Hosea 12

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

11 Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

12 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.

13 And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

14 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.

  1. What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him—ever!
    Hosea 12:6 MSG
‘Comit yourself in love, in justice, wait for your GOD,’ it is sometimes easier said than done. But one thing i know for sure is to take every trial and lay them at the feet of the LORD, and let it go! Many times when we decide to keep them and rake matters into our own hands we tend to make the situations bigger than what they are. Your faith may be tested…. but nothing that the LORD cannot handle.

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.
    ISAIAH 40:31 AMP

  2. Verse 6 NIV “But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.” So many have lost their way, wondered off and it is time for us to help draw them back to what they once knew. No one says it will be easy, as it is a daily walk of decisions, following faithfully and trusting in God. Proverbs 3:6 AMP “In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

  3. 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

“I’ll love like I’m not scared, give when it’s not fair, live life for another, take time for a brother. Fight for the weak ones, speak out for freedom, find faith in the battle, stand tall – but above it all fix my eyes on You.”

  4. What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him—ever!
    Hosea 12:6

What are we waiting for? If we feel destitute, backslid and lost let us return to our God and recommit ourselves to the Lord in Love. If we don’t give up on God he will never give up on us.

  5. Hosea 12:13 Message

13 Your real identity is formed through God-sent prophets, who led you out of Egypt and served as faithful pastors.

God led Pastors will hear the voice of God and speak truth. Try it . Pray a prayer no one knows about and watch how the man of God our Pastor will either speak directly to your situation or will speak through the preaching of the Word. Thank you God for our pastor at POFW who hears your voice and speaks with Spiritual authority into the congregation.

    Hebrews 13:17
    New International Version
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

  6. 14 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.

Obadiah 1:15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Psalms 7:16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

  7. 10. I sent my prophets to warn you with many visions and parables.

    14. But the people of Israel have bitterly provoked the LORD, so their Lord will now sentence them to death in payment for their sins. NLT

Don’t ignore the warnings that have been given – they were sent in love, trying to re-direct His people so that the time of punishment would never have to come.

  8. We need the same mindset of Jacob in our walk with God. ‘Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.’ We can look to anything in our life as a memorial. Many people are bound by their past by just such a mindset… but when God becomes our memorial everything else seems small in comparison. Nothing else can compare to him! ‘Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.’ That needs to be our decision as well! A relationship that is kept up continually, a walk that has a made up mind that regardless of the situation, God is in control.

This mindset works just as well for the body as it does for the individual. This same passage declares ‘And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.’ Jacob’s name was changed by God to Israel, but this reference is to them as a people, as a body together. He did not just take them out of Egypt and leave them, anymore than his interest in us wanes at our baptism. He used his prophet to deliver them from Egypt and he continued to use his prophets to preserve them from Egypt. He makes the same available to us today! … if we listen to his prophets. The world will continue to call, the enemy will continue to speak, we need the Word of the Lord to continue to speak in our lives as well!

  9. Josiah: 2 The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
The Bible tells us that we reap what we sow. If we are sowing into lost souls, witnessing, studying the word of the Lord, praying, fasting, then we will be reaping good things. However if you choose to do the things of this world then you will reap the things of this world. What we do matters. Where we reap matters. As long as we are lined up with God’s will we do not need to worry. So, let us GO IN JESUS NAME!

  10. 1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

God’s people forgot where they’re blessings came from, thinking they themselves caused their prosperity. They have fooled themselves. We must remember even our breath comes from the Lord. He blesses us even when we feel we are in the valley because he leads us through.

  11. So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on him.
    Hosea 12:6 NLT
Even will how many times Israel turns from God He still desires relationship and calls them out of their sin. V

  12. THY KINGDOM COME
    REMEMBER MERCY

6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

The principal concept of The Kingdom of GOD is Mercy. The LOVE of GOD is the fact that HE would prefer to SAVE a soul than condemn a soul.

When I think of the goodness of JESUS and all HE has done for me, my SOUL cries HALLALUJAH. Because understanding how much JESUS loves me is imperative to understanding HIS Mercy toward me.

Seeing that JESUS has Mercy on me, I will in turn choose to have mercy on others.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo
    iBlessYouInTheNameOfTheLordJESUS

  13. 2 The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
    4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
5 Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.
6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.
7 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
8 And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

Regardless of the struggle that we go through and the things that we fight, when God allows us a victory and causes us to prosper, it can still be easy to be haughty and our attitude about everything that we have. I have a very strong passion when it comes to not forgetting my roots and where I came from and how far I have come, I never want to forget what I’ve been through so I don’t have to go back. I don’t want to lose sight of what got me here in the first place and think that I had anything to do with it. To God be the glory!

  14. Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.
If from our Wicked Ways and humble call ourselves he is just to forgive and hear us GOD is calling backslide he call that never knew. Him to have a relationship with him

  15. These people worshipped idols and sin against God. God warned them the judgement but they didn’t listen . he sent people to warn them. And i believe we are living in times when God is warning us but people are not listening . he is sending his people but people ignore him. The ultimate punishment is death.

  16. iLove the Kingdom
1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

If you really meditate on this verse it is really deep and can apply to the church today. Their oil is carried into Egypt…How many anointed singers from the UPC have carried their anointing into the land of bondage? How many anointed preachers have preached the powerful Word of God and then went into the cursed land of Egypt and into its slavery? The fact of the matter is, it only starts with listening to lies and the next thing you know its over.

  17. 9 But I am the Lord your God, ever since the land of Egypt, I will again make you dwell in the tents, as in the days of the appointed feast. I have also spoken by the prophets, and have multiplied visions, I have given symbols through the witness of the prophets.

  18. 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

This verse must be catching everyone’s eye this morning praise the Lord!
But it’s all over the Bible
Blessed is he that wait on the Lord.

  19. Hosea 12:10 (AMP)
I have also spoken to (you through) the prophets,
And I gave (them) many visions (to make My will known),
And through the prophets I gave parables (to appeal to your sense of right and wrong).

  20. So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on him. But no, the people are like crafty merchants selling from dishonest scales— they love to cheat.
    Hosea 12:6‭-‬7 NLT

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
    Micah 6:8 KJV

So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord , and went presumptuously up into the hill.
    Deuteronomy 1:43 KJV

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
    Matthew 23:37 KJV

I wonder how ashamed I would be if I realized the number of times the Lord told me what to do and I would not? How many times did the Lord want to gather me close to Him, but I would not? How many times did the Lord have blessings in mind to give to me, but I would not? How many times have I grieved the heart of God because I would not listen but presumptuously went my own way? When I leave this earth, I want the Lord to say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” and not, “You could have come with me, but ye would not!”

  21. 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

We are always in a rush to do something. Go to work, eat, family time, church, errands, ect. Yet we try to rush God in His Work and Kingdom. God I need you to do this right now, or God if this doesn’t happen now, I don’t know what I’m going to Do. God has never failed on His timing, in His ways. He is so much more than we are, and I have found that I’m still going on, and I’m blessed. It’s time to get a God mentality and allow God to flow freely in us and through us. Thank you Jesus for all that you have done.

  22. 6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

    AMP =
Therefore, return [in repentance] to your God,
Observe and highly regard kindness and justice,
And wait [expectantly] for your God continually.

Walking in the Spirit on a daily basis I believe can be summed up in this statement “and wait expectantly for your God continually.” We are continually searching for the Lord to lead us and we are waiting on Him, serving Him, ministering to Him through our praise/worship and by serving and doing His will.

I wait with great expectation on your today Lord, so that you will be glorified one everything we say and do.

  23. 5 Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.

6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

  24. 10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

God has done so much for Israel with his mighty hand, grace, and mercy. He has sent prophet after prophet to capture the attention of his people to cast God’s vision for them. They have rejected the men of God thus rejecting God. He won’t let go of his people’s hand but he will discipline them. God disciplines those whom he loves.

  25. So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on him.(Hosea 12:6 NLT)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(1 John 1:9 KJV)

  26. Yes, he wrestled with the angel and won. He wept and pleaded for a blessing from him. There at Bethel he met God face to face, and God spoke to him —
    Hosea 12:4 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/hos.12.4.NLT

We have to have this same determination that Jacob had. We must make up in our mind and spirit that we won’t let God go until we see him face to face and He gives us a Blessing.

  27. 13 And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Here the Lord is emphasizing the importance of the ministry of the prophet. I once heard Bro Stoneking teach on the functions of each of the five-fold ministry and never forgot it:
    The apostle is to Govern
    The prophet is to Guide
    The Evangelist is to Gather
    The Pastor is to Guard
    The Teacher is to Ground

  28. “What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him—ever!”
    ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭12:6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Go back to your first love

  29. 1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

2 The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

    4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

9 And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

Ephraim feeds himself with vain hopes of help from man, when he is at enmity with God. The Jews vainly thought to secure the Egyptians by a present of the produce of their country. Judah is contended with also. God sees the sin of his own people, and will reckon with them for it. They are put in mind of what Jacob did, and what God did for him. When his faith upon the Divine promise prevailed above his fears, then by his strength he had power with God. He is Jehovah, the same that was, and is, and is to come. What was a revelation of God to one, is his memorial to many, to all generations. Then let those who have gone from God, be turned to him. Turn thou to the Lord, by repentance and faith, as thy God. Let those that are converted to him, walk with him in all holy conversation and godliness. Let us wrestle with Him for promised blessings, determined not to give over till we prevail; and let us seek Him in his ordinances.

  30. Then by a prophet the Lord brought Jacob’s descendants out of Egypt; and by that prophet they were protected.
    Hosea 12:13 NLT

By a prophet they were brought out of Egypt and by a prophet they were protected. There is an importance of the man of God in your life.

  31. Hosea12:4 (English Amp) Yes, he had power over the Angel [ of the Lord] and prevailed; He wept and sought His favor. He met Him in Bethel, and there [ God] spoke with [ him and through him with] us. We have the chose that Jacob had . To have a made up mind and heart that we are going to hang to the end with Lord. No matter what we go through in our lives. I choose to hang on to Jesus for the rest of my life . I have vision and a purpose from him and a promise. There hope and trust and love. The world can’t give this to you ! Having freedom to wake up to praise and give he the glory and honer. [ Amen].

  32. God sends prophets to give messages to those appointed. The messages given from God are not taken serious that’s why God is angry. If the Lord speaks we should listen to avoid unrighteousness.

  33. 3 Even in the womb, Jacob struggled with his brother; when he became a man,
    he even fought with God.

Even as a young child when we know right from wrong we struggle to do what is right. We wrestle with good vs evil on a daily basis. We have to stay strong through prayer and reading our sword daily.

  34. Verse 20
God had not left His people ( US) without guidance, warning. And instruction, He had given words and visions to the prophets, as well as using their lives as living parables of His teachings. Hosea’s marriage to Gomer in an obvious example

  35. What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him—ever!
    Hosea 12:6

He doesn’t give up on us, don’t give up on him.
