Isaiah 31

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.

As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.

And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

  1. DANGEROUS ARROGANCE

1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

We are wise to step back and behold how good GOD has been to us. Elevations, Pormotions, Advancements, when granted by man are dangerous and have the potential for arrogance and pride to rise up in our heart. Beginning to trust in what GOD has BLESSED us with is tragedy in the first degree.

We must NEVER place more confidence in the THINGS of GOD than we do the GOD of THINGS.

The LORD declares we are in danger if when we fail to LOOK to GOD and neither SEEK the LORD.

Seek and Search for HIS path today. The path of the LORD is ordered by HIS WORD. Lets GO in humility today and see how the LORD will lift us up.

  2. 1 O how bad it will be for you who look to the south to Egypt for help and depend on her horses, Who trust in its many chariots and fix your hopes on its strong drivers. Yet you do not look to the Holy One of Israel for relief or even bother to consult Him. Voice

    Psalm 20:
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.

6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. KJV

  3. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

It is really easy to look back into the familiar places and seek out to “help” ourself from there, instead of completely trusting in GOD!!! When this occurs, we do more harm than good and not only unto ourself but unto the ones that look unto us as examples……we must live The GOSPEL…….

  4. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
Trusting in the fleeting strength, might, power and knowledge of this world will not keep you. Everything today that is strong, state of the art,the most advanced, will be out dated, useless,,broken, rusted and of no use tomorrow.
God’s strength, knowledge, might, power, provision never fails and never becomes obsolete. How much better to trust in Him and let Him see you through!

  5. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

In time of trouble the Lord is the first that we should turn to for help. He can guide and direct us as to what to do. With God nothing is impossible, but men will fail.

  6. I Need Help!
When I see storms approaching in my life, one that is too big for me to handle, where do I turn for help? On whom or what do I rely?
The prophet Isaiah said, Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.
    Isaiah 31:1

God wants us to look to Him and call on Him for help. It’s not a sign of weakness to ask God for help; it’s a sign that we trust that He will come to our aid. When we call, we believe He will answer.

Psalm 121:2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

  7. 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horseman, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.

Believers today must be careful not to commit the same sin as Judah. We must put our faith in God and seek him daily

  8. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

Its easy when you have money and possessions to have confidence in those things and to loose trust in the Lord. There is nothing wrong with being blessed in this world or having “things” but when we trust more in those “things” than we trust God we set ourselves up for failure.

  9. Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand

1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in
chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

We must hold on to God’s unchanging hand. His promises are sure. Egypt this world has nothing to offer. No matter where you serk help in this world ,no matter how strong the source nay appear remember without God all will fail. God Faith must be the foundation of everything. Hold to His hand let Him lead the, way. If what you are seeking has no regards to Truth,Then we better run and keep holding to God’s hand.

  10. What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt help, trusting their
horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies
instead of looking to the LORD, THE HOLY ONE of Israel.
    Isaiah 31:1 NLT

  11. 6 Though you are such wicked rebels, my people, come and return to the Lord. 7 I know the glorious day will come when each of you will throw away the gold idols and silver images your sinful hands have made.

Amén! I was an idol worshipper 10 years ago and my whole life I would wonder why do I have to pray to a “saint” if I can just tell God? Why do I have to confess to someone I don’t even know if he doesn’t even help me he just listens? I never understood the reason of asking for help to someone else but God. I never understood so many things the Catholics do, i would just do them because my mom made me do it. So when the doctrine was explained to me 10 years ago it all made sense, it all came together and I felt that I had been living a lie my whole life. It was a revelation of all those queestions and doubts I had my whole life. Now I pray to the God all mighty powerful redeemer that is the only one that can help me. Thank You Jesus for breaking those chains of idolatry in my life Jesus!!

  12. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!
2 Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

Just yesterday I talked with a friend of mine. They took matters into their own hands in a situation. Now this friend is a Holy Ghost filled person. Yet they were so hurt, that they thought it best to take vengeance. In Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
What this means is we do not have too stoop down to this world’s level. We have God almighty that will fight on our behalf. If there is anything that I have learned in the 26 years on this earth, that is in the end the truth comes out. So no matter what you are going through stay strong, fear God, and let Him fight on your behalf.

  13. 1 What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. (NLT)

Summary of the chapter is in this verse, the rest tells details of what awaits. We can’t take our eyes off God because that causes distraction and that can lead to taking out trust out of God and into others – essentially leading ourselves to rebellion just because we find something or someone more worthy of our time than God. Look to and seek the Lord!

  14. 6 Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

Isaiah tells us not to trust in the arm of the flesh because they are not as powerful as the arm of God. Rather turn to the Lord God of Israel, leaving your idols. We have many idols today that replace God: fishing, sports, entertainment etc. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

  15. Isaiah 31:4-5
    4) For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
    5) As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

Though others may put their trust in the things of this world or in other men, I will put my Trust in God. For when I do, He will Fight for me, Defend me, Deliver me, and Preserve me.

My TRUST is in You JESUS!

  16. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

Let’s do a lit bit of problem solving here between 1 and 3

3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

So if Egypt was Of sin then the Egyptians would be like the worldly people/carnality. If we’re in need of guidance are we seeking HE first are we seeking the kingdom for guidance or are we seeking the world for what our flesh desires. We see in verse one what the world is truly about for their horses are flesh and the Egyptians do NOT seek the Lord.
Again careful who you bring to YOUR table!

iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  17. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

None is more capable than God to answer your needs! When seeking for answers you must first seek after Him!!

  18. iLove to Go Blog
“…so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭31:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Lord will fight for his people. Even when His people are not always in the right, God will defend his bride. Let’s all worship the Lord in the spirit of humility

  19. What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord , the Holy One of Israel. In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers.
    Isaiah 31:1‭-‬2 NLT
Turst in the LORD and not on human way the Lord knows what best people failed but GOD never failed because he always faith

  20. Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! ALWAYS TRUST THE LORD

  21. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

It is easy to become distracted and to look to our natural resources, instead of staying focused on the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the one who provides us with our resources, Jesus, when trials come. But if we can manage to keep our eyes fixed, when these trials come, we shall see, He is our Help, especially in our very present time of need…

  22. In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against the wicked and against their helpers.

But this is what the Lord has told me: “When a strong young lion stands growling over a sheep it has killed, it is not frightened by the shouts and noise of a whole crowd of shepherds. In the same way, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will come down and fight on Mount Zion. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will hover over Jerusalem and protect it like a bird protecting its nest. He will defend and save the city; he will pass over it and rescue it.” (‭Isaiah‬ ‭31‬:‭2, 4-5‬ NLT)

  23. 5 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies will hover over Jerusalem and protect it like a bird protecting its nest.

Just like parents, physically we will protect our home against any enemy. We will defend our home no matter. If we follow God, he in return will spiritually protect our home from evil. God and his army of angels will protect us from Satan at all times.

  24. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

I am thankful that serve a God that I can trust. Others may trust in many things but I trust in God and Him alone. The strength and ability of others cannot compare to the God that we serve. He is the one that is able to exult us or humble us when needed.

  25. When everything in the world around you appears to be working against you, when you begin to wonder whether you need to give in, if perhaps the separation is just too great for practicality, it’s good to keep this passage in mind. ‘Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.’

Regardless of the opposition, they too are just men. If you choose to take the low road and seek the help of other men over the help of God, the prophet declares you have chosen flesh over spirit. When God’s spirit decides to move against those strongholds of the flesh, both the strongholds and all those they helped will be brought down. That is a mighty claim, but we serve a mighty God! It’s not worth disappointing him to appease anyone in this world. It’s not worth disappointing him by seeking help from the very ones who are opposed against everything his people represent.

The world doesn’t need an example of the needy who run to the strong when they need help, they already see that every day. They need to see someone they thought was weak, someone who knows themselves that they are weak, and see them prevail because of their complete reliance and trust in a God who continues to provide for their every need every day! And who returns the glory and praise to God regardless of the apparent situation!

  26. My help comes from the Lord

5 As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

Just like a father defending his children, God looks out for us. A father will let the situation go on for a while to see how the son will handle the trouble but when it becomes too much for him, the father steps in and shuts the situation down. It has always been and always be that God will defend his children. We have to do our part but God will always do his.

  27. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!
2 Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

Be careful for those that trust in their own strength and wisdom, that will surely be a trap and their open bondage

  28. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

We owe it all to the Lord. From the air that we breathe to the health and strength we have it all comes from Him. While the Lord will use people or whatever means he pleases to help and bless us it is Him to whom we should always seek.

  29. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

Egypt is a type of the world, so woe to them that go after the world and the pleasures of sin. They look for those things to satisfy the emptiness inside, instead of allow Jesus to fill that void in their lives.

We must seek the Lord while He can be found. Just as the Lord turned His back on Israel and turned to the Gentiles, there will come a day when those that want nothing to do with the Lord will want to find Him but it will be too late.

  30. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

Lord, may we always keep our eyes on You. May we trust in You with all of our hearts. May we learn not on our own understanding. Lord, e bless Your name!

  31. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

Lay up your treasures in heaven not in this world. The things of this wprld is temporal. Take this whole world and give me Jesus!

  32. 4 For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.

5 As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

He will defend us from evil, and he will protect us. Praise the Lord for his MERCY and Grace.

  33. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

We get nothing out fb backsliding. Let’s stay focused on JEsus.

  34. Vereses 6-7 MSG “Repent, return, dear Israel, to the One you so cruelly abandoned. On the day you return, you’ll throw away—every last one of you —the no-gods your sinful hands made from metal and wood.” So many have lost their way and are seeking or following false gods that they have put their trust in. They need to know that they can repent and return to the One True God….Jesus Christ.

  35. “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭31:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There’s no god like our God! No one can compare to Him. He is Holy! He is my God and my King and early will I seek Him!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

  36. 7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.

I cast out any idols trying to build themselves in my life, but I love Jesus too much , and he is the one true living God! Amen

  37. 1. WOE to them that go down to E’-gypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Ho’-ly One of Is’-ra-el, neither seek the LORD! GLORY TO GOD !!!!

  38. 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

Woe under to them that trust in men and nations for safety rather than God. For nations no matter how powerful can fail as history shows even up to America. No matter how strong those armies of men, horses or machines can not save me. So I don’t put my trust in them but the one who made them.
