Proverbs 28

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lordunderstand all things.

Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

16 The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

  1. Verse 14 AMP “Blessed and favored by God is the man who fears [sin and its consequence] at all times, But he who hardens his heart [and is determined to sin] will fall into disaster.” Same verse MSG “A tenderhearted person lives a blessed life; a hardhearted person lives a hard life.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22 AMP says “Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].” Ephesians 4:32 AMP tells us “Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave [a]you.”

  2. GO IN FAITH

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

A Faithful man must have FAITH. FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. FAITH is a TRUST in things that we have not seen yet. Hope and Trust are very close relatives. We have HOPE for a dream or vision and we act on FAITH to see it manifest and come to fruition. In this process, how ever long it may stretch, we remain FAITHFUL to GOD, HIS WORD, HIS SPIRIT, HIS KINGDOM and HIS WILL.

During this season of being, living, remaining FAITHFUL, the WORD of GOD promises us, that we will ABOUND with BLESSINGS.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Lets GO IN FAITH today and possess our promise and abound in BLESSINGS.

  3. 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

HALELUJAH!!! Mercy I have had because YOU O LORD ARE GOOD!!!

  4. 22Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.

We see this weekly, people buying lotto tickets to become millionaires. The odds of winning is slim to none. Instead of giving those $5, $10, $20 dollars as offering they rather give it away. We give offerings, in return we’ll be blessed in some manner.

  5. 10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

We must be careful of our actions and attitudes, lest we be the reason that someone fall.

Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

  6. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Our heart is the most deceitful part of our body and it is not one that we follow, but be watchful of what it desires and learn how to lead it. It is the seat of emotion and any person who is breathing can not trust their emotions. I believe the worst advice u can give someone is to tell them to follow their heart… because it will more than likely lead them astray.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Wow…I found this verse that has been here for thousands of years today…I’ve read it before, but not it screams at me…A person can pray until the cows come home but if their heart and mind are not right, their prayer is an abomination. Obeying the law of the Word has to be our top priority or our prayer is completely vain. Wow.

  8. 26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Told a young man Something along the lines of this yesterday. He was puzzled because this world tells you to “listen to your heart” but… that is where your flesh want to go and do, but we should listen to Jesus and see where he leads us not our hearts. I told the young man your heart is where you get yourself in trouble. Our hearts feelings are only the flesh the Holy Ghost what we need to listen to. Thank you Jesus!

  9. “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our hearts can be deceiving. That is why the Scripture says “Lean not to your own understanding.” We must trust the Lord and He’ll direct our path.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  10. 9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

  11. Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and rich.
    Proverbs 28: 6 NLT

Honesty is a quality in a person’s character.

  12. 23 In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery. (NLT)

I know I do. Verse 10 says not to lead people astray; lying to them will definitely do that because they’ll think their right and then like verse 26 says, will always think their ways are the best and try to lead others with their misunderstandings… It’s like a big circle really. Don’t lie and flatter, honesty is always best!

  13. 18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

The choices we make have consequences. God knows the plan he has for you, don’t be so quick at making decisions without praying first or seeking counsel. It’s better to seek God in all of his ways rather than to fall into sin.

  14. 10 Whoever tries to deceive a good person into taking the path of evil will fall into the pit he himself made, but the truly honest shall be the heirs of all that is good. Voice

If you decide to take the path of evil, that’s your business, but this scripture warns you not to try to take someone else down with you.

  15. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

  16. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

When we are proud and arrogant we stir up strife and contention. The bible says that only through pride comes contention so upon understanding that we must strive to be humble and not allow ourselves to be consumed with pride. Our trust and confidence should be in the Lord. When we trust Him as we should we position ourselves to be blessed and prosper.

  17. The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. To reject the law is to praise the wicked; to obey the law is to fight them. Young people who obey the law are wise; those with wild friends bring shame to their parents.
    Proverbs 28:1‭, ‬4‭-‬4‭, ‬7 NLT

Wicked people love wicked things so obviously they will run to wicked things because they enjoy being Wicked and they enjoy the wicked things
But people who desire God will run to Jesus because we want more of him
When come to get out there we must no be afraid to go out and reach the Lost we are like a lion a lion does not care who you are he will fight he is not ashame

  18. 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

This scripture speaks for itself. The wicked are fleeing for they know hat beware your sin will find you out. And the righteous are bold because they know that only one person will call them to account and that is God.

  20. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

Bro Mo says that pride is the root of anger, and just the other day I found out that this is so true, sometimes evalutating a situation before you get upset is the best course, If I woulda prayed before i got all fleshy, I would have been better off! God can fix it better than I can!

  21. 1 The wicked flee when no one pursues them, But the righteous are as bold as a lion.

This chapter mentioned multiple times that the wicked will flee, the wicked hide, the wicked will fall.

I like how the Matthew Henrys Commentary put it:
“Guilt in the conscience makes men a terror to themselves, so that they are ready to flee when none pursues; like one that absconds for debt, who thinks every one he meets a bailiff. Though they pretend to be easy, there are secret fears which haunt them wherever they go, so that they fear where no present or imminent danger is, Ps. 53:5. Those that have made God their enemy, and know it, cannot but see the whole creation at war with them, and therefore can have no true enjoyment of themselves, no confidence, no courage, but a fearful looking for of judgment. Sin makes men cowards.”

Simply put, Sin Makes Men Cowards.

BUT there’s still hope, vs 13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But whoever confesses and [b]turns away from his sins will find compassion and mercy.

Whosoever confesses and TURNS away from their sins will find compassion and mercy!

  22. 5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.

When we see the judgement of God poured out in our lives or the life of another and we are so busy trying to understand why instead of seeking God we must find an alter. It would be so easy to allow ourselves to fall into temptation at this point and not follow after righteousness. It is God’s business who He blesses and who He allows to receive judgement and it is our business to seek Him in all things good or bad.

  23. 25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Scripture tells us our hearts can deceive us, so we can’t let our heart lead and guide us. We can’t be led by sight either. Our promises and blessings come from being led by God. His word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path.
    Ps 119:105

  24. Be sure to not be filled by your own selfish intentions, you can’t be Christ like if you can’t live for them .

When you pray you turn away , your repentance will have no value if all you do is turn back to that very sin .

Remember we must endure are nightmare before we live are nightmare before we live are dream .
A ignorant man doesn’t know what he does. But a stupid man makes em knowing what he is doing wrong . We must let go of us and let God . We must confess to the lord .
See to be more Christ like we must be beaten torn disgusted busted destroyed spot on and despised and hated . But are you going to use that to build you up and be more like Christ or to be more like “who you are” .
    Let go and let God

  25. Josiah: 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
If God is on our side, who can stand against? The word of God is like a two-edged sword. When we are founded and stand upon the word we can be like a house built upon the rock. When things of this world may try to oppose us we can stand bold and be a city set on a hill. The wicked may be worried about this, make things bigger than they are, and flee when no man pursueth! However, the Bible says “but the righteous are bold as a lion.” There is no need to worry about the trials of life if you are serving God for He makes a way. So, let us Go BOLDLY in JESUS NAME and be a light to this world!

  26. Proverbs 28
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent

He is faithful. He is rewarding. He will sustain.
I will delight in the Lord and He will bless.

The Joy of the Lord is My Strength

  27. 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

  28. 5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things.
I understand sin is bad and Jesus is good!
Carnal people make irrational decisions, they don’t even think about the consequences. When you find Jesus you’re constantly asking yourself “should I do this” “should I say this” “should I look at this” what I mean is we’re constantly seeking the lord for answers and understanding. We’ve already made the right decisions jumping on the winning side but from there it’s not always easy to stay on that path of righteousness. So seek HIS face daily!
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus

  29. For Richer or Poorer

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

We went on a family vacation about 8 years ago. And on that trip we went to a very high end restaurant. And when we got our food, I tasted it and I told my Mom,” If this is how the rich eat, I’m glad we’re poor.” Yet if you really think about it,”poor people,” tend to be more family oriented and are people who tend church more. With that being said. How many of your friends do you see, that may look well off, yet are struggling spiritually. I may be poor according to this world but I am rich in spirit. No matter what happens in this life, its what happens spiritually that matters. It’s a soul matter , and not a life matter.

    #GODOSOMETHING and keep yourself holy.

  30. 8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

  31. 19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

To have a harvest there must be work before it, there must be sacrifice, sweat and commitment. We must be willing to pay the price for the harvest.

  32. 24. Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer. 25. He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat. JESUS IS LORD OF ALL !!!!

  33. 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

What do you gain why you try to hide your sin? ..Nothing, Nothing at all.
Confession is good for the soul!

  34. 23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

For those who like to “keep the peace” dishonesty can be a way of life. I’m not saying this applies for every one because we are supposed to be peacemakers (Mat 5:9). I’m talking of those afraid to rock the boat, reluctant to tell people what they really think- especially if the truth may make them uncomfortable or defensive. A wise person will commit themselves to the good of others, even if that requires her to correct or rebuke someone they love. “Tough love” in a relationship can be costly, and anger or retribution can result. Solomon’s wise principle here is that the person who is willing to love others, no matter what the cost, will be appreciated more in the end than the friend who takes the easy route with flattery and dishonesty. “Wounds from a friend can be trusted” Solomon says in Proverbs 27:6. When our hearts are in the right place, we can “wound” someone in a way that heals and restores so God can build and mold them the way a potter shapes clay.

  35. What stronger admonition do we need to adhere to God’s law that this? ‘He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.’ To ignore the laws and precepts of the almighty God of heaven and then have the audacity to lift your voice in want. That persons prayer is called an abomination not because their need is not real but because their belief in the God they’re calling out to in prayer isn’t real. How can you declare you believe in a God while turning a deaf ear to everything that God has declared is important in your life? Our belief and faith in God is shown in our willing obedience. .. and in our strengthening others in their own walk with God.

This is reinforced in the succeeding verse: ‘Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.’ It is bad enough if you’re not listening, but to go as far as to discourage someone else.. we can’t underestimate the power of our influence and it’s eternal consequences. The upright, those who choose to listen and follow in the path God has declared for their life, SHALL have good things in their possession. Not just the good blessings of God, but his goodness and wisdom within! O that I would know him! To follow him, to declare him, to praise him, to live for him, to be an example of him before all! In Jesus name!

  36. 9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Throughout this life, in the good times and the bad I need to be sure that I put my trust in the Lord! That I lean not unto my own understanding but always walk in His perfect way. As I walk in the path He has set before me, I need to always be sure I listen to God, listen to His Word! More importantly as I go through life I cannot pick and choose what aspects of a walk with God I want to follow, I need to be sure that I follow the whole gospel and apply it in my life all the time! ” For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Praise the Lord for the opportunity to live for Him and to have Him working in my life! Praise the Lord for His mercy endureth forever!

  37. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.(Proverbs 28:26 KJV)

If we trust in our own hearts then we have confidence in our own wisdom, strength, and believing in our own abilities. We are called to “Trust in the Mord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. (Proverbs 3:5) when we submit ourselves unto God he will deliver us and make our paths straight.

  38. 26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered

We are adviced to not lean on our own understanding and that the heart is wicked. For that reason we should be cautious to keep our heart with all diligence and allow the Word of God to pave the way of our lives. Does it align with the Word we should ask and follow God’s principles

  39. 1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

When we have God with us, we can overcome anything that comes against us.

  40. Lead good people down a wrong path and you’ll come to a bad end; do good and you’ll be rewarded for it.

Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

Sometimes we can get caught up in the rat race of life and making money that we lose sight of what is important. Seek first His Kingdom does not seem to always apply to this monetary driven world. It can be done and when we can apply this simplest of principles to every aspect of our lives God rewards us beyond measure. Test Him and see if He will not open the windows of Heaven.

  41. “Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
It’s better to walk straight with little than to have much and go astray. It’s often hard for people to follow after this scripture if they grew up trying to “keep up with the Jones.” He mentality of I have to have more leads us into self guided and self willed behaviors. Going after self causes perversion. I’d rather go straight and be happy the Jones have what they have.
