Hosea 10

Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the Lord; what then should a king do to us?

They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.

The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.

10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.

11 And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.

12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.

15 So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.

  1. Verse 12 AMP “Sow with a view to righteousness [that righteousness, like seed, may germinate]; Reap in accordance with mercy and lovingkindness.
Break up your uncultivated ground, For it is time to seek and search diligently for the Lord [and to long for His blessing] Until He comes to rain righteousness and His gift of salvation on you.”

Matthew 13:23 AMP “And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.” Same verse MSG “The seed cast on good earth is the person who hears and takes in the News, and then produces a harvest beyond his wildest dreams.”

Mark 4:20 AMP “And those [in the last group] are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word [of God, the good news regarding the way of salvation] and accept it and bear fruit—thirty, sixty, and a hundred times as much [as was sown].”

  2. 9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them
10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.

12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

One thing I grew up learning was that no matter what my punishment from my father was was that he loved me. No matter how mad he got at me I never doubted that he loved me and I’ve always thought it strange to believe otherwise just because he was punishing me. My father taught me right from wrong based on my choices it was always good about teaching me about the consequences of my actions. I can remember crying through my punishments but I never once doubted that he loved me. The Bible tells us that the Lord chastises whom he loves and we must never forget that when God deals with us about something it is because he cares. It seems so simple yet at the same time that same concept call escape is when are emotions are flared up by our chastisement. We must Trust that when the Lord deals with us, it is always out of love.

  3. Hosea10:8 (English Amp) The high places also of Aven (once Beth( el) house of God,now (Beth-) Aven, house of ldolatry; the thore and the thistle shall come up on their ( idol) al- tars, and they shall say to the mountains,Cover us ! And to the hills, Fall on us! [ Rev.6:16] And they called to the mountains and the rocks. Fall on before us and hide us from the face of Him Who sits on the throne and from the deep- seated indignation and wrath of the Lamb. The Lord see everything you are doing, You can’t hide nothing from from him. We are all going to be judge , My prayer, Today is Reviel of Souls to be saved. Every soul matters to God and me.

  4. 12. Plant a crop of RIGHTEOUSNESS for yourselves, harvest the fruit of unfailing love, And break up your hard soil, because it’s time to SEEK the Eternal until He comes and waters your fields with justice. Voice

    Isaiah 51:
    1. Hearken to me, ye that follow after RIGHTEOUSNESS, ye that SEEK the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

    3. For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

    7. Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

    8. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation. KJV

  5. 10:2 their heat is decided ; now shall they be found faulty, he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
—— there is it: their heart is decided…. can’t make up their mind, half way devoted, halve way given themselves to the Lord. Desk being being forced to obey. Undecided, double minded, a apparently their flesh is winning.
    I repent
    I pray
    I praise
    I obey….

  6. Hosea 10:12-13
    12) Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy: break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
    13) Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

“Sowing and Reaping” in “Flesh or Spirit”
    Galatians 6:7-8
    7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
    8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

  7. Hosea 10:13 msg You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors,

Proverbs 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity : and the rod of his anger shall fail.

  8. 12 I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’ (NLT)

This is our season to reap what has been sown. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done!!

  9. They spout empty words and make covenants they don’t intend to keep. So injustice springs up among them like poisonous weeds in a farmer’s field.
    Hosea 10:4 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.10.4.NLT

Every commitment we make, every promise we speak must be kept. Not only does that show our character and integrity but it also keeps curse from our lives. We must do what we say we are going to do.

  10. 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  11. iLove the Kingdom
“How prosperous Israel is— a luxuriant vine loaded with fruit. But the richer the people get, the more pagan altars they build. The more bountiful their harvests, the more beautiful their sacred pillars.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭10:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow, this is the reason some folks can’t have Goshen. The Word says the richer they get the more pagan alters are built. Wow, this tells me God really wants to bless his people but we destroy ourselves.

  12. “Israel is a luxuriant and prolific vine; He produces fruit for himself. The more his fruit, The more altars he made [to Baal]; The richer his land, The better he made the [idolatrous] pillars.”
    ‭‭HOSEA‬ ‭10:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Sin will take you farther than you want to go. And it will keep you longer and you want to stay. We must end this vicious cycle of sin. Cut it off and destroy it from our lives.

“So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. Be miserable and grieve and weep [over your sin]. Let your [foolish] laughter be turned to mourning and your [reckless] joy to gloom. Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].”
    ‭‭JAMES‬ ‭4:7-10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  13. Hosea 10
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

God always leaves room for repentance. He is waiting for the return of those once serving Him with their whole heart. Just take a step and He will be right there waiting.. Come all wounded and marred by sin and heartache. God waits with Hus arms opened wide. It is time to seek Him once again.

  14. This idol will be carted away to Assyria, a gift to the great king there. Ephraim will be ridiculed and Israel will be shamed, because its people have trusted in this idol.
    Hosea 10:6 NLT

Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?
    Isaiah 2:22 NLT

“Do not put your trust in idols or make metal images of gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.
    Leviticus 19:4 NLT

  15. 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

The heart is divided is the root cause here to me. We can’t serve both God and this world. We must forsake one and cling to the other meaning we must forsake the world and the pleasures of sin to gain a relationship with God and receive his promises and blessings.

  16. Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
    Daniel 10:18 KJV

Touch Me Lord for my days are heavy and my body is weak renew me Lord I need strength.

  17. Sow with a view to righteousness [that righteousness, like seed, may germinate]; Reap in accordance with mercy and lovingkindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, For it is time to seek and search diligently for the Lord [and to long for His blessing] Until He comes to rain righteousness and His gift of salvation on you.
    HOSEA 10:12 AMP

  18. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Bubba! Now this is some good stuff let’s look at it in the NLT version.

“I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭10:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  19. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

  20. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you

First we must sow. Just like a small seed eventually produces a large crop, our small everyday actions toward God can eventually produce something great!
Second we will reap. We all know you reap what you sow. So as long as we are sowing righteousness, peace, and joy that is what we will reap!
Third we must break up our fallow ground. When you break up fallow ground, it is no longer stony and hard, and it is now available. We must make our life ready for God to work in it and make ourselves available. We break the fallow ground of our heart by recognizing our sin and then walking in the forgiveness and Will of God!
This verse finishes with “for it is time to seek the Lord”. We mustn’t forget that in all that we do, we must continually seek the Lord!

  21. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

    You Reap What you Sow!

13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

Do you want righteousness or iniquity!

  22. Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
    Hosea 10:2 KJV

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
    James 1:6‭-‬8 KJV

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
    Revelation 3:15‭-‬16 KJV

Double-minded, lukewarm, half-hearted, apathetic people always hurt the work of God. They refuse to follow hard after God themselves and discourage others who would. They say things like, “All that’s not necessary,” or “You spend too much time and energy on that church!” They serve God AND idols, or God AND money, or God AND self. Any time there is an AND after God, we have a problem. We cannot afford to be divided in these last days.

  23. THY KINGDOM COME
SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD

12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

There are too many quitters and complainers in the Kings courts. The WORD of is simple if we read it and apply it to our lives. Sow or “think, speak and act” in RIGHTEOUSNESS” and Reap or receive MERCY.

SEEK the LORD till or until HE come. This is where the complainers and quitters show up. Just because we ask for something and do not receive it immediately, does not give us the right to act like toddlers and whine about it, complain repeatedly about it or through a fit about it and more importantly just quit and take our toys and go somewhere else. NO. Its time to Grow UP, Mature and SEEK the LORD, till HE come through and RAIN RIGHTEOUSNESS (The Kingdom) the RIGHT thing, attitude, way on us.

How simple would our lives be if we were patient and focused on HIS Kingdom.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

If we apply these 2 verses to our lives.

    Hosea 10:12
    Matthew 6:33

There will be NO time for complaining, conflict or complacency.

    SEEK JESUS FIRST.

    iPraise
    iPray

  24. MSG – Sow righteousness,reap love.
It’s time to till the ready earth, it’s time to dig in with God,

As the Man of God instructed us on Sunday night, it’s time to buy into the vision that God has established for Fort Worth. God’s plan will come together with or without us. Just like Jews/Gentiles – the Jews wouldn’t receive and accept Him, so God turned to the Gentile people. If we don’t lock in with the Vision and God for our region, God will raise up someone who will. I want to be where God is at, and involved in what God is doing. Count me in!

  25. 4 They spout empty words and make covenants they don’t intend to keep.

How times have we heard someone say ” I’ll do take care of it” but only never get to it, or make excuse why it hasn’t been done. They give their word, but it’s nothing empty words. Eventually you’ll know who to trust when they give their word.

When praying to God its the same thing. We pray we’ll make a change in our life, give more in our time & talent, give offerings & tithes, praise/worship more, but then we don’t do it. Our actions speak louder than our words. If you gonna say it, backup up with your actions.

  26. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

The law of the harvest applies in our lifestyle as well as our finances. When we live in a righteous manner and break up the fallow ground in our life God will cause the rain of righteousness to fall upon us and we will reap blessings. The choice is ours but God desires to bless His people.

  27. bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

  28. A great contrast is seen in these two verses: ‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.’ We see what Israel desired versus what God was expecting, and there was a great gulf between them. We cannot afford such a disparity in expectations today!

God was looking for them to sow righteousness into their lives, but they were too busy plowing their own wickedness. He wanted them to reap mercy, but they were still bound in their own iniquity. He wanted them to break up the spiritual idleness in their lives and seek him so he could rain his righteousness upon them, but they were too full of trust in themselves. They had unity in their multitude, but that unity did not include the only one that truly mattered. His will, his ways, his desires, were entirely set aside.

It is not difficult to understand why God was so disappointed in Israel, but we should do more than just shake our heads… we should ask ourselves the same questions. Are we sowing his righteousness in our lives? Is his mercy evident in our lives? Have we broken up the fallow portions of our lives to make more room for him? Are we truly seeking him and his righteousness? If we are, he should have the liberty to continue to work within us! We should be the living examples of Christ’s character in our lives each day!

  29. 12 I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’ (NLT)

Thy Kingdom GrOw. The time is now.

  30. God will break down Israel’s alters. They will be shamed. So we should always do the right thing without God or someone else telling us to do so.

  31. 12 Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap in mercy, break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

  32. 1 Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

  33. They let money get to them and they forgot abut God. Which reminds me of Hollywood . singer katy perry use to be Pentecostal . but she let fame get to her and she will soon realize that because she turned away from God she will be punished .God hates sin and we have 2 be punished if we don’t repent

  34. Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord , till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
    Hosea 10:12 KJV

  35. 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

The truth is you can’t ride two horses with one saddle, the same way you can’t serve two masters. A soul can only make heaven or he’ll it’s eternal home. Sadly, the dillusion sin attracts souls with is the lie that you can live in sin and serve God righteously and holy. You are in or out, hot or cold, up or down.. you can’t be half dead and half alive , medically it’s impossible. However spiritually you can die and live physically, but all that separates them is death and life once God breaks down the altars and images we get to chose will it be life eternal or death.

  36. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Sow to yourself in righteousness. Whatever we sow we will reap. Invest in your spiritual life and we shall reap that which pleases the Lord.

  37. Hosea 10:9

“Since the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, Israel, and there you have remained. Will not war again overtake the evildoers in Gibeah?

Sinning wasn’t the problem,it was the remaining that got them. God rewards effort because it shows your care.

We can deceive anyone millions of time, we can never deceive God. Pray for me Call

  38. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you

No questions , no excuses just DO IT!!! SEEK HIM WHILE HE CAN BE FOUND!!!

    • saiah 55:6-7 (KJV)
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

      • Isaiah 55:6-7 King James Version (KJV)
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

  39. Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

3 For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the Lord; what then should a king do to us?

4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

6 It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.

8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

A vine is only valuable for its fruit; but Israel now brought no fruit to perfection. Their hearts were divided. God is the Sovereign of the heart; he will have all, or none. Were the stream of the heart wholly after God, it would run strongly, and bear down all before it. Their pretences to covenant with God were false. Even the proceeding of justice was as poisonous hemlock. Alas, how empty a vine is the visible church even at this day! But all earthly prosperity is but a collection of bubbles, soon destroyed like foam upon the water. Sinners will in vain seek shelter from that Judge, whom they now despise as a Saviour.

  40. 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
Israel had sown unrighteousness long enough. It was time to seek the Lord and start reaping Mercy instead of judgement. To me, the fact that mercy is still on the table is amazing but that’s why He’s God!!! God help us to break up the fallow ground of our hearts so more of His Word will take root! That is true growth and we will see the benefits of it.

  41. 7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.

8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

Here God is upset because Israel continues to sin. The sacrifice that Israel must make is stay away from carnality and idols. Falling into sin has consequences that lead to death. God wants us all to live righteously.

  42. You are deceitful and disloyal. So you will pay for your sins, because the Lord will destroy your altars and images.(Hosea 10:2 CEV)

God explains in this verse to Israel that they have behaved so misleading and are untrustworthy. God says they will be punish for there sins because the he will destroy their altars and images that they have built. They act like they love God and want to obey him but their actions prove otherwise. Loving God means staying loyal and separating ourselves from the things that cause temptation to become disloyal.

  43. Verse 8
The execution of God’s judgment would produce such a terror in Israel that the people would cry out for the mountains to cover them and the hills to fall in them. About 700 years later, Jesus used this imagery to describe how the Jews would react to their destruction by Rome (Luke 23:30) , also, those in the Great Tribulation, at the end of time, will likewise utilize this cry ( Rev 6:16).
