Hosea 6

Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

10 I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

11 Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.

  1. Verse 11 MSG ““You’re as bad as the worst of them, Judah. You’ve been sowing wild oats. Now it’s harvest time.” You reap what you sow; so, be careful and heed these warnings.

Galatians 6:7-8 MSG says “Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.” Galatians 6:7 AMP “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap.”

  2. 6 I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings. (NLT)

Don’t get caught up in going through the motions, just going through your daily checklist of to-do’s to get the job done. God desires relationship.

  3. 3 Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning, He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth.

  4. 4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.
5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
7 But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

God is not very hard to figure out in most cases as some people think that he is. It is very simple to understand that all God wants is for us to love him and one another. Over half the sins, if not all of them, we’re committed because of a lack of love for their God. All of the laws from Exodus down to Deuteronomy can be summed up into two different categories. Abominations to God and Abomination two man. Even though methods have changed when it comes to being forgiven, God still hates everything that was an Abomination to him. He desires Mercy over anger and love over hatred, and he will every single time. Most of the sinful lives people live can be rectified simply with love and repentance

  5. 6. For I want not animal sacrifices, but mercy. I don’t want burnt offerings; I want people to KNOW Me as God! Voice

    Philippians 3:
    8. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of KNOWing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ

    9. and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

    10. I want to KNOW Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

    11. so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! NLT

  6. 4“O Israela and Judah, what should I do with you?” asks the LORD.

Just imagine how times has the God said this about each one of us, “(Your name) what should I do with you?” As we sin daily, whether intentionally or unaware we are. By God’s grace and mercy, he continues to forgive of our sins.

Just like your own child, they may continue to do the wrong thing, but as a parent we forgive them. As a parent, you too have grace and mercy just like God.

  7. iLove the Kingdom

    Hosea 6:11 NLT
    (11) “O Judah, a harvest of punishment is also waiting for you, though I wanted to restore the fortunes of My people.

Wow, this scripture in the NLT is deep. God is correcting his people like a father might correct their children. God is wanting to restore the fortune of his people but he cannot restore the fortunes until the pride of his people is broken. Kinda like us blessing little pookie with a snowcone for getting in a fight at school. It ain’t happening… How can folks expect blessings without repentance…

  8. THY KINGDOM COME
    HARVEST

1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

REVIVAL is returning to that which once was, we learn here the promise of the Harvest, when the CHURCH (The PEOPLE) RETURN to the LORD or have REVIVAL.

When the servants of the KING, the people of the Blood bought name of JESUS are willing to REPENT and turn away from sin, even carnality in the heart, mind and body. Cease participating in sinful thoughs and acts, forgive those that have hurt or wronged us, love one another and participate in The KINGDOM; through prayer, praise and participation.

The WORD of the LORD has promised that HE will be PREPARED as the MORNING and HE shall come to us as RAIN. The former, the hard rushing RAIN and the latter, the soft gentle harvest RAIN.

Lets do our part today and RETURN to the LORD through REPENTANCE and WORSHIP.

  9. Hosea 6 :6 (English Amp) For I desire and delight indutiful steadfast love and goodness, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of and acquaintance with God more than burnt offerings. [ Matthew, 9:13] Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [ to repentance] the righteous ( those who are upright and in right standing with God), But sinners ( the erring ones and all those not free from sin). Let’s all come to repentance and giving praises to our , Think about the goodness of the Lord. Amen and Amen.

  10. Hosea 6. Message
7 “What am I to do with you, Ephraim?
What do I make of you, Judah?
Your declarations of love last no longer
than morning mist and predawn dew.
That’s why I use prophets to shake you to attention,
why my words cut you to the quick:
To wake you up to my judgment
    blazing like light.
I’m after love that lasts, not more religion.
I want you to know God, not go to more prayer meetings.
You broke the covenant—just like Adam!
You broke faith with me—ungrateful wretches!

    The Prayer Meeting
Every morning at five I would pray
I thought it was my requirement to say I had prayed.
The clock would tick by oh so slow and I’d contually
watch it to see when it would be finally time to get up and go.
Many times falling asleep but still I had a promise to keep.
Years went by til one day I became ill and sitting in my chair I heard a voice say now you are still. I knew it to be the voice of God as tears began to flow . He ever so gently said now you can really get to know me. I’ve given you this time so I can clear your mind.
Instead of just praying let me speak to your soul.
That day changed my life forever . I had just become acquainted with the Lover of my soul. There’s much more to this story but time and space would not be enough.
Now no longer is a prayer meeting just a task but it is a time of conversation with a meaning that last. The clock now goes by way too fast and I long to linger but know I must get on with daily tasks.
So if you find your prayer meetings are just to say you’ve prayed I admonish you to get acquainted with the ONE to whom you pray.

    Be Still and Know Him
    To Know
have developed a relationship with (someone) through meeting and spending time with them; be familiar or friendly with.
    “he knew and respected Laura”
    synonyms: be acquainted with, have met, be familiar with;

  11. “Come and let us return [in repentance] to the Lord , For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. “So let us know and become personally acquainted with Him; let us press on to know and understand fully the [greatness of the] Lord [to honor, heed, and deeply cherish Him]. His appearing is prepared and is as certain as the dawn, And He will come to us [in salvation] like the [heavy] rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth.”
    HOSEA 6:1‭, ‬3 AMP
Glory to God! Just to know that I do not have to say in my sinful nature. To know within myself that can come to a merciful God and have life! The LORD restores and heals. I seen this last night, and I am thankful and blessed❤💙
‘ Come let us sing, let us rejoice!’

  12. 1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

Sometimes through the correction of the Lord we are battered and torn. Most of the time it is because we are not willing to submit our ways to Him, therefore we fight against ourselves. However, the same God that sends us to the trial, is the same God that will heal us when we come out of the trial. Let’s humble ourselves, rid ourselves of pride, and repent so that we can be healed and restored.

  13. What am I going to do with you, Ephraim? What am I going to do with you, Judah? Your loyalty is like the morning mist and like the early dew that vanishes. For I desire loyalty and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
    Hosea 6:4‭, ‬6 HCSB

No husband or wife can take the words “I love you” seriously when they know that their spouse is committing adultery. Likewise, all our words of praise, church attendance, offerings, etc., mean nothing to the Lord if not coupled with loyalty and faithfulness. He doesn’t want us to go through the motions of religious duty; He wants us to commit our hearts in a faithful love that makes Him Lord of all. And not just Lord, but Savior, friend, Father, everything. There is no true devotion without loyalty.

  14. In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence. I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.
    Hosea 6:2‭, ‬6 NLT
I got want us we want to love us Israel and Judah GOD want them but Israel and Judah keep putting a wall between GOD the keep breaking covernment and disobeying GoD when are we going to realize that GOD calling us to his presence

  15. “I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Wow look at God right here! He said it, “I want you to know me more than I want burnt sacrifices”. Now he’s not saying forget your sacrifices no not at all. God sees those things but what He really wants is your relationship with him to Grow He wants it to be strong. Could you imagine if we done His will over our own. We often times say “Lord I can’t do that but here’s a sacrifice instead.” We’re not seeing the full picture we’re not seeing the relationship He wants with us. He is a provider, He is a healer, He is a miracle worker! Step up to God and restore the lost time you haven’t spent with him through prayer and fasting. Find where you are with Him then ask yourself is this REALLY where you want to be.

iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  16. Hosea 6:6 (NLT)
“I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.”

St. Mark 12:33 says, “And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

  17. Many claim to know the Lord. They believe they can know him in isolation on their own terms. The prophet however declares ‘Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord:’ He wasn’t speaking of knowing something as in knowing that God exists. We do believe that in faith as we come to him, but we don’t really know who he is. If we want to know him, we have to make a conscious choice to follow. Not just to have heard of him, but to have taken the time to get to know who he is for ourselves! We need to build a relationship.

That becomes a struggle for so many today and because they never take the time to learn who God is themselves, they lose sight of the why. They slowly take steps that don’t appear to be too far from the path and then wake up one day and wonder where the path is. They never meant to leave it, but they didn’t take the time to make it personal. When God gets their attention and they realize the need to reestablish themselves, this same verse says ‘Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.’ He’ll do whatever it takes to return us to the fold, for it is his desire to raise us up that we shall live in his sight. His going forth is already prepared and his desire is for us to be there with him. ‘He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.’ Let his spirit rain down on us! Let us follow after him with all our heart, all our mind, and all our strength!

  18. 3 Then shall we know, IF we FOLLOW on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
God desires a deeper relationship with us not just one that is an acquaintance of His. This provisional promise of latter and former rain (double blessing that produces much harvest) is contingent upon us foIlowing (to be behind, follow after, pursue, chase, run after, and attend closely upon) the Lord. Let us pursue Him with everything within us!!! He is our prize, our reward, our goal and as we follow Him, He brings forth much fruit through us.

  19. 1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

How bad do we want our loved ones saved? To what extent are we willing to pray for those that turned away from this truth? The prodigal son had to lose everything, work in a pig pen and be practically starving before he realized that he wanted to come home.Whatever it takes Lord to bring them back is my heartfelt prayer. Any trial, tribulation, heartache, situation and pain that brings them back to Jesus is worth them not being lost for all eternity.

  20. 1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

The same God who judged His people is the same God who will mend his people. The same God who inflicted His people is the same God who will heal His people. We serve a God who is merciful and desires to help us and not destroy us a God who has our best interest in mind. Thanks be to God for his great mercy and power in our lives.

  21. 7 But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

8 Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.
We cant expect reap good if we arent soweth good. God is a just and fair God to the good and the bad.

  22. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

He rose up on the third day. And now that he has risen, we can now live.

  23. 6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
7 But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

If we would return to God on our own, he would give mercy and grace rather than punishments. It’s time for the people of God to come home.

  24. 1-3 “Come on, let’s go back to God. He hurt us, but he’ll heal us.
He hit us hard, but he’ll put us right again. In a couple of days we’ll feel better. By the third day he’ll have made us brand-new, Alive and on our feet, fit to face him. We’re ready to study God, eager for God-knowledge. As sure as dawn breaks, so sure is his daily arrival. He comes as rain comes, as spring rain refreshing the ground.”

He breaks us down to let his light shine through and builds us up where we can reflect his light. God you bring me alive in my life daily! God how great you are! I can hear the rain coming, hear the revival coming now!

  25. 3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

God is someone who we can always count on. In the times of trouble we can count on Him to be there to encourage us, to bring us up, to bring us through. In times of famine or distress or troubling times, we can always count on Him to be there for us, to provide for us, to provide a way when there seems to be no way. Truly God is merciful and great to do this for us. Even if we may not see Him working right then, we can go knowing that He will be there for us in the future, working out a way for us. GOD is Great! And truly nothing is too great for Him to handle.

  26. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

    Revive
    Raise up
    Live

Not only does God desire to revive us but He wants to take us further than we ar now and cause us to live in a new place in Him. Let us understand that revive means that something you once had is restored but to raise up means to go beyond or go higher. It’s not enough to be revived but we must go further and then abide there or make a life there in Him.

  27. Verse 6
God has always wanted religious activity to reflect what is in the heart. The importance of the sacrificial system, which God Himself had given, is not denied, but God’s plan for sacrifice, which was to be an outward manifestation of inner faith, is defined. The outward rituals are meaningless to Him unless “mercy” and the “knowledge of God “ form the inward reality.

  28. I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.
    Hosea 6:6 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.6.6.NLT

Love is greater than sacrifice. We can do anything in His kingdom but if we do not show love everything is in vain. We need to show this community that there is a church that loves them and cares for them. We must be willing to show them how much we love them even though we don’t know them.

  29. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

When you get to know God in a more personal way, you see things very differently. When before I used to see problems NOW I see Souls being filled with the HG, when I used to see trials come to my life NOW I see souls being baptized in Jesus Name!! Because of my increase in knowing God I have learned to trust Him, be sensitive to His spirit, and learn to do His Will!!

  30. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

We cannot despise the down time. God is always teaching and instructing. When things are seeming at their worst and all Hell has broken loose in your life, we have to do a couple things. One is to know that God is up to something and he won’t leave us there forever. Two is to look for the lesson, ask God to show us or reveal to us what he’s trying to teach . Three is to understand that our joy doesn’t come from this world but rather Jesus. Maybe God is Judy trying to get our attention. And maybe most importantly knowing that we are coming out in the third day.

  31. 1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

  32. Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

8 Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

9 And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

10 I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

11 Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.

Those who have gone from God by consent, and in a body, drawing one another to sin, should, by consent and in a body, return to him, which will be for his glory, and their good. It will be of great use for support under afflictions, and to encourage our repentance, to keep up good thoughts of God, and of his purposes and designs concerning us. Deliverance out of trouble should be to them as life from the dead. God will revive them: the assurance of this should engage them to return to him. But this seems to have a further reference to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let us admire the wisdom and goodness of God, that when the prophet foretold the deliverance of the church out of her troubles, he should point out our salvation by Christ; and now these words are fulfilled in the resurrection of Christ, it confirms our faith, that this is He that should come and we are to look for no other. Here is a precious blessing promised; this is life eternal, to know God. The returns of the favour of God are secured to us as firmly as the return of the morning after a dark night. He shall come to us as the latter and former rain unto the earth, which refreshes it, and makes it fruitful. The grace of God in Christ is both the latter and the former rain; and by it the good work of our fruit-bearing is begun and carried on. And as the Redeemer was raised from the grave, so will He revive the hearts and hopes of all that trust in him. The feeblest glimpse of hope in his word, is a sure earnest of increasing light and comfort, which shall be attended with purifying, comforting grace that makes fruitful.

  33. Hosea 6:4-6
4 “What can I do with you, Ephraim?
What can I do with you, Judah?
Your love is like the morning mist,
like the early dew that disappears.
    5
Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets,
I killed you with the words of my mouth—
then my judgments go forth like the sun.[a]
    6
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.

Stop going through the motions, God is looking for intimacy not lip service.

Do we like the harsh treatment from God? Sometimes that what it seems like! Let God be God.

  34. 6
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.

He wants us to display that same love that is in Him. He wants us to know him.

  35. Let’s do our best to know the Lord. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.(Hosea 6:3 CEV)

We know that if we surround ourselves to God and give everything to him that he knows what’s best for us in ourlives. God will restore us with strength just like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.

  36. 2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

This reminds me of the resurrection power of Jesus. He died for our sins and he’ll could not hold him. The enemy doesn’t have the keys to his own home. Death has no sting for Jesus has the keys and miraculous power to revive anything. He can raise up an army out of the dry bones. This is why we can come to God with great faith that even in a bleak situation he can turn it all around for his glory.

  37. “Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God will correct us, but when he does he will also ensure that we are well again. We will get our punishment, but we won’t be left broken. He will hold us and he will be well again.

The big idea to us is that we not only get held when things are bad, but that we STOP doing the actions that got us corrected in the first place. When we finally do stop it shows a repented heart.
