Song of Solomon 3

By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?

Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.

They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.

King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.

11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.

  1. Verse 1 MSG “Restless in bed and sleepless through the night, I longed for my lover. I wanted him desperately. His absence was painful.” This verse reminded me of the song that says:

Just a moment in your presence
Just an instance of your love
Just a glimpse of your glory
Just a minute I ask for

I give my all, It wouldn’t matter
The price I’d have to pay or
The time I’d have to wait

    Lord I hunger for you
    For your presence
    For your fragrance
    For your power

    Hunger that hurts
    Hunger that weakens
    In desperation
    For you

  2. 4. Not long after I left them, I found him-I found my soul’s true love. I pulled him to me and would not let him go until I brought him to my mother’s house, to the very room where she conceived me. Voice

    Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. KJV

  3. 8 They are all skilled swordsmen, experienced warriors. Each wears a sword on his thigh, ready to defend the king against an attack in the night. (NLT)

Often in the dark of night, many let their guard down when instead our guard should be that much higher and stronger. We should always be ready to defend and pull out our swords (the word), even in the night.

  4. 8 They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.

If we truly knew the dangers we faced in this world, we would be like these men that go no where with out there swords.

What makes them experts? The train vigorously learning every type and style of defense and offense. What of the modern Christian? Are we prepared for spiritual battle to fight in the kingdom of God wearing the full armor of the Spirit.

  5. 5 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

  6. iLove to Go Blog
Song of Solomon 3:2-3 NLT (2) So I said to myself, “I will get up and roam the city, searching in all its streets and squares. I will search for the one I love.” So I searched everywhere but did not find him. (3) The watchmen stopped me as they made their rounds, and I asked, “Have you seen the one I love?”

Have you ever lost something that was very valuable? You know how it feels to search and look everywhere to find it. It could even be your keys you are searching for. Did you notice how you trace your steps and did you notice how all the sudden you start praying for the lost item. “Lord, please help me find this, I’m sorry I have been in such a bad attitude with folks…” Well, these natural feeling of seeking the valuable carnal things of this world should serve us notice of that what is missing in our spiritual being. We must seek that which is lost and we must seek relationship with Jesus!

  7. 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

We see here a desperate and highly motivated search for the beloved. I can only but imagine this is what God means when he wants us to search Him with all our hearts. To search his face like the one of whom we love. To yearn to want to see Him with such desperation that regardless of the price we will go to all measures and distances asking seeking Going to search Him for he longs to be Loved back the Way He loves us. He laid it all down for our love.

“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord : and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord ; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”
    Jeremiah 29:12‭-‬14 KJV

  8. 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

Have you ever loved someone so much that they are the lasting thing you think about before you fall asleep? If your answer is yes or no, my response is why not God? He is the one that created us in His image. He first loved me. He saw what I would become, he knows where I am going. Our love for God Should be unmatched, even by marriage standards. Would you be willing to lose your soul for someone that is not in love with God?
In our culture, we use the word LOVE so much that it has lost its value to us. We LOVE food, and we LOVE that new movie, we LOVE our new clothes, and when it comes to boyfriends and girlfriends, WE LOOOOVVVVEEEE them so much!!!!!!!! Yet when we are asked how do we fell about God. We give the answer,” Well yeah, I love God of course.” I don’t recall food dying for my sins, I don’t recall that movie going to hell and taking the keys from satan, I don’t recall a girlfriend or boyfriend going to heaven to prepare a place for you. Yet we say we LOVE those things.
So why don’t we seek after God like our favorite Netflix series? Why don’t we spend the time with God like we do on our favorite game on social media? I am calling to everyone, IT IS TIME TO GET BACK TO YOUR FIRST LOVE FOR GOD!!! It’s time to get back to really reading and absorbing the Word of God, It’s time to fast for things that you want to see God do in your life, It’s time to pray the fire down from heaven in our services. It’s time for the church to GET UP and #GODOSOMETHING- GO DO SOMETHING for GOD and seek his love.

  9. GO MAKE YOUR OWN WAY

9 King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

This verse intrigues me, Solomon was King, but in regards to transportation and advancement he made himself a chariot “Save Yourself”.

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

There are certain things in our life that we cannot leave to chance. The King, the Wise man, the Leader took this particular matter into his own hands. A chariot in those days was very important as it served as not only a mode of transportation, but also for protection.

We are wise today to build our Spiritual chariots on the WORD of GOD. We cannot allow this world or its system to influence or affect our decisions or direction.

Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Never losing sight of the FACT of we ARE the body of Christ and laborers together, there are certain challenges we must face and overcome through our own tenacity and creativity.

  10. 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

    I woke up with a statement that we heard at NAYC this year;
“He doesn’t NEED you, He WANTS you”.

With that still ringing in my ears as I read the blog this morning, I couldn’t help but think about the TRUE Love that God has for us. That through every mistake, every time we turn away from, and every time we don’t obey HE STILL WANTS US.

MHC states: “Though he slay me, I will trust in him; though he leave me, I will love him. When I have him not in my arms, I have him in my heart.”
Job 15:13 “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him:”

If we could have the same Love toward Jesus as He does toward us…
If we could not only Need Him but ALSO WANT Him. Not just Need the gifts of God but WANT to be in His presence!
This is the type of relationship I desire with My Jesus.

  11. 4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

When our hungry for Jesus is as this chapter, it doesn’t take long for us to connect with Him in prayer. If we find ourselves challenged connecting to Him, we must search our hearts, and discover what is holding us back.

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

  12. 4. Not long after I left them, I found him-I found my soul’s true love. I pulled him to me and would not let him go until I brought him to my mother’s house, to the very room where she conceived me.

That love and longing that is spoke about here is related closely to the love that Christ has for us and the love we should have for Him. Our hearts should be full of the love of Christ so much that we never stop seeking Him and never stop pursuing Him.

  13. 8. They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night. Fear only God !

  14. Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and wild deer, not to awaken love until the time is right.
    Song of Songs 3:5 NLT
Seek Jesus first and everything will follow after when God knows your ready he will will you someone who just right

  15. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Before Christ I desired this hunger, a want for happiness. I searched everywhere and every place I searched that was wrong just made the desire to find it even more. Once I figured out that Jesus was the answer I started reading and reading and reading and reading. I sat there on my front porch trying to figure out how to get more of God. I knew “soul Loveth” the Lord. I had been to POFW before but never on a mission like October 30th. God seen I was hungry God seen I was ready. God filled me with Holy Ghost and EVERYTHING Ihad ever searched for came to me at that particular moment. The Holy Ghost is unexplainable because every ounce of happiness overflows you at one time all the way to the tip of your fingers, your toes, your tongue, your ears…all that can explain is that fire sensation all over your body. So the next time someone comes to you with problems look at them and tell them YOU know the ANSWER and the answer is Christ. Christ is what your soul longeth all this time. Let God do what’s best for you.
iBless you in the name of the Lord

  16. Song of Solomon 3:2-3 (NLT)
    2) So I said to myself, I will get up and roam the city, searching in all its streets and squares. I will search for the one I love. So I searched everywhere but did not find him.
    3) The watchman stopped me as they made their rounds, and I asked, Have you seen the one I love?
    4) Then scarcely had I left them when I found my love. I caught and held him tightly…

You will find HIM when you search for HIM with all your heart.

  17. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Many people are seeking for love in many different places, they’re seeking after some kind of happiness and they’re not finding what they want and the reason is they are looking in all the wrong places! The only answer to what they are seeking after is Jesus, and it’s up to us to tell them! But we first must make sure He is who we are seeking after!!

  18. 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

One commentator wrote that this was like the Church/saint of God who has lost favor of God and is seeking it. Once it regained, it is valuable and held to dearly. We do not seek our God in vain. His word says seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you. If you find that you are in need, or that you lack closeness with Him, seek him till it is found again.

  19. 3 The watchmen stopped me as they made their rounds, and I asked, “Have you seen the one I love?”

This also applies to individuals who work long extra hours. Men, be careful how long you stay away from home. Your wife and kids, will be asking this same question. If your spouse has to ask this question or never really know how long you’ll be working, then it should be obvious you are away to much.

  20. 5 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

Dont strive for something that you cant obtain. Always strive for the lord before all. Jesus’ love will conquer all. In Jesus name.

  21. 5 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

Solomon said it best when he explained that everything has a time and a season. We should be prepared in season and out of season, meaning we shouldn’t jump the gun just because we are equipt to. Love is patient meaning we must exercise the same patience Jesus has with us until he gives us the green light. Stirring things up that aren’t ready to be mixed can stir up trouble.

  22. Speaking of bouncing back; reading this and my current situation was a complete eye opener. God has me here for a purpose: now it is up to me to step out into the light and know what that purpose is. It is truly time to put away childesh things and to build up my spiritual chariot. To get my hands working and filling myself with the Holy Spirit. It is time to GO and GROW into the man God has called me to be.

King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

  23. SIS NORA

1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Sometimes we pray and we pray and we press in but nothing, and it seems as if all that we aren’t going to get the result we are looking for, but if we hold on to God’s promises, if we remember them before we allow discouragement to set in, we will find out that our one TRUE LOVE, was there the whole time!

  24. 3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

Everyone who enters the doors of the church, is looking for him, that their loveth.

  25. Wonderful principle to think upon: ‘By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth:’ Such a strong expression to seek out God for oneself, and continue seeking until that desire is fulfilled!

So many people in the world expect God to come knocking on their door. They pursue whatsoever their heart desires and just assume that God will come looking for them when it is time. The Bible however, clearly declares just the opposite: ‘Seek and ye shall find.’ It is not incumbent upon God, it is us who are supposed to express our desire by seeking him. He has already demonstrated his love, it’s time for us to demonstrate our love and desire for him. And just as we see here, once we find him, we should never let go!

  26. I Love To Worship The Lord
Just getting back from a long car journey and flying back with a layover in Chicago i really realized even more how bleesed we really are having a Pastor and a First Lady like we have.

  27. Josiah: 7 Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.
8 They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.
These verses got me thinking that the best in this world still has failure but, God is perfect. God does not fail us. It is we who mess up and sin sometimes. You can get the best guards in the whole world. Ones who are expert in war to protect you. You can get the best security system. However God is more reliable. When we are built upon the rock and founded upon His word the storms and trials of life can come and go and we can be stronger. It is God who protects us and it is much better to put out trust in the Lord. There is power in the His name and where there is power there is strength. So, let us GO IN JESUS NAME!

  28. Song of Solomon 3: 9 (English Amp ) Wow King Soloman made himself a car or a palanquin from the [ cedar wood of Lebanon. We should build a spiritual chariots on the word of the Lord. For our protection from the world. Be labor’s for each other’s. Insure one other. Have patience.God wants all of us.

  29. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

I wonder if the Lord has ever went searching for us, longing for intimacy, desring to be with the one whom he loves…but he cannot find us. We are too busy being about his business or maybe our own, we have too much going on, even working for the kingdom that we dont leave time to have intimacy with God. We must love the God of work over the work of God

  30. What is this coming up from the wilderness like columns of smoke, scented with myrrh and frankincense from every fragrant powder of the merchant?(Song of Songs 3:6 HCSB)

Sometimes in life we experience some difficulties in our lives that when we are put up against. The Beloved searched for her Lover the same way we the bride of Jesus should seek after him. When she searched she found a presence coming from the wilderness, a dark place being overcome by the anointing like myrrh and frankincense that followed Solomon and his men. When we seek after Jesus we’ll find him and we can be identified as his by the anointing he puts on us.

  31. “”All night long on my bed I searched for the one my heart loves. I looked for him but didn’t find him. I will get up. I’ll go around in the city. I’ll look through all of its streets. I’ll search for the one my heart loves. So I looked for him but didn’t find him. Those on guard duty found me as they were walking around in the city. ‘Have you seen the one my heart loves?’ I asked. As soon as I had passed by them I found the one my heart loves. I threw my arms around him. I didn’t let him go until I had brought him to my mother’s house. I took him to my mother’s room.”
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭3:1-4‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

What an illustration of great hunger. She went to great depths to find what was valueable to her. And when it was found she didn’t let go. I pray that this some hunger overtakes is for a deep relationship with God and lost souls.

  32. “So I said to myself, “I will get up and roam the city, searching in all its streets and squares. I will search for the one I love.” So I searched everywhere but did not find him.”
    ‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭3:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus will not be found in the broad ways. The path that leads to righteousness is a straight and narrow path. Christianity is not a one time experience, it is a daily walk through life to Jesus. It is like a marriage. You do not get married, have one experience with your groom, and then go back into the world. Marriage and Christianity are eternal commitments.

  33. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you

  34. Those that are looking for Jesus will be able to find him through his children. As a child of God, if you’re having a hard time telling other about Christ, it’s time to start praying that God will give you wisdom and Holy Ghost boldness. One of our main jobs is to help other to Jesus, but if you don’t really know who Jesus is, it will be hard to direct them.

  35. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

Those who truly love Jesus will rise up and seek Him.

  36. 1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

I never want to lose sight of God! No matter what I may go through spiritually or what I may do in this life physically I want to be sure that I stay close to God! I do not want to wake up one night and realize that I have lost sight of Him and His plan for my life. God is there for us in the good times and the bad, but it is up to me to keep Him in my life! I never want to lose sight of God or His love for me. God is awesome mighty and I want to be able to serve Him with all that I can!

  37. “By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?”
    ‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭3:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We all seek after the things we love. Things that we look for and chase will eventually be found and caught. We must be certain to chase the correct things or we will catch something we didn’t really want.

  38. 2 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
3 The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

How much is God searching for those he loveth. The watchmen know not where they are, and they are alone. I pray that God finds his sheep and they follow him to the fold. May I be a witness and a help to God to find and bring his sheep home, In Jesus Name!
