Hosea 9

Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

They shall not dwell in the Lord‘s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

They shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord.

What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?

For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

12 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

13 Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.

14 Give them, O Lord: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

16 Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

  1. Verse 17 ERV “Those people will not listen to my God, so he will refuse to listen to them. And they will wander among the nations without a home.” Listen: give one’s attention to.

Proverbs 3:6-7 MSG says “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!”

  2. 4 They shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the Lord.
5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?
6 For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

If someone is not careful, they can fall away and become captive again by the very same thing they were set free from. We should be mindful of our first love and what brought us to Christ to begin with. Keeping what God made sacred close to our hearts, allwing the love for our God to consume us and keep us free

  3. Hosea 9:3 (English Amp) They shall not remain in the Lord’s land, But Ephraim shall remain to ( another) Egypt and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria. [ Ezekiel 4:13. And the Lord said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the nation’s to whom I will drive them.Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning; to him altars are intended for sinning. He also was [ intended to be a watchman with God. The people weren’t listening to God, they were doing there own thing. You should build your altar on God kingdom, Repent, forgive, Deliverance, In Jesus name.

  4. 10 “…But then they deserted me for Baal-peor, giving themselves to that shameful idol. Soon they became vile, as vile as the god they worshiped.” NLT

The more you worship things in this world (objects, people, etc), the more worldly you become; but the more you worship God, the more like Him you become.
It’s all about where your focus is. When we focus on His Kingdom, we’ll become more Kingdom-minded, and the other things we need and used to focus on “shall be added unto” us.

  5. 1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

    1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

When a blessing turns into a curse, when we greatful for the blessing more then the giver of the blessing.
When we do things because of the reward and not because God is worthy.
When we misuse or not give God what is his, we curse ourselves.

  6. The time of Israel’s punishment has come; the day of payment is here. Soon Israel will know this all too well. Because of your great sin and hostility, you say, “The prophets are crazy and the inspired men are fools!” The prophet is a watchman over Israel for my God, yet traps are laid for him wherever he goes. He faces hostility even in the house of God. My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations.
    Hosea 9:7‭-‬8‭, ‬17 NLT
The man’s of GOD are not crazy but they not there men that heard from GOD and now try to warn us
Listen to the warning don’t rejecting like a Israel
    But obey

  7. This question is still important in our walk with God. ‘What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?’ We recognize the context in which it was given, but look at the words of the question that is asked. What will we do? Not only in the days of feasting and rejoicing, everyone wants to be part of the kingdom in those days, but what about the days that appear to be dark and solemn. We should still have his joy within, but what do we do when things around us don’t paint a pretty picture of things to come. What about those times when we just don’t know what the future has in store?

The context goes even further. It’s speaking of the most solemn of days when judgment is going to be meted out, when our measure will determine whether we’ll be part of that feast or not, but by then it’s going to be too late. If we haven’t made up or minds by then, our judgment will be no different than the children of Israel. ‘My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him…’

We don’t need to be cast aside. We need to have a made up mind that he is God and God alone… and he is worthy of our praise! We need to determine that we will do what is needful regardless of what is transpiring around us. We need to know beforehand, because no decision so important should have to be made when everything appears to be pressing against us. We need a relationship that allows his peace to reign within that truly surpasses all earthly understanding! We need to press toward the mark of our calling and be willing to exert ourselves with passion until that day when he welcomes us into our reward!

  8. 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

God will forget our sins if we repent and follow him.

Micah 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

  9. 17 My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations. (NLT)

How long will you search for “happiness?” How long will you search to “find yourself?” This generation is all about doing what feels good and what pleases me, myself, and I. Like wandering Isreal, they seek joy in material things, they seek peace in labeling themselves as wanderers. If only we could step in to lead their misguided lives to Christ – oh wait, we can!! Don’t wait until it’s too late!

  10. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

What a scary place to consider; a castaway of God. The word castaway means to throw, fling, or send away; to throw off. Being rejected by God is a result of a person’s refusal of the knowledge of God. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from being My priest. And because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children” (Hosea 4:6).

God is always open to a person with a repentant and humble heart. However, God cannot accept us when we are living in deliberate opposition to His will. I believe God’s purpose in telling people they are castaway is to motivate them to seek Him and call upon Him. If God truly wanted people destroy anyone person, He would keep them blind to their fate. Once a person realizes their predicament, they might call out to God for help. Then the Lord would be compelled to keep his word and restore them.

  11. 1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

Idolatry………is like committing adultery when you leave your first love for an idol which could be anything……..idolatry isn’t anything to play around in. Its not just for a certain type of people, it happens all the time…….

  12. “My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭9:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is calling us to be obedient and listen. We must listen to God and the spiritual leadership over us.

“Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.”
    ‭‭2 John‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:17‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.””
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:1-3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  13. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

I pray in Jesus name for my friends and family that they do not wait too late.
When you call and call someone or texted and texted someone and they never answer you soon give up. I then say just one more time with hope they will answer . Oh how sad God must feel when He has called and called and yet they do not answer. Don’t wait too late. Seek Him while He may be found. In Jesus name.

  14. iLove the Kingdom

17My God will reject the people of Israel
because they will not listen or obey.

Wisdom had gone forth but the people of God had refused to listen…God was ticked off with the children of Israel. Then had been worshipping Baalpeor, which was a god of sexual acts. God was disgusted with his people.

  15. O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and look at our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our supplications before You because of our own merits and righteousness, but because of Your great mercy and compassion. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! Do not delay, for Your own sake, O my God, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”
    DANIEL 9:18‭-‬19 AMP

Lord have mercy on us there’s not much difference between then and now some of us have used and abused mercy like they did.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  16. Don’t waste your life in wild orgies, Israel. Don’t party away your life with the heathen. You walk away from your God at the drop of a hat and like a whore sell yourself promiscuously at every sex-and-religion party on the street. All that party food won’t fill you up. You’ll end up hungrier than ever. At this rate you’ll not last long in God ’s land: Some of you are going to end up bankrupt in Egypt. Some of you will be disillusioned in Assyria. As refugees in Egypt and Assyria, you won’t have much chance to worship God — Sentenced to rations of bread and water, and your souls polluted by the spirit-dirty air. You’ll be starved for God , exiled from God ’s own country. Will you be homesick for the old Holy Days? Will you miss festival worship of God ? Be warned! When you escape from the frying pan of disaster, you’ll fall into the fire of Egypt. Egypt will give you a fine funeral! What use will all your god-inspired silver be then as you eke out a living in a field of weeds?
    Hosea 9:1‭-‬6 MSG

Why are so nany people( Christians) pkaying with sin? They dont see how yhere is a deep spirtual consequences. Some are paving they’re way straight to the outer darkness!!! Jesus open the eyes of those whom are spiritually dead and bound ny the sin!
Daily we choose either to live or die. My hope is you choose to live, dont go astray from a loving GOD. He came to this earth to save and have eternal life!!

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Romans 6:23 KJV

  17. “The people of Israel are struck down. Their roots are dried up, and they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children.””
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭9:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Whatever it takes right? Anyone else fear the Lord right now. Hosea was walking in the Holy Ghost this day he didn’t put no icing on the cake 🍰. Surround yourself with other God hungry people that will help you stay in check. Go be Blessed today in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  18. THY KINGDOM COME
    PROTECTION FROM CASTAWAY

17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

GOD will cast them away or they will become a castaway if they (we) fail to hearken unto HIM. As we have repeatedly witnessed, there is grave danger in doing our own will, serving our own purpose and following our own path and plan.

The apostle Paul expressed his own concern in regards to becoming a castaway.

1Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Castaway – 96. adokimos; unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally): — castaway, rejected, reprobate.

    Castaway – 1 : thrown away : rejected
2 a : cast adrift or ashore as a survivor of a shipwreck
b : thrown out or left without friends or resources

The PROTECTION FROM CASTAWAY that we have immediate access to is SUBMISSION. Submission to the will of GOD, the WORD of GOD and the Man of GOD.

The Kingdom of GOD functions on the structure and order of GOD himself. JESUS possesses all knowledge, while we operate on partial knowledge. For this cause we submit to and obey the commissions and commands given by the LORD JESUS.

  19. 14 Give them, O Lord: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

My God but a cursed placed to be! This verse is saying you will not be able to have children and even if for some reason you do, you will not be able to feed them.

This would be an awful place for the church to be. Lord help us to be obedient to Your word and lead us to a place of fruitfulness and give us a desire to serve and lead them into a relationship with you. Let us be willing to pray for them and teach them until they are effectively operating in the Body of Christ.

  20. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

  21. I discovered Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers like the first fruit of the fig tree in its first season. But they went to Baal-peor, consecrated themselves to Shame, and became detestable, like the thing they loved.
    Hosea 9:10 HCSB
    https://bible.com/bible/72/hos.9.10.HCSB

    You become what you behold.
    Garbage in; garbage out.
We’ve heard these and similar sayings all our lives, but now the word of God is telling us that we become like those things that we consecrate ourselves to and love.

Can we say the opposite? Can we say that if we’re not becoming like our God, it is because we haven’t consecrated ourselves to Him? That’s a scary thought, that others can tell what I love, what I’ve given myself to, by how I act, what I say, how I dress, what I spend my time and money on. Many times, without even speaking to someone, we can tell that they love the Cowboys, their pets, their rock group, or their kids. What can people tell about me before I ever speak a word?

If I’ve consecrated myself to Christ, then everyone around me should know within a few minutes of being in my presence that I love the Lord and that I serve Him. If they don’t know this about me, then I need to check who or what it is I really have consecrated myself to.

  22. 13. I have watched Israel become as beautiful as Tyre.
But now Israel will bring out her children for slaughter.”

Would we worship idols if we knew it would sacrifice our own children?

Although our children may not physically die, the harm of the consequences of our actions can hinder our children.

We cannot be one way in church and another way at home, our children witness every move we make.

Reminds me of the song: “be careful little feet where you go for its the little feet behind you that are sure to follow”

  23. 10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

When the Lord brings us to him in the very beginning of our walk with Him, we are cleansed and made whole and start on a path of holiness, striving to be pleasing to Him. He is our first love. Yet, the things of life can clutter this path and our walk with Him as we allow idols to creep in… When I say idols, I mean things that come first before Him. Things that become more important than Him. Then we have become like this verse-separated unto that shame. But if we search our lives and heart and look for anything that might be there hindering us, He is willing to forgive as we forsake those ways. He is a God of restoration.

  24. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

Getting out of the Will of God is a dangerous place to be.

  25. Hosea 9:17, “My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.”

It all comes down to LISTENING and OBEDIENCE. Listen to God through the reading of His Word or the Man of God, and Obeying His Word or what the Man of God says.
LISTEN and OBEY and you won’t become a Cast Away!

  26. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

Last chapter it said that Israel cast of the good thing, this chapter God cast them away, because they did not listen. So before Israel sowed casting off good thing and now they reap God himself casting them off. May I learn the lesson that this Israel did not and not cast away the things of God. But hold them tight, learn their precepts and ways, learn about the faithful servant, so that God does not cast me away in this life or the next.

  27. 8 The prophet is a watchman over Israelb for my God, yet traps are laid for him wherever he goes. He faces hostility even in the house of God.

Thank God we have a prophet for POFW in Bro Guy. Someone who warn us on issues and give us good news. I bet he has faced opposition from within the church who don’t accept his prophetic message. But God has sent him to be our prophet for our church, and we should be wise to listen to his words.

  28. My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations.
    Hosea 9:17 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.9.17.NLT

We should take this as a warning for our lives. We can be wanderers, struggling for money, homeless. Not having anything in our lives, no joy, no peace in our heart. All because we choose not to obey! We need to learn to Submit not only to God and His Word but also those in authority over us. God honors this and He won’t reject us from His Kingdom

  29. 17 My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations. (NLT)

God has no obligation to listen to us or be concerned with us if we are not willing to be obedient to Him. Our lack of obedience will cause us to be wanderers and homeless without any real direction. We need God and leaders to help steer us in the right direction and to help us not to reject God but to accept God.

  30. Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

3 They shall not dwell in the Lord‘s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

Israel gave rewards to their idols, in the offerings presented to them. It is common for those who are niggardly in religion, to be prodigal upon their lusts. Those are reckoned as idolaters, who love a reward in the corn-floor better than a reward in the favour of God and in eternal life. They are full of the joy of harvest, and have no disposition to mourn for sin. When we make the world, and the things of it, our idol and our portion, it is just with God to show us our folly, and correct us. None may expect to dwell in the Lord’s land, who will not be subject to the Lord’s laws, or be influenced by his love. When we enjoy the means of grace, we ought to consider what we shall do, if they should be taken from us. While the pleasures of communion with God are out of the reach of change, the pleasant places purchased with silver, or in which men deposit silver, are liable to be laid in ruins. No famine is so dreadful as that of the soul.

  31. GOD’S people should be separate themselves unto HIM….
Not just separated from the world, but separated unto GOD.
Our relationship with GOD is just as important as our turning from the desires of this world . ( MEANING A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD)

When we no longer enjoy fellowship with JESUS, then we begin to enjoy the world.
I choose to find pleasure and joy in JESUS!!!
We are a HOLY nation unto GOD and to HIM only.

  32. I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal–peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
    Hosea 9:10 KJV

  33. 10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Surely God is a jealous God! This is one of many example throughout the old testament of how the children of Israel separated themselves from God and decided to serve the gods of the world. Every time that they turned back to God they found favour in God’s eyes, often God would bless them beyond measure; bless their cattle, bless their fruits, bless their families. Truly God does so much for us, there is never a good reason to turn away from Him. Even today, although I may think that I am not turning away and serving other gods, I have to be careful that the things that things i use for entertainment or to use up time, does not serve in the place of the gods that Israel fell to. GOD is too good to turn away from and frivalously waste this precious short amount of time here on earth. Praise the Lord for His mighty acts! For His mercy and for His love.

  34. Verse 11
God’s judgment of Israel would be so severe that it would strip them of their “glory”, which in this context refers to their offspring. The future generation would have assured their community in the land, but they would be cut off from that. To emphasize the barrenness that would affect the land, God mentioned all three stages of human development. God’s people would be painfully denied the children for whom they most longed.

  35. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

  36. The Lord says, “All their wickedness began at Gilgal; there I began to hate them. I will drive them from my land because of their evil actions. I will love them no more because all their leaders are rebels. The people of Israel are struck down. Their roots are dried up, and they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children.” My God will reject the people of Israel because they will not listen or obey. They will be wanderers, homeless among the nations.
    Hosea 9:15‭-‬17 NLT

Submission it’s just God’s way. Listen and obey that is all that is asked from the people of God. Listen to God’s commands obey his words and you shall find life.

  37. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
When God casts you away, there is no hope…..You are left to wander aimlessly through life without God on your side.

  38. God knows

1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

Just like the prophesy that came on Sunday night, God doesn’t miss anything. Just because people look happy and well off in the church, God knows the whole truth. If you only serve God for the benifits, you are not serving God, you are using him.

  39. 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

  40. 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

God gives us every opportunity to bear fruit but it’s true like the saying that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. God will never violate the free will he has given us. However if we turn from his word and turn a deaf ear toward him, then he will refuse to listen to us in our time of trouble. God gives us guidance and direction and when we disobey we are at risk of wandering or drifting so far from God that we travel aimlessly into the abyss toward death blindfolded.

  41. 8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

This Chapter is warning Israel that God knows of their hatfulneess towards the prophets and towards his temple. The Lord angers towards this he knows Israel has disobeyed him and will judge them to death he’s not putting up with it. Hes’made up his mind. God is merciful and has all power if we seek him and make him first he will love you otherwise his anger towards you will be death upon judgement.
