Acts Chapter 5

40 Days of FIRE – Day 5

Day 5: Acts Ch.5. Unity and generosity among the disciples were tainted as sin is revealed within the church and the Apostles are imprisoned. Yet, this did not stop them from fulfilling the commission of God. They knew it would be better to obey God than man.  In prayer today, confess sin and ask for God’s forgiveness. Pray that the Church would stand on the promises of God and focus on spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Acts 5

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

The sin of Ananias and Sapphira was, that they were ambitious of being thought eminent disciples, when they were not true disciples. Hypocrites may deny themselves, may forego their worldly advantage in one instance, with a prospect of finding their account in something else. They were covetous of the wealth of the world, and distrustful of God and his providence. They thought they might serve both God and mammon. They thought to deceive the apostles. The Spirit of God in Peter discerned the principle of unbelief reigning in the heart of Ananias. But whatever Satan might suggest, he could not have filled the heart of Ananias with this wickedness had he not been consenting. The falsehood was an attempt to deceive the Spirit of truth, who so manifestly spoke and acted by the apostles. The crime of Ananias was not his retaining part of the price of the land; he might have kept it all, had he pleased; but his endeavouring to impose upon the apostles with an awful lie, from a desire to make a vain show, joined with covetousness. But if we think to put a cheat upon God, we shall put a fatal cheat upon our own souls. How sad to see those relations who should quicken one another to that which is good, hardening one another in that which is evil! And this punishment was in reality mercy to vast numbers. It would cause strict self-examination, prayer, and dread of hypocrisy, covetousness, and vain-glory, and it should still do so. It would prevent the increase of false professors. Let us learn hence how hateful falsehood is to the God of truth, and not only shun a direct lie, but all advantages from the use of doubtful expressions, and double meaning in our speech.

  2. Verses 29-32 AMP “Then Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men [we have no other choice]. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a [d]cross [and you are responsible]. God exalted Him to His right hand as Prince and Savior and Deliverer, in order to grant repentance to Israel, and [to grant] forgiveness of sins. And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has bestowed on those who obey Him.”

1 Timothy 4:13-16 AMP says “Until I come, devote yourself to public reading [of Scripture], to preaching and to teaching [the sound doctrine of God’s word]. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit] through prophetic utterance when the [a]elders laid their hands on you [at your ordination]. Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that your progress will be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself [concentrate on your personal development] and to your teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.”

  3. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ

If what are doing is from God ( and it is) then there isn’t a thing that can stop us from achieving his will except us. The only thing that can stand in the way of the will of God is the will of man. No demon or other man can prevent what God wants to do unless we allow it. I love the part in this story that the apostles counted it a good thing to suffer for Christ and would not stop serving Christ and teaching his name. The more unified we are the more we get done. We are in a great season of sewing and reaping. We just need to lay the seeds and water the ground

  4. Many Signs and Wonders
Acts 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God ; so that from Jerusalem and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

II Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

  5. Acts 5

25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

IN the midst of what the enemy thought was now his victory God showed up
and placed His messengers right back where they belonged. Teaching in the temple. Gods miraculous ways will astonish the world!
You may feel you are in the darkest prison of life and you are not accomplishing what God has called you to do but if it be of God There is nothing that will keep His will from happening. If the apostles had given up their faith in God while in prison I don’t believe they would have found their self in the temple. They had a message and they were determined to deliver it. Help us Lord to not allow any of life situations to put us into a prison mentality God can go down into the prisons of your life and set you free. There is a work to be done for the Kingdom.
The enemy will be defeated .

  6. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

They just got beat up and told they weren’t allowed to speak the name of Jesus, and they still left rejoicing?! Annnd they still taught and preached the gospel of Jesus?!! These men are nuts! Haha they are driven and committed with passion!!

  7. 29 Peter and the other apostles reply, we must obey God rather than men.

38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you; leave this man alone. Let them go. For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men, you will only find yourself fighting against God.

  8. Taking a stand for God is something that is always taken notice of… our lives are truly an epistle that is read of all men. So what is our testimony and is it speaking what we want to be heard? Are we truly standing on the promises of God with the certainty of those who have a strong conviction on the importance of the foundation that God has provided for our life? Peter’s testimony continues to reach new heights in this chapter despite the strong opposition and disfavor of those who wanted to continue to provide for the spiritual direction of Israel. When brought before them yet again, Peter declares it is more important for him to obey God than man. Even after he was beaten for taking that stand, he counted it joy to suffer for Jesus’ name sake and continued to remain steadfast in his stand.

It is not until we face opposition or disfavor in our stand that our convictions are truly tested. Just like submission, we are tested when we are found to be in disagreement, except now it is our willingness to having done all, to stand, that matters both in our walk with God and the testimony we exhibit to those around us. They expect us to be happy when all is going well, everyone else is too, but what about when our beliefs becomes unpopular? What will we do when it costs us something to make that stand? They’re waiting to see how strong those convictions truly are and it makes a powerful statement when it is our stand that remains unchanged! So Go Stand for his name’s sake and allow his light to be seen by all!

  9. The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.”
Acts of the Apostles 5:41‭-‬42 NLT

Makes me Wonder actually how many people would leave rejoicing and overjoyed because of what they just went through for the Gospel of Jesus Christ!! They knew that greater is HE that is within than he that is in the world. It’s when you hold on to the word of God and know that he will bring you out of any situation. Because God is always true and faithful to his word.

  10. 5:40,42. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them,

They commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

    ———-
Earlier in verse So what did the angel told them to do? Go,stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of life.
Wether in the temple, at home, on the streets, at the store, at the parking lot ….
GO!!! Yes they went through a little something, but did that incident stop them? NO, it did not, they continued to spread the word.
They were told not to preach the name of Jesus, and they did the exact opposite.
    GLORY TO GOD!!!!!
    I repent
    I seek
    I speak

  11. 41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

  12. 17. The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.

    18. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.

    19. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them,

    20. “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

    22. But when the Temple guards went to the jail, the men were gone. So they returned to the council and reported,

    23. “The jail was securely locked, with the guards standing outside, but when we opened the gates, no one was there!” NLT

They didn’t even see them leave!
No matter what bondage you find yourself in, God can release you and put you back in your rightful place before the enemy even knows what’s happening!

  13. THY KINGDOM COME
    THE KING

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

LIFE is filled with choices. When we choose to follow and submit to JESUS, we are making a commitment to obey JESUS and HIS Word. JESUS is the KING of Kings over all creation. However, until we surrender all the kingdoms of our hearts and make HIM King of our life we will be lacking in the area of obedience.

We witness here that Peter and the other apostles had made the King of Glory their KING. When we choose to obey JESUS, HIS Word and HIS Spirit without fear of what man will say or do to us. Then we KNOW we have made HIM King.

    iRepent

  14. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

This name I will die for. I like it when everyone is on the same page when their preaching Friday night Brother Crockett was preaching and said cool people don’t make it to Heaven. What he meant was, we can’t worry about what other people think of us when we pray over our food, or care when we dress to follow our holiness standards. Nobody said this Church thing would be easy.
The only way we can grow outside of church is to take church outside of church and in order to do that we have be willing and make the sacrifice and know that we could be facing humility but if you wanna be a warrior you better drop that and realize we have to suffer shame for His name!

    Bless you in Jesus name

  15. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
    Acts 5:1‭-‬3 KJV

Ananias and Sapphira wanted to appear as if they trusted God with their whole hearts, but they did not. They did not trust God enough to give him everything. They kept back a part of the money as security in case the church could not give them all they wanted or needed. However, they wanted to appear as wholehearted as the rest of the body. God knows what we are in our hearts. He knows when we’re pretending to be something we’re not. We may convince the church that we’re in this thing with our whole hearts, but we will never fool God. We need to be more concerned with how God sees us than with the opinions or favor of man. We need to stop trying to impress others, and be real before God and everyone else.

They did not die for holding back the money. The money was theirs to do with what they wanted. They died for trying to appear to be something they were not. God was more concerned that their faith be genuinely represented, than that it be genuinely strong. God could work with a weak yet honest heart, but a liar and a hypocrite would put the whole young church body in peril.

  16. 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. J. Soliz

  17. Acts: 5:30 (English Amp) The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, Whom you killed by hanging Hom on a tree (cross). [ Deut.21:22-23] Then they shall bring her to the door of her father’s house and the men of her city shall stone her to death.,
Because she has wrought [ criminal] folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you.If a man is found lying with another man’s wife, they shall both die, the man who lay with women and the women .So you shall purge the evil from Israel. It’s better to obey God rather than man. I choose to obey God. I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ.

  18. Acts 5:28
    28) Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in his name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
“Ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine.”
We need to fill Fort Worth with the doctrine of Jesus Christ.

  19. Josiah: Our sacrifice does not matter if we do it with a wicked heart. God did not except Ananias and Sapphira’s sacrifice because of the lie they had conceived in their heart. Peter asked Ananias “why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost” Peter goes on to ask later “why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart” Peter then said “thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God”. Just at the end of the previous chapter Barnabus sold land and laid it at the apostles feet. Barnabus did not sacrifice with a deceitful/lying heart and God did not deny his sacrifice. So, let us GO SACRIFICE with a honest heart in the Kingdom of God!

  20. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

In this chapter today, the great outpouring of the Holy Ghost had already come. The Apostles were preaching, teaching and great signs and wonders were being done. Yet there were people like Ananias and Sapphira that tried to deceive Peter.

One of the greatest tools the enemy uses is deception. Right in the midst of Revival and mighty Harvest, deception was prevalent. We must guard our hearts. I believe Ananias and Sapphira believed that no one would know they were lying, but the Spirit of God was alive, moving and working and revealed the deception to Peter. As we turn up the “Fire” in our lives with greater daily sacrifices, we must realize that the enemy is going to turn up his attempt to deceive, destroy, disillusion, bring discord etc. We must be on guard.

  21. iLove the Kingdom
    Acts 5:3-4 NLT

    (3) Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself.

    (4) The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!”

The issue was not the money. Notice Peter makes the comment that the property belonged to him, and it was up to him whether he kept or not. The real issue here was lying and trying to appear like he was on board and in unity when in reality he and his wife were not fully committed. We must be careful to not just play the part of being a Christian.

  22. Repentance is one of God’s gift to us. To admit ones sins takes courage, to repent with a grievance heart it’s what reunites us to God. It is better to repent than to lose ones life, in this case literally, but worse is to lose it ur eternal life. May the Lord convict our heart so we may repent of all sins, and return to your loving embrace. In Jesus Name Amen

  23. 40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

    All because of the Name!

It is all too obvious that the whole purpose of the apostles was to preach the NAME. It was in that NAME that, all manner of sickness was healed, and people were freed by the mention of his NAME. All for the names sake, never was any other form of this mentioned. No one applied the titles as being similar. I believe that if in the mind of the apostles is was the same, it would have been mentioned any where else.

But it wasn’t, the NAME is the only way to be saved.

  24. “The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!” So at daybreak the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching. When the high priest and his officials arrived, they convened the high council —the full assembly of the elders of Israel. Then they sent for the apostles to be brought from the jail for trial. But when the Temple guards went to the jail, the men were gone. So they returned to the council and reported, “The jail was securely locked, with the guards standing outside, but when we opened the gates, no one was there!” When the captain of the Temple guard and the leading priests heard this, they were perplexed, wondering where it would all end. Then someone arrived with startling news: “The men you put in jail are standing in the Temple, teaching the people!””
    ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭5:17-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  25. 3-4 Peter said, “Ananias, how did Satan get you to lie to the Holy Spirit and secretly keep back part of the price of the field? Before you sold it, it was all yours, and after you sold it, the money was yours to do with as you wished. So what got into you to pull a trick like this? You didn’t lie to men but to God.” MSG

How could Peter say that Ananias and Sapphira were lying to the Holy Spirit? I believe it was the Holy Spirit in Peter’s that gave him the ability to discern the lies. I do not predict these were lies such that children try to get away with. A child who is learning the truth versus a lie has difficulty getting things past their parents because we know and understand their facial queues young children are unaware of. These two were full grown adults who must consider themselves experts in the field of lying.

If an engineer lies to a farmer lies about a matter dealing with aerospace engineering, he might not recognize the lie. Likewise, if farmer lies to a rocket scientist about a matter concerning agriculture, he might not recognize the lie. Neither may be fully versed in the others respective area of knowledge.

So why were they lying to God and not Peter to which they were actually speaking? The sacrifice covenant was not with Peter; rather with God. To lie about the covenant was to lie to God; not Peter. The warning is when we make promises to God about anything – He will hold us accountable for our words. We may be able to negotiate our way around the humans in our life but our spiritual father knows all, sees all and most of all knows the intent of our heart.

    Acts 5:3‭-‬4 KJV
The church was in great fear when the heard that the husband and the wife died if we can learn 2 things is don’t tempt the spirit and don’t lie to the to sprit because you really not lie to men but to GOD the church was added more when they heard these thing let’s get really people is hearing about Jesus is coming soon and about try to get right with GOD and they know the only safe place is the Kings house

  27. Now this is what i call kingdom faith. They were not afraid to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. They were willing to die for his name. Peter was bold and filled with the holy ghost .and that’s what we need to be full of the holy ghost and bold . and not afraid to suffer in his name.

  28. 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

What ever we do for God, with the right heart and motives it will last! nobody can change what God has in the works! And when we suffer persecution, shame, or abuse for Jesus, God sees that and we can rejoice in that, and count it all Joy!

  29. 13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

The power of God is so amazing that just the shadow of Peter was enough to heal people. It reminds me of the women with the blood disease. Just touching the hem of his garment was enough to heal her. The power of God is greater than we can imagine and it’s seen in these verses.

  30. Ac5s 5:1_5

I believe that God wants us to be true to him and to ourselves he knows all things.

  31. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

Be lifted high as my kingdom and the kingdom of this world falls and Your Kingdom rises up in me!

  32. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
When it comes to kingdom work, we answer to God!
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
    The Gospel; Jesus is alive!
31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Repentance, Baptism and next verse; Holy Ghost
32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Obedience is the key to receiving the Holy Ghost!

  33. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

Don’t lie to God. It’s that simple.

  34. 10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

There are some specific things that the Lord allows to be an example for us all. We should heed to the Word and learn from it rather than from hard experience in life

  35. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

I wanna be known for being a witness of the Gospel and of Jesus Christ! I want to be known as the Jesus freak who was always talking about Jesus no matter the situation. Jesus mold my life the way you want!

  36. “41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” Never let yourself be ashamed to praise the Lord and take a stand for the Lord like Peter and the apostles did. There is victory in the Lord and he has already won the battle. The enemy is already defeated and the cannot defeat you when you are in God’s will. You have the victory so continue to walk with the Lord and do his will for your life. He will never abandoned or forsake you so place your full trsut in the Lord.

  37. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
    Acts 5:32 KJV
Amen to the holy spirit of God for He have make me Yes witnesses.

  38. 23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

  39. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
When your belief in God and what you stand for in serving God is challenged, tried, and tested and you still do not waiver, budge, change or compromise on your beliefs in God and how he wants us to live; those beliefs become convictions.
How much farther can the church of today go in doing God’s will if our beliefs, are changed into convictions?

  40. 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

I get it. How can I grow and learn to be a child of God: if I’m not willing to sacrifice. All these men and women that were scorned, mocked, imprisoned, and put to death in the name of Jesus. What am I willing to do in His name? This is what I need to ask myself. How much am I willing to give up for the name and kingdom. How far would I reach to grab hold of the glory; am I fully extended in His kingdom.

  41. Ananias sold his propriety and he and his wife kept the money. The money was Gods . Ananias stole from the temple. Gods punishment was that him and his wife fell down and died. So what’s Gods money we should not keep, but turn it in as offering.

  42. 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

This chapter shows very clearly a distinction between two different people, two different ways of living. You can either hold back from God and lie about what you are doing for God or you can give your all, your whole life to Him, possibly suffering affliction. The one brings death and the other brings joy. I want to be sure that I am not being as Ananias, but rather as the apostles. I want to count it a joy to be worthy to suffer shame for Jesus rather then lying about what I am doing for God. God sees all that we do and I do not want my life to be shown as living as if I am doing more for God, when I am really not. I want to be sure that in all I do I am doing it whole heartedly, giving God all the glory and honour! Praise the Lord for He is mighty! He is great! Hallelujah!

  43. 9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

First I noticed that it was young men that carried him away to his burial. I also noticed his burial was quick. There was not a “viewing” but immediate death caused for immediate burial.

Then the wife who conspired with her husband died as well. Yet they did not have to call for the young men to come back their feet could be heard as soon as the lie came out of her mouth.

I wonder if there is a generation of young people who can detect a lie and is bold enough to immediately deal with the situation and bury it. Not gossip about it or get caught up in the web of deception but put the enemy in his place?

  44. All for a price

Acts is full of awesome testimonies and accounts of miracles but all of it came at a price. These apostles were imprisoned and beaten for Jesus name and they rejoiced that they could be counted worthy to suffer for his name. In the time that we live in there are many opeitunities to be persecuted for being a Christian. It is what we do with the opritunity that either shows God that we are shamed of him or that we are buying into the kingdom with a price. Although Jesus bought us all with hi precious blood, the Christian life is not free for us. We are in a fellowship of suffering. It comes with a price.

  45. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

When God sends us to give word to people we obey right??? just like he tells pastor to go around the world some times and give word but some of us are scared to try winning people to the church so they can be saved as well

  46. The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, “Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”
Acts of the Apostles 5:17‭-‬20 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/act.5.17-20.NLT

Every time the Lord delivers us from a bad situation the first thing we should do is go and preach. We need to share our testimony to give hope and life to this world

  47. 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

I don’t know if the reason they died was because of lieing, stealing (same difference) but I do know that they were one…. that being said….. what the spouse does, “may make you or it may break you”…..

  48. ““So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!””
    ‭‭Acts ‭5:38-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

““So I am telling you: Hands off these men! Let them alone. If this program or this work is merely human, it will fall apart, but if it is of God, there is nothing you can do about it—and you better not be found fighting against God!””
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.”
    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What a true statement! Anything that we do if we we do it on our own can fail. If we do it because God said it would be done, then it can’t be stopped. We need to grab ahold of this and not let go. When we hear his voice tell us to act we must obey quickly as whatever he says will come to pass.

  49. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
    Acts 6:4 KJV

Pastor sometime guess consumed with little problems that we can take care of ourselves, without even him noticing.

    A.L.M.A.S.

  50. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

For Ananias and his wife there was no repentance for them before God judged their sin. Couple this fear of the Lord with the notable miracles taking place and the church grew daily.

  51. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

It’s a matter of the heart that caused this married couple to fall to death. They were provoked to spiritual suicide before they ever physically died. They were tempted of Satan and because they didn’t resist the enemy God will rebuke them.

  52. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

  53. “So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”(Acts of the apostles 5:38-39 NLT)

The Pharisee named Gamaliel advised them to leave the apostles alone and let them go. Gamaliel the pharisee said if they are doing theses things just only on their own and that its not of God it would fail, but if it’s from God then it will not be able to be overthrown them because it’s of God but you just may find yourselves fighting against God.
