Jeremiah 6

O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

For thus hath the Lord of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord.

13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.

16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

21 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

22 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.

28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.

  1. v10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear?
behold,, the ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot heaken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

How empty is the life of one who refuses to embrace the message of JESUS CHRIST!
Many have miserably faltered in life because they placed in others the trust and confidence they should have reserved only for GOD.

The solution to trouble is believing in CHRIST and believe, delight in HIS WORD.

  2. Verses 16-20 MSG version reminded me of what Bro. Smith spoke about on Sunday night about the watchman. Isaiah 62:6 NLT says “O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night,
continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord.” Same verse ERV “Jerusalem, I put guards on your walls. They will not be silent. They will keep praying day and night. Guards, keep praying to the Lord. Remind him of his promise. Don’t ever stop praying.”

  3. Hebrews 13:17 ESV “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”

  4. 16. Eternal One (to the people): Stand at the crossing, and consider the ancient path, for it is good and it leads to Me. Walk on this path, and you will find rest for your souls. But they have said, “We will not walk upon this road.” Voice

    The Road Not Taken,
    A poem by Robert Frost:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  5. Jeremiah 6:16This sai th the Lord stand te in the ways, and see and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not hear men.
    ——-
It is a very sad thing when the Lord in his feat mercy reaches to us to try to save us from our sin, He would make a way, and yet the soul would reject his mercy, his salvation, his desire to rescue us….. time it’s coming , he will for sure act , his hand is ready, his judgment is ready. God attracts the sinner, God makes a way……

  6. Jeremiah 6:16
    New International Version
This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

    New Living Translation
This is what the LORD says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

Rebellion blinds the heart of man. Even the voice of God could not get the people to turn away from their sins. What a terrible place in life to be. Not wanting instruction guidance. God placed the watchman to protect them but they still refused they felt as if the destruction that was told would come was a false alarm. They ignored everything that was being said to them. We have a choice to make and we need to do it quickly. Will we choose the road that leads to eternal life or the road that leads to destruction. We have stay close so that we will continually choose the way of righteousness, holiness staying as close to God as possible and listening for instructions from the watchman on the wall for he watches out for our souls. Righteousness,Peace,Joy in the Holy Ghost that’s the Kingdom of God.

  7. 16 This is what the Lord says: stand at the crossroads and look; asked for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul. But you said we will not walk in it.
17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, listen to the sound of the trumpet! But you said, we will not listen.
18Therefore hear, oh nations; observe, O witnesses, what will happen to them. 19Hear, oh earth: I am bringing disaster on these people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law.

  8. 16 This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ (NLT)

That will not be my reply, instead I’ll be singing: “Give me that old time religion, it’s good enough for me!”

  9. This is what the Lord says: “stop at the crossrods and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find
rest for your souls… Jeremiah 6: 16 NLT

  10. This is what the Lord says: “stop at the crossrods and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find
rest for your souls… Jeremiah 6: 16 NLT

  11. This is what the Lord says: “stop at the crossrods and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find
rest for your souls… Jeremiah 6: 16 NLT

There is safety and security in the old paths. God gives us protection and strength when we walk in His ways. Our spiritual rest is also found in Jesus.

  12. Jeremiah 6:13 KJV  For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

Notice here in this verse that the Word says “and from the prophet even unto the priest”…this tells me that a feller can be a prophet or priest, and still not be right with God. Those who deal falsely will be judged regardless of their callings and titles. Do not follow folks with titles on their names, follow them with a relationship with God.

  13. “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

No ashamed in evil doing does not produce the righteousness of God. We are to seek first the Kingom of God and his righteousness. Naughtiness is the opposite of what we should be doing. Naughtiness or wickedness in Strong’s means- wickedness that is not ashamed to break laws. Instead our “delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.”(‭‭Ps‭1:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). We must Eat This Book and fall in love with it!

“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:19-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  14. THY KINGDOM COME

GOD has dealt with the spirit of this world since the rebellion of Adam and Eve. Mankind has repeatedly allowed the spirit of this world to have influence and prevail in their personal lives.

We witness here the announcement of the judgement, when THY KINGDOM COME is present in the world. The Kingdom of GOD will judge sin. The King JESUS will set a watchman over us to warn and announce of the coming judgement of GOD.

We must get back to the ways of the LORD our GOD. Repent and turn toward GOD and away from sin.

As we continue to Seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD we will experience the power of GOD leading us to “the old paths” of sincere and thorough repentance, righteous and holy living, fervent and consistent prayer, passionate and demonstrative praise and sacrificial and sincere worship.

  15. Jeremiah 6:16
“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

The best thing you can do when your traveling and find yourself at a crossroad and don’t know which way to turn is to “Ask for directions that will get you back on the right path to your destination, and follow it.”
The same is true spiritually. When someone finds themselves at a crossroad in life, all they have to do is ask for the good way (right way) and walk in it, and it will lead them to their destination of rest for their souls.

  16. To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. They scorn the word of the Lord . They don’t want to listen at all. So now I am filled with the Lord ’s fury. Yes, I am tired of holding it in! “I will pour out my fury on children playing in the streets and on gatherings of young men, on husbands and wives and on those who are old and gray.
    Jeremiah 6:10‭-‬11 NLT
How many times does the Lord have to Waring us before he pours out his angry he Waring a lot of us and we are still not listening we are rejecting his voice lORD please if that me forgive me let my Focus Beyond you and not my self

  17. This is what the Lord says:

    16“Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 I appointed watchmen over you and said,
‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’
But you said, ‘We will not listen.’

As the coming of the Lord gets closer there are more and more signs for the people to come to Him but don’t listen. We’re living like in the time of Noah. He kept warning the people but nobody believed him. I pray God would wake us up and that this region would see that the Lord is truly coming and His Word is true!! Many see and hear but ignore it and keep loving on their lives focusing on this earthly kingdom. Jesus help me help those that are blind spiritually so they can understand your scriptures!

  18. 14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

The older I get the more I desire peace. I long to be able to just go home and live in peace and quiet with my wife —to be left alone by the world and the many issues swirling around in our culture. Unfortunately, there is no peace in our world today. It seems that almost every day we are confronted with more and more apocalyptic, absurd headlines. It seems that the world has lost its mind! The enemy of this world attacks our children, our spouses, our families, and us leaving behind only ruins, conflict, and death.

It is good to long for peace, it is a natural desire God has built into us as human beings. We were created to live in God’s presence in peace and at rest with him, yet because of sin that peace is lost. This desire can quickly become an idol. We can want peace so desperately that we seek it above all else. We can also wrongly seek peace by seeking compromise and friendship with the world.

We will have trouble in our families, in our country, in our culture, and in our world, but in Christ—the Prince of Peace—we have an everlasting peace because he has overcome this world! When your heart longs for peace, seek out him who is the source of peace. If you go elsewhere, you will find many things but you will not find peace.

  19. v10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear?
behold,, the ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot heaken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

God give warnings to sinners about the lifestyles they are living how they need to change and get right with him. We as saints also get the same warning which we ignore at times. Does it make it right because we already have the holy Ghost and is baptized in Jesus name..? We don’t have a free ticket to heaven. We are not exempt. God help us to not ignore your warnings how ever they may come through preaching, through praying and fasting or daily devotionals. Take heed to Gods word. The closest you are to God it’s easier for God to get your attention. The farthest you are from God then he may throw everything but the kitchen sink at you. When you still don’t take heed then here goes the kitchen sink. Lol
Nobody wants the wrath or judgement of God in their lives but who is going to Listen to his voice before it gets to that point?????

  20. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Those that seek “the kingdom of God – the old paths” in their lives will have rest for their souls. However, those that fight against what God desires by choosing worlds things, carnal things, things that is enmity against God, will find turmoil, distress, stress and a carnal mind set.

I focus my eyes on Jesus, so that I can hear the warning from the watchman on the wall, and hear the Lord speak through His word, that I will follow in His ways, and He will order my steps.

  21. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

What are the old paths? They are ways Jesus taught us live in the word, the apostolic message of the disciples and the path founded by the pioneers/elders of our faith. The church cannot change to accommodate the world so the world is comfortable here, rather the church must stay apostolic and let the world taste his kingdom in every service. Miracles, signs and wonders will draw them if we continue in the old paths.

  22. Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
    Amos 3:7 KJV

To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. They scorn the word of the Lord . They don’t want to listen at all. I posted watchmen over you who said, ‘Listen for the sound of the alarm.’ But you replied, ‘No! We won’t pay attention!’ ….“Jeremiah, I have made you a tester of metals, that you may determine the quality of my people.
    Jeremiah 6:10‭, ‬17‭-‬17‭, ‬27 NLT

Judgment never comes without warning. God is merciful and gracious. Even when He knows we will not listen, He still sends warnings. His warnings can either help us or condemn us.

We must be careful to heed the words that come forth from the pulpit, because we will be tested by our reaction to them. God made this promise a few chapters ago: “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding,” (Jeremiah 3:15 KJV).

The problem is never that God doesn’t speak to His people; the problem is that His people harden their hearts against His messengers because they don’t like what was spoken. Your quality will be seen by your obedience.

  23. Jeremiah 6:1‭, ‬10‭-‬12 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/jer.6.1-12.KJV

God judges us on all aspects of our walk and when we’re not right we can’t hear the call of God. When you can’t hear there is a void. God will not recognize anybody that follows after the world. There is no possible way to serve the world and God. The choice has to be made. I choose God over the world. This is a new day. Lord open my ears to hear and fill my heart with your grace and love.

Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
    Hebrews 5:11 KJV

  24. “Therefore I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’ve got a fire burning, I’m full of the Lord and I’ve got to get the point across to those that are lost and need Jesus. Let God lead your lips today sharing what’s going on in this world and how they can change just like you did.

  25. “Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is; then walk in it, And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’”
    ‭‭JEREMIAH‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When it comes to life there are two paths we can take, God’s will or our own. You take your own, and you become the king of your life and it will only end in destruction. Follow His will, let Him become the King of your life and you will live a blessed life!

Take this world and give me Jesus, I want to live that good old time apostolic life!

  26. “Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is; then walk in it, And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’”

  27. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk there

  28. 15 Are they ashamed of their disgusting actions? Not at all—they don’t even know how to blush!

The difference between a sinner and a righteous man is guilt. The sinner doesn’t care who he hurts, doesn’t care who gets hurts, doesn’t care what time it is, doesn’t care where it happens, he only cares about himself. He will commit a sinful act and continue on his ways as if nothing happened.

A righteous man, will feel guilt as soon as he commits sin. He will immediately ask God for forgiveness and repent. He will try to do what is right!

  29. “Listen to this warning, Jerusalem, or I will turn from you in disgust. Listen, or I will turn you into a heap of ruins, a land where no one lives.””

How many times have God warned us and spared us…I’m thankful for his mercies. Where would I be with out you. Thank you for all those second chances I don’t deserve.

  30. 10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken, behold the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach, they have no delight in it.

  31. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Old paths. I like because it says you will find rest for your soul.

  32. 1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

6 For thus hath the Lord of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Whatever methods are used, it is vain to contend with God’s judgments. The more we indulge in the pleasures of this life, the more we unfit ourselves for the troubles of this life. The Chaldean army shall break in upon the land of Judah, and in a little time devour all. The day is coming, when those careless and secure in sinful ways will be visited. It is folly to trifle when we have eternal salvation to work out, and the enemies of that salvation to fight against. But they were thus eager, not that they might fulfil God’s counsels, but that they might fill their own treasures; yet God thereby served his own purposes. The corrupt heart of man, in its natural state, casts out evil thoughts, just as a fountain casts out her waters. It is always flowing, yet always full. The God of mercy is loth to depart even from a provoking people, and is earnest with them, that by repentance and reformation, they may prevent things from coming to extremity.

  33. There is always safety in the tried and true paths established in the days of our elders… for we cannot but speak the things we have seen and heard. This passage may seem familiar: ‘Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.’ That is because Paul said the same: ‘Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.’ His promises are almost always conditional, and his desire is clearly for us to submit to the truth that endures unto all generations. We don’t get to decide the way ourselves, we are expected to become more like him… and he does not change!

He recognized that as individuals this would be difficult, so ‘Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.’ He wanted his people to know his ways. Even if the people hardened their hearts and refused to acknowledge his ways, he wanted them to hear a vocal reminder of his ways. They may still reject him, but they wouldn’t be able to say they didn’t know what God wanted. As a former pastor would half jokingly remind us, it only takes hearing once to condemn… after that it was a choice. If we want the God of peace to provide rest for our souls, we need choose to walk in his ways. Just as God does not change, neither do his ways!

His perfect way is described well by Isaiah. ‘And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.’ This passage assures us there will be a separation based upon our choice. The world may look upon us as fools, but if we decide to make that journey our everything, he assures us we will not have made a mistake in doing so. We can willing make that choice ourselves or God will have to decide later… I’d much rather separate myself from the world than have God forbid me to pass over to him. Let his word be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path that I might see clearly his will for every step I take!

  34. “This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ I posted watchmen over you who said, ‘Listen for the sound of the alarm.’ But you replied, ‘No! We won’t pay attention!’”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  35. I posted watchmen over you who said, ‘Listen for the sound of the alarm.’ But you replied, ‘No! We won’t pay attention!’
    Jeremiah 6:17 NLT

Hear the warning from the watchman on the wall. We should be thankful for the watchman for their purpose to is to do good and keep safe. Reading this brings to attention that we ought to keep the watchman in prayer that he does not get weary I. Is his post that he can see clearly and that people will listen to the warning. Thank God for the watchman in our lives.

  36. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
We live in a world that continually desires and strives for something new and untried, hoping that it will satisfy the emptiness in their souls. Yet, they are never filled, never satisfied. Jesus is the only one that can and will fill the void, longing and emptiness in their souls. He has never changed and never will. He desires us to change to be more like him and to turn away from this fleeting world. When we do so; he give us a rest in our souls that can never be replicated by any creation of man.

  37. 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Could this be where we are today, children telling parents what they are going to do? Parents not leading as they should…

  38. Hannah: Never turn your back on the Lord. Without him there is nothing but sorrow and bitterness. In him though there is peace and joy. He will never forsake you or throw you away. Instead he will guide you and stand beside you. He is my God and every day he is worthy of everyone’s highest praise. He is the one who gives me strength when I am weak and picks me up again when I fall. Always trust in the Lord and place him first in your life. You will go far with him and continue to grow. There is never a max to how much you can grow in the Lord because you can always get closer to him. He is also my provider and I am very thankful for everything that he does in my life. It is my continual desire to always continue to grow in the Lord and always continue to place him first in my life.

  39. 20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
21 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

I praise God for paying things in my way when I have become too far off the right path and causes me to get back on track. It is the sure Mercy of Christ to not accept our offerings and cause is to fall when our heart isn’t right. God isn’t after our sacrifices nor our offerings as he is where we are at in our walk with him

  40. “This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls…..” (but they would not)

Choosing God’s ways, paths and lifestyle lead to peace and rest for our souls. Choosing our own way, the flesh, or the world leads to separation from Him, judgment sent to bring us back to Him, and destruction. God help us to choose You, choose life, choose rest. Jesus (Jehovah-Savior) is still offering this rest to His people today: [Mat 11:28 KJV] 28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Praise God for His rest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Isa 28:12 KJV] 12 To whom he said, This [is] the rest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this [is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Dear Lord we ask for the old paths that lead to Your rest, give us hearts to seek You and Your will to be done and Your Kingdom come! Amen!!!!!!

  41. Reinventing the wheel

16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

So many are trying to find new revelation or a new way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking revelation for yourself, we should, but the word of God never changes. We his means that we may here the same revelation preached by different men of God in various ways but it is still the word of God. When I was growing up my Dad would ask my teach me something but I would ask if we could do it a different way. He would say there is no reason to spend time trying to reinvent the wheel. What he was saying is by the time you figure out how to do it a different way I will be done. The apostolic doctrin handed down to us doesn’t need any help. It doesn’t need to be reinvented. We should seek these old ways and find out who we really are. Square wheels don’t roll very well.

  42. I Love To Worship The Lord
    vs-6
Jeremiah pictures the Lord urging the enemy on because this city must be punished for her oppression violence and wickedness
    vs-20
God scorns the worship of the sinful. This is the repeated message of the O.T.profets . Religion without righteousness reeks

  43. 3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

  44. Jeremiah 6:26
Put on sackcloth, my people, and roll in ashes; mourn with bitter wailing as for an only son, for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.

What is repentance? This is a physical description of what needs to happen in us in the spirit. For some one in the Old Testament to repent in this manner, they were in a sincere manner seeking for God to forgive them. It was to take off your pride and show humility before God, as for an only son, is to loose everything. Your name, your heritage, your lineage, your blood line, the first born blessing.

This is what we as a country need to do, put on sackcloth and roll in ashes, mourn bitterly, and pray to God.

  45. “We’ve heard the news, and we’re as limp as wet dishrags. We’re paralyzed with fear. Terror has a death grip on our throats. Don’t dare go outdoors! Don’t leave the house! Death is on the prowl. Danger everywhere!”
    ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6:24-25‬ ‭MSG‬‬

When God’s judgment comes down on you it is terrifying.
The easiest way to keep from having that is to SEEK HIM.
If we seek him we will find him
Seek ye first the kingdom of God
It is the looking for him that draws us nearer. When we stop looking for Jesus, we find self or worldly pleasures. Keep seeking Jesus.
