Ezekiel 35

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.

I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the Lordwas there:

11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

14 Thus saith the Lord God; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  1. Verses 10-13 MSG “‘Because you said, “These two nations, these two countries, are mine. I’m taking over” (even though God is right there watching, right there listening), I’ll turn your hate-bloated anger and rage right back on you. You’ll know I mean business when I bring judgment on you. You’ll realize then that I, God, have overheard all the vile abuse you’ve poured out against the mountains of Israel, saying, “They’re roadkill and we’re going to eat them up.” You’ve strutted around, talking so big, insolently pitting yourselves against me. And I’ve heard it all.” They forgot that everything belongs to the Lord and he is omnipresent. Psalm 105:15 NLT says ““Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.” Same verse in the VOICE “Do not lay a hand on My anointed people; do not do any harm to My prophets.”

  2. 7 Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

You reap what you sow, so don’t sow curses and hatred, sow blessing, love, mercy, and grace.

  3. 10. You keep saying, “We will take possession of these two countries and two nations-Israel and Judah. We will own them.” And you have the nerve to say this right in front of Me!

    13. You said so many haughty things against Me, and I heard every word of it. Voice

Be careful, little tongue, what you say…

    Proverbs 18:21 KJVS
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. KJV

  4. 5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

Prov 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

  5. Ezekiel 35:11 (English Amp) Therefore, as I live, says the Lord God, I will deal with you according to the anger and envy you showed because of your enmity for them, and I will make Myself known among them [ as He Who will judge and punish you. This is because of Edom’ s mountains all the Edomites fighting, and all the anger that it causing God people. God is saying leave my people alone. God doesn’t like any kind of evil. He will punish you!

  6. 14 Thus saith the Lord God; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord

  7. I will demolish your cities and make you desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord . “Your eternal hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins.
    Ezekiel 35:4‭-‬5 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/ezk.35.4-5.NLT

We must love His people just like He loved us. We must remember that it is not about our will but His will and His will is to reach the lost. His will is not for us to critisize or take advantage of those in a lesser situation than us. Our mandate is to love them, care for them, pray for them. We should give them our time, and resources to help. There are consequences and reprocutions if we don’t.

  8. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard every contemptuous
word you spoke against the mountains of Israel. For you said,
‘They are desolate; they have been given to us as food to eat ! In
saying that, you basted proudly against me, and I have heard it all !
    Ezekiel 35:12,13 NLT

We are wisewe not to speak negative about any other human being.
    God is listening! !

  9. “…know that I am the Lord.”

Everything is to the glory of God – yes even the not so bright situations! One might read such passages and think how could a loving God cause such destruction, but remember we have the choice and God reacts according to it. He has a plan perfected for us, but it’s our choice to stay the path and follow it. It’s also our job to lead others; let everyone know that He is the Lord!

  10. iLove the Kingdom

Why was God so upset with Mount Seir…well it was because you just don’t step on a good man when he’s down. Just like the map above informs us, Mount Seir was the home of the Edomites. Edom (Esau) was Jacob’s twin brother and apparently big brother’s descendants thought they would try to take the promise that was given to Jacob by the sword. God wasn’t having any of that though, and had Ezekiel prophesy against it.

  11. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

God seems to be constantly proving to the people that He is the Lord. They don’t seem to want to believe him but the truth stands by itself. As much as God has done for us and as kind as God has been to us it’s crazy that we would have to be reminded that he is God. But unfortunately God has felt the need to remind us time and time again.

  12. Ezekiel 35 1-4 God’s Message came to me: “Son of man, confront Mount Seir. Prophesy against it! Tell them, ‘God, the Master, says:

‘I’m coming down hard on you, Mount Seir.
I’m stepping in and turning you to a pile of rubble.
I’ll reduce your towns to piles of rocks.
There’ll be nothing left of you.
Then you’ll realize that I am God.
5-9 “‘I’m doing this because you’ve kept this age-old grudge going against Israel: You viciously attacked them when they were already down, looking their final punishment in the face.

    An Age Old Grudge

What a terrible way to live. What a terrible way to die just because of a grudge.
Forgive us Lord for anything that we have not forgiven lest we too would not be forgiven.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

    “‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    10 your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

    In Jesus name.

  13. 2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

Some things you just gotta study out. When I read this first I said why in the world would you prophecy against a mountain then when I started digging I basically seen everything brother Morgan blogged about with Edom and the Edomites.

We’ve heard it a thousand times before but the Bible says it too!
When the enemy is coming in Prophecy against him. When troubles coming your way prophecy against it!

There is power behind a word with faith following it. Believe it and watch it come to pass!
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  14. that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

  15. Ezekiel 35:5 (msg)
“I’m doing this because you’ve kept this age-old grudge (because thou hast had a perpetual (never ending or changing: everlasting, eternal, endless, long-lasting, constant, continual) hatred -kjv) going against Israel: You viciously attacked them when they were already down, looking their final punishment in the face.”

I believe this is what’s wrong in the world today, why we see so much violence, because people are so full of hate and old grudges of what’s happened to them in their life. (either through things done to them or said to them).
It’s hard for people of this world to FORGIVE and FORGET. That’s why we must share JESUS with the world. They need to know that JESUS can help them get through their past hurts, hate, and grudges and find FORGIVENESS and HEALING in their lives.

GO Share JESUS with someone today!

  16. Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

This is a hard verse to read; sometimes. As a parent we do the best we know how with what we have to work with at the time. As we mature in our relationship with Jesus it may be too late for our children to understand what is happening. Children use their parents as benchmarks and thresholds to their own growth and maturity. As a young man my father and I would play games; I tried with all my might to beat him at every game. One day, I won a game a checkers – it was a great day, it was also a bad day. It was great because a long sought victory was mine. It was bad because I knew my dad was normal and no longer superman.

For years, I thought this was a promise my children would never lose their walk with God. This is not the reality of the verse. They may choose to live a life outside the church but the lessons they learned about God will never be forgotten. Remember the cliché about riding a bicycle; “it’s like riding a bike” – meaning once you learn something complicated generally we don’t forget. Is riding a bike complicated? Yes. Think of all it takes to straddle a thin piece of metal and propel yourself.

The point is, learning to have a relationship with God is a time consuming and difficult thing to learn. Thus, the concepts of this life is hard to forget. Some may choose to live on the fringes or completely outside the church but the lessons learned will not be forgotten.

  17. Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord : “I am your enemy, O Mount Seir, and I will raise my fist against you to destroy you completely. I will demolish your cities and make you desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord . “Your eternal hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins.
    Ezekiel 35:3‭-‬5 NLT

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
    Genesis 12:2‭-‬3 KJV

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
    Matthew 10:22 KJV

Hatred for God’s people is counter-productive, yet the world just can’t seem to help itself. The same hated that has been shown to the tiny spec of a country, Israel, is shown to Christians around the world, and is beginning to manifest even in our country. We must decide before we are faced with such hated that we are willing to endure it. It’s one thing to enjoy the blessings of the Lord, but quite another thing to fellowship His sufferings.

How can those who can’t endure sound doctrine, who can’t submit to church leadership, and who can’t abide by simple things (like holiness teachings, faithful attendance, and tithe paying) think that they will stand up against persecution or be strong in the face of oppression? The test of one’s ability to die for Christ, should the need arise, is their current ability to give Him ALL…right now…without reservation. (The redundancy was intentional.)

What is God asking of you that you feel is impossible or unreasonable? What temptation has not yet been defeated? Does something readily come to mind? Settle it now. Defeat it now. Even in America, in this hour, Christians are having to choose between their livelihoods and their convictions, between going to jail or standing in obedience to God’s Word, between rejection from friends and family or acceptance of Oneness doctrine and Apostolic teaching. The hated could soon be on our own doorsteps, have we settled it in our hearts that we are willing to give Him all?

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
    Hebrews 12:1 KJV

  18. 14-15 “‘This is the verdict of God, the Master: With the whole earth applauding, I’ll demolish you. Since you danced in the streets, thinking it was so wonderful when Israel’s inheritance was demolished, I’ll give you the same treatment: demolition. Mount Seir demolished—yes, every square inch of Edom. Then they’ll realize that I am God!’”

We’ve all heard “treat others how you want to be treated”.
Well, we see here that God treated them, in the same manner, they were going to treat others.

How would people treat us today, if they would treat us the same way we treat them?

  19. As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord , since you show no distaste for blood, I will give you a bloodbath of your own. Your turn has come! Therefore, as surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord , I will pay back your angry deeds with my own. I will punish you for all your acts of anger, envy, and hatred. And I will make myself known to Israel by what I do to you. Then you will know that I, the Lord , have heard every contemptuous word you spoke against the mountains of Israel. For you said, ‘They are desolate; they have been given to us as food to eat!’ “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The whole world will rejoice when I make you desolate.
    Ezekiel 35:6‭, ‬11‭-‬12‭, ‬14 NLT
What you reap is what you sow GOD see and hear everything you can’t cure someone and think that it will not happen to you
When you speak cure . Cure will come out but when speak blessing . Blessings will flow out

  20. 13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

We reap what we sow and life or death is in the power of the tongue. Speak positive, speak life and blessings.

  21. “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: The whole world will rejoice when I make you desolate. You rejoiced at the desolation of Israel’s territory. Now I will rejoice at yours! You will be wiped out, you people of Mount Seir and all who live in Edom! Then you will know that I am the Lord .
    Ezekiel 35:14‭-‬15 NLT

I just always find it so fascinating that even with how terribly Israel sinned against God over and over God’s love and passion towards His people never wavered. He is our our Jehovah Nissi. He goes before us He is our Banner He is our guide He is our protector. Praise the King of Kings

  22. In this scripture, it is clear that vengeance is the Lord’s! Just make sure when you rejoice it’s on the side of our God Jesus Christ and rejoicing with Israel not against. So, remember to bless and pray for the peace of Israel! “I do……!”

15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

    “Church pray for Israel”…….

  23. 13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

Life flows from what we say. We can speak blessings or cursing. Every things can be turned from a negative into a possible just by how we word the sentence.

James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

The power of life and death is in the tongue, and those who love it will eat the fruit thereof – Proverbs 18:21

The choice is ours – we must take the time to weigh our words wisely and choose to speak life and not death.

  24. 2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

    What are you facing?

Each time the scriptures says to “prophesy against” something it also says to “turn thy face against” When we evaluate what we are facing or what is influencing us we will see who’s side we are on. When our face is to God we are able to prophesy against evil. Yet, if our face is towards God we are literally prophesying against Him. We are in enmity with God.

Lord, cause me to daily keep my eyes on You and what Your doing. Help me to stand against evil even when the world around me is not.

  25. THY KINGDOM COME
    GOD HEARS EVERY WORD

The KING of GLORY our LORD JESUS is all seeing, all knowing and all hearing. There is not a word that we speak in idle conversation that does not and is not recorded in eternity.

Notice what the LORD addressed in from the words spoken over Mount Seir.

    1. PRIDE – These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it.
    2. ENVY/ANGER – I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them.
    3. BLASPHEMOUS/GOSSIP – I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume
    4. ARROGANCE – Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

We must remember that even when we do not understand what is happening or when we are witnessing the fall of something, we should pray for protection and restoration. We must be good DISCIPLES and Guard the WORDS that come from our mouth.

    JESUS warns us:
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

    iRepent
    iPraise

    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  26. 13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

Boasted – to make great, powerful
    to magnify. To exalt.

When we boast something or someone, we exalt it. So if we are boasting against God, we are exalting the things that are not of Him! Boast in God, not against Him!

“You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you!”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  27. You exalted yourselves against me with your speech and hurled many insults against me – I have heard them all! This is what the sovereign Lord says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will turn you into a desolation.
    Ezekiel 35:13‭-‬14 NET

When you think no one is listening……GOD knows the thoughts and heart of man. Nothing is ever hidden to him. We must be careful not to speak Ill against anyone.
Once those words are spoken and nasty attitude being displayed, you can not take it back.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit.
    Proverbs 18:21

  28. 11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

  29. Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

3 And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.

4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

7 Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

All who have God against them, have the word of God against them. Those that have a constant hatred to God and his people, as the carnal mind has, can only expect to be made desolate for ever.

  30. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee, thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  31. 13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

oooooooo don’t even try it. Our words will magnify the Lord not go against him ummmm who created us? and who has all power and authority? well you know Jesus! so why should we boast against him? no reason at all the devil is a liar!!! Even when you think he did’t hear you… well he does Jesus is kinda omnipresent.

  32. There are many ways to get the attention of God, but this is certainly not one of them to be recommended: ‘Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.’ So many in the world like to boast against God and his people, they talk continually of the futility of his service and mock him to their friends… but what would they do if God came along to tap them on the shoulder and say ‘I heard you’. Where would their boasting be then? You can almost imagine the back pedaling of those who were so confident that God’s people were of no consequence.

That’s all well and good and we can almost chuckle in memory of some in times past that we’d love to receive that tap on the shoulder… but remember, they are of course still deceived and living a life in the world. How would we fare if God should come and tap us on the shoulder and declare that he’s heard what we’ve spoken? Would the presence of his spirit taking notice of the words that come out of our mouths bring a response of joy within, or would we cringe that God had taken notice… because he does take notice of every idle word.

Our words are powerful! We sometimes lose sight of that, but we need to know that everything we say and do is an example to those around us. We are an epistle that is read of all men… and they take notice of our words. They judge our church and the spirituality of our life by what they hear when we’re nowhere near the church and perhaps not even thinking about spiritual things. So when we’re just going about life, people are deciding whether our life is something they really want to have. If that answer isn’t in our favor, we’ll never have the opportunity to answer it… they’ll make the decision based on what they already see and hear coming out of us every day. So let every day be a day God’s light shines through us! Let everything we say and do be measured against his example! It not only improves our testimony to others… it hones our discipline to even make a spiritual difference in our walk!

  33. Then you will know that I, the Lord , have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying, “They are desolate, they have been given to us for food.”
    Ezekiel 35:12 NET

  34. 12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14 Thus saith the Lord God; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

  35. 12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

Be sure to know that the Lord’s hears all our words. What are our words saying? Does it glorify God? Does it glorify self? Our calling to share the goodness of God. Exalt him and not your own life.

  36. 4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

When God is fed up, he will get his point across. If you were not listening before, now you are. If anyone is going against Gods plan, he will
Show up and stop them. Here we see God defending his people through the mouth of the prophet. Gods plan will take place whether the enemy likes it or not.

  37. 12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

Be careful not to speak against God’s people, God’s man, and/or His church. He hears and does not take lightly any blasphemy against His own. He takes it personally and will defend us! [Isa 31:5 KJV] 5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver [it; and] passing over he will preserve it.
The wise man went as far as saying, don’t even curse God’s leaders or prosperous ones in your heart, for it will be found out….[Ecc 10:20 KJV] 20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

  38. Following the will of God is the only way to make it to heaven. We must learn how to put aside our own desires and do what God’s word has said. Kingdom work is not about what’s in for me, it’s about those that are lost.

  39. 12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

There is NO THING hid from GOD!!! no not even our words……

  40. v5
One of the best ways to eliminate conflicts between believers is to encourage them to pray for each other..
Humble ourselves and pray for each other
” Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for a bother, that he may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16

  41. Verse 2
This oracle against Edom is pair with the oracle to the mountain of Israel on the next chapter. The oracles addressed the issue of Israel’s return from the exile to reoccupy its land.

  42. 5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

The Hebrew word Edom means “red”, and is derived from the name of Esau, son of Isaac, because he was born “red all over”. As a young adult, he sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for “red pottage”. Esau is the father of the Edomites and they have harbored their fathers bitterness and hostility. Instead of helping Israel in their doom they turned the sword to them. Now because they have done this God will avenge Israel the seed of Jacob, Esau’s twin brother. Some decisions can be regretted, but we cannot allow hostility and bitterness to take root because they lead to sin.

  43. 5 Your eternal hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins.

This just shows the hate and discontent for Israel. It’s the get even mentality. Some people rather see people get hurt rather to feel compassion or forgiveness. Don’t carry pride with you that will keep you from forgiving someone.

  44. and as surely as I live, I will punish you for treating my people with anger and hatred. Then they will know that I, the Lord, am punishing you!(Ezekiel 35:11 CEV)

God explains in this verse to Edom that as long as he lives. God said to Edom that he is going to punish them for miss treating his people with anger and hatred in there hearts towards them.
