Hosea 11

When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

He shall not return into the land of Egypt, and the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.

And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.

12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

  1. I like to think God as a parent . when you were younger your mom or dad Probucally said. This is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you ” before they punish you. That’s how God feels he hates sins because it separates him and us. It also hurts him . because he doesn’t want to punish us. He never did want to punish us. But because of sin and because of his word he has to. But he still has grace and mercy and faith in us . he knows we will come back and he will be there waiting for us.

  2. This chapter in the MSG ends with the caption “Soul-Destroying Lies”: “Ephraim tells lies right and left. Not a word of Israel can be trusted. Judah, meanwhile, is no better, addicted to cheap gods.” We have heard so many warnings about listening to lies that are being spoken to lure you away. We must heed these warnings and be alert of anything that is trying to pull us away from where the Lord wants us. Stay close and stay faithful to God our Creator.

  3. 12 Ephraim has encircled Me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit, but Judah still walks with God. Even with the Holy One who is faithful. Praise the Lord.

  4. 6 And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

We should not rely on our own wisdom, but that of God and his true servants.

Prov 24:6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Praise is the venue, for the Kingdom of GOD. Honesty, integrity and holiness are the attributes of true Praise. Praise creates the atmosphere of Worship and The KING of Glory has already established the expectation of Kingdom Worship.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

As we seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD we will often find ourselves in Passionate Praise of the King of Glory. Leaving behind the attitude and atmosphere of lies and deceit.

  6. When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

When Israel were weak and helpless as children, foolish and froward as children, then God loved them; he bore them as the nurse does the sucking child, nourished them, and suffered their manners. All who are grown up, ought often to reflect upon the goodness of God to them in their childhood. He took care of them, took pains with them, not only as a father, or a tutor, but as a mother, or nurse. When they were in the wilderness, God showed them the way in which they should go, and bore them up, taking them by the arms. He taught them the way of his commandments by the ceremonial law given by Moses. He took them by the arms, to guide them, that they might not stray, and to hold them up, that they might not stumble and fall. God’s spiritual Israel are all thus supported. It is God’s work to draw poor souls to himself; and none can come to him except he draw them. With bands of love; this word signifies stronger cords than the former. He eased them of the burdens they had long groaned under. Israel is very ungrateful to God. God’s counsels would have saved them, but their own counsels ruined them. They backslide; there is no hold of them, no stedfastness in them. They backslide from me, from God, the chief good. They are bent to backslide; they are ready to sin; they are forward to close with every temptation. Their hearts are fully set in them to do evil. Those only are truly happy, whom the Lord teaches by his Spirit, upholds by his power, and causes to walk in his ways. By his grace he takes away the love and dominion of sin, and creates a desire for the blessed feast of the gospel, that they may feed thereon, and live for ever.

  7. Hosea:12:8 (English Amp) But I [ Who] am the Lord your God from [ When you became a nation in] the land of Egypt will yet make you to dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed and solemn Feast [ of Tabernacle.[ Lev.23 :39] Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month [ nearly October], when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, You shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days, the first day and the eighth day each a Sabbath. This is day that Lord has made and I will rejoice in it. This is addition to the Sabaths of the Lord and besides your gifts to the Lord and all your vowed offerings to the Lord. Keep Sabbath day holy. Thank you Jesus for all that you have done.

  8. But the more I called to him, the farther he moved from me, offering sacrifices to the images of Baal and burning incense to idols. I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn’t know or even care that it was I who took care of him.
    Hosea 11:2‭-‬3 NLT
As I was reading not destroying Israel it because GOD mercy he brith he taught us how to walk he loves us and care for like our parents will but we can never forget what GOD done for us the more GOD try to pull the the father Israel walk I just don’t understand how you see you heard and you experience the greatness of the almighty GOD and just walk away from him I been a believer for 8 year I can’t forget how he brought me !! Don’t you know you are not without GOD

  9. When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. Hosea 11:1‭, ‬4‭-‬4‭, ‬7‭-‬8 KJV

How have we taken the mercies of God for granted and have abused His love to fall away from Him. Just for a little ‘pleasure’ in life!!
Lord i repent, forgive me for i have sinned against your Holiness, your word, and this temple. Continue to draw me closer to you, and order my steps. Thank you for your everlasting love, your mercies, and your faithfulness ❤❤❤

  10. 5. The people of Israel will return to bondage like they knew in the land of Egypt, And this time Assyria will be their king because they refuse to return to Me. Voice

Those who forget (or just stop appreciating) where God brought them from tend to return to it.

He placed me upon the strong Rock by His side,
    My steps were established and here I’ll abide;
No danger of falling while here I remain,
But stand by His grace until the crown I gain.

He brought me out of the miry clay,
    He set my feet on the Rock to stay;
He puts a song in my soul today,
    A song of praise, hallelujah!

  11. 12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

What we do us up to us – I choose to send up Judah and stay faithful to the Lord!

  12. 10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

We have authority from walking with God. He has made as as lion to walk to roam in our territory with as God has gifted us to be more than we sometimes think

  13. They shall walk after the Lord : he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
    Hosea 11:10 KJV

    Hallelujah!

  14. This verse always reminds me of the cords which held the coverings of the tabernacle: ‘I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.’ Something had to secure the temple, yet it’s coverings could not be defiled by touching the earth. We needed his covering upon us, yet he is the holy God in heaven and we are but poor sinners in need of salvation. He wanted to remove the burden of that yoke from being laid upon us, yet no sin should stand before him and live. How can mercy and truth be reconciled, how can His righteousness allow his peace to reign within us, how can his fruits be laid before his people?

The answer of course is in Jesus! He robed himself in flesh that he might become that nail in a sure place! His salvation is often represented by silver rather than gold because silver requires some effort on our part to keep it looking pure while gold retains it’s luster all by itself. God is the gold, and he has provided the silver! The nails which held that tabernacle in place were made of silver, and they had to be nailed into the ground to provide it with a sure and steady foundation. God’s holiness will not be defiled with sin, but he robed himself in flesh that he might walk in the midst of a sinful world and address that sin for us all!

And then we come full circle, to the cords that attached the holy coverings to the silver nails! He came to the earth to be our nail in a sure place. He suffered himself and even had physical nails driven into him that we might be able to receive his covering upon our spiritual lives, and he did it through cords of love… because God is love! Nothing else was able and he wasn’t going to settle for anything else in his kingdom, so he offered himself for our sins. His holiness still will not suffer itself to be defiled with the sins of this world, but his love made a way for his salvation to be available to whosoever will!

  15. Message version
My people are hell-bent on leaving me.
They pray to god Baal for help.
He doesn’t lift a finger to help them.
But how can I give up on you, Ephraim?
How can I turn you loose, Israel?
How can I leave you to be ruined like Admah,
    devastated like luckless Zeboim?
I can’t bear to even think such thoughts.
    My insides churn in protest.

    Ezekiel 34:11-12 ESV

“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness.

  16. 2 But the more I called to him, the farther he moved from me

As parents its frustrating to tell your children to do something but they ignore you. As kids go through youth and into young adults, it seems no one can tell them anything. The more advice a parent gives to their young adult child, the farther he/she gets. The young adults thinks they have it all figured out. Eventually they will realize one day, “my parents were correct, they knew what they were talking about.” But never stop praying for your children, and hope they make good decisions.

  17. 11:1,2 when Israel’s was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
As they called them, so they went from them: they they sacrificed unto Baalim and burned incense to graven images.
    ———-
We love God because God loves us first.
    …. I called him, I loved him… when he was a child…
For everything there is a season….
let the love of God ( for God) never change. Same pasión, same Desire, same willingness,, same self giving to Him,same indurance, same love, same exitment be present in us. Let this love , this relation be alive let it be now. And not an thing from the past.

  18. The people of Israel will return to bondage like they knew in the land of Egypt, And this time Assyria will be their king because they refuse to return to Me. Voice

People typically will return to what they know. If we do not truly know God for ourselves, it will be easy to return back to old habits. The more we know God, the further from sin we are. This is why spending time in the word and praying daily is so important!

  19. iLove the Kingdom
Hosea 11:1-3 KJV When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. (2) As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images. (3) I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

Wow, look at the heartbreak with God and his children. These scriptures should help all parents who blame themselves for the way their children turned out. God said he led his children by “taking them by their arms” and leading them to freedom but they rebelled regardless. As parents, we can only do so much. We must do our best to raise our children in the ways of the Lord, but ultimately they will soon have to pick and choose for themselves just as God’s children do.

  20. When Israel was young they played with toy Gods, but God still loved them. When Israel grew up they worshiped the false god. God got mad at Ephrim but he did not punish them. User all came back to god scared. So we should not worship faluse gods or we will get punished and get scared, then run back to the one true god-Cariana.

  21. MSG – Ephraim tells lies right and left.
Not a word of Israel can be trusted.
    Judah, meanwhile, is no better,
    addicted to cheap gods.

We must evaluate our lives to see if we are addicted to cheap gods. God will not be second. He will not share His glory with others He will not be placed behind the fads of this world, nor the distractions of this world. It’s time declutter our lives with things that waste our time and give that time to the Kingdom.

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

I want to delight myself in the Lord everyday!

  22. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
2 As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

  23. We are made in the image and likeness of God and here we see that God heartbreak of our father when we do not obey Him. This is often the same feeling we feel whe our children disobey us. The Gods heart was so broken that He rewards obedient children with a longer life.

  24. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

Israel is such a mystery as how they always come to God then backslide. The truth is if we really think about it we tend to do the same thing as humanity. We go back and forth in our relationship with God. Sometimes serving Him and we should and sometimes backsliding. We must seek a consistent, stable walk with God if we desire for Him to bless us.

  25. Josiah: 4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
This verse got me thinking about how God is using POFW to reach those who are not right with God or are sick, hurt, confused and more. God has called this Church to reach Fort Worth. He has called us to be willing vessels to reach this city. He called us to GO WITH LOVE. He has called us to show people how to take away the burden or yoke of sin off through baptism and repentance. He has called us to teach them the word of God. So, let us GO REACH this region of Fort Worth! Let us GO IN JESUS NAME!

  26. When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son. The more they called them, the more they departed from Me. They kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offerings to idols.
    Hosea 11:1‭-‬2 HCSB

Look at the fickleness of man. God calls, and they follow Him out of Egypt. The new lands around them call, and they follow them into sin and idolatry. It seems that Israel was bent on following whatever winds blew closest to their present desires or whatever sounded good at the moment.

We must guard against such vacillation in our own lives. We can’t be led about by what pleases the flesh, what sounds right at the moment, or whatever doctrines this world comes up with. Truth is forever; it doesn’t change with the times. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What He hated yesterday, He still hates. He doesn’t change His mind just because men deem His standards to be politically incorrect or intolerant. We must follow His righteous judgment even when there is an easier way presented to us. We must train ourselves to follow His voice alone and always.

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
    Proverbs 16:25 KJV

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
    Ephesians 4:14‭-‬15 KJV

  27. For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.
    Hosea 11:7 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.11.7.NLT

Not just because we go to church, clap our hands, sing songs, and say a little 2 minute prayer means we are bringing honor to Him. Remember the devil also goes to church. We must be be true worshippers in Spirit and in Truth. We must always give Him the honor and the glory.

  28. Hosea 11:8-9
    8) How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? How shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
    9) I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

The scriptures that came to mind as I read this was Romans 11:33-34.
    33) O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God: how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways are past finding out.
    34) For who hath know the mind of the LORD? or who hath been his counsellor?

  29. I Love To Worship The Lord
    3-4
The imagery is a toddler learning to walk encouraged by a stooping adult who shows infinite patieence and concern when you stumble and fall piture God bending down to lift you up saying thats all right Lets try again Walk for Daddy

  30. 12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

  31. I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them. I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
    Hosea 11:3‭-‬4
Imagine that, being healed by God from your backsliding and you didn’t know it. We are so blessed to have a God who loves us that much. Then He drew Israel with cords, with bands of love so they could not get away from Him. The Word then gives us a beautiful word picture of someone being set free from that which had them bound. Glory to God for he is the only one that can set us free from our bondage and sin.

  32. As I wasbreading this. The scripture came to mind, for God so lovers the World,…

Wow, how has God tried to get your attention? How has he tried to save us, but we push back. Do we push back because we don’t want the healing or is it because it hurts to be vulnerable? We don’t want others to know how truly broken we are, how much we are in pain. But thanks be to God through the pain we are healed.

  33. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

  34. COME on in Holy Ghost!

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the Lord.

The enemy is gonna be put in his place when the Lord steps in every single time. Gods gotta nice way of showing up and it hits in waves I love it. Again I’m reminded who’s in control and who has rule over my life. He gave us that choice and when we chose to live for Him He then have us the authority to say NOT TODAY SATAN! That’s right the devil is a lie from the pits and that little fellas gonna try anything to get you away from the will of God. Tomorrow when you wake up get you a whole lot of Jesus and let’s tackle the day on full force with a determinatives attitude to help the Lost and to feed The Hungry

iBless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

  35. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

God loves his people, he knows after all he has done to help Israel surely they would honor him. In this chapter It shows how God of all power can destroy Israel but he’s willing to give them the opportunity to turn away from sin afterall he is in control his love is unconditional.

  36. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

God has always loved his people. Most of what would happen seemingly bad to Israel was the chastening of a loving God. The Bible says:

    Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Egypt is a type of the world. And since before you knew you were in the lost world God loves you and not just loved you but called you. Called you to be a chosen people and a disciple of his.

You are not of this world, you might have been born here, but you are CALLED!

  37. They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

When we walk with God we shall know his voice and know who He is. His name is Jesus and even the demons tremble at his name. Jesus is the all powerful and might high God. When we walk with God He will give us revelation of His and who He is!!

  38. For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.(Hosea 11:7 NLT)

God explains in this verse saying that his people are determined to abonden themselves from him. The people pretend to call God the most high but they dont truly honor him. They truly know the cost of sin and ignore it. God has given his people the tools to follow him but they are distracted by the things they see of the world and so they desert him.

  39. And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
    Daniel 11:45 KJV
    Glory to my God.

  40. 1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

God loved us even when we were yet living in sin, bound to the shackles of the world. He calls us out of the darkness of sin and into his marvelous light. He called us his children before we were born, in our mothers womb he knew us. He died for our sins while we were yet in sin, because he knew that generations were to come that would need his saving power. Their is power in the blood of Jesus that washes us white as snow.

  41. “Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭11:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Praise rules with God. He inhabita our praises. Thank you Jesus that we can rise above with a praise and a shout. Victory!

  42. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

10 They shall walk after the Lord: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

  43. 7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

9I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

THE HOLY ONE!!! WOE TO THEM THAT REFUSE TO EXALT HIM AND REFUSE TO GIVE HIM GLORY FOR HE IS WORTHY OF ALL PRAISE!!!

  44. 4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

We too often miss how we are led by the hand, by a man of God, and how we are continually fed, through His word. Through love, Jesus draws us, but are we allowing Him to use us the same? Are we gently guiding others to Jesus, with love?

  45. Verse 11
God had sympathy for His people. God did not want to see His people utterly destroyed, as were Admah and Zeboiim, the cities of the plain, destroyed with sodom and Gomorrah.
