arise from either of them without warning, and who knows what destruction comes down from both of them?

Be careful who you associate with – if they have rebellion in their heart, you may get caught in the wave of disaster and destruction that comes their way.

  15. 13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Oh how sweet and nourishing it is to gain wisdom. Most, if not all, have goals and expectations. We achieve those by listening instruction and by working. It’s so important we keep our ears open and continue to search daily for the sweetness of wisdom. Once we got that our goals and expectations become obtainable and we then gained them with right guidance and proper understanding.

  16. The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.
    Proverbs 24:5‭-‬6 NLT

Build you house on the Lord and you will have wisdom follow the LORD ways and you will have wisdom

  17. 10 If you fail under pressure, your strength is to small.

We all have experienced pressure. How will you perform in a ball game, recital, or school play will you forget the words. As adults we feel pressure of paying our bills, planning a vacation with our children, interviewing for a job or promotion. This is part of life, and we’ll learn from these experiences. The bible tells us to cast your cares upon Jesus.

Psalms 55:23 Give your burdens to the LORD,
and he will take care of you.

  18. 6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety

We must count the cost in our decisions and be willing to be open to wise counsel and instruction. God has placed in our lives many teachers and leaders to give us direction and instruction and we would be wise to follow it.

  19. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

When the saint of God stumbles or falls, we should be ready to help them be restored through love. Our attitude towards them should not be ‘they had it coming’, rather we should pray they overcome what ever caused them to fall. God will heal the cause of our backsliding and for the end time harvest, there are many prodigals that need the love of God and the saints to welcome them home.

  20. 30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

We must take care of what’s ours. We cannot allow for it to just grow and weeds come out of control. With our possessions like our house and fields that’s how we want to see them. It requires being diligent and working. The same with our lives we must invest in them and make sure we maintain them well kept.

  21. For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Let us remember that with mentors in your life you will make wise decisions. You are safe when you have somebody to answer to. Would you go to a battle field with out any plan, or even any backup ?

  22. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

The difference between a just man and a wicked man is that a wicked man falls they recognize they are in the wrong, but the continue to follow their own ways, but when a just man falls they recognize they are in the wrong and they get up, dust themselves off, ask for forgiveness, and continue to pursue after God

  23. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

If you fall down, get back up because the wicked can’t keep you down, you’re God’s child and he gave you the mindset to ignore the wicked!

  24. Proverbs 24:10
“If you faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”

“If you faint (lack courage and spirit: cowardly, weak ) in the day of adversity (difficulties, trouble, hardship, suffering, affliction, etc…), thy strength is small.”

    Then…
    GO GrOw FAITH in God.
    GO GrOw TRUST in God.
GO GrOw JOY in God (for the JOY of the LORD is your STRENGTH).

When your FAITH and TRUST is in God during times of Adversity, your STRENGTH comes from the JOY of the LORD in your life.

  25. 31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Go to work and get the weeds and thorns out of your life. Just because you start living for God it doesn’t mean life is gonna be a cake walk you still need to take the time and weed out everything that’s slowing you down from growing. Once you see that you’ll see your instruction
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus

  26. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Vs -16
Seven times in this vs means frequently the righteous may stumble again and again but he or she it won’t be permanently

  27. The over growth in our lives

    30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

If you ever have had to pull weeds you know that it is long and tedious, yet it has to be completed in order for the right plants to grow properly. If there are one or two weeds, it usually doesn’t effect the main plant, but let them grow and multiply. Watch out the weeds can take control and choke out the main plant.
What am I trying to say. Well the main plant is what we want to grow in our life. If it be a ministry or something that you want God to do in your life. Whatever that plant is, keep that thought. Now the weeds, Those are the things that we allow in our lives. And if we allow them to grow , they could choke out what you are trying to grow. How, By wrapping itself around the plant, taking the nutrients out of the soil. This is why we must weed out our personal gardens to allow what God wants to grow. But it takes work. We must guard ourselves from the things of this world that would try to choke us out.
    #GODOSOMETHING by Weeding

  28. 30. I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

Whatever we find to do, we are to do it will all of our strength and abilities. It can be easy to think that something can be put off until tomorrow without knowing what the next day will hold. Yet, God shows us with the illustration of the overgrown fields that when we put something off, we have much more work to do than if we had just simply completed the task. In everything in our lives, if we diligently put the effort intoall that Jesus has us to do; we will be blessed with the harvest and not be for want but rather a blessing to those around

  29. 21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

  30. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

  31. 6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

  32. 10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small
If we always try to deal with adversity on our own and with our own strength we will always faint. We must remember that the Lord is our strength and if we put it in His we will bring us through.

  33. 1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

I have found that many times in past, that the less than reputable people that have nicer things, have never been able to hold onto what they had, and they really were always looking for someone else to get one over on…
On the other hand, the people who were more prudent, less reckless, and a little more wise, usually are able to keep their nice things nice much longer. I believe the Word calls it being a good steward.

This also holds true with families and spiritual talents, just as much as it does with physical items.

  34. It is easy to agree with the opening thoughts of this proverb: ‘Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.’ We understand and even rejoice at the considerable value of the wisdom and knowledge of God. It is truly our strength! And yet the thought doesn’t really end there.

Consider what the proverb goes on to declare: ‘If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.’ That makes sense, even as it implores us to prepare ourselves for the day of adversity. No one wants to be found gasping for breath on the side of the road, hoping for someone of mercy to pass by. We want the strength within to keep on keeping on… and yet the thought continues just a bit further in the next couple verses.

‘If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?’ To be taken in context, we have to recognize this is still in reference to the previous verse regarding the measure of our strength, and yet now it is asking how prepared we are to help another in need. Does all the strength inherent in our possession of God’s knowledge and wisdom serve a greater purpose than ourselves? Does it reach out to those around us in need? Are we willing to serve as the vessel of God to accomplish a difference in someone else? Have we truly reached the level of potential strength that God intends for his people? Let us serve in strength!

  35. 1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

  36. 5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

If I could give wise words to any person going through a hard situation or just dealing with life it would be to find time to understand this scripture. A wise man is strong because he or she applies the knowledge that they’ve learned from watching others go through situations or going through situations themselves. When we know God and know that all things work for our God we can go through situations knowing that He will get glory out of it in some way and we will accept what He is doing in our lives.

  37. 13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

It’s a reward having knowledge of wisdom poured into our soul!! This is a beautiful illustration! the flavor that honey has is so sweet that makes you want more! I can imagine that for the soul that when we pour wisdom into us, it wants more and more. The flesh is willing but the flesh is weak. Wisdom is something we must hold on to to keep us going!! Lord give me the fear and the wisdom to keep running the race till the end!!! #Noturningback

  38. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

None of us are perfect. We are human beings. The only perfect one is Jesus Christ, and we are all striving to be like him. Each of us fall, there’s no shame in falling, the shame comes when we don’t get back up and continue striving for that perfection. Nor should we be happy when we see a brother/sister struggling or falling. We must be Jesus to them, and lift them up out of the pit they have fallen in and do our best to lead them to higher ground.

  39. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

Men and women of all ages will stumble and fall. The fall if man didn’t end with Adam and Eve but began a battle of rising and falling. A just man is not one that never falls, but one that gets back up dust themself up and repents..gets back on the straight and narrow path and finishes the race. Along the way their will be those who won’t root for us to finish the race but laugh when we fall. Instead of rejoicing when others fall we should be there ready to help them up.

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

  40. 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief

I 17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

It dosent matter how many time we fail or call, we must repent everytime and repent daily and get back up and turn away from our wickedness.

  41. vss 15-16 Lay not wait,O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Vengeance belongs to GOD. He never forgets to vindicate HIS NAME and HIS people.
Thank you JESUS for defending and rescuing your people.

  42. 30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

I guess I can say this about myself before when it came to keeping my garden clean of weeds. I remember when this opportunity to serve became available, in my mind I hand picked the hardest one thinking I had time to do it and that the weeds would not be so vicious.

I was wrong, anything was more important that I didn’t have time, and my slothfulness (procrastination) lead it to be a huge task come I made the time to actually clean it.

Now I realize how easy it maintenance is when you just make a little effect once a week.

  43. 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Having Wisdom in our lives pleases God and helps us make good choices.

  44. Before you go to war, I hope you seek wise counsel! The U.S. Military do it all the time with Military Intelligence and with our top leaders Dept. Of Defense, Congress, Military Leaders prior to any combat situation.

6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

    “Be Safe”………………

  45. “I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense. I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down. Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson: A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:30-34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There’s no pleasure in a lazy person. This passage reminds me that we must work while it is day. I must look at my vineyard and tend to it. In my life, are there weed of negativity that need to be plucked up? Do I have walls of conviction that needs to be repaired? The time is now! Wake up!

  46. It’s always best to make a wise decision no matter your situation or seek counsel if you need further understanding. Trouble will find you when least expected. Make up in your mind and do what Jesus would do.

  47. 9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

The thought of foolishness is sin. Causes deep thought for to be a fool is not smart. And what fools think of is sin. So how much of our world is a fool today. How does one make a fool wise? A wise man will listen to instruction and reproof, a fool will hate you for it? God could change them with tragedy or life (the school of hard knocks). But what could I do to save a fool from the fiery pit that they heading to? Through God an pray, the pray of a righteous man availeth much.

  48. 3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

  49. “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
