Hosea 5

Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.

And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

They have dealt treacherously against the Lord: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.

Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

10 The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

12 Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.

13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

  1. Verse 10
    The Law of Solid Ground
    Moved Boundaries
Boundary stones were to be fix and so bring definition to a plot of land Isreael’s leaders moved what never should have been moved, they compromise values. We as Leaders who connot be trusted with basic integrity will surely suffer God’s anger. Every organization need boundaries stones, we must establish and keep them.

Lord help me to be trusted for your Kingdom!!!

  2. THY KINGDOM COME
    THE PAIN OF RESISTANCE

14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.
15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

The KING of Glory desires and deserves the attention and response of HIS people. When we fail to respond to the KING and HIS wishes, opportunities or commands, we leave HIM no options but to create an emptiness that we may desire to SEEK HIM.

When we choose to “Seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD” from our own heart and desire to KNOW HIM we prevent or abort the need for THE PAIN OF RESISTANCE to come to us in affliction to provoke us to SEEK HIM FIRST.

While we are REJOING in 16 Miracles on Friday Night Revival service, we are also presented with opportunity to SEEK HIM Early today with evangelism for HIS Kingdom.

    Lets GO!

  3. In reading this chapter this morning, it reminded me of a word that came to my mind the other day about “urgency” – importance requiring swift action. Sometimes we might think or feel like “Do I have to go do church outreach?”; but the fact of the matter is, we have an extraordinary opportunity every time the Lord gives us another breath to be able to share this good news of Jesus Christ. I had the thought “I have to do outreach”; if I don’t whose lost opportunity will I be giving up? If I don’t, whose last day will be gone? If I don’t, who else will still be blind of the knowledge that someone cares, someone loves them and died for them? Let us (POFW) go and approach every opportunity with such urgency!

  4. 1“Hear this, you priests. Pay attention, you leaders of Israel. Listen, you members of the royal family. Judgment has been handed down against you. For you have led the people into a snare by worshiping the idols at Mizpah and Tabor.

Just like the priest and the leaders of Israel, we are leaders also. As leaders of POFW, we are to set the example for visitors and new converts. As we lead, they will follow. Your a leader at all times, at work and at home. Your coworkers see who you are. Your spouse and children see who you are. Be an example of Jesus every minute of your life, for eyes are upon you, even when you least expect it.

  5. 1 “Hear this, you priests. Pay attention, you leaders of Israel. Listen, you members of the royal family. Judgment has been handed down against you. For you have led the people into a snare by worshiping the idols at Mizpah and Tabor. (NLT)

What are you doing and where are you going? Never doubt that eyes won’t be watching and feet won’t be following, doing as you do. Realize it’s not just your eternity weighing on your choices anymore, it’s the lives around you watching too.

  6. 15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

God has a plan for all our wrong choices: repent and turn again to him, making him our first love. Put him first and keep his ways because our ways are not necessarily his ways.

  7. 15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

God is standing waiting on us to repent and seek His mercy. He’s got a plan for our salvation and it begins with repentance. Our hearts should be quick to seek forgiveness and grace from a God who is ready and willing to show us mercy. Let’s not wait let’s seek his grace today.

  8. 13. But when Ephraim saw how sick he was and Judah saw his open sore, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to the great king for relief. But a foreign ruler can’t cure you; he can’t heal your sore. Voice

A foreign (false) god can’t save you and a foreign (someone else’s) Pastor can’t lead you.

  9. Hosea 5:3-6
    3) I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.
    4) They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.
    5) And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.
    6) They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

Remember: God knows you, and nothing is hidden from Him.
    and
Remember: It’s sin that separates us from God and causes His face to be hidden from us, and He will not hear us.

  10. 13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to the king Karen, yet he cannot cure you, nor heal you of your wound. For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I will tear them and go away, I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.

  11. iLove the Kingdom
15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

This is the whole reason judgement has to happen. This is the whole reason fathers must spank their children. This is the whole reason folks must enter into the justice system. This is the whole reason law and order must abide. The reason is folks must be brought to the place of repentance. When we walk in pride, we are unable to see what we are doing because pride blinds us. But judgement wakes us up and removes the spirit of pride from our hearts. This gives us the opportunity to either repent or to continue in the same path. God desires for us to confess our wicked ways and to turn to Him in prayer.

  12. “I know you, Ephraim, inside and out. Yes, Israel, I see right through you! Ephraim, you’ve played your sex-and-religion games long enough. All Israel is thoroughly polluted. They couldn’t turn to God if they wanted to. Their evil life is a bad habit. Every breath they take is a whore’s breath. They wouldn’t recognize God if they saw me.
    Hosea 5:3‭-‬4 MSG

One thing that my husband has told our children throughout the years is ‘ learn from my mistakes and not your own.’ There is so much to learn from In this passage. Repentance is essential in order for us to live and not die. We must save ourselves from this untoward generation. We must live a life of holiness, and righteousness. GOD is the only way of living and nothing else can compare..

  13. Their actions do not allow them to return to their God, for a spirit of promiscuity is among them, and they do not know the Lord . They go with their flocks and herds to seek the Lord but do not find Him; He has withdrawn from them. The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary markers; I will pour out My fury on them like water. Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, for he is determined to follow what is worthless.
    Hosea 5:4‭, ‬6‭-‬6‭, ‬10‭-‬11 HCSB

They have betrayed the honor of the Lord , bearing children that are not his. Now their false religion will devour them along with their wealth.
    Hosea 5:7 NLT

Things that caused God to withdraw from Israel:
    Their actions
    Promiscuity
Moving boundary markers (cheating others, covetousness)
    Following worthless things
Betraying the honor of God (blaspheming by misrepresenting the holiness of God)
    Idolatry (following false religions)
Adultery (resulting in children who did not know the Lord)
Wealth (gained by ungodly means such as stealing others land by moving boundary markers)

We need to take great care that all that we do and all that we breed honors and glorifies our God.

  14. Amp – The princes of Judah are like those who [d]move a boundary marker;
I will pour out My wrath on them like [an unrestrained flood of] water.

Those that once gave praise, were known to praise Him, now are not as spiritual as they once were. They have removed boundaries that once kept them in line, so to speak. It’s amazing, people despise boundaries that the Church sets in place as standards, but as soon as they step out of those boundaries their relationship with the Lord diminishes and they start partaking of carnal things that cause them to grow cold and indifferent, and many times leads them down the path of deception.

Don’t despise boundaries. They serve their purpose. They keep us unified, they keep us in the area of safety. They are necessary. If we are all left to our own devices, we will be like sheep without a shepherd.

Judges 17:6In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

  15. They have betrayed the honor of the Lord , bearing children that are not his. Now their false religion will devour them along with their wealth. “When Israel and Judah saw how sick they were, Israel turned to Assyria— to the great king there— but he could neither help nor cure them. Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”
    Hosea 5:7‭, ‬13‭-‬13‭, ‬15 NLT

Seek GOD first don’t just seek him when you sick or in the bad but seek him because he worthy to be praise Israel and Judah turn to other gods but the found out shortly that the gods was no help

  16. God forbid that we should reach that place in our relationship with God that he would declare until us what he declared unto Israel. ‘I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.’ The Bible does declare there is an end even to the patience of God, where he gives us over to our own devices. He doesn’t forsake or abandon all hope… he merely sits back in heaven and awaits for us to acknowledge where we are and turn to him again. He after all is God and God alone!

We don’t need to wait until affliction reminds us of where we need be. The Bible declares that as we draw nigh unto him that he will draw nigh into us. That is the pattern God desires. He’ll send affliction if he has to, but his perfect will resides in our whole hearted acceptance and seeking of his will! That doesn’t mean we’ll live a life free of troubles… trials add tribulations will surely come, but they will be part of our proving process. The affliction just grabs our attention… the trying of our faith as we walk in his will does so much more for our souls! Let our minds and hearts remain upon him as we seek to serve according to his perfect will!

  17. Don’t wait until it’s too late to follow God. Now is the time to search for Him because tomorrow may be too late. We cannot keep doing things our own way but we must follow God’s plan. Obedience is keep to a life of holiness.

  18. The priests did not reginize god. God was angry at the priest because they did not listen to him. You have to listen and obey God whenever he tells you something.

  19. 11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

Mm Holy Ghost! There will be a day like days that have already happened where the world will try to break and test us for walking behind the commandments of God! The short but powerful word we received this morning about having authority put a check in most of our spirits and gave us that extra push to really go forward with boldness today and courage and strength. Without God we are just men and women but with him we are Holy men and women of God. He said GO out to the highways and the byways and that’s what we do we Go and we shall continue to Go because it is HE that is doing the MIRACLES SIGNS AND WONDERS!
iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  20. Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”
    Hosea 5:15 NLT

  21. 1 Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

  22. 6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
One of the worst places to be in is when God withdraws himself from you. Israel had so grieved Him that He would not be found of them and then as later verses declare, He pours out His wrath upon them.

  23. 15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

How long does God unnecessarily wait until we put our stubbornness aside and admiit our faults. He desires to use us mightily for His kingdom. Yet, he witholds blessings and using us to the full potential he desires until we have completely turned away from what is hindering us and submit to Him. We are not just hurting ourselves but also those whom God desires to place in our path to be a witness of Him unto them.

  24. Josiah: 5 And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.
Pride cometh before fall. In our spiritual life we have the options of growing closer to God which I choose or not growing closer to God. However, if we allow pride, attitudes of this world, and things of this world into our life then our spiritual growth with God will be hindered. However, when we continue to seek Godly attitudes, things and lives and continue refusing things of this world then we will grow closer to God. So, let us GO SEEK a closer relationship with God. Let us SEEK FIRST the Kingdom of God!

  25. Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
2 And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.
3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

Good will do whatever it takes to get our attention on Earth

  26. “Hear this, you priests. Pay attention, you leaders of Israel. Listen, you members of the royal family. Judgment has been handed down against you. For you have led the people into a snare by worshiping the idols at Mizpah and Tabor.
    Hosea 5:1 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.5.1.NLT

As His children we must be aware that the world is watching us ans what we do. We must always represent Jesus and His principles. We are leaders whether we no it or not and we must lead this world to Jesus.

  27. I will be like a lion to Israel, like a strong young lion to Judah. I will tear them to pieces! I will carry them off, and no one will be left to rescue them. Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”
    Hosea 5:14‭-‬15 NLT

Sometimes the trouble that we see some of our loved ones go through is that they will seek after God. He knows us best and allows certain things that we know who is the one that truly loves.

  28. 15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

The purpose of the affliction or judgment brought upon Ephraim and Judah is for them to recognize their wrong doing. They will seek for God in their trouble and not find him and instead of waiting upon the Lord they will turn to the Assyrian king and find no refuge. The only place we can find peace in the storm is in the arms of our Savior.

  29. “They have dealt treacherously against the Lord: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    Strange children

These are children that are not given of God. They came a way that was outside of his original plan. Maybe they were natural children, people marrying into nations that were against what God wanted. Or maybe it was the “offspring” of their actions. Their “children” are the fruit of what they do. If they are truthful and obey their actions are not strange, but if they do as they wish instead of what God said, their “children” from the fruit of their actions are strange.

Either way what ever was supposed to be theirs is now going to be consumed instead of inherited.
