Isaiah 30

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:

10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.

15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.

24 The oxen likewise and the young asses that ear the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.

25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

27 Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel.

30 And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

31 For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the Lord shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

  2. Isaiah 30
    Message version
In this passage the people were rebelling. We will encounter this spirit of rebellion. But we must stand up in the power of the Holy Ghost! Though there is rebellion which is as the sin of witchcraft we the Children of God are Light His Light will reflect and penatrates through darkness.
There are people who are still seeking for truth. So take courage and go forth we can make a difference in someone s life . We must live it because we love the truth! We must proclaim for the glory of God.

8-11 So, go now and write all this down.
    Put it in a book
So that the record will be there
    to instruct the coming generations,
Because this is a rebel generation,
    a people who lie,
    A people unwilling to listen
    to anything God tells them.
    They tell their spiritual leaders,
    “Don’t bother us with irrelevancies.”
    They tell their preachers,
“Don’t waste our time on impracticalities.
Tell us what makes us feel better.
Don’t bore us with obsolete religion.
That stuff means nothing to us.
Quit hounding us with The Holy of Israel.”

  3. 15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

  4. “What sorrow awaits my rebellious children “says the Lord .
“You make plans that are contrary to mine . You make alliance not
directed by my Spirit. Thus piling up your sins.
    Isaiah 30:1 NLT

Lord Jesus give us discerning to walk in your will for our lives.

  5. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

We must be so careful not to come or go without the Lords covering and protection in our lives. We must listen to the counsel of the Lord and hear his voice and the voices of those he has put in our lives. If not we will end up spiritually stranded without hope.

  6. 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

I suppose everyone would rather hear only good news. People might enjoy a time where all of their personal choices were correct in the site of the Lord and humanity – pleasing everyone. This is not reality. I enjoy soothing words. However, I much prefer the truth; even at the expense of the words being harsh. I know people who never want to hear harsh words – whether truth or not, just give me uplifting words. These people would rather hear the sun is going to shine tomorrow rather than the choices they made today will cause them pain next week. I don’t get it.

  7. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

If you go through problems and issues your best bet is is to go to the almighty God with all power and authority. He is the counselor and king of kings. If you have the best help go to it.

  8. Even when we sin even when we make mistake GOD he far and just he merciful and gracious his angry only last for a short time you read in this this chapter the people rebelde refuse to listen to GOD and they refuse to listen to the people that GOD sent but at the end GOD was gracious in this to it talk about going to GoD for help he was talking to the people if you ask for help I will listen he saying to be don’t be afraid to ask for help he is King of Kings LORD of LORD he knows everything

  9. “They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies. Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your ‘Holy One of Israel.’” This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies, calamity will come upon you suddenly— like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down. You will be smashed like a piece of pottery— shattered so completely that there won’t be a piece big enough to carry coals from a fireplace or a little water from the well.” This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:10-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  10. WHO IS ADVISING YOU

1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

The disappointment and frustration of the LORD appear in this passage. People seem to seek advice and a covering, but they are choosing who they desire for their covering.

There are dangers in our personal selection of a covering or Pastor.
    1. The selected Pastor may not possess a fatherly connection and therefore result is occasional and selcetive care and concern.
    2. The selected “counsel” may not be aware of all the blind spots in our lives and will not be equipped to cover us.
    3. The advice given nay be the answer the flesh desires, but not the answer the soul needs.
    4. The WORD of GOD says it is a sin upon a sin.

When seeking advice always follow the following pattern.

    1. PRAY to JESUS.
    2. STUDY the WORD of GOD
    3. Seek counsel from YOUR own PASTOR
    4. Study the WORD of GOD given from YOUR own PASTOR and PRAY to JESUS for understanding. Repeat as many times necessary to either accept or understand the answer.

  11. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Too many times we don’t seek counsel because we are afraid to hear the truth and we will have to make changes in our lives accordingly.
The bible says in James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. I feel like at times we know that what were doing isn’t right and we do any ways, like there no consequences.
We can never go wrong with taking our problems to the lord in prayer. We want God perfect will in our lives so we must do whatever it takes no matter how uncomfortable it feels.

  12. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

There is nothing wrong with seeking council, there is something wrong with seeking council from the wrong people! Not everyone has your best interest in mind and if the person you’re going to doesn’t have a relationship with God, how are they suppose to help you with yours? The first thing we must always do is pray about it, if you want to seek more council beyond that, go to your pastor or a leader in the church.

  13. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

Who do you get your counsel from?
In times of struggle we always wanna look for the answers WE wanna hear not necessarily what HE wants US to HEAR. Are you praying and accepting what God wants instead of stacking sin on top of sin.

The Bible says “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:14‬ ‭

So take counsel from the men and women of God that ya been placed in your life.
Wisdom cries out and we learn from our Elders

iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  14. iLove to Go Blog
“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is nothing more frustrating then to attempt give your sons and daughters counsel and they turn around and reject that counsel. What’s worse than that is for them to accept someone else’s counsel above the counsel that you gave…. God is pretty upset here and for good reason. Who is smarter than God? 🤔

  15. Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! (‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭1-2‬ KJV)

It’s pretty crazy to take counsel from the world. And not being covered by the Lord. Without his Holy Spirit where would I be? As a Christian we must close our ears to what is false. Hold on to what you have been taught and what you have learned. Don’t fall for the lies and the ‘feel good’ things of what this world has offered.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭3-4‬ KJV)

  16. This warning could just as easily be spoken to God’s people today. ‘Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:’ What purpose is there in taking counsel from anywhere else… the prophet declares it is done with the express intent of making an allowance for sin. This is a dangerous path to take because eventually you end up in the same place as Israel where they began ‘to trust in the shadow of Egypt!’

Instead of allowing ourselves to fall prey to carnal desires, let us seek to remain faithful in our walk with God. Where we reach that point that ‘thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.’ We don’t just have to imagine this, we have it available to us today! The very voice of his holy spirit can provide the direction for our lives! All we have to do is choose which voice we’re going to allow to dominate our decisions. Let us pray his voice continues to be heard!

  17. Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. psalms 118:8

  18. 17 One of them will chase a thousand of you. Five of them will make all of you flee. You will be left like a lonely flagpole on a hill or a tattered banner on a distant mountaintop.”

Living in sin and being rebellious, yes one will be just like a flagpole without the flag. A pole all by its self represents nothing, only loneliness. A pole with a flag represents power, strength, freedom and victory. We should be like a flag, and represent God in a holy manner. Let others see, who you represent and be proud you do have Jesus within.

  19. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Rebellion is witchcraft. It leads us right into the evil ways of the world. We must caution our ears and our eyes to those around us. Who we allow to speak in our lives. Are they trust worthy? Are they saved? Do their fruits bear good fruit. Kno2 those who you call friend, brother, elder. And unfortunately it is so easy to turn to rebellion when we don’t like something, and go the opposite way. This is why we must have faith in what the man of God, shepherd of the local assembly says. God will keep him accountable. God will lead him and direct him. The spirit will show what is true and false. So be careful not to let rebellion in your heart.

  20. Isaiah 30:1 (English Amp) Woe To the rebellious children, says the Lord Who take counsel and carry out a plan , but not Mine, and who make a league and poor out a drink offering, but not of My Spirit, this adding sin to sin. Where would we be if we didn’t have the Holy Ghost ? I been trying to tell my children (Tommy and my daughter Ashley my testimony about what God has done for me. There not listening to me, It like that dont want to hear the truth. I told them that the things in the world or not worth it. But a life with Jesus is worth waiting for. I pray that God drawns them by his spirit.

  21. 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.
5 They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

There is no other person strong enough to guide, protect, provide, and save us from our enemy luke Jesus, but most of the time we people including Christians, we allow ourselves to be deceived by different things that take us away from heavenly father. Needless to say that this kind of choice has never let anyone to a victory.

    However,

15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

Our Lord is loving, patient and gracious with us because he loves us and wants us to be with permanently. The love he has for us is immesurable that he sent his only son for me and you. There’s no other power that can save us. Praise him.

  22. People who try to make a move with counsel from God, open themselves us for the devil to deceive them. God’s word gives us the instructions we need to live a holy life. We need the word of God to lead and guide us each and every day.

  23. 12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

The best way to be directed of God and avoid havoc in ones life is to seek God first and not lean on your own understanding

  24. We need God every minute of every hour every day. You cant pick and choose when you want to take counsel from God. The word says you are to take guidance from your pastor. God is faithful.

  25. God serves a warning to his people that rebellion will have a high cost. They do whatever they want whenever they want with no regard to God’s law or righteousness. Sin has become a way of life for then, what they don’t realize is they are living with a spirit of death, for the end of send is death. A life cut off from God is separation from life. In an attempt to wake his people up out of their death slumber he brings judgment. What they have placed their trust, time, talent and treasure in will fail them and hopefully when they realize this it’s not too late for them to turn to God. He wants to help correct their path to live for him. God wants them to come out of darkness and welcomes them into his marvelous light.

  26. This is the Lord’s message for his rebellious people: “You follow your own plans instead of mine; you make treaties without asking me, and you keep on sinning.(Isaiah 30:1 CEV)

The Lord our God trys to warn his people by there foolish choices that they make. God trys to tell his people that they follow there own will and put there own time and treasures in what they want and not trust in God, but trust in the world, the world will leave them empty and broken. God will heal their wounds and can use them for his will when they submit themselves unto him. What the world has tried to destroy with evil the Lord can change for good and life everlasting.

  27. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

Who or what is our covering? It is so important to be covered in every aspect of our lives. Many times we do things without thinking about what the outcome will be or what the results will be, and when it’s too late we realize that we should have sought counsel before doing those things. Then we end up out on our own without the covering of our pastor or the covering of the Lord. If God’s not it, I don’t want any part of it.

  28. 11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

We can be so caught in oppression that we can’t see how deep we are, is in the deepest abyss of desperation from deception and be so heavily covered in sin and yet at the same time believe to be are in the right.

  29. 8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord

What will be written of us?

    2 Corinthians 3:2
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

As we live life daily and the people around us read our story what will they read? What will they say about us? I know that I do not want rebellion to be the one thing I’m remembered by. I want to passionately live God and seek to do His will laying up treasures in heaven.

  30. So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.
    Isaiah 30:18 NLT

  31. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

    • Lord compel me to look for your counsel. Your counsel is the best counsel and can only be given by you. Sometimes we prefer to tell others our problems instead of telling you and asking help from you!! Lord I seek you and need you daily!!!

  32. 22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.

In order to grow spiritually, we have to let go of our wicked ways, addictions, and anything else in our lives that displeases Jesus.

  33. The beginning of verse 15 in the CEV says “The holy Lord God of Israel had told all of you, “I will keep you safe if you turn back to me and calm down. I will make you strong if you quietly trust me.”……. Trust in the Lord as verse 18 CEV says “The Lord God is waiting to show how kind he is and to have pity on you. The Lord always does right; he blesses those who trust him.”

  34. Verse 1 and 9 label the people as rebellious. In verse one they are morally (i.e. spiritually) trying to cover and protect themselves with their sin and faulty leaders. Verse 9 they then physically begin to shut out God by not wanting to hear or see what God is doing through others. Rebellion starts in the heart before it becomes physically evident!

  35. 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

There are many voices today that people listen to but the one voice we must hear is the Lords…and he may be speaking to us in that still small voice. Can we hear him?

  36. “And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So thankful for the Lords grace and mercy in my life. I didn’t know where I’d be. He is worthy of all my praise. I’m completely indebted to Him.

  37. 8. Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: 9. That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: 10. Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!

  38. 3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

Whenever I read these I wonder how it is not just for the Egyptians but true today. How many has the trust in the shadow of America be their confusion. And how many times have America helped a place or region in vain? How history repeats itself. May out nation learn that is strength is to sit still and lies in the Lord.
