Isaiah 10

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth.

19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

23 For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

24 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

26 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

33 Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

  1. 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

What I can say about this chapter the Lord angry is short but his Mercy and love will endure forevermore Jesus always give us time to humble ourselves

  2. Verses 20-21 ERV “Then the people from Jacob’s family who are left living in Israel will stop depending on the one who beat them. They will learn to depend on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. Those who are left in Jacob’s family will again follow the Powerful God.[b]” A hope for the Lord’s people as captioned in the NLT. Depend on and follow the one true God….Jesus!

  3. Isaiah 10:27
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

  4. 15. But wow, are they ever mistaken! Assyria seems to think it has used God. Can an ax take credit instead of the one who swings it? Is a saw better than the one who uses it? Only if a club or rod can move on its own. Voice

We don’t use God as a tool for us, but He allows us to be a vessel for Him. When God works through us to perform His will, we know that it was not our own power or authority that worked, but His.

  5. 16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
    17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth

There is no God like our God. Regardless of what we see other people do, or how we preceive them to be, in the end, we all face the same God and those that have mistreated His people without repentance answer. While I do not wish any person to have to face the wrath of God,and I pray each person who has done another wrong will turn away, if they don’t…there is a vengeful God who will protect his children.

  6. 13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

God knows our needs before we ask. The hard part of this is that is not always about us. Only God knows what comes next. It is our job to petition Him with our needs because “we have not because we ask not”. Then, even when we have asked and we truly believe it is a need in our life we have to trust God’s plan over our interests. You never know what plans God has in store for you. We cannot know the road He will take us on.

  7. It is important to remember that the captivity of Israel was not only prophesied, it was declared to be for their good. That may seem to be a dichotomy, but consider how we correct our own children.. is it not also for their good? God tried time and time again to get them to repent on their own while remaining in the land and yet they consistently fell back into idolatry… and their falls became worse and worse. So what is God to do? Does he destroy them like he threatened to Moses, our does he resort to more extreme measures to purge and save his chosen people?

We know the answer, and yet even in the midst of that correcting, God told them what he was going to do and why. ‘And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.’ They weren’t going to have to serve in captivity forever. God was going to bring then back! And after serving such a master, they would be happy to serve their God. More importantly, it would be done in truth! Not just lip service to a God whose ordinances they ignored as they also followed after their idols… they would serve him in spirit and in truth!

Say what you will about the state of Israel when Jesus came, but despite any other shortcomings, they were set upon one God! The idolatry had been purged and they were looking for a redeemer! The lesson is clear for us today as well. We can spare ourselves the need to go through some additional trials in our own life by freely choosing to worship God in spirit and in truth! He’ll prove to us that our little idols are of no effect if he has too, but why make him teach us a lesson we can learn right out of his word? Just let God be God and allow his hand to dwell on the meatier matters in our walk with him!

  8. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

  9. UNDERSTANDING SUBMISSION

15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Considering the illustrations in this verse, the instruments described are totally dependent upon its master or another source to be successful.

UNDERSTANDING SUBMISSION is understanding that we do noting on our own. My submission to JESUS as my LORD means I do not have any successes without HIM. HE is my source of strength, HE is my source of hope, peace, joy and progress.

From a natural persepective, UNDERSTANDING SUBMISSION to my Pastor, means I am submitted to HIS authority, guidance and counsel. My spiritual leader is my spiritual authority and has influence for successes and protection from failures.

An axe, a rod, a saw or a staff are all lifeless instruments with no power or authority until they are submitted to the hand of man.

  10. 15. But wow, are they ever mistaken! Assyria seems to think it has used God. Can an ax take credit instead of the one who swings it? Is a saw better than the one who uses it? Only if a club or rod can move on its own.

We are instruments in the hand of a almighty all powerful God. Nothing can take us out of his hand and nothing can stop us when we are in His hand being used by him.
We must not forget that no matter how well were used and to what extend God blesses us we are merely tools, vessels of honor for the masters use.

  11. 24 So this is what the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, says: “O my people in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrians when they oppress you with rod and club as the Egyptians did long ago. (NLT)

Things aren’t always what they seem! God has a purpose in everything He does and just because it might mean we endure some pressure doesn’t mean it’s over for us. So do not be afraid in whatever situation you face, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is always by your side! Just like a song says, “I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind; the God of angel armies is always by my side. The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine! The God of angel armies is always by my side.”

  12. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Anointing!!! ANOINTING DESTROYS THE YOKE!!! HALELUJAH!!! WE ARE NOT LEFT DESOLATE, WE HAVE THE HOLY GHOST, WE ARE ANOINTED, WE HAVE THE POWER!!! JESUS I PRAISE YOU!!! YOU ARE THE DADDY OF DADDY’S!!! NO ONE GREATER THAN YOU!!! I LOVE YOU

  13. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

My enemy did not triumph! Lord pour a fresh anointing over me like never before these yokes will be broken in the name of Jesus! Its mine! Increase, favor, and blessing is on the way in the name of Jesus! I declare it right now! The God of peace will crush satan under my feet! I declare I got victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These souls in this school will see what Jesus is all about! Our praise and prayer will tear down strongholds that are not of the lord when we speak the word we have power and authority! What is the formula for Victory? PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! Praise your way out of sickness, trials, and everything! I have victory! The enemy is under our feet, and the enemy doesn’t even know what its in for. Jesus is the truth, the way, and the light! As apostolic men and woman we will shine in the darkness. Jesus is our hope and I will follow him! I bless you all in the name of the lord Jesus Christ! Let there be peace and victory over you! Things will fall and fail, but we still have all we need and that is Jesus! We are living the best and blessed life!

  14. 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

It was the Lord in the last chapter who allowed Assyria to overtake the people because of their lack of obedience. Here we see the “king” taking all the glory as if it were him that caused it to happen. Remind me of when satan was cast out of heaven because he had the “i” syndrome.

We must guard our hearts and our spirits to not allow the “i” syndrome to take the glory of God. If our conversations are more “i” focused then God focused we could find ourselves in the same situation as this king.

  15. 1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

We dont need to discourage people, either in writing or verbal. what does it gain us to cause someone unnecessary distress? We are suppose to be compassionate and pray for those that are in need of the very things we sometimes take for granted!

  16. Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
    Isaiah 10:11‭-‬12 KJV
    http://bible.com/1/isa.10.11-12.KJV

God knows what we are doing and how to correct our wrong doings. I know from idolatry. He will destroy the idols and tear down the temples of the gods. I need to purpose myself for God’s work and finish destroying the walls that have been built up. I want to have that personal relationship with God and I know what I need to do to get there, but there are times where it is a struggle. I need to keep the world from influencing my mind and give it all over to Jesus. I need to burn out the thorns and briers. My fruit is not what it should be. Lord help me to build a garden that is worthy of You. Thank you Jesus.

  17. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

When you receive the Holy Ghos this scripture is going in detail what’s gonna happen. A burden shall be taken off your shoulders. The yoke shall be destroyed from off thy neck because of the anointing of the Holy Ghost.

  18. “Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it? As if a rod could wield itself against those who lift it up, Or as if a staff could lift up, as if it were not wood!”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭10:15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

No instrument or tool accomplishes it’s purpose without a greater power. If we are boasting in ourselves instead of God, we are putting ourselves in a position to be cut off from being used by God. God doesn’t need us, He wants us! He wants and chooses to use us but we must be sure to give Him all the glory, honor, and praise for what He does through us, because we are only useful to the extent we allow God to use us! We are the instrument, and He is the greater power. Here am I Lord, send me!

  19. 1 What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws.

This pertains to those in authority such as your boss, teachers, parents and ministers, etc. You have to be equal and fair to everyone who is underneath you. People will judge your decisions and realize you aren’t being fair. That’s when you start having push back. Just like your children, you don’t treat one better than the other, and you don’t discipline one more than the other.

  20. Isaiah 10:20-22Amplified Bible (AMP)

    A Remnant Will Return
20 Now in that day the remnant of Israel, and those of the house of Jacob who have escaped, will never again rely on the one who struck them, but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Isreal ,in truth.

There is no one else to lean on .No one reliable like our God!

  21. 20 In that day the remnant left in Israel,
the survivors in the house of Jacob,
will no longer depend on allies
    who seek to destroy them.
But they will faithfully trust the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel. NLT

We must always trust God and believe that he knows what he’s doing, we just have to be patient and let God do what he wants to do in our lives!

  22. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Is your burden heavy? Cast your cares on him and he will make a way.

  23. 15. But wow, are they ever mistaken! Assyria seems to think it has used God. Can an ax take credit instead of the one who swings it? Is a saw better than the one who uses it? Only if a club or rod can move on its own.

We cannot forget to give God the glory when he used us! Its all about his kingdom and who is willing to be used as instruments of God!

  24. iLove to Go Blog
12After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him—for he is proud and arrogant.

This is how the majority of the world reacts to things in life. When the Lord uses us, whether for good or bad, it somehow always puffs us up with pride. The Lord used the Assyrians but they thought it was by their own strength. We must always remain humble and always give God the Glory and the credit.

  25. The remnant of the Jewish people could be viewed as the survivors of the northern kingdoms fall, survivors of Nebuchadnezzar later invasion, or the future people who return to complete trust in God. Whoever they are, the Lord declares they will “truly rely” (vs20) on him. When God brings judgment on his children, his objective is to bring them back to himself. He wants his people to truly rely on him, not Things, or people or accomplishments. Instead of living in pain and frustration, he wants his people to live in, and depend on, him (Jn 15:1-8) and know the peace of righteousness (Heb 12:11). With this in mind we cab receive God’s correction as an act of his love and mercy, releasing us from bondage so we can live free.

  26. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Let God free you indeed. Let his anointing destroy yokes in your life.

  27. 26. And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Mid’-I-an at the rock of O’-reb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of E’-gypt. 27. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Thank you Jesus for many Blessings !!!!

  28. 15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

This verse speaks about the dangers of pride and the uselessness of it. For we are all tools for one side or the other. And what drives the axe? It can do nothing by itself only lay where it has been put. It can only chop by the person using the axe whether the axe is sharp or dull. This verse paints an excellent picture about both the foolishness of and uselessness of pride and lifting ones self up. Just as satan did and was laid to the side himself.

  29. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.(Isaiah 10:27 KJV)

The anointing that God puts on us destroys any yoke the enemy tries to put on us. We simply cannot be yoked to God and the world. We can only serve one. As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord. He will go before us lift burdens from us , he will never leave nor forsake us.
