Song of Solomon 5

I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?

My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.

I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.

I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.

I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.

What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?

10 My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.

11 His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven.

12 His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set.

13 His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.

14 His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.

15 His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.

16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

  1. Verse 2 CEV “I was asleep, but dreaming: The one I love was at the door, knocking and saying, “My darling, my very own, my flawless dove, open the door for me! My head is drenched with evening dew.” Verse 6 CEV “My heart stood still while he spoke to me, but when I opened the door, my darling had disappeared. I searched and shouted, but I could not find him— there was no answer.” We cannot afford to wait; but answer the call (knock).

James 4:8 NLT says “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” Luke 13:25 NLT says “When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’”

  2. 2. I slept, but my heart was awake, when I heard my lover knocking and calling: “Open to me, my treasure, my darling, my dove, my perfect one. My head is drenched with dew, my hair with the dampness of the night.”

    3. But I responded, “I have taken off my robe. Should I get dressed again? I have washed my feet. Should I get them soiled?” NLT

    Revelation 3:20
Now pay attention; I am standing at the door and knocking. If any of you hear My voice and open the door, then I will come in to visit with you and to share a meal at your table, and you will be with Me. Voice

Are we paying attention, and listening for His knock?
And do we hear it, but don’t want to give up the comfortable state we’re in to answer the call?

  3. 16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

HE IS ALTOGETHER LOVELY, ALTOGETHER WORTHY, ALTOGETHER WONDERFUL TO MEEEEE!!!

  4. 4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
5 I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh

We all need sleep. Yet there many timesjust when we are testing the best , His voice will awaken us in the middle of the night the early hours of yhe morning wooing us into His presence. There have been times I’ve been awaken knowing I needed to pray an urgent prayer later to find tgst it was the Spirit making intercession for a situation taking place at that moment where God needed to intervene. A Devine Intervention as preached last night. Our prayers our warring against the enemy does make a difference.
Lives are saved from destruction just because one person listened to the voice calling them from sleep. We are mighty in the Holy Ghost. We must allow our hearts to be awakened continually by His voice.
There is much to be found when we hearken to Him.

  6. I have entered my garden, my treasure, my bride! I gather myrrh with my spices and eat honeycomb with my honey. I drink wine with my milk. Oh, lover and beloved, eat and drink! Yes, drink deeply of your love!
    Song of Songs 5:1 NLT

We are Jesus bridge and he is coming one day for his bridge oh how wonderful it will be to be with Jesus where there no pain of cry it’s me and Jesus. Jesus is Waring us get ready I am coming for my bride I can see him asking how many people did you reach did you tell the about the good new or were you to too scared to see what they would say I try God but they just didn’t listen keep trying God said they are listening
I can imagine God saying you are save but what about your family did you reach out to the yes God but they did not listen so I gave up there blood is on you
listening to God Waring he is coming soon

  7. There is a natural order in marriage. It begins with two people falling in love, believing that they are the most important person in the world to each other. As children come along they need to be cherished and loved but never more than your spouse. Then when they’re grown and gone, it’s back to just two people again. When these two remain in love, it provides a stability and a legacy for the children, no matter their age.

If you push your spouse down on your list of priorities, your children will believe that marriage isn’t all that important. On the other hand, if they see you honoring your spouse with that number one spot, they will feel a love and security that can come in no other way.

  8. Song of Solomon 5:2
“I sleep, but my heart waketh; it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; for my head is filled iwth dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.”

Rev. 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

  9. THE PERIL OF PROCRASTINATION

3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
5 I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

The “PAUSE” in decisions can be costly. If we consider this parable as the Bride of Christ and JESUS coming to get her for the marriage supper. What pain it would be to know that PROCRASTINATION caused me to miss out.

The attitude of the brides response indicates that what she had accomplished was more important to her than the meeting. She was in her bed clothes and cleaned up, but didn’t want to get up to get her feet dirty. Are we willing to get up and PRAY in the midst of the night, are we willing to be awakened by our Master and spend precious time with HIM at an inconvenient season.

THE PERIL OF PROCRASTINATION caused her to miss her appointment and he could not be found.

Let all of The POFW know that it is TIME to GO. Be READY when JESUS knocks.

  10. 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh

This verse reminds me of the NT Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone should hear My voice and open the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
We must stand ready to hear the knock of God upon our hearts and lives and hearken to the voice of the Lord.

  11. 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

How we should treasure when the voice of the Lord knocks at our hearts door to spend time with Him. We must respond with YES and let Him in to that secret place with us.

    Reminds me of this song:
In the secret place of the Most High is where I abide,
More and more I long to be by His side, it’s where I hide
I desire You in all I do, my soul longs for You, I give my all to You

All my worship, all my praise I give my all

  12. 3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?

This reminds me of baptism and foot washing, After God has washed any my sin, how shall I defile it? No other fount I know, that makes me white as snow…. May I stay washed and clean of sin by the blood of Jesus, and lead others to this fount in Jesus name.

Our world has been asleep, they have been blind to what is going on, but I believe that God is awakening this world! Are your ears in tune with His spirit? Can you hear him knocking at your heart preparing you for what is to come?

Lord I pray that you would awaken this world, that you would remove the scales from our eyes and let all see that You are here knocking at our door trying to get our attention!

  14. 12 His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set.

Let’s take a moment and think about these descriptions I got to the hands and instantly thought of Christ
Gold rings set with the beryl…
If we look forward in Daniel we see this
“His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.”
    ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭10:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    then again in Revelations
“And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Above the scriptures I chose from songs of Solomon look as if it’s talking about a man she could be in love with. I look again and see she’s talking to the daughters of Jerusalem. So I believe she could be the bride of Christ and she is talking about The one and only JESUS!
We are the church and when we describe Jesus to others we use nothing but beautiful words.
Go with a beautiful description of Jesus today!
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  15. I sleep, but my heart waketh, it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh saying, open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled, for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. When the Lord is trying to get our attention, pay attention and know that it is Him who woke us up out of our sleep, He wants to love us and for us to spend precious time with him. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

“I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.”

Sometimes it feels as if we are all alone in life. It feels like we look everywhere for the Lord and for whatever reason we cannot find him. At moments like this, be aware that others in the church will begin to “pick” on you. Notice this verse, 7 “The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.” These are the times it feels as if you are the scapegoat and it appears as if everyone is out to get you…The key to overcoming these times of testing is to be so much in Love with Jesus that these situations do not even faze you. Psalms 119:165, “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

Overcoming these tests will cause the Lord’s favor to shine upon you.
1 Peter 3:17 NLT Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

  17. 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

  18. 6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

As much as this whole book relates to God’s relationship to the church, and being the husband to the bride. And with all the scriptures that relate to us the church being the bride of Christ, this is one of the few scriptures or I don’t believe we will find God’s nature in the husband. To where we can seek God and not find him and call for him and he not answer. Because there’s a verse in the Bible that says to knock and it will be opened and to ask and it will be answered. No matter what is going on in our lives we can always trust that God will always be found.

  19. 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

“I hear a voice, it’s the voice of the one I love and He’s calling my name… I am running, running after You. You’ve become my souls delight. I am running, running after You. Here with You I find my life.”

  20. Song of Solomon 5:2 msg. I was sound asleep, but in my dreams I was wide awake. Oh, listen! It’s the sound of my lover knocking calling!

Rev.3:20 Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. Conqueror’s will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered , took the place of honor at the side of me Father. That’s my gift to the Conquerors!

  21. Josiah: This psalm got me thinking. There are things people love. When your older and maybe married it would be your spouse. For younger people it might be a hobby or something. However out first love should be God. In the trials and the rewards we should love God. God’s love is unconditional and He was an example of how to live our lives. There is a little kids song that says take this whole world but, give me Jesus. It doesn’t matter how many people hate us if we please God and it doesn’t matter how many people like us if we displease God. So, let us GO LOVE JESUS with our WHOLE HEART!

  22. 16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Is the love of God so sweet to us that We go around telling people about it? This is my beloved and this is my friend. Are you a friend of God? This are the thoughts that come to mind. When you find a person in love, you find them constantly talking about or bringing the object of their affection into every conversation. Let God’s love so richly fill you that all you can do is but talk about your beloved your friend.

  23. 9 What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?

I believe this is how God saw Adam at the beginning. And this is how he sees us today, because we are the liniage of Adam. This is when God said it is good.

  24. The Lover calls his Beloved “my sister, my bride” (SS 5:1) and the Beloved says “This is my lover, this [is] my friend” (SS 5:16) . These two are experiencing what is meant to be one of the significant blessings of marriage: deep, intimate friendship with each other. When the foundation of a marriage is an abiding friendship, which includes mutual respect and care, a marriage can weather most any storm when Jesus is the center of it all.

  25. 8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.

Does it have to come to a desperate situation for us to express what we feel? This is one of the things that I used to be accused of before, my lack of expression.

Some one once said,”Happy wife, happy life”. There is some truth to that, but I don’t think all woman are oblivious. This is true, it takes a concerted effort from both.

  26. 9Why is your lover better than all others, O woman of rare beauty? What makes your lover so special that we must promise this?

Couples, Remember that special feeling you had with one another when you first met. Your spouse was better than anyone else. Make each other feel special and shower each other with love, joy and respect.

    • 2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

  27. The commitment of love shared with our spouse is what makes marriage worth the sacrifice. Although his thoughts are so much greater than our own, it is this kind of commitment and love that God uses, so in our limited understanding we could grasp the depth of his love. The love who for the joy that was set before him, us, endured the sacrifice upon the cross even though he despised the shame of sin he would bear.

Yes, he was still God, but the Bible clearly declares he was tempted in all points as we are. We see the cry of his flesh to take that cup away, yet for the joy that was set before him, his spirit and his will prevailed… even to withstand something he so despised that no man in sin can stand before him and live.

That is the love that God has declared to us. I pray that even in the weakness of this poor body and it’s limited understanding, that I would always declare my love to him in my words and in my actions! Let his love shine through me!
