Isaiah 28

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

  1. 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Our biggest charges and steps aren’t made through long strides and in large quantities, but little by little, brick by brick. WE must continue to make small consecrations everyday and take strongholds one by one. Every trial we face and every demon we face, can and will be taken out by focused prayer and consistent faithfulness. We are stronger together and nothing can tear is apart and hurry is more than we can ourselves. We must do every thing we do together and a little at a time

  2. 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
    KJV

29The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher, and he gives the farmer great wisdom.
    Isaiah 28:29 NLT

The best teacher that you can ever have is GOD himself I believe these people were hugry for GOD and want to know more about doctrine there are people out just like these people that are hugry for the love of GOD the are searching .early this week we we’re cleaning up the store like always I like to talk about things to make the process go faster so we can get out the store quicker she told me I never grow up in a church we go to church a couple times a year so I like ok so she ask me how many times do you go to church I like I try to go anytime they are having church then she said I can never understand what they are saying in church after she said that she started at about the class and other things then she said I like church event I love to go to event that have free food I answer back awesome will we have a big event coming up that will have some of those things it call Western day like I said people are hurgry and they are looking for the ture Gospel of JESUS Christ this is me change I won’t stop until the whole world know
Praying and believe that I will see her at Western day

  3. God has told his people, “Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.” But they would not listen. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭28‬:‭12‬ NLT)

The mercy of the LORD Calls out to us everyday. Why is there continual rejection to His word? My GOD that our nation/world will cry out to you and repent!

  4. AMP – 16 Therefore the Lord God says this,

“Listen carefully, I am laying in Zion a Stone, a tested Stone,
A precious Cornerstone for the [secure] foundation, firmly placed.
He who believes [who trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone] will not [b]be disturbed or give way [in sudden panic].
    17
“I will make justice the measuring line
    And righteousness the mason’s level;
Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies
And waters will flood over the secret [hiding] place.

If our lives our built on the sure foundation, we will not wavier and be tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine or situation that arises in our lives. We know who our Redeemer is and we will deviate based on circumstances.
God is my refuge and strength whom shall I fear? Neither height or depth, things present nor things to come shall separate me from the love of God!

  5. Isaiah 28:16
“Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.”

Romans 9:33 says, “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and a rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
1 Peter 2:6-8 says, “6) Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7) Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8) And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.”

  6. 16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says; See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.

  7. Time to be Weaned

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Time to be weaned . We the church need to realize we are no longer babies. We are capable of helping the new born believers, we cannot get our feelings hurt feeling as if new converts are important.
Just as a new baby comes into the family love does not cease for the other children, they just soon realize their importance in the family. God is pouring out His spirit and as a family we will assist in helping the new born. So yes it is time we ate weaned aND apply all that we have received and stay nourished in the meat of the word. We have it and the world needs it. Our rest us in the Holy Ghost our refreshing comes through being in His service doing His will which is to reach the world.

Isaiah 28:11-12 KJV For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. (12) To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

This is one of Pentecost’s favorite scriptures referring to speaking in tongues. While it is true this scripture is talking about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, it is also true this verse is judgement upon the unbelieving Nation of Israel. Notice the last part of the verse…”yet they would not believe…” This Holy Ghost is rest to us who believe but is judgement upon those who refuse to believe.

  9. GO ENJOY YOUR REST

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Many people are blessed to take vacation, holidays and even down days to rest. However most people do not really rest. They may sleep late, avoid work and even spend some time enjoying entertainment. However, after returning to the normal routines of life, in just a few short days it seems as if there was no vacation and begin to plan for the next vacation.

Here in the writing of Isaiah we find the prophetic answer to this challenging dilemma. With stammering lips and another tongue, GOD speaks to us and gives us rest. This is the promise of REST from the LORD.

We are privileged to know this great power and experience this supernatural rest, when we pray in the SPIRIT. Just to relaxingly PRAY in the SPIRIT and allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us is a powerful BLESSING of REST.

No trip, no hotel, no packing, no unpacking, no money; simply REST by praying in the Holy Ghost and allowing the refreshing POWER of JESUS to flow through us.

    Its SUNDAY!

    GO ENJOY YOUR REST

  10. If we truly desire to have a greater understanding from God, we should look at what the prophet had to say. ‘Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little’ We cannot expect to increase in the knowledge of God overnight. It is not a grand buffet where you come and pick up what is most personally appetizing. True spiritual depth is a gradual building up of everything God has provided. Just like a child it begins with the milk, the simple precepts, and as we absorb his truth we continue to grow wiser and stronger with him as our hunger for him drives us.

Of course, it is not just about head knowledge either, ‘For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.’ We need his holy spirit to guide us into all truth. That has been his plan from the beginning. He provides the rest weary souls are in need of and as his spirit refreshes, it also leads and guides us in our walk with him.

Notice that even though he says this refreshing would come through the stammering lips of his people, there would still be some who would not hear, or receive this refreshing revelation. They’ll stand in their own righteousness and declare that tongues is just not necessary even though God declared it was the means through which he would operate. That’s why we can’t rely upon head knowledge to provide us the direction for our soul. Just let God be God and every man a lier that speaks contrary to his word. Allow his voice to be heard!

  11. Isaiah 28:11 (ENGLISH Amp) No,But ( the lord) will teach the rebels in more humiliating way] by men with stammering lips, and another tongue will He speak to this people (says Isaiah, and teach them His lessons. For this is true and comfort and happiness that you shall give to the weary. For this is the ( true) refreshing to rest in the Holy Ghost. Thank you Jesus.

  12. 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
    “This” is the Holy Ghost
    Drunk off the new wine
    Drunk off the Holy Ghost
    God is good
    God is great
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  13. 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Teach me Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  14. 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak

God has equipped us with the tools to GO and reach this world, to take the knowledge He has given us and teach it to all nations. And the way we will do it is to go one by one, pouring out everything He has given into everyone we come in contact with! Let’s GO and make disciples!

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  15. 9 “Who does the Lord think we are?” they ask. “Why does he speak to us like this? Are we little children just recently weaned?
10 He tells us everything over and over—one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there!” (NLT)

It’s time to grow up – obey when God speaks!

  16. Only the Lord is strong and powerful! His mighty hand will strike them down with the force of a hailstorm or a mighty whirlwind or an overwhelming flood.(Isaiah 28:2 CEV)

There is” NO ONE” like my God. My God is the Almighty God the creator of heaven and earth, with justice and power in his right hand nothing stands in his way.

  17. 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Build on God. Build on his word for it is forever.

  18. 29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

I’m thankful that God is wonderful and excellent. He knows all and sees all yet He is still faithful to love us. My mind can not comprehend how wonderful He is.

  19. Therefore the Lord G od says this, “Listen carefully, I am laying in Zion a Stone, a tested Stone, A precious Cornerstone for the [secure] foundation, firmly placed. He who believes [who trusts in, relies on, and adheres to that Stone] will not be disturbed or give way [in sudden panic].
    ISAIAH 28:16 AMP

The Lord Jesus is our sure foundation. If we put our lives and trust in Him we shall not be moved not about we be afraid for if He is with us who can be against us?

  20. A heavy sledge is never used to thresh black cumin; rather, it is beaten with a light stick. A threshing wheel is never rolled on cumin; instead, it is beaten lightly with a flail. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher, and he gives the farmer great wisdom.
    Isaiah 28:27‭, ‬29 NLT

  21. 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

It’s amazing to know that in the old testament thousands of years before the outpouring of the Holy Ghost already prophesied his own coming. This Holy Ghost is still for everyone in the world!

  22. 5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

Only him can make us shine through difficult moments. Amen

  23. For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. I wonder what would happen if they would have only listened

  24. Verse 16 NLT “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem,[d] a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.[e]”. This verses reminded me of the old gospel song “Cornerstone”:

I lay in Zion for a foundation, a Stone,
I lay in Zion for a foundation, a Stone,
A tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone,
A sure Foundation, a sure Foundation.
A tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone,
he that believeth shall, shall not make haste.
    Wonderful, counselor, the Mighty God,
    The everlasting Father;
    Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace

  25. 26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

Jesus is my counselor and teacher, I do not stray away from his voice. He his the voice of correction to me, and he changed me. He makes me new agin, I’m not the same. I’m on a freight train for Jesus!!! Nothing will hault my path with him that is on a straight path!

  26. 7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

These verses show clearly that even wine clouds our vision. We can’t afford to lose clarity of mind in these last days, it isn’t the rest you seek. Rather, it’s the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues that brings the rest we truly need.

  27. Is one drink a sin?

7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

I have had this debate with many people over the years – much to no avail. I do not drink alcoholic beverages for one major reason: My conduct might cause someone else, who is weaker, to stumble. Paul had a rule of conduct that said he would not eat meat or drink wine or do anything else which would cause a weaker brother to stumble. While we all must stand on our own two feet, if I know that playing a game of pool might bring back memories to one of my brothers/sisters I will refrain from going there. Maybe it is not pool, maybe it is a baseball or football game. As this scripture claims – it can cause us to err in vision and make poor choices.

  28. 28 Grain for bread is easily crushed, so he doesn’t keep on pounding it.
He threshes it under the wheels of a cart, but he doesn’t pulverize it.

We do this as parents, we let our children learn from their mistakes. They may feel like they are being pounded to be crushed by life. As parents, we come in and offer advise. We dont standby and let our children/teenagers get pulverized by life. They still need us for guidance.

  29. 1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

At parties some would wear beautiful crowns or wreaths on their heads. The prophet compares Samaria, capital of the northern kingdom, to a withering wreath. Samaria is a beautiful city, like most of our prosperous cities of today, full with pride of their people. She sits on the hill of a fertile valley. But she is decaying, withering and dying. Assyria destroys the city and takes its people into captivity. All because they first died on the inside spiritually. Pride, greed and sin end in death. Some deaths rot from the inside out. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but she who fears the Lord is to be praised.

  30. 16. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zi’-on fpr a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. 17. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. 18. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. I sing praises to my King Jesus !!!!

  31. “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:9-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Little by little things are revealed to those who seek, To those who speak to the Lord. God will speak to them too. When God speaks through them it will be that they are speaking in tongues.

  32. 5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

May the Lord always be my crown and not pride that I may always keep learning line upon line and precept upon precept.
