Isaiah 48

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is his name.

I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

22 There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.

  1. Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

The Jews valued themselves on descent from Jacob, and used the name of Jehovah as their God. They prided themselves respecting Jerusalem and the temple, yet there was no holiness in their lives. If we are not sincere in religion, we do but take the name of the Lord in vain. By prophecy they were shown how God would deal with them, long before it came to pass. God has said and done enough to prevent men’s boasting of themselves, which makes the sin and ruin of the proud worse; sooner or later every mouth shall be stopped, and all become silent before Him. We are all born children of disobedience. Where original sin is, actual sin will follow. Does not the conscience of every man witness to the truth of Scripture? May the Lord prove us, and render us doers of the word.

  2. Isaiah 48

    See, I have refined you, though not as silver;
I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
11 For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this.

This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commands,
your peace would have been like a river,
your well-being like the waves of the sea.

The Refiners Fire is not to destroy us. In the midst of the refining you may feel that God has turned His back on you. So untrue. Some will leave and not allow the refining to be finished. But God says if only you had paid attention or if only you had stayed put during the refining touch of His hand then peace would have flowed like a river. Not to hurt us,not to destroy us but to burn out the impurities of this life. There is so much more in God then we can really imagine. All He wants is for us to trust Him. He is God and does want what is best for us. Don’t be weary in serving Him. Serve with gladness for His rewards go beyond human understanding peace like a river and we’ll being like the waves of the sea.
Reflect His Glory to everyone so that they too will want what we have.

  3. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

    Zechariah 13:9 ESV

And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”

    1 Peter 1:7 ESV

So that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

    1 Peter 5:10 ESV

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

    Psalm 66:10 ESV

For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.

    Psalm 66:10-12 ESV

For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs; you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance

As humans we often fear what we don’t understand. The Word of God is enlightening us to the fact that the fire is not to destroy us but to redefine us.

Scripture after scripture reassures us that there is life and abundance after the fire. So, we should not fear the fight we are in but endure because God will not leave us in the fire alone nor is the fire here to destroy us but perfect us.

Isaiah 48:18 KJV  O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

WOW…this is Awesome! We have an amazing promise from the Lord! All we have to do is follow His commandments and we will have unbelievable peace. This is too good to be true, nope. All God’s promises are true and you can take them to the bank. I speak peace right now over Western Day Setup in Jesus Name.

  5. 5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

We must not forget that everything comes from God. He is the reason we live, move and have our being. The enemy will try to get us to fail continuously, but the bible says greater is he that is within us. I believe that whatever I’m going through, God is able to bring me out.

  6. Verse 20 NLT “Yet even now, be free from your captivity! Leave Babylon and the Babylonians.[b] Sing out this message! Shout it to the ends of the earth! The Lord has redeemed his servants, the people of Israel.[c]” It’s time to shout with a voice of triumph and show everyone the love of our God, for there is “Room in the House of God for Everyone”!!

  7. Isaiah 48:10
“Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”

2 Cor. 4:17, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

  8. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Refined and chosen – often we have to endure a “heated” period to be prepared for what s next. Just like anything else that first endures refining and sitting in a furnace, it has to be prepared before it can be used – can’t have bowls of clay that are deformed or still soft and bending, they couldn’t be used without getting damaged. When you wonder “why” in the midst of some heat, just remember God has a greater plan. He has chosen you, he is refining you and preparing you for what is next.

  9. 17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

  10. I will rescue you for my sake— yes, for my own sake! I will not let my reputation be tarnished, and I will not share my glory with idols! Have any of your idols ever told you this? Come, all of you, and listen: The Lord has chosen Cyrus as his ally. He will use him to put an end to the empire of Babylon and to destroy the Babylonian armies.
    Isaiah 48:11‭, ‬14 NLT

GOD love us and care but before GOD can move like he wants to we have to put aside something things that that’s block us from the glory of GOD I remember I has to get rid of some hours at work so I could go to church and I was ok with that because knowing God have a relationship with him is much more important then having extra money

  11. GO IN PEACE

17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

JESUS is the Prince of PEACE, the GOD of PEACE and HE alone possesses the PEACE of GOD. The desire of the LORD is to share with and teach us of HIM and HIS benefits. GOD desires us to PROSPER and BE in HEALTH.

If we will allow JESUS permission to LEAD us HE will LEAD us to VICTORY, PEACE and BLESSING. The WORD of GOD, The SPIRIT of GOD and the Man of GOD will TEACH and LEAD us the way we should GO.

However, if we are distant, disobedience or dishonest we will find ourselves lacking and lost.

22 There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.

GO follow JESUS today and LEAD someone to GO with you!

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo

  12. [Isa 48:22 KJV] 22 [There is] no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
    Peace=Shalom- completeness, soundness, welfare, peace
    completeness (in number)
    safety, soundness (in body)
    welfare, health, prosperity
    peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment
    peace, friendship
    of human relationships
with God especially in covenant relationship
    peace (from war)
    peace (as adjective)
The peace of God encompasses more than just peace of mind, it affects every part of us and those around us! It passes all understanding and keeps our hearts and minds! It is something the wicked will never have!!!!!!

  13. I will rescue you for my sake- yes, fir my own sake! …

When our lives are not Victoria’s and mighty the Lord do not receive any Glory

  14. I announced it to you before it occurred…. From now on I will announce new things to you, hidden things that you have not known.
    Isaiah 48:5‭-‬6 HCSB

God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes His mind. Does He speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?
    Numbers 23:19 HCSB

I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: My plan will take place, and I will do all My will.
    Isaiah 46:10 HCSB

The Word of the Lord is established. He knows the end from the beginning. Therefore, His promises cannot fail. Long before He spoke His promise to you, He already saw it in eternity. Every promise is made according to the divine foreknowledge of God. You can hold fast to every Word He has ever uttered to you in secret; though it may seem delayed, it cannot fail but to come to pass. God is faithful!

  15. 3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

    4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

I find it interesting that God in His sovereignty would try to prove to the people that He Is God almighty. He says that he showed them before it came to pass just to prove to them that he was the one true God. He did so because He knew that the people were obstinate and stubborn. Let’s make sure that we don’t posses that type of attitude towards God. He deserves our trust and faith in everything He does.

  16. 5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

6 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

The Lord has an appointed harvest that was created in the beginning for this region and we, POFW are striving to arrive at the place where we are ready for harvest to come to pass. God is positioning us every service a little closer to the place that He can open up the windows of Heaven and pour that magnitude of harvest/revival upon us. We must not get weary in well do, we will reap if we faint now and continue pressing toward the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.

  17. 16. Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spir’-it, hath sent me. 17. Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Ho’-ly One of Is-ra-el; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. Thank you JESUS !!!!

  18. So many people in this world seek a peace they cannot seem to find and yet God says ‘O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:’ It’s right there in their grasp and yet they miss it because they refuse to consider the need for righteousness that goes along with it. Note we’re not even talking holiness yet, just the righteous acts involved in the setting aside of sin. They somehow think that if they search far enough they will be able to find peace while evading righteousness, but God says: ‘There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.’ If we truly want to enjoy the fruit of his kingdom, there are some choices we’re going to have to make, some priorities we’re going to have to set, some things we’re going to have to lay aside… and he is so worth it all!

  19. 9 For my name’s sake Will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut the not off. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver, I have chosen the in the furnace of affliction. Thank you Jesus for your mercy and your saving grace.

  20. Josiah: 17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
“by the way that thou shouldest go” Sometimes God may lead us a certain direction and we may wonder why. We may wonder why we have to go through this and that. Maybe God wants to see how we will respond or wants us to be used. The way we may want to go may not always be the way God wants us to go. However if we let the LORD GUIDE OUR THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS (the way we go) then we can GO in the way we should go.

  21. 3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

God is always giving us a chance to learn his ways and to seek wisdom and direction. He is so mighty but be he cares about his people!

  22. “Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭48:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Instruction and obedience
At the beginning of Acts it says
“The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

To be a Christian is to be Christ like, so the instructions in the entire bible are to be followed to really be a true Christian. When people ask what I believe in I first show them what Jesus done and taught like it states at the beginning of Acts. Then I begin to show them and teach them the oneness of God and how JESUS is LORD OVER ALL.
At that point their eyes are surely opening and it’s time to get down to business.

    Let’s GO in Jesus Name!
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  23. 14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

  24. 17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

  25. 12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldean
15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

Assemble yourselves. He hath loved us. He is the first and the last. God has this all under control. No matter what comes our way. We belong to the Lord.

  26. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction

It is for a purpose that we go and endure through life and it’s circumstances. Nothing is in vain and God will use it all and get glory out of it.

  27. V21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the feserts: he caused the waters to floe5 out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

It is the will of GOD that rivers of living waters should flow out of us.
Be filled with the Holy Ghost.

  28. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

    Where he leads he provides.
