Isaiah 50

Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

Behold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

  1. Verse 10 ERV “People who respect the Lord also listen to his servant. That servant lives completely trusting in God without knowing what will happen. He really trusts in the Lord’s name and depends on his God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. [a]In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

  2. Trust in the Name of the Lord
Isaiah 50:10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in the darkness, and hath not light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

One day there will be no more darkness.
The Book of Revelation —the book of the Bible that describes to us things we have yet to experience –tell us that in heaven”there will be no more might. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light”

Revelation 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither there light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

We will be with the Lord, who is light

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

  3. Isaiah 50:2-3
    2) Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish sticketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
    3) I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Our God is all Powerful. He can do anything He wants to at any time.
One thing is for sure, “BEHOLD, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save;…” (Is. 59:1) HE Is Our REDEEMER and DELIVERER. HE Has The POWER To SAVE Us!

  4. 9. See here, the Lord, the Eternal, helps me-who could possibly win against me? All my accusers will wear out like a ratty old moth-eaten shirt.

    1 John 4:4
My children, you have come from God and have conquered these spirits because the One who lives within you is greater than the one in this world. Voice

  5. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Everything be done in excellence!!! IN JESUS NAME!!!

  6. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

  7. 11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

We are the light and not of darkness, and with light it has no connections with darkness. Our lives should be the light to our jobs, class rooms, and many other things. Our God is in control and nothing is impossible! He is steadfast and unmovable.

  8. “Listen carefully, all you who kindle your own fire [devising your own man-made plan of salvation], Who surround yourselves with torches, Walk by the light of your [self-made] fire And among the torches that you have set ablaze. But this you will have from My hand: You will lie down in [a place of] torment.”
    ‭‭ISAIAH‬ ‭50:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We can’t rely on our own flesh. We must trust in our Lord and Savior. Self righteousness, self-made, self-taught, man-made will not last against the Almighty God. We must decrease he must increase. It has to come. Any Christians walk where we lose the “self” identity and we become engulfed in the identity of Christ alone. Not my will but Thine be done as it is in heaven let it be here on earth. Lord, let your throne be established in my life. Rule and reign in my in mind and heart.

  9. Isaiah 50
The Power He Has Given Each of Us
4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

Horses, momma rabbit giving birth a pig in a dress, hay rides ,cake walks, games, brisket, sweet tea,and hard hard work. Yet God took a simple setting so that we His tongue could speak, that we His ears could hear and we His hands could touch. There were weary people all around us,there were hurting people, there were hungry people who never have brisket on their table and to think that through our Pastor and his leadership and the power if God we were given such a great opportunity to touch the weary with a word. God has given us the power in due season thus us the season of harvest for the church. We must work for the harvest is ready. We have the Power of the Holy Ghost and we must use it.

  10. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

Verse 1 tells us we got ourselves into trouble because of our sins and transgressions, but the Lord says to trust in him. He declares he has the power to deliver and redeem, to rebuke the storm and winds. With him willing to help us, what do we have to fear? I trust in the Lord God for the harvest in this region, for backsliders to come home. He is able!

  11. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

All of you—tribal leaders, elders, officers, all the men of Israel—are standing today in the presence of the Lord your God.
    Deuteronomy 29:10 NLT
GOD put leaders in our lives to help not to hurt

  12. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Thousands of years before Jesus ever stepped foot on the earth His death down to the very details was prophesied. This verse reminds me of the price that Jesus paid for our sins and the magnitude of His sacrifice. That’s why we love Him., because he first loved us! As Romans 5:8 tells us…

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  13. 4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

Maybe we are afraid to tell someone about God because we don’t know what to say. Or maybe we’re doing everything correctly but nothing is happening. We do not have the power to open someone’s heart to God—but He can. One of my grandfather’s sayings was to remember that God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. It is our duty to share the good news of God with this world. He does not send us unequipped.

Abraham took what he had (sacrifice, fire materials) and believed in God. Isaac asked where the offering was and Abraham shared his faith in God – He will supply. God only requires us to use the tools He has already given us and to trust in Him to supply the rest.

  14. GO WITH HELP FROM GOD

7 For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

We are often tempted to take control of situations and attempt to correct them. However we learn here from the prophet that when we GO WITH HELP FROM GOD that we will not be confounded and we will be determined and not ashamed.

In our world many people seek help from temporary sources and end up in need again.

Where do we GO for HELP?

Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

GO to GOD for HELP and then GO WITH HELP FROM GOD.

GO to GOD in prayer with every situation.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

  15. 5 The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
You can see when someone isn’t obedient to what Hod has put in someone’s ear. Simple. They don’t prosper.
Now on the other note when you notice someone being obedient you see growth, you see prosperity, you see the Lords will coming in Play like it should.
It’s that step in faith and allowing your ears to be opened to the voice of the Lord that’s what brings you out. That’s what saves you from the adversary, that’s what keeps you from harm, that’s what keeps you from backsliding.
Remember who your Shepard is, who your Pastor is. There has been times where I’ve had meetings and I’m receiving revelation from the word given through my Pastor by none other the Lord himself.
So if we would allow ourselves to LISTEN
We will see ourselves GrOwing in his KinGdOm.

iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  16. Why was no one there when I came? Why didn’t anyone answer when I called?
…The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will. The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. I have not rebelled or turned away.
    Isaiah 50:2‭, ‬4‭-‬5 NLT

Morning by morning He comes; He calls to His people. He desires to impart wisdom, comfort, strength, deliverance, and direction. He desires that we would take these gifts and minister them to others. If we are floundering…if we are purposeless or without the passion for ministry…it is because we do not show up daily to listen to our God. If we are being carried away with the bondage of sin, it is because we have turned away from His reproof. He will leave to their own devices those who do not have a heart to daily meet with, listen to, and obey Him. Those who make a habit of daily prayer, however, will always be a blessing to others.

  17. “The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭50:4 NLT

Lord anoint my words to speak of Your love, to speak kindness and encouragement to the broken hearted. Give me understanding and wisdom to follow Your will!

  18. 4 The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will. (NLT)

Equip me God, that I may have daily understanding, daily guidance, and daily widsom for not only my life, but for others to see You through me.

  19. The Lord God hath given me the tounge of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. Thank you Jesus for knowledge.

  20. Isaiah 50:6,7,8,9,10,11

“he gave his back to who struck him”

If you were to walk into a school and ask someone or your self today would you willingly let someone strike you on the back cause of what you stand for or believe ? the answer would most likely be no or with a similar reaction.
But notice this is a clear description of how God made his ultimate sacrifice.
This is displayed greatly in this chapter. He was willing to give up his “name”
his “body” his “love” “desire” all for what ? it was all for you for us.
If he wanted to he could squash you like a bug on the ground, but he chose to sacrifice himself so that we may have freedom .
So the next time you feel like hurting someone that hit you do to your “belief” or wanting to get that “girl” or when some one calls you a name that offends you or maybe someone suggest something and you get your little wimpy feelings hurt & you don’t like it well guess what Jesus sacrificed everything for you , WE must be willing to sacrifice for him and for whats best .
a lot of people today are bound, lost, hurt , depressed and lonely, only cause there not willing to sacrifice self , name , and pride cause they are not willing to sacrifice or let go of there pain.

“let go and let God “

  21. The debt that we cannot repay.

1 Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

    Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Sin is the debt that we cannot repay. We all have this debt. But thanks be to God that He came down, robed himself in flesh and died on the cross to pay our debt. If we truly are thankful for this, than why is it so hard for us to live and serve God? As it was in the biblical days, men who were indebted to someone, became their servant until their debt was paid or if it became a year of jubilee.
Now I know what my debt is, and I have chosen to serve God with everything that I have and am. I own my life to him because he gave His life for my Debt of Sin.

  22. God forbid this should ever be spoken of God’s people today: ‘Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?’ We are not only here to receive God’s blessings, but to accomplish his will! That’s why we need to be ready at all times! We have been given his power within us to accomplish his will. What a shame it would be to be granted such authority and yet fail to accomplish his will, with the very power he made available to do so.

I am thankful for every blessing of God, but my prayer is for his will and direction. I’m not standing with open hands, my hands are available to do whatsoever he desires. When he calls, I want to hear and obey! When he directs, I want the faith to respond! I know he’s redeemed me, I know he’s delivered me, and my prayer is that my walk is such that he can continue to use me! Any task he places in my hands is important! Any thing he speaks is worth hearkening unto! Any time he desires me to be there I want to be ready and willing… because he’s always been there for me!

  23. 4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
God has given us this precious truth not to hide among ourselves but to continually tell all about his saving grace and mercy. I pray that we never every get to comfortable with what we have and lose sight of how precious the saving grace of Jesus is. Let us continually have a burning fire within us to tell all those who will hear, to show the love of Jesus with our words and deeds and to be a testimony of Jesus in all we do.

  24. But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires. This is the reward you will receive from me: You will soon fall down in great torment. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭50‬:‭11‬ NLT)

  25. Hannah: “9 Behold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.” The Lord is my strength and without him I am nothing. I could not live without him and have strength. He is the one who gives me strength and he is my provider. No one is able to stand against the Lord and win. This is why when we walk with the Lord no one will be able to stand against us. You have to personally choose to walk away from him. Nothing can make the choice for you. The ways of the Lord will always bring victory but for the victory there has to be work in order to have it. This is why we work for the Lord. When we don’t work for him, then we are not serving him. It is my desire to always continue to grow stronger in the Lord and continue to work for him. He is an awesome God and every day I am so thankful for everything that he has done in my life.

  26. 6 I offered my back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard. I did not hide my face from mockery and spitting.

How difficult this must be for just about anyone to endure the pain that someone afflicts on them. Not only physical pain, but insulting words someone may tell you. Then to turn and say, “I forgive you”. Yes, Jesus forgave humanity for the pain he suffered and the insults. Can we also do the same, when it happens to us. Through prayer, forgiveness and peace can one forgive another.

  27. Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the Lord and rely on your God.
    Isaiah 50:10 NLT

  28. 4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

We become frightened while approaching the unchurch . We have to realize its not about us and rhe coming of the loed is quickly approaching. Pray for wisdom, study the word you dont know where or who God will lead you to.

  29. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

Trust and fear go hand in hand, I mean admirable fear, a regard for who is in charge, when we have a regard for the almighty, it becomes much easier to over him because we trust in his name

  30. Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Those who have professed to be people of God, and seem to be dealt severely with, are apt to complain, as if God had been hard with them. Here is an answer for such murmurings; God never deprived any of their advantages, except for their sins. The Jews were sent into Babylon for their idolatry, a sin which broke the covenant; and they were at last rejected for crucifying the Lord of glory. God called on them to leave their sins, and prevent their own ruin. Last of all, the Son came to his own, but his own received him not. When God calls men to happiness, and they will not answer, they are justly left to be miserable. To silence doubts concerning his power, proofs of it are given. The wonders which attended his sufferings and death, proclaimed that he was the Son of God, Matthew 27:54.

  31. [Isa 50:4-5 NIV] 4 The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, WAKENS MY EAR TO LISTEN like one being instructed. 5 The Sovereign LORD has OPENED MY EARS; I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away.
Hearing from God must be a priority in our prayer life! Hearing from God brings results/bears fruit. Jesus, our example, heard what the Spirit was saying to Him…[Jhn 5:30 KJV] 30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I HEAR, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Wisdom from God is found when we watch, wait, and listen for Him daily.
[Pro 8:34 KJV] 34 Blessed [is] the man that HEARETH me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

This is one of my favorite scriptures because it shows us how to come to the Lord and be able to help folks. Sometimes we feel as if we have no words to give people… that’s when we go to God in prayer and God will give us the words to say

  33. MSG – 4-9 The Master, God, has given me
    a well-taught tongue,
So I know how to encourage tired people.

Are we an encourager? We should have enough of the Word of God in our hearts that we should be able to encourage everyone in need regardless of their situation. Let’s get bold, use the Word of God, bring encouragement to the lives of people, and be the light God intends us to be.

  34. 7 For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

8 He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

  35. My help comes from the Lord. When we get backed in a corner, it’s not time to panic and start doing your own thing. That’s when we must allow God to come in and lead us. God will never lead us astray.

  36. But the Lord God keeps me from being disgraced. So I refuse to give up, because I know God will never let me down.(Isaiah 50:7 CEV)

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.(Psalms 25:3 KJV). Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.(Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 KJV)

  37. 7 For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

The Lord is my strength. Trust in the Lord always. In times of trouble seek him and you shall find him. He will guide you and protect you just humble yourself to him and allow him to form and shape you exactly how he wants you to be.

  38. 10. Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. The word fear and obey.

  39. 7 For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

  40. The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

In the most weary times of life some people need a ear and others need a word. Not just any word but a word from God. This is why it is so important for us to learn to hear from God and learn to boldly speak His word to others in love.

  41. Isaiah 50:11 (English Amp) Behold, all you [ enemies of your own selves] who attempt to kindle your own fires [ and work out your own plans of salvation] , who surround and gird yourselves with momentary sparks, darts, and firebrand that you set aflame! WALK by the light of yourself made fire and of the sparks that you have kindled [ for yourself, if you will]! But this you have from My hand; you shall lie down in grief and in torment. Repentance, Go get help from the Lord that the only way to Salvation.

  42. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

This abuse by beating, and mocking looks ahead to the Messiah’s treatment before he is crucified. The Savior doesn’t merely put up with this treatment, he obediently and willingly offers himself (Isa 50:6). His obedience is in stark contrast to the rebellion of Israel.

  43. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
4 The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

These verses in this chapter just jumped out to me. Because of the awesomeness of verse 3, where God clothed the heavens with blackness, God did said it and it is still true today and is just awesome to think about. Then compared to verse 4 God has given me a tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary. May I use my learning and education for the same purpose Isaiah did.
