Isaiah 11

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

  1. Verse 2 AMP “And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and strength, The Spirit of knowledge and of the [reverential and obedient] fear of the Lord—”. This verse reminded me of our memory verse for the month of September in Sunday School:

    Job 28:12, 28 KJV “But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? …..And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”

  2. 4. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

    6. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

    Proverbs 28:2
    Where there is rebellion in a land, there are many petty and contending rulers; But where there is a wise and intelligent leader, peace and order endure. Voice

  3. He will delight in obeying the Lord.
    He will not judge by appearance nor make
    a decision based on hearsay. Isaiah 11: 3 NLT

    These are great attributes and qualities of a wise Person.
    In this generation in which we live with information at our fingertips the lack of wisdom and understanding create so much conflict Among Us.

  4. 1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
    2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

  5. Imagine the day when ‘They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.’ When Jesus comes again the whole earth will finally gain a knowledge of the Lord. It will prevail over mankind as surely as the oceans cover the majority of the surface of the land. We should not wait until that day before we give all that we can unto the Lord, for we already have his perfect example to follow.

    We already have a revelation of who Jesus is! ‘And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;’ If we follow after the same spirit of his example, we’ll remember that ‘he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:’ There is so much that we can learn if we just take the time to follow hard after him! We need to remember that ‘righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.’

    Ali the wisdom, all the understanding, all the counsel we’ll ever need can be had in him. That’s why he came! To give us something greater to follow, to demonstrate that righteous and faithfulness will allow us to be strong! To let us see that in the midst of his strength we can still avoid becoming judgmental if we retain the spirit of meekness, and do it with equity! That means we treat everyone to the same love and compassion that was shown to ourselves! We allow his light to shine through us!

  6. Isaiah 11:10
    “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.”

    Roman’s 15:9-13
    9) And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
    10) And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
    11) And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
    12) And again, E-sa’-ias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
    13) Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

    Thank You JESUS for your Mercy.
    I Rejoice in You.
    I Praise You Lord

  7. Isaiah 11
    10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

    His rest shall be glorious. God once again reaching out to His people.
    Surely will receive Him this time. We are so blessed to be able to experience the rest that the Holy Ghost has given us. To be a part of this glorious church. Jesus came for His people.and then made salvation available to all of us. Jews Gentiles Greek no matter what nation He makes Himself available with the rest this world.seeks. He is glorious His Rest abundant in blessings.

  8. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    I pray lord that you would give me peace through out my day, but I will stay true to your word and follow you in all my ways. Lord do a marvelous work in my life. High School is a battle grounds, but this battle has been won by your grace and power. Your love never fails and never gives up on me nor it never runs out on me. Thank You Jesus!

  9. 1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

    2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

    Thank God for the “rod” that grew out of the stem of Jesse! This is early prophesy of the coming messiah Jesus Christ. Again the word clearly speaks of all of the things Jesus did in his earthly ministry. From having wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might and judging the poor. Jesus was spoken about prophetically by Isaiah than any other old testament writer and his words spoke accurately of a Christ that was over 2000 years away!!

  10. iLove to Go Blog
    Wow, check out these verses…Isaiah 11:1-3 KJV  “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:  (2)  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;  (3)  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears”

    These verses match another prophet’s words written in the book of Zechariah 3:8,9. Check out the comparison.

    Zechariah 3:8-9 KJV  Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.  (9)  For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

    Notice the “seven eyes”? Those seven eyes are explained in Isaiah 11.
    1.Spirit of the Lord
    2.Spirit of Wisdom
    3.Spirit of Understanding
    4.Spirit of Counsel
    5.Spirit of Might
    6.Spirit of Knowledge
    7.Fear of the Lord

    Wow, the Word of God is amazing and you can always back it up through the mouth of two or three witnesses.

  11. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    We are made in his likeness and I believe should seek these same attributes. That we obtain and keep the spirit of knowledge and wisdom. And apart of our every day prayer….have a righteous heart with judgement

  12. 15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
    16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

    It looks like God will make a passage through a body of water like he did for the children of Irsael through the Red Sea when they fled from Pharoah. What a day when the Lord returns and he subdues the wild beasts so that a child could play among them without harm. What an amazing God we serve!

  13. 6-7 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

    A lion eating straw like an ox… can that be correct? Everything in the universe, every plant, animal, rock and person is bound by laws which it has no choice but to obey. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 33:25 that there are laws of nature— “ordinances of heaven and earth”. These laws describe the way God normally accomplishes His will. Normally.

    There are circumstances that fall outside the norm. Death can be reversed, time can stand still and miracles can take place. Is God the only decider of these changes or is He the facilitator? God called Lazarus from the grave. Man froze time; in Joshua 10 we read that Joshua was speaking to the Lord and spoke to the sun and moon to stand still. Miracles are facilitated by man but granted/worked by God. So, there is a balance. We only need to adhere to the balance and understand our place to receive what we need from God.

  14. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    The spirit of the Lord bring wisdom understand knowledge it’s important for to continue to refill myself with the Holy ghost every single day so we can continue have have these things this have ye spoke in ton since you believed?

  15. GOD WILL DO IT AGAIN

    The world cannot understand the ways of our LORD JESUS, because they are not of HIS Kingdom. But, the Church, the Born Again believer, the follower of JESUS should be ready and expecting JESUS to “DO IT AGAIN”.

    Isaiah the prophet declared that GOD has said that he would make a highway and make men GO over dry ground where there are rivers. My FAITH in JESUS is telling me that if HE will do that, then HE will do anything and everything to save HIS own.

    HE will confuse our enemies through PRAISE
    HE will heal the sick and raise the dead through PRAYER
    HE will save the lost through PREACHING
    HE will gather the lost through COMPELLING
    HE will feed the hungry through COMPASSION
    HE will establish HIS Kingdom through HIS WORD
    HE will make a way, where there is no way through HIS LOVE

    All of these expectations teach us to TRUST GOD and never fear.

  16. AMP Then a Shoot (the Messiah) will spring from the stock of Jesse [David’s father], And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.
    2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—
    The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
    The Spirit of counsel and strength,
    The Spirit of knowledge and of the [reverential and obedient] fear of the Lord

    The attributes of the coming Messiah ; wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge and a fear of the Lord.

    Those who are filled with His Spirit should possess the same Christ-like attributes.

    James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

    Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

    Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

    Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  17. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    Hellooooo Jesus just reminded me when I first got the Holy Ghost my cousin was telling me the perks about it.
    He said it’s makes you stronger
    Physically
    Mentally
    It makes you smarter
    Quick to respond
    He told me be prepared though, “this is gonna be the hardest wrestling match you ever have and it’s with the Devil”
    He’s right though, I’ve found myself in situations where I didn’t have a clue what I was gonna say or do and Jesus led me right out
    He’s able
    He’s able
    He’s able
    He’s gonna bring me out
    To be honest it has been a wrestling match since the very FIRST day I got the Holy Ghost
    To be Holy is to not be of this world and when you change in a blink, in 2 seconds, not every one is gonna understand like you do. You’re getting asked to do the same things, told the same jokes… those things aren’t funny anymore though. God gives you a convictious heart! All of a sudden you’re getting understanding of right and wrong unlike before and that can separate you from the world makes sense when you say HOLY Ghost now huh?

    iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  18. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    I believe that if we are truly walking in the ways of the Lord, we should have the same qualities as He does. He is full of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He is slow to anger and quick to forgive ( to name just a few). Lord make me more like You in all of these ways!

  19. 4 He will give justice to the poor
    and make fair decisions for the exploited.
    The earth will shake at the force of his word,
    and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. NLT

    We need to fear the Lord like David did, in the Bible fear doesn’t necessarily mean “fear” it can mean reverence which means that you have high respect for a person, and we need to respect God which can mean we should never take what God has done for us for granted, we should always be very grateful for what he’s done for us, all of the trials and tribulations that he’s brought us out of and all of the blessings given us!

  20. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

  21. What a day that will be. When my Jesus I shall see. When I look upon hos face. The one who saved me by his grace. When he takes me by the hand. And leads me through the promise land. What a day, glorious day that will be.

    The day of peace is coming nearer each day. Man knows not the day or hour. Yet, we must know that it is coming. No more fighting. No more death. No more sorrow. No more pain. No more tears. But joy, laughter, and peace. Yet we can have a glimpse at this when we allow Jesus to fill us. And to overtake us.

  22. The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

  23. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    Every woman and man of God should have these attributes within them. What a great Godly example he was. Lord give me wisdom and understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility.

  24. We have this very same Spirit within us too! “The Holy Ghost”……..,

    2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    “Judge not by sight, but by righteousness!”…….

  25. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

    It is the knowledge of the Lord that will bring peace and be the antidote to hurt and destruction. We can change our world around us by simply sharing Jesus and telling people about Him. It is the knowledge of the Lord that will save.

  26. 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    It is wise not to believe everything you see and hear. Most of the time you are getting just part of the story. leave the judgment up to the one who knows it all. He is the only wise God.

  27. And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

    We must let certain things happen first before God can pour us with His fruits!! Everything that God let’s me go thru is not to harm me by to mold me, give me strength, faith, knowledge, courage, etc. Jesus knows what He has given me to edify His church, the only problem might be is that some of us don’t believe it!!! Jesus help me see how you see me Lord, give me the knowledge, fear, wisdom, counsel, might, and more.

  28. 15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

    God is control of our situations.

  29. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
    3 He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay. (NLT)

    “To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus. All I ask- to be like Him. All through life’s journey from earth to glory, all I ask- to be like Him.”

  30. 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
    3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

    I often hear to pray to have the heart and mind of Jesus Christ. These scriptures gave me something else to pray for and that is to also have the spirit that rested upon Jesus to also rest on me

  31. Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord . He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.
    Isaiah 11:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4 NLT

  32. 1. AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jes’-se, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: 2. And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Thank you Jesus for wisdom, understanding, and knowledge !!!!

  33. Isaiah 11:1 (English Amp) And There shall come forth a Shoot out of stock of Jesse [David’s father], and a Branch out of His roots shall grow and bear fruit.Isaiah 4:2) In that day the Branch of the land shall be excellent and lovely to those of Israel who have escaped. Thank you Jesus for the spirit of knowledge, wisdom, guildness, and strength.

  34. when he comes back, everyone who followed the path Jesus set for him will be with him and it wont be based on nationality or race or skin color or language spoken or political influence or wealth. the rich will duel with the poor because to him we are his children he cherishes. nothing more nothing less.

  35. God brings the most unlikeliest people just like the animals he brings to peace. They will neither harm nor destroy on his holy mountain for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. At the end of days God will bring everything together for his glory. With all this we can possess peace within.
