Jeremiah 3

They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the Lord.

Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.

Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?

Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.

The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord.

11 And the Lord said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.

13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord.

14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the Lord.

21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.

22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lordour God.

  1. 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.

Sin is turning aside to crooked ways. And forgetting the Lord our God is at the bottom of all sin. By sin we bring ourselves into trouble. The promise to those that return is, God will heal their backslidings, by his pardoning mercy, his quieting peace, and his renewing grace. They come devoting themselves to God. They come disclaiming all expectations of relief and succour from any but the Lord. Therefore they come depending upon him only. He is the Lord, and he only can save. It points out the great salvation from sin Jesus Christ wrought out for us. They come justifying God in their troubles, and judging themselves for their sins. True penitents learn to call sin shame, even the sin they have been most pleased with. True penitents learn to call sin death and ruin, and to charge upon it all they suffer. While men harden themselves in sin, contempt and misery are their portion: for he that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but he that confesseth and forsaketh them, shall find mercy.

  2. Jeremiah 3:15
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

Thank You Pastor Watts for the countless hours you spend praying, reading, and studying God’s Word, so that we (POFW) can be Feed with knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.

  3. Jeremiah 3
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

A pastor according to God’s own heart. That is exactly what we have at POFW.
No pastor spends as much time as Pastor aND Sis. Watts doing all they do without a mandate a love for the people. We must admonish the backslidden to return to trust the pastor God has placed over POFW. God s kingdom waiting to be restored on their lives in Jesus Name. Proclaim God’s mercy and speak of our Pastor highly for he dies feed us with knowledge and understanding.

  4. THY KINGDOM COME

The Kingdom of GOD brings HOPE of Revival (Returning to GOD) and Harvest (Salvation of the lost to GOD).

As we Pastors seek the heart of GOD, follow HIS direction and share the WORD, WILL and WAYS of GOD. The LORD promises us to be multiplied and increased. As we unite together to seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD, the power of GOD will be demonstrated and GOD will turn the hearts of backsliders back to himself. We will experience the increase of the LORD and HE will do new things among us as we follow HIS Kingdom principals and concepts.

Lets GO seek the Kingdom of GOD and pray daily; “Thy Kingdom Come and Thy Will be Done in earth as it is in Heaven.

  5. I Love To Worship The Lord
    1-5
Josiah was a godly King who in truededication sought to reforme Judahs worship and reestablish her love for God. But the refoormation was only superfical. Judah like the child who belelives that saying i love you makes up for repeated disobedience

  6. 22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

Everyday I pray for the backslider that the are coming because the one one that can bring real joy and real peace is in JESUS CHRIST
I never understand how you can leave that wonderful life and turn towards the world that one bring hate and anger
I read this morning about a woman and how all her 3 son died of cancer one by one but in that trial she still continue to keep her faith in GOD and trust same with her son the continue to do the same because they know that GOD would take care of them the real joy come in JESUS

  7. 12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.

13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord

God was so merciful to Israel that time after time again God showed them mercy in spite of their shortcomings and failures. God does the same for us today. Over and over we see God’s mercy and grace evident in our lives. His mercies are new every morning.

  8. When you consider the mercies of God toward Israel, it truly passes our own understanding. They walked away so many times, and yet he still promises to advert judgment if they will but turn back to him with their whole heart. The mind of God is clear as to what he considers them to be in the midst of their sin, and yet he continues to reach out in compassion to a people whose heart is no longer truly with him.

We cannot afford for that spirit of complacency to slip into our walk with God. A complacency that allows a near allowance and acceptance of the sins of this world. Secular Christianity may be giving up the fight, but we need to continue to be the light! God’s perspective is clear: ‘Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.’

Our salvation is only in him… just like that old time gospel hymn, the fulness of the Godhead, it’s all in him! Jesus is EVERYTHING! He is our Lord and our God and our only hope of salvation! The prophet declares that hoping for that salvation while keeping one foot in the idolatry of this world is done in vain. We need to choose this day whom we will serve! Jesus declared that no man can serve two masters… and the prophet declares that God won’t accept anyone who tries. So let our mind be stayed on him! Let us choose to serve the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength in Jesus name!

  9. 22 “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” (NLT)

God wants His people to come back home; verse 19 expresses His desire. He wants relationship, He wants to heal and keep us. JESUS today YOU will SAVE us!

  10. 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.
22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.
23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

With travail, babes are born into the kingdom. Yet with backsliders, they are in need of healing when they return. Some were injured in the house of God by their brothers/sisters; some were pulled away by the glimmer of this world, others by the cares of life. They may feel there is a huge mountain between them and God now, but this chapter shows God calling to them to return with the promise of salvation. The church must reach out and across and bridge the gap so they feel the love of their God and his drawing through prayers, travail, friendship & love. When these fallen saints come home there will truly be great harvest.

  11. 6 The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

The true love of a father is seen in these two verses. Even after all Israel had done to the Lord, He was still beckoning to them to return to His grace and mercy, and they would not. This brings great hope to the worst of backsliders who think they have gone to far, done to much and cannot return. The grace, mercy and love of the Lord will not refuse anyone who returns with a repentant spirit. His arms are open and wide, waiting and waiting………it’s time to come home backslider!

  12. This is why the showers haven’t come — why there has been no spring rain. You have the brazen look of a prostitute and refuse to be ashamed.
    Jeremiah 3:3 HCSB

Were they ashamed when they acted so abhorrently? They weren’t at all ashamed. They can no longer feel humiliation…
    Jeremiah 6:15 HCSB

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush…
    Jeremiah 8:12 KJV

Jeremiah repeatedly proclaimed God’s amazement at the haughtiness and brazenness of man.

It is customary that things that were unspeakable in one generation do not even garner a blush from the next. Likewise, it is true that what parents allow in moderation, children will do in excess. Because of the searing of the conscience, what once pricked the heart with guilt and shame can soon be done without a thought of remorse. We must be careful, therefore, that we address God’s Word with humility and obedience. As soon as we entertain the idea that we have the right and ability to control our own lives, to go our own way, to sin without penalty, or to live like we want now and repent later; the searing process has begun and we take on the obstinate, blushless face of a harlot.

Let us repent like Ezra until we get our convictions back, until we get our blush back at the very thought of sin:
“O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens,” (Ezra 9:6 KJV).

God, give us the voice of a loud conscious, that we sin not against You!

  13. [Jer 3:1-3, 9 KJV] 1 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, shall he return unto her again? shall not that LAND BE GREATLY POLLUTED? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD. 2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast POLLUTED THY LAND with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness. 3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed. … 9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she DEFILED THE LAND, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

Three times God mentions a result of Israel’s whoredoms is a polluting or defiling of the land. This is because sin brings a judgment upon the land as well as the people. “Therefore the showers have been withholden and there hath been no latter rain” No wonder the Lord says He will HEAL OUR LAND as a result of our turning back to Him in prayer and repentance. [2Ch 7:14 KJV] 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The Lord showed me this principle in Lev. 18 while stationed in the Philippines. After listing many sexual sins such as incest, adultery, homosexuality, and bestiality, God warns His people:
[Lev 18:24-25 KJV] 24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
I witnessed God fulfill this Scripture as Mt. Pinatubo erupted, the land vomited out upon itself, and Clark AB was closed and the US pulled out of the Phillipines. The sexual sins had infiltrated the base and was being fueled by our presence there so God put an end to it! What a beautiful sight it was to see all of those nasty, unclean bars and clubs closed down because the Lord said enough is enough! Glory to God!

  14. 10 But despite all this, her faithless sister Judah has never sincerely returned to me. She has only pretended to be sorry. I, the Lord, have spoken!” 11 Then the Lord said to me, “Even faithless Israel is less guilty than treacherous Judah! NLT

Judah is called treacherous, because, though she professed to keep close to God when Israel had backslidden, she was going through the motions. Pretending, and giving a “fake” praise.

We deceive ourselves if we think to deceive God by a feigned return to him. I know no religion without sincerity, RELIGION will not bring The Kingdom.

It is an evidence of great stupidity when we are not awakened to a holy fear by the judgments of God upon others. How can we watch those around us, and not be moved?

When more is expected like Judah, more is at stake.
When we have a RELATIONSHIP vs a RELIGION, we will understand the cost. We will desire the responsibility and do it with gladness.

  15. She got a good blog^^^^

22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God

Gods not done, so don’t stop praying for the lost loved ones that’s showing no sign of coming back. Remember we serve a God mighty and able to do all things. We serve a God that does miracles signs and wonders. Keep praying

iBless you in the name of the Lord! Yes

  16. 14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

Good has given us our Bishop to lead us, out of my passions, one of them that his closest to home is protecting and covering my Bishop taking care of him and backing him up. Your life will never be more blessed than when you hold on to your pastor vision. Pastors these days have a bad reputation because of the actions of a few in the public eye it’s the saints job to back his pair and trust that he is being guided

  17. 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.

22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

  18. iLove the Kingdom 👑
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord.

The best example I think of when reading this verse is when my children do wrong and refuse it admit it. It feels so much better for me (and for them) when they mess up but confess they messed up. The worse thing they could do is try to cover it up. This describes this verse perfectly to me. God desires us to confess our sins.

  19. 14 Return, O backsliding children, says the Lord, for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. 15 And I will give you shepards according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. I am blessed and my family is blessed to have to have pastor Watts in our lives, teaching and showing us the way.

  20. 22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

  21. 4Yet you say to me, ‘Father, you have been my guide since my youth.

Many will say this, but will not follow the Lord. If God is your guide, why not follow his ways. Dont allow anything/anyone to discourage you from following God. Let God’s Word be anchored within you, and you’ll easily be able to know him.

  22. Josiah: 12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God…
There is no reason that we should not go to heaven. If we stumble we can get up and Go on. When we sin we can ask God to forgive us and He does. If you don’t know the word you can read the Bible, study, listen to preaching, blog, and many more things that we should do. God does not want us to go to hell. It was created for the fallen angles and has to get bigger when someone dies who isn’t going to heaven. So, let us GO be a CHRISTIAN EXAMPLE to this lost world!

  23. Return, faithless people declares the Lord, for I am your husband. I will choose you -one from a town and two from a clan- and bring you to Zion.
15 Then I will give you Shepherd’s after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding

  24. 17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

  25. This chapter with Israel and Judah shows us hr heart of agod toward us. When we put other things before him it is as though we are not faithful. Then he forgives us and invites us back. Sometimes people go back, but sometimes they choose the other thing instead of God. This causes pain, but it also causes those who are left (the sister Judah) to backslide too. The chapter goes on to say that the one who walked away was more at wrong than he one who followed suit. In any case they both fell out of their initial spot with the Lord.

Let’s try like mad to stay faithful so that all of our younger siblings will stay with Jesus and not leave him following a bad example.

  26. Where would we be without the mercy of the Lord? His love for us is truly great that he gives time for us to repent and turn to him.

  27. “And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As we walk in the newness of Christ we must do it with all of our hearts. It can not be half hearted. We are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind. He must be Lord of all areas of our lives.

  28. Living in a world that is filled with sin and plagued by sin.We still receive our help and deliverance from this world by HIS GRACE.

  29. 14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Jesus will help us with our relationship with Him. He will teach us and give us wisdom if we let Him. We must have an open heart at all times for correction and conviction. God’s Word pierces through the heart, it isn’t always suppose to feel good. It’s kind of like having a surgery. He’s taking things out of us that don’t come from Him. We may end up with deep wounds and need some time for healing, but after recovery, we will be healthy like God wants us to be.

  30. ““If a man divorces a woman and she goes and marries someone else, he will not take her back again, for that would surely corrupt the land. But you have prostituted yourself with many lovers, so why are you trying to come back to me?” says the Lord.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
    http://bible.com/116/jer.3.1.nlt
This has to be one of the hardest and one of the toughest scriptures to read in the Bible. It’s rough and it’s truth. Decilpined and morally correct.

  31. Verses 21-22 MSG “The sound of voices comes drifting out of the hills, the unhappy sound of Israel’s crying, Israel lamenting the wasted years, never once giving her God a thought. “Come back, wandering children! I can heal your wanderlust!” There are still so many that are wandering and really don’t know how exactly to get back. We POFW must reach out, love and not question the reasons why or the how comes. John 13:34-35 MSG says “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”

  32. Jeremiah 3;21 (English Amp) A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and pleading of the sons of Israel, Because they have ( eagerly) forgotten the Lord their God. God voice is calling to backslidders to return home so he can heal your land of faithfulness . We must love one another and pray for one another. And forgive one another. Go proclaim the word of God to this world. We must be saved

  33. 11 And the Lord said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

No one person’s sin is greater than the other. Sin is sin and separation from God and servers relationship. No matter the sin God wants his children to come to him in repentance. He is Israel’s and our only hope for salvation.

  34. 10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord.

Life is filled with overwhelming emotions, unexpected challenges, and unpredictable relationships which can all cause our hearts to become selfish in an effort to survive. So many people and things compete for our time, money, focus and attention that it can seem impossible to be whole-hearted for anything, let alone God. Our hearts determine how we handle everything that life throws our way. The bible says to be careful about what we allow into our hearts and what we allow our hearts to be devoted to.

How much are you loving God right now? 1%? 25%? 50%? 75%? 100%?
What would it look like for you to really love God with everything you have?
How early would you wake up to spend time with him?
How long would you spend listening to him (reading the bible) and talking (praying) to him?
What would you be willing to give up in order to be close to him?
