Isaiah 58

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

  1. Verses 6-11 ERV “I will tell you the kind of day I want—a day to set people free. I want a day that you take the burdens off others. I want a day when you set troubled people free and you take the burdens from their shoulders. I want you to share your food with the hungry. I want you to find the poor who don’t have homes and bring them into your own homes. When you see people who have no clothes, give them your clothes! Don’t hide from your relatives when they need help.” If you do these things, your light will begin to shine like the light of dawn. Then your wounds will heal. Your “Goodness” will walk in front of you, and the Glory of the Lord will come following behind you. Then you will call to the Lord, and he will answer you. You will cry out to him, and he will say, “Here I am.” Stop causing trouble and putting burdens on people. Stop saying things to hurt people or accusing them of things they didn’t do. Feel sorry for hungry people and give them food. Help those who are troubled and satisfy their needs. Then your light will shine in the darkness. You will be like the bright sunshine at noon. The Lord will always lead you and satisfy your needs in dry lands. He will give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring that never goes dry.” As we begin every day, every blog….”JESUS today YOU will SAVE me”,

  2. 2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

Righteousness is not the absence of sin but the selling of God’s love and delight when soon is revealed. Israel got many things wrong but the one thing they got right was when good dealt with them, they knew exactly what to do. It was like restoring a computer back to its default… Their original setting was to follow God., And any time a virus of sin was in their lives God would do a reset on their lives

  3. 14. Then you will discover joy such as only the Eternal can give. And I will raise you high and make your reach as wide as the earth, And you will live on all that I promised to Jacob, your ancestor, the heart of Israel. The Eternal One said these very things. Voice

Only Jesus can satisfy your soul
And only He can change your heart
    And make you whole
He’ll give you peace you never knew
Sweet love and joy and heaven too
For only Jesus can satisfy your soul

  4. Isaiah 58;1 (English Amp) Cry Aloud, spare not, Lift up your voice like a trumpet and declare to My people their transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins! Seek the Lord daily , cry out to God for repentance. Fast and pray for souls to be saved. Rebuild your altar with God, He loves us so much . Dont give up on God for the world. It’s not worth it!

  5. 11 The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. (NLT)

Be a true worshipper, walk in the spirit, and let all you do be to the glory of God and for the purpose of His kingdom. Let Your light shine through us today Jesus, guide us today, strengthen us – JESUS today YOU will SAVE us!

  6. Isaiah 58 message

“This is the kind of fast day I’m after:
to break the chains of injustice,
get rid of exploitation in the workplace,
    free the oppressed,
    cancel debts.
What I’m interested in seeing you do is:
sharing your food with the hungry,
inviting the homeless poor into your homes,
putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad,
being available to your own families.
Do this and the lights will turn on,
and your lives will turn around at once.
Your righteousness will pave your way.
The God of glory will secure your passage.
Then when you pray, God will answer.
You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’

There some things that cannot be loosed except by prayer and fasting.

What God will do for You!
    Lights will be on. Provision.
Lives will turn around at once! Souls delivered.
Righteousness will pave the way. A clear direction in God.
Glory of God will secure your passage. Assurance of Heaven.
God will answer when we call out and say
“Here I am”. Ability to hear God’s voice.

Yes prayer and fasting does many things in our life when we totally submit our will to His will.

  7. “No, this is the kind fasting I want : free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you . Let the oppressed go free, and
remove the chins that bind people. Isaiah 58:6 NLT

  8. ““No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. “Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply. “Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!”

  9. GO WITH JESUS

JESUS is serious about the sabbath. It is the will and desire of the LORD that we give ourselves to HIM alone on the sabbath. GO to Church, Pray, Worship, Rest in the LORD. NO pleasure, NO work. Just JESUS.

    The MSG
13-14 “If you watch your step on the Sabbath
and don’t use my holy day for personal advantage,
If you treat the Sabbath as a day of joy,
God’s holy day as a celebration,
If you honor it by refusing ‘business as usual,’
making money, running here and there—
Then you’ll be free to enjoy God!
Oh, I’ll make you ride high and soar above it all.
I’ll make you feast on the inheritance of your ancestor Jacob.”
    Yes! God says so!

Sundays are a gift from GOD for us to GROW and be prepared to GO WITH JESUS in everything we do. Sunday is our replenish day in the LORD. Keeping our mind on JESUS and not being troubled by the cares or pleasures of this life or world.

Lets GO WITH JESUS to please and serve HIM. Giving our Sundays to JESUS for our own BLESSING.

  10. 4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fist.
5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?
6 is not this kind of fasting I have chosen: to lose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

    11. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden like a spring whose water’s never fail.

  11. 13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

I hear it all the time…. You don’t have to go to church to have a relationship with God, you don’t have to do all that to go to heaven, etc…
    BUT
    WHAT ARE YOU MISSING?
There are so many blessings and promises connected with being in the house of the Lord. Why would you not want to take part in them?
It’s like a buffet spread out before a homeless man, there’s no reason not to eat.
    Come and Dine!

Isaiah 58:1-2 KJV  Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.  (2)  Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

Wow, check out the context of this chapter. I never really caught it until today as I read it. In context, the people of God “took delight in approaching God”. They wanted to pray, they wanted to come to church, they wanted to blog, they wanted to go on Outreach, they wanted to teach Bible Studies, they wanted to fast…but look…they had hidden sin. God is encouraging the prophet to shout out Israel’s sins like a trumpet and reveal their transgression.

I pray that each of us would daily examine our hearts so that we will not fall into the same trap as Israel did in these chapters.

  13. 3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

This chapter just spoke to me about the proper way to fast and please God. That is even when I am fasting and denying my flesh food, I still can not do my own pleasure. Such as finding and reading a good book or playing the computer. For if I deny my flesh pleasure in food, yet feed it pleasure in a good book, what good have I done? I am not saying to seek discomfort to please God, but to seek and to do activities which please him during that time of consecration. May always learn and grow is his will.

    9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Fasting works. There is something supernatural about the power of fasting and how it effects your life… I’ve heard it said “fasting doesn’t bring God closers to you, it brings you closers to Him” it opens and exposes just how close God really is to us and how He is standing ready to bless us

  15. 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

THEN…..obedience is a MUST………. THEN we receive what GOD has for us!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  16. 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

Denying oneself is not easy. However, we see in this chapter the benefits as a child of God that we receive from denying ourselves and living out our purpose in the Kingdom of God. It is God’s desire that all be saved, healed, delivered and set free. He uses us, His people, to walk among people on a daily basis to be the light to their lives. We must encourage, be sensitive to the Spirit of God, and work the work that God has called us to do. Let’s be bold about His purpose in our lives and live ministry everyday meeting needs of people.

  17. Isaiah 58
This chapter teaches us the wrong and the right way to fast. It teaches what we shouldn’t and should be doing during our fast.
When we fast the right way, “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; and the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am…” (vs. 8-9a)

  18. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Fasting
In Christs time the zealous fasted Pharisee each Monday and thursday. Jesus condemned the practice trying the face to show others one was fasting but did not condemn fasting. He fasted 40 days just before beginning his public ministry

  19. 8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily, and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward. 9 Then shall thou call, and the Lord shall answer, thou shalt cry, and he shall say here I am, if thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke , the putting forth of the finger and speaking vanity.

  20. The gist of the whole chapter is this:
    IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU!
Israel’s sin was selfishness. It was selfish pride, living as if the only thing that mattered was their own comfort and pleasure. Even their “righteous” service was selfishly motivated. They prayed and fasted and served God, not to please Him or grow closer to Him, but to garner admiration from men and to manipulate God into doing their own good pleasure, to make a better life for themselves.

God is always looking at the heart. What are you doing? Is it for you or for Him? This is how you can tell: living for God means serving others rather than self. Are you going without (fasting) so you can twist God’s arm into doing your own bidding, or so that you can give your food to someone who is hungry? Are you willing to have fewer changes of clothing so the cold can have one? Are you willing to stand up for the opposed or help the homeless regardless of personal cost? Are you willing to sacrifice the nice restaurant after church so you can give the missionary an extra offering to reach the lost with? Are you willing to fill your nice clean car with unwashed souls so they can come to the house of God? Are you willing to give up your Saturday-morning pleasures to knock on the door of an unbeliever? Are you willing to sacrifice time in intercessory prayer?

We lambast the rich, young ruler because he “trusted in his riches,” being unwilling to sell what he had and give to the poor. However, the point was that he would rather live lavishly than to sacrifice His plenty to fill the lack of those in need. This is the fast that God has chosen; this is the kind of fasting God hungers to see in us: self-sacrifice for the good of others. This is taking on the image of Christ. If we are worried about what we are going to get out of it, or what we have to give up to accomplish it, then we have missed God’s heart entirely. God’s heart is about dying to self so others can live. Are we dying daily? Who have you served today in a sacrificial way? The opportunities abound; it is only our will for sacrificial living that is lacking.

  21. 1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

We always need to keep ourselves accountable and look at ourselves and punish our flesh for the sins that it commits or try’s, accountability leads to obedience and obedience leads to victory and victory leads to living triumphant. Our lives need to be monitored by ourselves and an accountability partner of our choice.

  22. 13“Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the LORD’s holy day.

I recall, when I used to go to church only on Sunday mornings. Why, because I had other interests. I had to watch the Cowboys plays, I didnt want to miss a play. Or use the excuse, I had to get up early for work on Monday. This was before we had children!!

Now that we have children, we attend more church, more practices, youth events, more prayer services, and still take care of home/school activities. Thank you Lord for giving us the desire to keep you in our lives on a daily basis.

  23. 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

    9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

God wants our service to go beyond our own personal growth to acts of kindness, charity, and generosity. True fasting is more than what we don’t eat or what we sacrifice, it’s pleasing God by applying His word to our world. The more we give of ourself to others the more God will pour into us!

  24. 11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Oh Lord hallelujah thank you Jesus!

  25. Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

I think this touches episodes of the pastors from preaching about this past week’s we can’t be half-hearted towards God but but we need to be full in when we do these things we are sending false fire
I like how NLT say it because it really gets deep to what GOD talking about
Yet they act so pious! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn all about me. They act like a righteous nation that would never abandon the laws of its God. They ask me to take action on their behalf, pretending they want to be near me. ‘We have fasted before you!’ they say. ‘Why aren’t you impressed? We have been very hard on ourselves, and you don’t even notice it!’ “I will tell you why!” I respond. “It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves. Even while you fast, you keep oppressing your workers. What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me. You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? Do you really think this will please the Lord ? “No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.
    Isaiah 58:2‭-‬6 NLT

If you going to be in be in

  26. 13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Their is a reason why church days are so much work on our part because it’s not about us. It takes both sumbission and self sacrifice. We serve others in ministry for the salvation lost souls. Real worship is giving all of ourselves so that God may have his way, that His will may be done.

  27. I’ll tell you what it really means to worship the Lord. Remove the chains of prisoners who are bound unjustly. Free those who are abused!(Isaiah 58:6 CEV )

Our God is a All-Powerful God The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;(Isaiah 61:1 KJV)

  28. The lord has spoken. Do you offer up strange fire? Is your worship pure? Is it meant for the lord or is it just a show? We must offer praise that is True and meaningful. There’s no point in trying to worship or trying to do a “spiritual act” when your heart isn’t right.
Jesus I want my heart to be right everyday when I come to you in prayer and in workshop.

  29. Jesus would declare to his disciples that some spirits could only be dealt with after prayer and fasting. The authority to do so was still in faith through God, but prayer and fasting are the tools they would use to prepare themselves and increase their faith in God. Fasting did not make them righteous any more than it does for us. It is not a point of pride but an act of humility. Notice what is spoken of fasting here.

‘Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?’

God was showing them a similar analogy. If their fasting did not lead them to rise up against the wickedness that bound them, if it didn’t cause something to rise up within them when considering the oppressed around them, if it didn’t prick their compassion for the present needs of the poor among them, then why were they going through the motions? It wasn’t meant just for affliction, that denial of the flesh should profit our spirit.

If we’re taking the time to fast and pray, we should be coming closer to God and becoming more in tune with the things that move God. ‘Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.’

  30. This are the rewards of a true fast:

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am…

And the best thing is that as it is explained the true fast is simply to Go and be Church Go and be Jesus to the Lost and hurting world. To stop pointing the finger and doing your ways and to really honor the Sabbath.

  31. This chapter gives so many examples of how living for God isn’t just about fasting, praying, reading your bible and going to church. It is how you live your life when in public as well. Are you living a life that is actually doing works that are showing forth God’s love? Is your testimony of daily acts, one that says that you are without a doubt a Christian and example of what it is like to be Christ-like? We should be doing these good works, not just to show forth God’s light to those around, but to also grow in our walk with God. This links very well to 2 Corinthians 9:
” But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:  (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.  Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)  Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6‭-‬11 KJV

  32. 13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

The blessings of the Lord is upon you as you seek him, make him first in your daily praise and worship. Honor him especially on the Sabbath day each week.

  33. 6
“[Rather] is this not the fast which I choose,
To undo the bonds of wickedness,
To tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke,
To let the oppressed go free
And break apart every [enslaving] yoke?

Let this be our prayer, motive, and focus for fasting; to see people set free from their sin and bondage!

  34. 3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

    9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

A fast is a day to afflict the soul; if it does not express true sorrow for sin, and does not promote the putting away of sin, it is not a fast. These professors had shown sorrow on stated or occasioned fasts. But they indulged pride, covetousness, and malignant passions. To be liberal and merciful is more acceptable to God than mere fasting, which, without them, is vain and hypocritical. Many who seem humble in God’s house, are hard at home, and harass their families. But no man’s faith justifies, which does not work by love. Yet persons, families, neighbourhoods, churches, or nations, show repentance and sorrow for sin, by keeping a fast sincerely, and, from right motives, repenting, and doing good works. The heavy yoke of sin and oppression must be removed. As sin and sorrow dry the bones and weaken the strongest human constitution; so the duties of kindness and charity strengthen and refresh both body and mind. Those who do justly and love mercy, shall have the comfort, even in this world. Good works will bring the blessing of God, provided they are done from love to God and man, and wrought in the soul by the Holy Spirit.

  35. v8 Then shall they might break forth as morning, and think health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
Thank you JESUS because of your SPIRIT in us we are not blind to YOUR glories. We see them as we exalt and worship worship you.

  36. ““Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not to hide yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood?”
    ‭‭ISAIAH‬ ‭58:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We must take Jesus out of our four walls. Put Him on display for all to see His glory. The measure of love and kindness that has been show to you do for others.

“And whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.”
    ‭‭MATTHEW‬ ‭5:41-42‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  37. 2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

  38. Isaiah 58:6-9
This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I’m interested
in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once, Your Righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here Iam.’

    Thank you Jesus!

  39. 13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

The whole chapter was a BOOMSHAKALAKA!!

God just dropped a dynamite in our hands, and he lit it before when walked away!

The words Self-Righteousness was all over this chapter. Basically doing as you please. I think this is our biggest problem today. We are so caught up in ME pleasing we unknowingly disrespect God on a continuous basis. We need to get back about our Father’s business. Soul-Winning!

  40. 5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Jesus is not pleased with our half hearted fast for one day but wants us to fight for what is worth fighting for….for bands of wickedness to tear down, to break yokes, to set captives free, to break chains. I have experienced and seen personally what fasting can do. It’s a great big sacrifice but it’s a war that we’re fighting spiritually. Lord don’t let me loose sight to fight for what is worth. I know I have the victory but I have to fight for those that don’t believe it yet for themselves. Jesus give me the strength.

  41. 11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Thank you Jesus! I always need His guidance at all times!

  42. 5. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? 6. Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!
